Guest Reviews
- Kotryna (10/5): A beautiful stay right in the jungle - A beautiful stay right in the jungle, completely surrounded by nature — it truly feels like a peaceful little sanctuary.
Joana was incredibly kind and helpful, making everything feel easy and welcoming.
They offer great activities too — I joined a cultural experience and learned about the Yukuna and Murui Muina communities, which felt very real and meaningful.
Would definitely come back 🤍
- Lucie (9/5): Great place to arrive to after landing in Leticia! - The hostel is a little outside of Leticia but easy to reach by bus, both from the city or the airport! It's the perfect place to explore the amazon, and sleep in nature, especially as Leticia is not a very nice city. Johanna and Juan Carlos are great hosts and have tons of stories to share. They can organize any sorts of activities for you!

- Santiago Buenaventura (10/5): - Completamente espectacular.
- Noa (10/5): Amazing immersion on the Amazon - My stay was amazing. The lodge is immersed in the Amazon forest. The location was ideal as it is easily accessible by bus from Leticia. Mario and Joana welcomed me and were always around in case I needed anything. Joana helped me organize activities around the Amazon and even helped me plan the rest of my trip to Iquitos. She arranged breakfast earlier than planned when I needed to leave early and prepared a small desert for me when I arrived. I truly felt welcomed and loved my stay at Renase.

- Pedro (9/5): Great place to rest and to enjoy nature. - It's a very quiet place, great to sleep, to rest and to medidate. It's surrounded by the forest. The food is delicious and tipical of the Amazon. I can't think of anything that I didn't like.

- Nicholas (10/5): Would definitely stay again - The location in a private reserve was great. Was very peaceful and very relaxing to fall asleep to the sounds of the reserve.
Very easy to get to from town. The km11 bus stops right in front of the hostel. Buses go past every 20-30mins.
Hosts were very welcoming and assisted with organising a night tour last minute. Also offered a bike for use to explore the area. Nothing

- Lorianna (4/5): A Disappointing Experience: Trash in the Jungle Instead of a Protected Nature Reserve - A short review for Booking.com:
The hostel is brand new and truly beautiful. It spans over 30 hectares of land, purchased by the owner, Johanna, as a nature reserve to protect and preserve the environment, fulfilling her legal duty.
Johanna is a kind and welcoming host. The staff, especially Valeria and my guide, were wonderful. Everyone put in a lot of effort to ensure a pleasant stay, especially considering the importance of receiving a good review.
These are the positive aspects of my experience. A detailed review for Booking.com:
While there are positive aspects to this hostel, there are also significant negative points that cannot be ignored.
On my third and final walk from the hostel to the Maloka, I discovered a huge pile of glass bottles, some broken and many clearly several years old, partially hidden under leaves right on the path. I had only walked this route three times during my stay.
On my first day, I had already noticed trash behind the communal area—visible the entire time I was there. I waited for the right moment to address this with Johanna, the owner.
On my first evening, Johanna and I had a long, personal conversation. She knew exactly how important ecological responsibility is to me. I shared my belief that hotels and lodges that profit from nature—whether it’s a beach hotel or a jungle lodge—have a duty to protect and preserve their environment, not exploit or destroy it.
She agreed with me and told me how she was supposedly fighting against litter and even educating the locals. She presented herself as a passionate advocate for nature and wildlife, referring to herself as the “bird lady.”
However, on the third day, it became painfully clear to me that this is not the reality. If her words were true, I would not have found glass bottles scattered in the jungle.
Before checking out, I confronted Johanna about the trash. At first, she refused to believe me and tried to justify the glass bottles by saying she was collecting them to mix into cement, claiming cement was too expensive. But this reasoning made no sense in the middle of the jungle.
When I didn’t accept her explanation, she shifted the blame onto one of her employees, calling him an alcoholic who had caused this mess. Regardless, she is the owner and the person responsible.
Instead of saying, “Show me where it is, I’ll have it cleaned up immediately,” she dismissed my concerns and later never followed up.
- Ethan (10/5): The perfect Amazon experience for those who want a base in the jungle and choose tours day-by-day - I had an exceptional stay at RENASE. Joanna is one of the friendliest and most helpful hosts I’ve came across in my six months travelling South America. She is a bird enthusiast and we went birdwatching around the reserve; she also offered local Amazonian juices & drinks for me to try.
Breakfast exceeded expectations and the lodge itself is beautiful, being set within the jungle and built using a traditional bamboo structure. It is located just off the road and easily reached by bus from Leticia.
Joanna helped organise my tours and was always on hand to assist.
Couldn’t have asked for anything better, in fact I wish I could’ve stayed longer.
