- Tan (9/5): Nice stay with family! - Great location, nice local food around. Clean room and nice breakfast! Friendly staff. We stayed for 5 days and really enjoyed it. Our neighbours in the hotel were smoking some nights and mornings and so the smell got into our room through cracks in the windows. The hotel should really enforce the no smoking part. Perhaps seal the windows entirely to prevent guests opening them.
- Florence (10/5): 100% Recommended! - The reception staff (Xiao Zhong) gave me a temporary room to rest when I arrived early before our family room was ready. Breakfast was great with good mix of local and international food! One of the staff prepared a bowl of longevity noodles for my sister as she heard that the next day was her birthday. Location was good, walking distance to AMTR. The hotel also gladly extended our check-out time, and gave us a complimentary local snack during check-out. Nil.

They also assisted us to navigate the taxi booking system in China and would even help us to contact the driver to inform him of our exact location. The rooms were of a good size and comfortable. Breakfast was a big spread with international and local choices. They had 5 types of tea eggs and also local specialities like satay noodles and peanut soup for foreign guests to try. The hotel must have been grand during its hey days with good solid furnishings. It’s looking a bit old but for the reasonable price, it was good value.

- Annie (7/5): My Opinion on my stay at City Hotel - We like the free self service laundry station. The Front service staff was not too friendly and slow in checking us although we have all the details. The hotel buffet food was cold and not tasty. Quite expensive for stay-in guests. The location is not as convenient as mentioned on the website.
- Lee (8/5): Good except the incident of no towels mentioned above. - When we went in for breakfast around 9+, most of the food were empty. It seems no staff is making inspection to ensure food is refilled when it is depleted. We requested a refund and walked out of the restaurant. One day before check out, floor towels and hand towels were not provided. We are perplexed. Is this the hotel procedure. We did not encountered this the previous 4 nights we stayed. This happened only on the fifth night.

- Kar (5/5): You get what you paid for - The hotel is definitely on the older side, although with a touch of vintage. In the room we stayed in, a lot of the powerpoint sockets were crooked, and the wallpaper was peeling in some places. The corridor was also dimly lit and narrow, so some may find it a little unnerving. There was an issue with the staff at breakfast check-in not being aware that we had three sets of breakfast (they thought it was only two sets) included during our stay. It wasn't until Morning 3 that the staff seemed to have the matter sorted out with front desk. Breakfast was extremely busy, and food was slow to be replenished.

- Kathleen (10/5): Exceptional - This hotel is hidden gem. The location is excellent, walking distance to park, food and metro station. It's supper clean. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast has a lot of choices and price is very good. I like very thing about it and will stay there next time .
- Zen (10/5): Exceptional - We had a wonderful stay. The breakfast buffet was very good, the hotel was a 5-minute walk from the botanic garden, the location was central but quiet. Restaurants and convenience stores were just nearby. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would come back again. Waited quite a while for check-in, maybe because I booked this hotel through a foreign website. We didn't receive the welcome fruits and snacks on the first night as stated in the booking; we had to ask the front desk for them, but it was okay.

- Loretta (9/5): Superb - is a hidden gem in the middle of the city.Staff are evey helpful especially 王玉輝from the guest services and the electrical car drive 李師傅 gone out of their way to that care of us. Also 小賀 from the travel desk arranged a 3 days private tour for the 4 of us that help us enJoy Xiamen even more.
