Guest Reviews
- Michael (2/5): Not As Described - The general location in relation to Quebec City was reasonable. The layout of the kitchen was comfortable as was the living room. The information provided was misleading. After making a non-cancellable booking we were told the pet fee would be an additional $100 and we would be given location and access information only on the day of arrival. Upon arrival we learned that this is a bassement flat, on the rear of an older house, adjacent to a 24 hour gas station (see picture below). Parking is on the left side of the house, access is around to the right in the basement, over a gravel drive and down two sets of stairs, one with no railing…definitely not senior friendly. There is nowhere to walk a pet except through the gas station and along busy roads. On arrival there was standing water in the washing machine, and wet, smelly linens in the drier. There was an unpleasant odor in the main bedroom when we arrived. The host must have known because air freshener cans were provided. By the third night we could no longer sleep in the bedroom due to the dead animal smell, which was confirmed by the cleaning person who was sent after we complained. The fourth night we slept in the smaller bedroom and on the sofa. By the time we left the smell was permeating the entire flat. The most disappointing part was the hosts’ response: a cursory sorry for the inconvenience text message, but no mention of a solution or personal contact. Occasionally unforeseen things occur, but usually a host makes an effort to resolve it and give attention. The bigger problem is that the description does not match the experience. The space was not luxury, was not a retreat, and was very over priced.
