We were made feel very welcome by owners with a glass of wine on arrival. Bedrooms were very small but ok for such a short stay

• Grant (9/5): Well worth going all the way to Lightning Ridge to stay at Marja's "Hut" - Marja is an excellent host. Very caring and committed to her guests' comfort. Asked our thoughts and any suggestions we may have. Really wanted honest feedback which we gave openly and willingly. Suggested sightseeing spots and places to eat, very helpful with little hints eg how great the Tourist Info place is - a MUST visit early in your stay, to efficiently manage to see as many as possible. "The Hut" is really in town but doesn't feel like it as there's empty space around us as well, being on the edge of town. Extremely clean and very comfy. No neighbourhood or street noise - BLISS! Marja even turned on the best sunsets way out there in the outback! Nothing.

• Jordan (10/5): Please book this place for your stay, it is a wonderful little space for all kinds of families and every detail is thoug - Marija an her partner is so wonderful, made us feel at home with their warm hospitality having coffee in the morning together and went out of their way to accommodate us. We arrived later in the evening and she showed us where everything was with the place. Perfect size, super close walk to everything, beds were comfy, shower pressure was new and everything was clean and tidy. Definitely recommend for your stay at lighting ridge. Honestly cannot fault. One of the best places I have stayed.

The property comes fully equipped with all the necessities for a comfortable stay, ensuring you have everything you need during your visit. The location couldn't be better! Situated right in the town center, we loved being able to walk everywhere. IGA supermarket, charming cafes, and the local gallery are all just minutes away on foot. Fur babies are welcome (fee applies). The hosts were very responsive and helpful, providing great local tips and recommendations for making the most of our stay. This place is truly a home away from home, offering both comfort and convenience. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore the area while enjoying quality accommodation. None.

Maria was an excellent Host and was very informed of what to see and do in town. • Rishi (9/5): Would happily stay here again - Lovely little self contained unit within easy walking distance to restaurants/pubs etc. Comfy beds, plenty of heating/cooling and fresh water. There was even a lovely cash wash in the shower (along with shampoo/conditioner/shower gel). Marija the host is a gem, and was not only ready to receive me as I arrived, but also responded quickly to queries on messages. She even invited me to poker night at the club. Super friendly lady and great place! Lots of mosquitos (but that’s everywhere in Lightning Ridge, not specific to the property).

• Phoum (10/5): An excellent retreat, fully equipped with everything you'll need! - The Hut was well equipped with everything I needed. The air conditioning provided a fantastic retreat from the blistering hot days in Lightning Ridge. The accommodation felt like a home away from home with rooms containing a good variety of pillows and even items like mozzie coils and bug zappers. The cleanliness throughout every room was immaculate. Marija, the host, was awesome and gave great advice and background information about things to do. I'll definitely be back! Nothing!

On the way there our trailer broke down and when we finally arrived late at night we were offered food and drinks, and we were able to check out later the next day while our trailer was getting fixed. Highly recommend the Holiday Hut if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Lightning Ridge.
• Pol (9/5): A lovely place to stay - This is such a lovely place to stay with a cosy and welcoming vibe. It’s pet-friendly, and the owner is incredibly kind and attentive. The space is a bit small, but it’s really well-designed and very comfortable. Everything was spotlessly clean and nice and quiet. I saw some reviews mention issues with the air conditioning, but we didn’t have any problems—it kept the space perfectly cool even on a hot night.

The host was always helpful, providing us with useful tips and information about Lightning Ridge, which added to our experience of this unique town. The peaceful surroundings and warm hospitality made it a truly enjoyable stay.

As we were staying in the heat of the summer and a heat wave was passing through, the aircon was not able to cope. I guess it would be fine on slightly cooler days.
• Thorben (10/5): Extraordinary adventure in the Australian Outback! - I had a fantastic stay at the Holiday Hut in Lightning Ridge! Marija, the host, was incredibly kind and welcoming - she even had a small Christmas tree set up in my kitchen, which made everything feel so thoughtful and personal. The hut is brand new, beautifully furnished, and very well-equipped. There were chilled water bottles waiting for me, the kitchen had everything needed to prepare a simple meal, and the living area was cozy with a sofa, small TV, and, most importantly, air conditioning to keep cool in the Outback heat. The bedrooms were very comfortable, with great mattresses and plenty of pillows, and everything was spotlessly clean. The bathroom was modern and had a lovely and modern shower. You can tell Marija really put thought into ensuring her guests have the best experience possible. The location is peaceful but convenient - just a short walk to the supermarket and the local bowling club, which serves surprisingly good food for such a small town. Marija and her partner went above and beyond to make my stay memorable. We spent a few lovely hours on their terrace, and I learned so much about the area’s mining history. With their tips, I even found a few small opal chips, which made my visit even more exciting! For anyone wanting to channel their inner Indiana Jones and experience an authentic Outback adventure with some gemstone hunting, the Holiday Hut is the perfect place. Highly recommended! I was looking for an adventure, and I definitely found it! But keep in mind that this is the real Australian Outback - make sure to avoid arriving in the peak summer heat and be prepared to adapt to the conditions of remote rural living;)
• Paul (9/5): A great brand new location that is very different to the normal motel. Very personalised and fun! - A unique property to stay at in a unique town in Australia! The Holiday Hut is owned and run by two fabulous hosts, husband and wife team Maria and Zel. This delightful cabin is essentially brand new and I was only the 5th guest to stay. Nothing is too much trouble and Maria is happy to help however she can. The cabin is off the grid and self-sufficient for water and power. But inside, it is just like any other room with modern bathroom facilities, decent kitchen with new appliances and two reasonably sized double rooms, plus extra accom in the lounge if needed. Everything is brand new inside, so it's pretty special. If you are lucky, you may be able to enjoy a chat and a drink with the hosts after dinner, who are interesting and intelligent to talk to along with a great sense of humour plus super friendly. Location is conveniently located minutes walk or drive from the main drag in town. It is like staying with friends, .... but you only just met them! Nothing I didn't like.
