Guest Reviews
- Angela (8/5): - We liked that it was just across the road from our venue.
- Daniel (10/5): Lovely host, great stay will be back!! - Location,
New building great size apartment
View and free parking Nil

- John (7/5): Great location and good value for money. Large apartment. Paying additional $350 bond before being given check in instru - Central location, great size apartment No tv in bedroom, old uncomfortable couch, hard bed, small towels, no milk in fridge.
- Connie (4/5): Think twice! - Location Falsely advertised that payments were by card via booking.com but then demanded cash security deposit of $350. Booking.com werent interested. Chipped glass table at dangerous height/location, Stains on carpets, air con panel broken, TV broken, wi fi patchy etc etc doesn't fit with such an upfront security considering the property is in poor condition. The "sofa bed" is a futon and has little, to no support. Other accomodation available at same price as the "reduced" price..
- Anthony (7/5): good - location was great ,we saw a concert in the same street and dining options were numerous There is no reception and Hidden Gem is just the name of the room, which is a single apartment in one of four blocks with the access in a different street. If you're older and don't have email on your phone you will find this difficult as the access info goes to your home PC and so does the verification code sent by Booking.com if you try to log in. You can't contact Booking.com without the verification code. Luckily our daughter could could go to our house and retrieve that email and send us a photo. The host also wanted a security deposit by bank transfer which we thought was strange, so we thought we would just sort it out at reception but there isn't one, so we had some anxious moments before we finally were contacted by the host. We had previously paid the full amount when we booked. Nevertheless drinks were had when we finally accessed the property. More information would have been handy at the booking stage, not everyone is up with the tech.
- Belinda (9/5): - It had everything we needed for the stay, very clean and tidy. Close to bars and restaurants and it had it's own car parking space we didn't pay extra for.
- Mickey (8/5): Nice clean apartment - Nice apartment and very handy to where I was working. Nice city view and plenty of room Bed was clean but not the most comfortable. Was a little confusing to get the key but once I sorted that everything was easy.
- Wendy (7/5): I enjoyed the swimming pool as the weather was quite hot. - Position near my son’s home. Views from the large windows, especially at night. Clean, tidy & all necessary facilities. OMG, that bed!!!! Too hard & lumpy!!! It was hurting my hips while laying on either side.
- Belinda (7/5): Comfortable and clean in great location - Comfortable and clean in excellent location Check in process- PIN code to access key was incorrect. Difficult to contact owner/manager as answering machine message was in a foreign language. Delay in responding to sms so we were waiting over 30minutes to gain correct code.
- Renee (9/5): Great spot, nice clean apartment with car park. - Great location and easy to get to. A bit convoluted to access but easy with the guide provided.
- Michael (1/5): I won't try to use this facility again - I wasn't able to access the building. the contact number was disconnected. I had to find alternate accommodation so paid twice for one night.
- chantelle budby (10/5): - Everything beautiful scenery clean apartment what wasn't to like
- jeff (10/5): -
- Jessica (10/5): Hidden Gem - Nice views and comfortable bed.
- Debbi (6/5): Expected better for what we paid. - Good location. We had nowhere to park when we got there as the spot we were told to park in was taken by someone else! When I questioned the owner, they told me we should just park in the visitor spots in that case. On arriving at the visitor spots, we saw a sign stating that there was an 8hr limit and vehicles going over that would be towed! The response we got to this was "leave a note on the vehicles windscreen that is in your spot".
When we finally got in to the apartment I noticed a funny, unpleasant smell. After about an hour of being there, I went to put my jacket in the wardrobe to find it was full of hanging damp towels and bedding. Not sure whether this was the cause of the smell, but it wouldn't have helped.
The sofa was not comfy to sit on, as you could feel the springs underneath you. And the bed was horribly uncomfortable too. My husband and I hardly slept, and then both woke feeling quite sore and stiff.
- Walker (9/5): Superb - We enjoyed our stay at The Hidden Gem.
The keys and finding our carpark was easy, you just need to follow the instructions given and the communication with the host was friendly and efficient.
The apartment was fully equipped and the shower was great!!
The sunset was lovely too.
We stayed here to go to The Triffid which was just across the road so was great not having to Uber late at night.
We received our $350 deposit back by lunch of the day we checked out.
Would stay here again.
- Jason (10/5): It was nice and pleasant - Very good directions and helpful management for all questions I had. Very pleased with the service, location and the room 😀🙌🏼 Pleased with it all.
- Karen (1/5): Poor communication means you think it's a scam for the cash deposit - The property was central and clean. The owner charged a $350 security deposit cash transfer with the promise that it will be returned upon checkout. We took photos before and after to show the condition prior to and after our stay so no issues there. It has been 4 days and they haven't refunded and are not responding to me.
With Booking.com involved and after another plea including the next steps I will take to obtain my money they have finally refunded the deposit. They said they missed the messages but they don't need me to message to refund when I have provided the details a number of times already.
I thought this was a scam. It was stressful. Won't go back.
- Wendy (8/5): This was adequate for my stay of one night but was mostly to have a comfy bed for the night but it wasn’t - It was in a great location & extremely close to my son’s home. Loved the floor to ceiling windows with city views!!!
Doona was too heavy & too hot & bed too hard.
- Steve (8/5): Very good -
- Tracey (5/5): Passable - The location was excellent for our purpose opposite The Triffid venue. The host did not refund the extra $60 paid in advance, that she charged to allow 2 extra people share a small sofa bed when I told her that they would not be joining us due to illness. What she provided was 1 pillow, 1 small cushion and a doona - no sheets (all remained unused) Her reason was that the origial room price was too good (Genius disount 20%) and the extra $60 paid was fair as she had a fee to pay to Booking.com. She was totally unreasonable and in my opinion a theif. I had doubts my $350 damage deposit would be refunded in full and told her so, however, thankfully that amount was recieved in full. Also, there were only 2 coffeee cups provided, so if the other couple had joined us, there would not have been cups to use. Nor was there any milk at all not even UHT. Also, the dishwash scourer was sooo used it was furry.. - not hygenic. Overall, I paid $293 for a dissatifactory overnighr stay. Will definatelyavoid "BNB" versions on this playform in future.
- Lucy (1/5): Worse than Bad. Would not recommend. - We paid extra for 4 people to stay at the property but on arrival the sofa bed was not made. The bedding was soaking wet hanging in the wardrobe. Eventually found some bedding that had horrific stains on it. Our friends decided to book a night somewhere different instead. Would NOT recommend. Definitely not a hidden gem.
- Julian (1/5): DONT STAY HERE ITS TEREBLE !! - It was close to some food areas Unorganised host - didn’t arrange any self checkin details to checkin properly - when I called they asked for money deposit which I already paid - to a private bank account/
not trustworthy / horrible smell noisy apartment with cheap interior no cups - wet towels in the cupboards making the place smell mouldy / hard bed /
- Teofilo (8/5): Very good - Location. Views. Just needed a cup/ glass.
- Ella (9/5): Superb -
- Paula (7/5): The apartment is clean and in a good location, check in is difficult, the sofa bed is not a bed - Location, clean apartment the sofa bed is not a real bed, is horrible should not be sold as a sofa bed its a 2 people apartment only, the check in is horrible so difficult to find the locker they all look the same, should have some numbers at least or anything.
- Bailey (4/5): Disappointing -
- Jordan (8/5): So close to Triffid - Great spot near The Triffid Second bed (fold down couch) not very comfy. Could do with investing in a good sofa bed
- Linda (8/5): Very good - Apartment was large and spotlessly clean. Excellent location, close to entertainment venues, etc. Main bedroom mattress was unsleepable. Had to sleep in bean bags and lounge.
- John (6/5): Pleasant -
- Rennie (7/5): Great practical apartment but be prepared for a very complicated arrival. - We were going to a gig at the Triffid so the location was amazing for us. Getting in. Finding the key was difficult. The owner could mark the key box with something identifiable. They are on a fence in the other side of the road. Trying to follow the photo instructions was awkward and stressful. Then having to find the carspace within the underground car park was crazy again using the photo as a guide. Did not enjoy that at all. Luckily we had someone in Sydney on the phone to talk us through but all in all it created a very bad first impression. Also didn’t appreciate having to pay a deposit at the last minute of $350 before the instructions were sent. Apparently it was in the fine print but this added to our stress not knowing if it might be a scam. I’m sure this is not normal practice with booking.com
- Mallinson (1/5): Was expecting to pick up the key from a reception area, instead I had find the right lock box on a fence across the road - Nothing Location, cleanliness
- Michael (4/5): Convenient location but limited comfort. - The location was very convenient. Right across the road from The Triffid live music venue and close to great eateries and other drinks and dining spots. Our host was accommodating in allowing us to check in early. Access to the carpark and apartment was straightforward. The beds were very uncomfortable. The only pillows available were not great quality. We had paid for 3 guests but only received two towels. The apartment was very sparsely appointed.
- Kayla (8/5): Very good -
- Monique (7/5): Good -
- Trevor (10/5): Trevor's stay - Loved the location and the views and the room was a good size and also clean. Would have loved a couple of wine glasses in the cupboard, but it was not really that much of a problem.
- Soapy (10/5): Outstanding accommodation.
Handy for gigs. - Details of how to access.
Photos were great. N/A.
No issues.
- Riah (7/5): Our stay was quick but great, had no issues checking in or out. - Was in a great location and easy to navigate, lots of natural light. Amazing water pressure in the shower which is rare. Bed was a little hard for my bad back but otherwise a great little apartment with great views and great location to shops and restaurants.
- Timothy (2/5): DONT STAY HERE - The location No hot water and accused of stealing a vacuum charger and kids toys left by the cleaner...
Felt like I was getting screwed over for deposit!
Not worth the hassle of the key treasure hunt and lack of information from the owner.
- Polly (8/5): Very good -
- Bye (10/5): A hidden gem indeed - I liked everything that the apartment had to offer. I was very comfortable. I did however have ongoing issues with accessing the wifi.
- Natasha (10/5): I absolutely loved it - Beautiful and clean little space with an awesome view of the city
- Elyse (10/5): Comfortable, enjoyable & relaxing. - I was extremely happy with every aspect of this property.
Every comfort that I have at home was provided, including a variety of tea choices, coffee, Coffee Mate.

The host was polite, friendly & easy to contact.
I look forward to staying at this property again in the future & enjoy the many other aspects of this accommodation, including the Gym, Sauna & full size resort swimming pool.
There are many restaurants close by. Shopping Centre & Aldi only 3mins walking.
Safe & secure onsite parking if required. Not having more time/days to enjoy all that this Hidden GEM has to offer.
- Mathew (7/5): Good -
- Experito (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent place loved my stay
- Angie (7/5): Served its purpose - Good position Sofa bed is very uncomfortable and small
- Jess (10/5): Exceptional accommodation - The apartment was clean, nice and spacious. The customer service staff were super helpful and friendly. The location is perfect.
- Stuart (3/5): unpleasant at best - location paying $350 (refundable) on day of arrival for insurance/damages
getting the keys
smell of the room of cleaning chemicals
- Wendy (4/5): I would not stay anywhere again that does not have a reception - Good facilities There was no reception and I was not made aware that I needed to retrieve keys from a locked box in the street and then follow amateur and confusing directions received after ringing the host in Melbourne. This was an inconvenience and for that money there should have been a reception
