Guest Reviews
- Belinda (8/5): -
- Merinda (10/5): We're coming back! - Very satisfying Nothing
- Bruce (8/5): A charming, quaint and historic hotel. A lovely experience with a wonderful host. - Very quaint and comfortable. It is a lovely old hotel which heaps of charm. Our host, Gavin was very friendly, extremely helpful and cheerful. Guests have their own private bathroom, which is located down the hall, but it works very well. The bedroom is small but charming. If you are after something with some history, charm and character then this fits the bill nicely. If you want something modern etc, perhaps not. We loved it. Breakfast was included - it was simple but nice. The Indian restaurant across the road is excellent and highly recommended for delicious home cooked Indian cuisine. We would also recommend the Beaconsfield Heritage Mining Museum located close by. A fascinating and historical site. Nothing
- white (9/5): - Good selection of breakfast foods A bigger bed would be great
- christine (8/5): - Bed was very comfortable
Lovely host
- Jaco (9/5): - The hotel is beautifully renovated with modern pieces beautifully mixed with the heritage feel. Small luxuries like thick fresh towels, heating in the bathroom and unlimited acces to make coffees and teas made it a great experience.
- graham (10/5): - The owner was extremely friendly and helpful. The builing was tastefully renovated and it was a pleasure to stay there. That we had to leave.
- Renee (9/5): Wonderful historic pub, fully renovated, comfortable, and full of charm. The owners were absolute treat-so welcoming and - Beautiful historic property, renovated lovely. Nothing it was fabulous!!

- Paul (9/5): Great place to stay in a very interesting town - Staying in a lovely restored heritage listed building. Location was great for what we wanted to do. We enjoyed the continental breakfast options. Our room was large and comfortable and we had exclusive access to the breakfast/lounge room as we were the only guests on our floor. Gavin was a welcoming, accommodating and delightful host - he even contacted us prior to our stay to make sure we had the right breakfast options!
- mark (10/5): Lovely heritage building, fantastic host (Gavin) and lots of nice little touches - Great old building. Fantastic host and lots of little extras to make our stay special
- Karen (10/5): Centrally located, period hotel, lovingly restored, fabulous host. - Great location. Lovely rooms, clean and warm. Own private bathroom. Fabulous host Gavin. Nothing was too much trouble . Included all we needed for breakfast. Bar with only Tasmanian wines and beers. Nothing

- Hofmann (10/5): - Absolutely beautiful place to stay! We had a beautiful room with a private bathroom with a bathtub. The owners were lovely and made us feel so welcome and had some great suggestions for places to eat and see.

- Monica (9/5): Small, comfortable and gorgeous hotel in the heart of Beaconsfield - highly recommend! - The hosts, Gavin and Donna, were absolutely delightful! Gavin was able to give us some great options for dinner venues and sightseeing, wineries and other local attractions, as well as some of the history of Beaconsfield. The bed was totally and utterly comfortable with top class Sheridan sheets, the bath towels were also Sheridan and huge and fluffy! Our room was immaculately presented as was our bathroom. Breakfast was included and was ideal for our needs.
- Tania (10/5): - For a Hotel that is a young 145 yrs she looks great.
Our host was wounderful.
The Room was wounder.
- Wolfgang (10/5): Fantastic place, 100% recommended - Beautifully renovated heritage hotel now run as a b&b. Lots of character AND modern amenities. Very nice bedroom, gigantic bathroom (even with a tub), cozy common room/ breakfast room. The proprietor is super friendly and helpful. Outstanding! We only had a day there 8-{
- Urs (10/5): If I ever happen to be around Beaconsfield again I will be pulling up at the Exchange Hotel again that’s for sure. - Very nice old beautifully restored old Building inside and out….with a very nice feel to it… friendly welcoming owner Gavin …. Top quality cosy bed … thick bath towels… very clean …lots of attention to detail….nice well equipped breakfast room ….just all around a good experience…. …….
- Susan (8/5): Very good - The room was lovely but quite small. I had misunderstood the room rate and thought that we had booked a room with an ensuite. While the room certainly had a private bathroom just for us, it was down the hall! I had also misunderstood that the hotel was not actually operational and was only open for certain days of the week. We had a fob to come and go as we needed. Our host was lovely and very friendly and helpful - suggested the Indian down the road for dinner and it was superb! Breakfast was great and exactly what we needed. Plenty of parking out the back. The stairs up to our room were quite difficult with heavy suitcases but our host was more than happy to help.
- Jo-anne (8/5): Very good - Nicely renovated hotel, lots character. Great location, walking distance to museum, brewery and restaurants. Nice bar Restaurant is not in operation
- Stephan (8/5): Very good - Well located on the main street. Plentiful continental breakfast.
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - Lovingly restored historic home.
Beautiful rooms with very comfortable bed and the plushest of towels.
Gavin was very friendly and accommodating to our late arrival.
Location was easy to access from our evening penguin tour at Low Head and en route on our next days journey.
- Leanne (9/5): Wonderful heritage stay! - The heritage and careful restoration to create a yesteryear feel with modern amenities made this a very special place to stay. The owner was so very friendly and helpful, the decor was so in keeping of the theme and the wine bar served excellent wine! I particularly loved the four poster bed and the little extras in the room that made it feel so homely. The breakfast was a continental breakfast and it included fresh fruit, yoghurt, different cereals, different breads, an array of different teas and a coffee machine. Plenty to start a day of sightseeing. A wonderful place to stay! Beaconsfield is a working town with not a lot for tourists to see, however it is so very near Beauty Point that it makes a great alternative to staying at Beauty.
- Melita (10/5): Head back in time - Loved the old fashion charm of the B&B.
Restful stay and the host, Gavin is perfect - welcoming and friendly, ensuring a fantastic holiday Nothing
- Joan (10/5): Exceptional - Our room was do good Nothing
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cheryl-ann (8/5): Very Good Thankyou - Gavin our host thought off everything for breakfast just that the Bar only opens on Thursdays
- Jill (9/5): Superb -
- Rachel (10/5): Exchange Hotel Beaconsfield - This accomodation was a surprising diamond!
The room, linen, bathroom, all very high end. The host was amazing, knowledgeable and wonderful to chat to. The most beautiful historical renovation I have seen. We have travelled the globe, this is one I will count in my top 5. This is a heritage building, and on first glance I was worried it would be run down. Couldn't be further from the truth.
- Wendy (8/5): Very good -
- Tanja (10/5): Highly recommend - Accommodation is very old world charm with super comfortable bed, pillows and fluffy towels. Everything was clean and host very friendly and helpful.
- Sheila (10/5): Exceptional - Convenient location. Lay out like a bed sitter. High quality Manchester. Plenty food in fridge. Next to Beaconsfield museum. Lovely village atmosphere. Fresh products from local IGA. Couldn't ask for more.
- Greta (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the four poster bed, which was very comfortable.
Bedroom was tastefully decorated in heritage pictures, curtains, tassles, colours, etc.
Great variety of items available for the self-serve breakfast.
Smart TV in our room and breakfast room had Netflix, free to air TV, YouTube, etc.
Sheridan linen and a variety of pillows to choose from.
Towels were thick and soft.
Ensuite was kept in period too with clawfoot bath, wooden seat and lid on toilet.
A totally delightful place to stay! More than happy with everything.
- S (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Beaconsfield - Gavin was the most delightful and friendly host who provided comfortable and pristine accommodation. The bathroom absolutely sparkled and we have never had better towels anywhere we have stayed. We can highly recommend The Exchange Hotel. Gavin and his sister are to be congratulated for their superb restoration of the hotel and making it a feature of the town.
- Michele (8/5): Very good -
- Grace (7/5): Good -
- Shellie (9/5): Superb -
- Scott (10/5): exceptional all round experience! 10 out of 10! - exceptional all round experience. all staff were great and went out of their way to make my stay warm and inviting. the cleanliness of the property was excellent, could not fault. the property was open and inviting, so you could see the heritage of the place throughout, which i thought was so good by the owners. cannot fault my experience and this is someone that has travelled extensively throughout most of the eastern coast of australia & stayed in 100's + of motels, hotels, airbnb's etc. well done Moss, Donna & Gavin! n/a

- Arnol (8/5): Very good - Older style accommodation with very comfortable facilities. Loved the well equipped dining room, & the modern bathroom. Will definitely stay again, & recommend to friends. Stairs.....I am not a strong person.
- Wakey (10/5): An very pleasant experience. - This was just as advertised and better. The heritage style was spot on and the room was large and comfortable. Having a small bar on site was a bonus and we enjoyed a quiet drink in that lovely space. The staff were exceptional and made us feel more than welcome. The location was very central with a short walk for access to everything. The breakfast was good with enough food and selection for us both. We will definitely be heading back there again before too long. We wished we had of booked for longer than 1 night.
- Constantin (8/5): One of a kind experience, it was like going back in time 100 and some years - Antique, original, clean Size of room
- Susan (8/5): lovely room with a comfortable bed - Heritage style room was very large & well set out with a comfortable bed; bathroom was modern but in keeping with the room decor. Easy parking & located in the main street of town with the Beaconsfield mine historical site right behind and all shops within easy walking distance over the road. Good continental breakfast provided in room. We were greeted & shown to our room by a nice young man named Tom who lives upstairs, and then left alone to do our own thing with secure but easy entering & exiting of the premises. We booked here because we wanted the convenience of being able to have our meals & a drink or two at the site of our accommodation however, we were informed via email quite some days after booking that meals are not available at the hotel & the bar is only open from Thursday to Saturdays with an offering of platters on those days only (requires pre-booking). The email kindly made some suggestions of what may be available in town for meals but unfortunately, on the night we were staying only the pizza place was open - we made the most of it, but it would have been nice to know this before we had booked. Also, not a biggie but there were no teaspoons in our room which made it a bit tricky when making a coffee or tea. (we realise they would likely of sorted this straight away, however it was late at night when we discovered this so did not want to disturb the caretaker).
- Karen (8/5): Gavin was a helpful host. The Beaconsfield Mining museum nearby is well worth the visit. - A beautifully restored old hotel. Not many choices for dinner which was very average
- Ian (9/5): Enjoyed -
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Great hospitality - a perfect base to explore the Tamar wineries! - Great old pub that’s been beautifully renovated
- Jan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicole (10/5): Highly recommended! Comfy rooms, fabulous host and great bar! - The property is beautiful and the rooms comfortable. Bathrooms lovely. The history of the place is interesting. The bar is excellent with local wines and beer. Food was great! Our host Gavin was fabulous and always checked to make sure everything was fine. It is the only bar in town and the locals we met were friendly and welcoming. We will stay again. Nik
- Cheryl (10/5): Beautiful room and wonderful host - Breakfast offerings were beyond expectation.
