• Karl (5/5): Not so relaxing in Pal Mar - The complex was well maintained. The Internet was fine. Large screen with HDMI plug. Kitchen was well equipped but with standard stove (I am used to induction--no induction here). The garage is fine and underground, right by the apartment. The washing mashine works Although the hosts were superficially friendly there was, from the beginning, an uneasiness involved with the rent. First, this was the only apartment (from four on four different islands) that demanded "at gunpoint" (reservation will be cancelled unless ..) payment not via Booking.com but by certified CC. This did not get through because I was in Bora Bora at the time and their bank decided this is not good (nobody told me I should use a VPN). I ended up transferring the money by "classical" banking transaction. Upon arrival they wanted a 100 EUR deposit (this time in Spain my CC was good), which they returned upon departure. Then there was a problem with the garbage: they demanded (or rather: expected) that we got rid of our garbage by ourselves, although we paid an extra "cleaning fee" of EUR 85. They also requested that we left the kitchen totally clean; everything washed etc. I wonder: what is the cleaning fee good for? The linen? There were some communications about the garbage, because I was not aware how exactly I could get rid of it (no info in the apartment), and the hosts gave the impression that this was trivial, and everybody is well trained who visits anyway. An inquiry with Booking. com about these matters remains unanswered to this date. There were other problems: the bed was tiny -- at most queen sized (I did not measure it precisely but I suppose it was 1.40 m). Definitely too small for our needs! And there was no way we could use another bed in this apartment. Unlike the impression given by the photos the apartment is not pool-sided, but street-sided (the street was not busy but noisy at times), on the first floor. The tenant below us had the habit of taking phone calls early in the morning, and smoking often. The smoke went up -- into the apartment. I don't care so much, but my partner got very disturbed by these habits.
