Guest Reviews
- Kristrún (3/5): Poor - On a positive note, the view is fantastic. We got a small bag of wood for the fireplace, there was a washing machine and we had plenty of gas and hot water for the stay. We stayed here for a month.
For the first, there are surveillance camera in the livingroom also a motion detector. We asked the owner about this and he said that it only works when no one is in the house….yeah right, we put socks over the camera!!
We forgot to turnoff heating our first day at the house, the owner went inside and in to our bedroom when we where not home, with out asking us if it would be okay to go in to turn it off!!!
The swimming pool was not working the entire time! We had the cushions in the sun bench for 5 days and then he took it away and we had to sunbathe on hard sun benches for the rest of our stay.
There is some funky smell in the bathroom and 2 plugs where sticking out on the wires, lucky not getting electrocuted.
The kitchen wares where a disgrace.
It is where difficult to talk to the owner if you don´t speak spanish and he doesn't answer messages on booking
- Dwozn (1/5): Terrible Tenerife experience. - Ocean view As for the family trip, we had a reservation for two houses (casas) owned by Juan. One of the reservation (not ours) was canceled just two weeks before arrival. On this time, 99% of bookings were reserved on the whole Tenerife, so the remaining ones had bad ratings or had extremely high price.
We stayed here for 9 nights and it was THE WORST STAY I EVER HAD. Mold, terrible terrible smell and it is very cold during nights [13 C in the saloon and the bathroom!]. There's an old and dusty AC that runs for the main room, but other rooms are unusable (because of cold). Bathroom is very cold as well, smells bad and sometimes does not have a warm water. Many things are broken, plates and glasses are not clean. The cave room is very small and smells very bad. The way to the house is extremely narrow and difficult to drive in, so if you have a bigger car or you are not a good driver, you will need to go 300 metres one way. Contact to the owner is very limited, I tried to write a message and called, got the responses just one day before stay. The swimming pool is not private (is shared with two houses) and is closed (despite Bcom description says it's open all the year - and despite it was 22 C). Wi-Fi is sometimes slow and does not work. Cave is a joke, it's claustrophobic and smells very bad.
Surroundings are extremely steep (around 20%), so the area is not walkable. I was HIKING to the grocery shop and met 2 dogs barking on me, so I needed to go back. Icod city (except the center) is not walkable at all, especially for children. Steep and very narrow roads with fast cars ahead. It's much colder and rainy than the south.
- Tommi (7/5): Good - + House is very cozy, silent and beatiful place with atmospheric little cave room inside!
+ Very nice views across Icod de los Vinos and the sea
+ Good place for two adults and two children to stay
+ There is beatiful little garden with lemon and avocado trees just beside the entrance - Swimming pool was unfortunately closed during our stay.
- Kitchenware could be a liitle bit more equipped. For example pans very in very bad condition.
- Communication with the owner of the house might be challenging and we did not get all answers to our questions.
- Rooms were a little bit cold and some moist in the air. So if you are very sensitive this place might not be for you.
- Richard (9/5): Romantic place with spectacular views - There are a lot of things to like. First of all - what a view. It is spectacular! The house is high on the slope of the volcano just above a vine plantation and with Icod de los Vinos, La Mancha and Buen Paso sprawling down below. And then the ocean up to the horizon. Have a breakfast outside and enjoy a view for El Teide sticking high into the sky.
It is quiet. Only the cockerels make noise and sometimes an odd dog barks in a distance. In the evening a choir of frogs gives a concert.
A small, round swimming pool is not completely privet but it is shared with one other property only, so no problem with overcrowding. It is perfectly clean, it was cleaned every day, and the sun is all day round with a few sun beds and a lemon tree giving blissful shadow when it gets too hot.
Very nice furniture with a lot of storage space, comfy bed, spacious bedroom and living room and a very romantic little cave with a table where you can have your dinner when it is too hot outside. The kitchen is quite well equipped. For me just a tea pot was missing.
If you need something you can ask a very friendly and helpful host. I would love to give a 10 to this property. However there are a few things which would need some attention like sockets falling out of the wall (sticky tape is not a solution). The lighting is horrible because of the pale, cold colour of the light - please change the bulbs! The chandeliers are absolutely beautiful and a warm glow would make an enormous difference. Freezer did not work, luckily we did not need it. You need to be patient to get hot water and it might be a bit temperamental.
And just a matter of warning: if you are not a formula 1 driver, hire a smaller car. The approach to the property is narrow and challenging.
