- Craig (3/5): Not meant for more than two - Anything in Shimokitazawa is a great location! The futon didn’t fold out so we ended up sleeping three to a bed which made for a lousy sleep.
- Michie (10/5): Chill - Always a cozy stay here None
- Agnieszka (10/5): - Very cozy, great location

- Clara (10/5): - Very good place to stay and explore Shimokitazawa The need for a deposit on a different platform
- Rachel (10/5): - The place and location of this stay are excellent and we would 100% recommend for a few days in Tokyo! Ryo was absolutely fantastic at ensuring we had everything we needed, and more! :) We feel like we had a really relaxed and great visit to Tokyo because of where we were staying. As the location is so great, it does mean that it is a lively area and there is quite a lot of noise into the night, so be prepared and pack some earplugs!

- Benoit (9/5): Great apartment and area! - We loved our stay at this loft. The area is super nice with so many good restaurants and shops. It’s 2min walk from the train station, which made it super convenient. The building has an elevator perfect for families with prams.
The apartment was super nice and clean, it has everything you need for daily life. We could even use the umbrellas. We had plenty of space to keep open both our big suitcases.
Ryo, was always kind, super responsive and gave us plenty of good advices and recommendations.
We would happily stay here again when we come back to Tokyo!
- Sartracom (8/5): Very good -
- Shayna (9/5): Superb - Spacious loft in the most convenient location. Easy, hassle free check-in/out and communication with host. It was very cold (February). Maybe one more space heater would have helped.

- Miya (7/5): Amazing location but could be updated - Extremely great location within Shimokita, only minutes away from the station. Nice building.
Great customer service, I feel the operator helped us as much as they could. The bedding to make the bed for the third person was clearly stained, even though there was a sheet we could use (to cover it up). My daughter chose to stay elsewhere, so in the end only two of us.
Hopefully the futon can be replaced or cleaned better!
- Alison (9/5): Excellent stay, we will 100% stay again in the future! Perfect place in Tokyo to escape the busy city and get amongst th - This property is in an excellent location right in the heart of Shimokitazawa. It’s so close to the train station, great bars, live music and awesome places to eat. The studio apartment is great for a couple and having the balcony was a nice place to sit and watch the world go by. The bed/ fold out couch really needs a mattress topper or something similar for an extra layer but otherwise it’s comfortable enough for a week! And we slept well!
- Catherine (8/5): Very good -
- Ryan (9/5): Had a great time staying here! - Great Iocation, good value for money, excellent train links close by, proper supermarket few minutes away.
- Thomas (10/5): Super well located, and the host Ryo was super helpful in providing all sorts of tips and even an earlier check in! -
- Alexander (10/5): A beautiful place in the heart of cool shimo! - Beautiful place. I stayed in the studio for a week (not the loft) and it was spacious and cute. Really great location, lovely thought put into the place, and a great place to return to every night. So well thought out. Washing facilities for clothes, lines to hang out, record player, so fun.
- Estela (10/5): Exceptional - Everything!! It is a gem this studio! In the middle of ShimoKita, with everything happening around you!
It was super clean!
Ryo was super helpful regarding the self checking, information regarding the apartment/area/luggage... It is super highly recommended!

- Brin (8/5): Amazing location right in the thick of the action - no frills, but perfect for a local-esque stay! -
- Loretta (8/5): Very good - The location was great, the apartment was well laid out, great views from the balcony. Loved it. Nothing
- Michael (8/5): Very good - Great location if you want to hang out in a hip town with plenty of things to do and great food. There are several known food places within ~350m that are kiosk pay and open for lunch or dinner. Bars and night life on the street or in less than 10 minutes of walking. Studio has enough room for two people to hang out when getting ready for bed or to leave for the day Bed and pillows are a bit rough but seem pretty standard against a few other home stays, depends on how old you feel.
- Hampus (9/5): Superb -
- Jessica (8/5): Spacious room with great location - The apartment is specious comparing to the typical hotel in Tokyo. Location is very good, 3 mins to JR, and 2 mins to a big supermarket. There are many restaurants nearby.
The owner was kind, promptly answered our questions, and there is a guidebook of nearby recommended restaurants, very considerate. The kitchen utensils (frying pan and pot) were very old and almost unusable. We can only used our own newly bought pan to cook breakfast.
- Perry (8/5): Fantastic location and spacious for family of 3 - Fantastic location, property surrounded by amazing cafes, restaurants, unique shopping. At night great choices of Yakitori and bars. Host also offers many great suggestions, many of which we tried and thoroughly enjoyed. Only 5 mins walk to train so great location to stay to explore Tokyo. Wi-fi was also fantastic, best we had had in Japan.
- Jye (8/5): Very good -
- Sarah (8/5): Great location in Shimokitazawa - Fantastic location, right in the middle of Shimokitazawa, hub for youth culture. Great bars, places to eat. A supermarket and the station are literally around the corner. The host, Ryo, provided a comprehensive list of suggestions for places to eat and drink (although some have closed). Also a great place to stay if you like second hand record shopping. The apartment was small but had everything we needed, even a washing machine. The instructions to get there and get in were super clear. It wasn't quite clear that we were getting the apartment, not the loft, which didn't really matter in the end. It would be nice to have newer, thicker towels and a more comfortable couch, but these are minor quibbles.
- Nicola (10/5): Awesome stay in a super cool neighbourbood in Tokyo! Perfect if you want to get away from the crowds - Perfect location in Shimokitazawa, which is away from the main touristy area. Very close to the metro station, with lots of great restaurants and bars closeby, as well as cool shopping. The hosts were very responsive and had great recommendations for the neighbourhood. The bed in the loft was very comfy as well. We didn't use the kitchen at all (because we are in Japan and want to eat all of the food!) but it looked very well-appointed. I would absolutely stay here again, and recommend this place to any friends. Nothing, it was great!
- Julie (9/5): This is a lovely apartment in an excellent location. Host was also responsive, helpful and friendly! - Location is fantastic! The apartment is a good size for my family of 4 and the loft space was surprisingly spacious! Love the little attentive details like the cacti with ‘name cards’. Host was really nice - we requested for an early check-in as we arrived very early in the morning and he acceded (which is super rare in our air bnb stays)! He was also very prompt, friendly and helpful in his replies. I left my jacket there and he offered to check out postage details. Much appreciated! A minor quibble- the sofa bed was a tad worn. But that was easily ‘solved’ with the clean sheets and extra bedding/mattresses provided. Also, the double bed in the loft was very comfortable!
- Kevin (9/5): Superb - The apartment was very clean and well-appointed. Our host responded very quickly to our concerns, although the solution was out of his control. The booking for this apartment is very tricky because, apparently, they book more than one apartment under the same heading using the same photos. If you're not paying closer attention than I was, you'll book the wrong one without realizing it. The photos show a loft and apartment (I assumed incorrectly that the loft and apartment were the same place, but they're not.) I was expecting to walk into a brightly lit apartment with a separate loft for sleeping and space for my son, but, instead, walked into a dim, small (but tidy and otherwise nice) studio apartment. I immediately felt that I'd been a victim of bait and switch and was pretty disappointed. Our host responded quickly to our concern and explained how the listing worked. He was very apologetic and attempted to move us, but the loft was already booked. Once I resolved to not let this hiccup get in my way, we made the best of the tidy little studio. After walking around Shimokitazawa, I realized that the price for this space was reasonable given it's location.
All in all, my only criticism of this was the lack of clarity in the booking process. I'm unsure whether that's an issue with the host or with Booking.com, but just be more aware than I was and you'll be satisfied.
- Stella (8/5): Very good -
- Jennifer (6/5): Enjoyed being close to transport ,shops & sights of Tokyo - Good location Decor was very minimal as described…needed extra hooks for hanging bath towels The downstairs wardrobe could be less cluttered to hang clothing properly
- Tan (9/5): delightful. tiring but very very kool - enjoyed it a whole lot - absolutely awesome location with great people☺️👍 - perfect central location to explore Shimokita n Tokyo, lots of great good n izakayas - too kool 👍 toilet system could be updated
- Tzkwan (9/5): Superb -
- Joe (8/5): Very good -
- Shu (5/5): Passable - Different from the picture shown on the website.
- Charanjeet (4/5): A disappointing end to our Japan stay. - This is a great location for shopping and chilling out in the neighbourhood. Shimo-Kitazawa has a great vibe. There was a lovely live band pub right next door to the building.
A very helpful owner when it came to communication and problem solving I am always very supportive of independent businesses so I am very mindful in my critique. Unfortunately, I think this loft doesn't suit families at all. It is a better suited as a bachelor pad or for bunch of guys staying for a few days without the hassle of cooking etc and not being fussy about the condition or amenities. The photos of the property in the listing don't really reflect the true state of the space as some of the things were pretty run down. It was our only poor experience in Japan and given that these were our last 2 nights in Tokyo, it was tough.
The place seems to have been affected by Covid-19 losses and the neglect showed everywhere. We were greeted by a faintly stale fragrance in the house. There were three dead/dying plants, holes in the sofa fabric, pretty messy kitchen cabinet with no cutleries drawer and dusty appliances. The bedsheets were crumpled and pretty thin too. Now, I wasn't expecting hotel standard cleanliness but this didn't meet the cut. In every Japanese place we stayed we cooked breakfast for our boys but in this place, we were uncomfortable even drinking water from the tap. In fact, my partner developed a headache while inside the apartment so we had keep the door to the balcony open just to get some fresh air even though it was a pretty cold night in Tokyo.
Given that most toilets in Japan are so hi tech, the one in the apartment is pretty basic. Same goes for the hot and cold shower which was unreliable as well. We also had problem with water heater not turning on despite repeated attempts on our 2nd night(which the owner very helpfully assisted in making it work very late in the night). The owner also has a nice printed guide in the apartment with lots of information of the area, Japanese language phrases to help foreigners communicate etc.
Unfortunately, all that got negated by having a space which was very different from the description in the listing and not suitable for families at all.
