- Demon (7/5): - Down a quiet lane. It was a small space, and not roomy, but still had everything needed for a brief stay. Staff arranged a taxi to the airport at a fair price. The place itself was faor enough. The problem with Hanoi is: terrible traffic and disgusting rip-off cab drivers; a bunch of slime parasites!

The owner offered to move me to another hotel, but what I'd seen of Asia Cozy House was such a mess that I decided it was better to find my own replacement. There are plenty of better hotels in the Old Quarter that won't disrespect your time.

The staff were not very friendly and we didn't feel welcomed. The room was on 5th floor with no lift. It was the top floor so it was always very hot when we're returning. There was a fridge but no socket close by to plug it.

- Joel (10/5): Excellent Value for Money - Excellent location, in the heart of old town yet tucked away down a quiet alleyway. Minutes walk from streetfood, restaurants, and the second biggest market in Hanoi. Major attractions like train street, the water puppet theatre, and the lake are also within ~10 minutes walk. The owner spoke little English but was always very happy and smiley. Hot showers and the water pressure is perfect. Room is small, the bathroom in particular is poorly ventilated and crammed (shower right over the toilet). This is typical in Asia, especially for the price.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Fine. - I didn't stay at Asia Cozy House, as my room wasn't ready when I arrived (despite booking an extra night, and fore-warning the owners that I would be arriving after midnight, they seemed unaware that I even had a booking). This review is instead for Charming Hotel Hanoi, as that is ultimately where I ended up. It was fine for a no frills, budget stay. Cleanliness could be improved - towels and sheets were stained, but there was a lift for luggage and WiFi was good upstairs, spottier downstairs. Room size for both the twin and double rooms were good for me as a solo traveller.

It was good value for money, very good location in the old quarter. The walls to the bathroom were quite thin, there was no window in the room and the light flickered slightly.
- Ann (9/5): 10/10 would book here again. - Lucy was very accommodating and easy to communicate with. The place was neat. Toiletries and appliances mentioned on the site are complete. They provide cheap services like motorbike rentals and taxi services. Wifi is very fast. The area is quiet and accessible. Famous places around Old Quarter are just minutes walk from the hostel. She even allowed us to safely leave our luggages to roam around Hanoi after checkout while waiting for our next flight. Our room was at the 5th floor which was very difficult for us to go up and down, especially we had big luggages. Stairs were steep yet they helped us carry our bags throughout. Great value for money. We loved our stay.

Had cups and a kettle. The water was hot and I’ve been staying at a few places and hot water was scarce. This was the first place with a bathroom I liked and the room smelled great! Visibly clean bed and floor, comfortable pillows. Owner was lovely. Fridge was randomly on the floor corned and couldn’t fully open the bathroom door but enough space to get in and out. Not a whole lot of space to hang clothes.

On Checking in after a 5 hour flight, I was told to cancel booking and rebook at higher price. I get good discounts via booking.com but was suspicious of manager's claim there was a mistake with price. I had already cancelled another guest house in another part of Vietnam since they also asked a certain price on booking.com then messaged me asking for more money. I was finally allowed to check in at booked price but the next day, i was asked to sign an agreement that i would not write a bad review. The way to get good reviews is to look after guests and not try to charge more on check in. Vietnam Guest Houses must stop this practice and Booking.com needs to clean up this kind of malpractice.
