Guest Reviews
- Silke (7/5): Verzorgd - Het hotel was degelijk. Aangename kamer. Mooi verzorgd zwembad. Romantisch restaurant.
Mooi rustig domein Alles was perfect
- Philip (8/5): Alte Infrastruktur aber gute persönliche Betreuung - - sehr freundliches Personal
- strategisch gute Lage - LKW Lärm vom Highway
- Guest (9/5): - The trail, the pool, the food and the lodges. Pretty much everything. The decor was low key and authentic. It was fabulous, exceeded expectations. Close to road so a bit of background noise but this shouldn't put you off

- Yoselyn (10/5): Charming and beautiful - It is a place close to San Jose but away from the messiness of San Jose . Perfect for a break from San Jose I like the property
Keine Moskitonetze!
- Kurt (9/5): -
- LUIS GERARDO (10/5): Paraíso terrenal - Un lugar mágico lleno de vida silvestre
- Oliver (9/5): Lovely place to spend a night - The whole property is beautiful, the pool is great and the trail that can be walked on the property is a nice easy stroll and if your quiet lots of animals can be seen. The restaurant was beautiful also! If you are a vegetarian there are not really any options at the restaurant but breakfast was good some of the best egg I have tasted.
- Emily (10/5): Relaxing, inspiring and peaceful! We would stay here again in a heartbeat. - The property is very peaceful, with mature gardens and a network of trails to explore the property further. They have a beautiful vegetable and fruit garden, and everything at the restaurant was delicious and fresh! Nothing! It was wonderful
- Joaquin (8/5): -
- Nienke de Groot (9/5): - Het ligt schitterend. Kamers zijn mooi. Eten is erg lekker. Niets
- Caroline (10/5): - Un véritable havre de paix. Le lieu est apaisant. Excellente literie. Rien
- Jonathan Matthew (9/5): Beautiful place and great to see the creatures at breakfast! -
- Fleur (8/5): Beautiful rooms with stunning garden - Beautiful gardens, comfortable rooms, and a fantastic pool! The restaurant is reasonably priced with good food, and the bed was very comfortable. The room had everything we needed, though a fridge would have been handy. The owner and staff were wonderful and even gave us a lift to the bus terminal—such kind hospitality! A great stopover spot, but having a car is essential if you plan to explore Sarapiquí, as taxis are pricey as the property is far from all activities. It wasn’t an issue for us, but worth noting the bathroom isn’t fully enclosed, so keep that in mind for privacy.
- Emiliano (10/5): Excellent stay on the way to Sarapiqui and La Fortuna - Everything perfect!
The staff was very helpful and nice, the room was very pretty and ultra clean.
Definitely recommended! Nothing - all perfect!
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional - The location was fabulous. Garden paths through the property a big extra. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed meeting the owner of the property. Would definitely stay here again.
- Aimee (4/5): Disappointed - Nice pool and food was good. Room was dark and bed sheets had mouldy. Place needs a bit of love, has lots of potential and nice surrounds.
- Patricia (8/5): A quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of our North American lives - The owner, Jean Pierre, has had a great vision for Hacienda La Isla since he bought the property 18 years ago - a sustainable retreat that is ecologically and culturally sound. Talking with him and walking the 3.5 km nature trail we’re both unexpected treats.
- Daniel (9/5): Superb - Oasis that we liked a lot. Very friendly and committed staff. Wonderful garden and surrounding park. Very good breakfast. Great chocolate tour. Many insects like mosquitos, spiders in the room and bathroom. Windows cannot be completely closed and no screens against mosquitoes.
- Silvia (9/5): Superb -
- Diane (10/5): Paradise! Dont miss it - Sleeping in the « domo » (the yurt) was truly magical. we could thus hear nature better.
The bedroom and bathroom area were spacious, comfortable and very clean.
The garden and the property are really gorgeous
We took advantage of it to take the 4km walk in the forest path into the property. The view from the restaurant is incredible for breakfast.
Breakfast and dinner were excellent.
Our guests was super kind and helpful!
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional - Stayed here for a night to break a long journey, stayed on for a local guide arranged by lodge on cacao growing & production which was amazing, so educational & delicious. The accommodation including super huge bed in lovingly built traditional buildings set right in jungle surroundings. Fantastic marked trail around grounds to explore the jungle and kitchen garden. A big bonus was the pool where we sat and watched the monkeys playing in the trees above. Also had dinner which was excellent and met the owner who is friendly, passionate about the environment and really helpful.
- Jean (8/5): Very good -
- Frederik (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tracy (10/5): Perfect spot - Location is great! We stayed here two nights on our way from San Jose to Manzanillo. The setting is lush and beautiful and very relaxing. The food is fantastic and the rooms are comfortable.
The owner of the property is a lovely gentleman who will visit with you and give you ideas of things to do in the area and on the property.
We did the chocolate tour and really enjoyed it. It was a little tricky to find in the dark.
- Samira (10/5): Great experince in a beautiful setting. Thank you - Its beautiful place specially if you like nature. Owners & staff were lovely and polite. The place wasn’t as easy to find specially when its dark. Maybe to help some better larger signage or give pictures or instructions of how to to get to place with pictures might be useful.
- Omer (6/5): Pleasant -
- Susan (9/5): Superb - A quirky, eclectic property, fascinating layout with seriously healthy forest. Howler monkeys on site, also saw 2 types of poison arrow frogs and many birds. Great kitchen dishing up freshly prepared food. Friendly, helpful staff.
- Marianela (10/5): beautiful and peaceful place, very nice and welcoming owners. - big space, clean, comfortable bed. the ceiling fan wasn’t fast enough.
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Jorge (10/5): do not use the location that is on booking. Try to call them so you can have the right location. The location that is in - friendly staff, amazing nature.
- Ana (9/5): Superb -
- Barbara (8/5): Very good -
- Jena (9/5): Superb -
- Camilla (7/5): Great location, poor quality food - Location, large, beautiful, clean rooms The restaruant's food was of very poor quality. Not freshly cooked and not tasty.
- Sylvain (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent location with surrounding trail within the property, beautiful dining area with very good food and staff, the owners was also very present and helpful.
- Denise (9/5): Superb - Quiet, beautiful surrounding (park & pond), large room, delicious breakfast & dinner.
- Jan (7/5): Good stopover on a long journey - Great atmosphere, fully grown garden, visually stunning. The rooms do not ventilate enough so the humidity made the pillows smell a bit.
- Carolina (6/5): Good enough for a 1 night stopover - The place is surrounded by jungle with a nice walking trail and monkeys that may greet you in the morning. The food and drinks served at the restaurant are very tasty. Staff was kind. Although of decent size, the double rooms we booked were tired looking. Bathroom/sanitary could do with an upgrade.
