Guest Reviews
- Darci (3/5): Wonderful area but overpriced hotel stay! - I will say that the room was clean and the outside had lovely flowers.
The only thing that is good about this property is the location! No hot water!! At one point we had no water at all for several hours!
No shampoo, conditioner, body wash or blow dryer.
Couldn’t close the window all the way so bugs got in.
no A/C.
The mattress is pretty thin.
The restaurant has small portions and is overpriced.
No one came in to clean the room.
There was no safe to keep valuables locked up. I had to take everything with me during my stay.
I would not stay here again and would not recommend this property.
Overpriced for what they give you. The only perk is the location. it is across the street from Tenorio national park and the rio celeste waterfall.
- Sergio (1/5): SCAM Alert - The only positive thing to say about this place is that it’s in front of the national park. ⚠️ Read carefully: take this advice from a local couple, STAY AWAY from this place. Pay attention as to how the SCAM works: they put a price in Booking to make it look like a good deal, you cannot cancel the reservation or else you’ll get penalized, you arrive to the destination (where there’s no phone signal) and they tell you that there’s a “mistake” on the price and want to charge you double the amount you booked for and blame it on Booking. You have no signal to make phone calls to Booking’s customer service, so you’re basically left with no other option than paying double the price or looking for a different hotel in the middle of nothing. The rooms are low to average, full of bugs, no A/C. They also own the restaurant “Soda El Parque” and “Soda Los Pilones” which are in front of the hotel, the food was also low to average and does not represent the quality of food you can find here in Costa Rica, you’re better of going to Blue River Brewery which is 10 mins down the road, the food there was AMAZING for the same price you’d pay here for bad quality food. It sucks for us as locals to give this kind of reviews for local businesses, but it sucks even more for you to be a tourists, coming from far away to end up with such bad surprises. Note that we were chatting with the hotel days prior to the reservation and they never told us about an issue with the price; they waited for us to get there as they knew we would be basically obligated to stay. Seriously, stay away.
- Macarena (5/5): Not a great stay - Just the proximity to Rio Celeste waterfall - 2 minute walk Very ran down
Smelled old
Towels and sheets were old
No air conditioning
Bed wasn’t comfortable
Restaurant closed at 4pm
- Veronica (7/5): Lovely Grounds with much flora and loved the animals and birds surrounding us on this property - Breakfast was really good! Service was top notch Bed sheets seemed itchy and lighting was poor.
- Georgina (7/5): Good -
- Mark (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mariella (10/5): Great stay - Great surroundings. Very close to rio celeste waterfall just opposite the entrance. Staff so nice and helpful. Breakfast was very good too. Room was nice, very minimal but jad hot water and tv. Parking not a problem. A good restaurant nearby Room floor a bit slippery but it was raining so it was very humid.
- Betty (7/5): Average - More or better pillows. More blankets.
- Charlie (7/5): Good - The staff were very friendly and helpful. Good location for the national park. The room was very basic; could do with a lamp and a safe, for example.
- Richard (3/5): Poor -
- Magdalena (9/5): Well located and very quiet in low season - Very nice Room with a big terrace. The location is right in front of the park entrance and behind the accomodation is a nice little farm.
Nearby is a very nice restaurant to eat for the evening (Tapir), because after 4 o'clock everything is closed around the hotel. Very quiet in low season und nice manager at the hotel The staff in the restaurant at the hotel could be nicer.
- Chantale (10/5): We booked last minute as we weren’t certain how long it would take to go through customs and get our rental car and they - The grounds were well maintained and the staff were fantastic! Beds were really comfy. Nothing.
- Carly (9/5): This is the perfect place to stay while you explore the area. - Prefect location, great staff, easy access to lots of activities. Everyone was very helpful and it is part of what made Rio Celeste our favorite place on our trip.
- Lloyd (10/5): Exceptional -
- Astrida (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location. Magical.
- Stephen (8/5): Great for a short stay while visiting National Park. - A no nonsense budget effective stay .
Right opposite entrance to National park.
- Brittany (10/5): Perfect location right across the street from Rio Celeste waterfall hike. - The property and gardens were beautiful! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was great and very reasonably priced. I wish there were hot showers.
- Lauren (1/5): Don’t book!! - The staff were ok.
Welcome drink on arrival. Had to hunt down the receptionist on arrival.
Everything is damp, wet and soggy.
WiFi is shocking
The lodge is essentially in the car park for Rio Celeste and bikers use this as a playground throughout the night.
The rooms are unbelievably dark, nothing like the photos on here.
The shower only runs cold water.
We left after the first night, could endure it for the remainder of our booking.
Very limited restaurants available, and plan to eat before 4/5pm.
We booked Casa Areno Lodge, about 20 minutes drive away. Absolutely stunning place and owners are fantastic.
- Spamilton (8/5): Very good - Location
Easy to book tours
Breakfast Restaurant closes early (though they did check with us at 5 to see if we needed them to stay open until 6).
Had to get them to clean up all the dead bugs in one of the rooms (they didn't realize I had booked a room with 2 beds).
- Diana (7/5): A good spot for an early start at Rio Celeste. We arrived in the afternoon, to pretty big crowds. G - Location, right across from the Rio Celeste hike. Very clean, new Casita. Getting locked into the bathroom for 1/2 an hour! The doorknob malfunctioned and it took a long time to get me out, to the point of being distressing. To their credit, staff were right there to help, but it was upsetting.
- Jeremy (9/5): We had a wonderful stay here. There is a restaurant on site and so that was a plus. The room is basic but provided us - The property is in front of the Tenorio national park
- Hai (10/5): Exceptional - We had a beautiful view from our room.
The location was terrific.
- Eleonora (8/5): Right in front of the Park entrance to the waterfall - Perfect location right in front of the Park entrance. Good value for a budget place.
Rafael was great, he gave us the room early and welcomed us with a cold drink.
Seats at the porch would be great for being able to spend time outdoors, as a small improvement. We didn’t stay for breakfast but 8am sounds a bit late for a place where excursions start early in the day, maybe consider starting at 7am.
- Mackenna (10/5): Exceptional - good location
The animals and the tour on the farm was unique
Perfect food
good internet
- Martin (10/5): Perfect day - Perfect location
is amazing the farm is aditional but is nice.
loved my room
- Lucile (8/5): Very good - They offer you a drink when you arrive :)
Good advice and contacts for activities around I got a bit cold during the night. Maybe they should offer share blanket
- Elena (7/5): Good - Front desk staff not friendly.
- William (2/5): Not fun - The food
- Romero (8/5): Very good - The cabins were very pretty, the colors in them should be more inclined to slow the brain. They need some shelves, in the bathroom and little more lightining, for those of us who wear contacts The staff was wonderful.
They need to let the guests know about the animals in the barn, they are a great asset to the whole experience.
The breakfast was very good.
Thank you Nothing.
- Gilbert (7/5): Good - We would have liked to have small tables besides the bed. Table and chair on patio outside... Very muddy just ourside the room. Wifi not working all time. (connection Wifi ok but no internet...
- Tom (3/5): DO NOT STAY HERE. I would never book a place that does not have what is advertised - clean 1) Absolutely NO hot water. Staff even showed me the simple use of the shower.
2). TV remote was not programmed to control the TV. They exchanged it, but of course the new remote was NOT programmed either.
I could have chosen another lodge for more the half the cost and had no TV and no hot water and equal cleanliness.
- Dalia (9/5): Superb -
- Suellen (8/5): We enjoyed our stay! The older gentleman farmer was extremely kind and very willing to share with us - They served a typical Costa Rican breakfast which we enjoyed. It was very tasty! There were two other menu choices as well. The shower temperature was difficult to adjust. One of us had a cold shower.
It was difficult to read at night time in bed due to poor lighting.
- Alexander (8/5): Very good - Very convenient place near the entrance to the National Park, which allows visitors not to pay for parking No complains
