- Ignacio (9/5): the staff is very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Initially was staying for 3 nights and got caught by the place and it - Relaxed and friendly environment
- Sara (8/5): Interesting and sweet feeling of community - One of those old school hostels that feels like becoming part of a community. I arrived worried for some bad reviews I read, and the first impression was a chaotic, young, maybe too laid-back atmosphere. But very soon I met very interesting people of every age, and everyone really sweet. I'm an introvert and I enjoy having my personal space, but here I found myself enjoying very much the nice communal flow. This place seemed to me one of those capable to gather cool travelers.
Workers are very welcoming and present, everything goes with a relaxed pace but goes. If you are looking for impeccable installations and you are very strict about cleaness, this is not the place, as it feels a bit like living in a shared university apartment. But volunteers do a great job in keeping clean the only two (renovated) bathrooms and the spacious and fully-equipped kitchen, so even if I'm a bit picky with order I felt ok. A further sink+mirror in the corridor made everything easier.
The mattress was comfy and the communal lounge too.
- Andrea (1/5): Good for two nights max - The volunteers at the hostel were very welcoming and helpful. They created a nice atmosphere to share with the guests. No true administration of this place. Nobody regulates the activities of the hostel. You can spend a whole night without sleeping because of the music/sound/noise and nobody will say anything. The cleanliness of the place is almost non-existent (kitchen equipment, refrigerator). In high season, they have no qualms about overbooking the hostel. The corridors become beds. There are only two bathrooms and two showers available. The condition of both is deplorable, with overcrowding, the place is even worse. Toilet paper is rarely replaced and soap in the bathroom is a luxury.
- Luiz (10/5): House decorations and good staff - House decorations and good staff nothing
- Kerstin (9/5): We had a double room with bathroom, and also used the common spaces. All totally fine and Kitchen has all that you need. -
- Gilad (10/5): Good vibe, good place, good location - I liked the people and the location very much Nothing
- Brooksdavi (7/5): Good -
- Giulia (4/5): Disappointing -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing hospitality very warm and kind owners of the hostel! Amazing location exactly accross from the supermarket !
- Lucas (7/5): Good -
- Gregor (4/5): Disappointing - Location is relatively good and the open-air kitchen is OK. Apart from that I talked a little bit with the owner and he seems to be a nice person! I stayed there only for 2 nights (thankfully) during Iemanja Festival and it was absolutely a mess! I booked a bed on a 6-bed room and since the hostel was full I ended up on a tiny horrible dorm with 8 beds (4 of them on the floor and the rest sort of upper beds). The mattress was the worst ever... and inside the room was super hot with mosquitos.
The first night at least they provided a fan, but the second night one of the volunteers took it without giving any explanation. I told her that we really need at least a fun inside that horrible room and she said that she would bring another one. I knew she was lying, she just dissappeared and never brought a fan to that room!
Therefore, I talked to the owner who offered me to put a mattress (decent quality) on the floor of a larger dorm with about 12 beds (it was full). Thanks God that dorm had air-conditioning. Eventually I managed to sleep I woke up and I left!
Just a couple of toilets for dozens of individuals... always very dirty!!!!!
- Lars (8/5): Relaxed - This place is run by a very beautiful and friendly couple. The location is good and it's pretty cheap. Nice backyard as well. Very good atmosphere in general. The facilities could use a little upgrade, but I guess they're working on fixing the place.
- Lucas (3/5): Poor -
- Holly (10/5): High quality. - Great place to stay, awesome hosts.
- Jeff (10/5): all is well - All good they are in the right way.
- Jonathan (6/5): Couple - Good location in Rio vermelho. The people helping out at the hostel was very kind! In general dirty and unhiginenic impression.
- Lorena (6/5): Pleasant -
- Britt (5/5): Passable -
- Hugomlopes (4/5): Avoid this hostel unless you can cope with next level dirtiness - The staff was kind. The location is great, across the street from a 24/7 supermarket, close by the beach and not far from the entertainment hotspot of Salvador. The pictures are outdated and do not correspond to the current conditions of the facilities. The toilets aren't ventilated and the rooms do not seem to have been cleaned in quite a while. The upper bunk beds aren't stable and there's only one ladder to be shared amongst the 3 bunks. The AC unit was quite noisy. The room floor was dirty and even had old chewing gum on it.
- Neeraj (6/5): Small but pleasant hostel, nice communal area - Nice communal area, friendly atmosphere. Cheap! Private room was extremely cramped and hardly furnished. Could do with a lamp, bedside table etc.
- Ben (9/5): Excellent value for the price - A welcoming place. Rasta and his partner took care of everything I needed. Fully equipped kitchen and nice room. The place is near a 24-hour supermarket, a 24-hour ATM and a laundromat. Strong and stable internet in the shared area
.
- Jules (10/5): great hostel with friendly staff next to the beach - Great hostel, the staff is really welcoming and the place is nice with air conditionning in the dorms.
The location is good 2 minutes away from the beach.
- Jules (10/5): Great hostel and staff ! - The hostel is well located with proximity to the beach. The staff is really nice and make efforts to create good vibes and nice decoration for the hostel.
The kitchen is modern with everything you need, and special shootout to Livia who teached me how to gengibre for my cough :)
