Penelope (1/5): Property manager and booking.com good helping us get a refund. - Property not ready when we arrived. Concerned that all the bedrooms and bathrooms had been used and not cleaned. No other rooms had been used. Called the property manager who said the owner had been responsible for the cleaning, that she would notify the owner. The owner turned up, with a bottle of wine, apologised, and apologised again, but said things like “I was here the other night with friends for a dinner party”, “there are sheets in the cupboard“, “I will lose my income“, “find somewhere to stay tonight and come back tomorrow, I’ll have it ready for you”. Somehow it felt quite wrong. I don’t think this property should be on the books if owner is using it for his parties, then implying that we could make the beds.
