Guest Reviews
- Marcell (10/5): Fantastic days in Cairo! - The owner, Mr. Asraf saved our day several times by helping us to enter the Giza plateau (by pulling us out from an embarrassing situation we caused to ourselves at the entry (confiscation of a gadget, khm…)), by giving us sandwiches, water and scarfs, by organizing a whole day custom program etc. Exceptional service indeed! The neighborhood is “as usual” in Egypt, not a western cultural island, but it is a given, it’s the same everywhere.
- Naïma (10/5): - I liked everything. This family is very nice and makes you feel at home. Thanks to Islam (the son) who was there at this time of the year. He cared and helped with everything I could need. Thanks to the family that received me at their table every night. Clean, comfortable, well located. /
- De Girolamo (10/5): - We ended up at Secret of Horus after our original booking didn’t work out, and it turned out to be the best part of our trip. The room had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. What really makes this place unique is the family who runs it. They welcomed us very warmly and made us feel at home from the first moment. Throughout our stay, they were kind, helpful, and always ready to support us with anything we needed. Their hospitality and genuine friendliness made the experience feel very personal and authentic. If you are looking for a simple place with warm, caring hosts, this is a great choice. We would definitely come back again.

- Guest (10/5): I definitely advice you to book this place and you will never regret it! - Ashraf and all his family were just amazing. We felt at home since the very first time and they helped us so much and were so kind. They provided us with all the necessary things, making sure we were safe and doing fine. The room was very good, clean, with a small refrigerator. It's located in a very typical Cairo quarter, Giza... We loved it! We loved the breakfast! The terrace with the pyramid view! Everything about their huge hospitality. Cannot reccomend it enough, go and book it and you'll see! Thank you guys, see you next time!! Nothing
- Santos (10/5): - This family hospitality is an exception in today's world. I arrived at 5 am and they woke up to cook me food. They offered me to take a shower before my bus to Aswan free of charge. They even offered me free gifts. An experience to repeat for sure.
- crazvy (2/5): dissapointing - the host tried to be kind and helpful with all the requests, free tea, breakfast and supper although it was not included, AC worked well, pretty close to the pyramids and Grand Museum, I walked there they promised a car at the airport, I waited 2 hour and didn't arrive, not very clean room, windows look to neighbouring buldings, I did not opened them, pretty shady walls, small bricks, very little cement, look like they could colapse at anny minute, very noisy, dirty and smelly all the city, facilitated some services probably at double the price, hotel pictures are edited, not real, the "Exceptional" reviews are probably from family anf friends, most are from arab countries
- Liam (10/5): - Amazing hotel with great staff, from the moment we arrived the hosptitality was first class. We cannot thank Ashraf, Islam and Bozo enough, they are truly an amazing family. They booked us a privare driver for saqqara which included incredible food and a visit to the papyrus museum, wgich i highly recomend. They organized a private boat trip up and down the nile for us which was stunning. There was food and refreshments available all the time, the room was perfect for me and my mate, the rooftop terrace had a view of the great pyramid. I recomend this hotel to anyone, thank you again.
- tomas (9/5): Fine place with friendly owner, thank you der friends - Feell like with long time friends, nice rooftop and good brekfast
Confianza 100%
- Dhammika (10/5): Awesome 🤩 - The hotel I booked before going to Cairo did not have a room, so I found a hotel on booking.com called Secret of Horus. My check-in time was 12.00pm, but they prepared a room for me to check in at 8.00am without any extra charge. The owner of the hotel, his son, daughter and staff are really nice. Even though I am a solo traveler, they suggested the best restaurants, shopping malls and markets for me, and everything made my tour very good. They treated me like a member of their own family. The breakfast was delicious. They offered me tea every time I was there.. Every day I spent with them, I felt like I was at home.. So I highly recommend Secret of Horus Hotel to anyone traveling to Egypt.. I am really lucky to have a hotel with such good people.. When I went out alone, they called me and looked after me a lot.. Another thing is that many Egyptians expect money after doing something, but no one in this family asked me for any extra money.. Even though I gave them some money voluntarily, they did not take it.. Thanks again Mr Asraf.. Nothin..
- vasiliki (10/5): BOOK IT, THERE IS NO BETTER PLACE IN GIZA. - I have never met such helpful and kind people in a hotel before.
First of all, regarding the location, the hotel is very well situated, in a central spot.
As for the facilities, the hotel was very clean, the breakfast was nice, and they even ask you what time you would like to have it.
When it comes to the people at Secret of Horus, you won’t find better ones!!! We met the father and the son, who helped us with everything we needed. The father welcomed us with dinner as soon as we arrived, the next day he offered us lunch without us even asking, he drove us to the pyramids himself to help us get in, he gave us gifts, and both he and his son helped us on our last day when we were about to miss our flight — they packed and sent our things by taxi to where we were, since we didn’t have time to return to the room… and all this without asking for a single penny. They are truly amazing people who make your stay even more worthwhile!
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!

- Artuel (10/5): Perfect. - Everything! The people who took care of me and my room were so nice and I’ll never forget the care that they took for me, making sure that everything feels like home and just fine. I can’t be grateful enough. I loved everything about Secret of Horus.
- Andrew (9/5): A nice family run hotel, great value for money. - Very friendly family run hotel. Very nice welcome, even when we arrived very late. They arranged collection and return transport to the airport.. Also extremely close to the Pyramids. Breakfast was very nice but not too suitable for children. As my kids are a bit fussy.
- YAN (9/5): -
- ROU ROU (10/5): -
- Yassin (10/5): Very Nice - Everything was good, near the pyramids, the owners were so kind with me, i recommand to everyone
- Ali (8/5): Very good - Special thanks to Islam, the hotel manager, for the warm welcome and hospitality. I will definitely come back again.
- Mohamad (9/5): Superb -
- Kurzaa (10/5): Exceptional - I can't say a bad thing about our stay at this place — the hosts' hospitality was unmatched, the room was very clean, and the breakfast served was unbelievably tasty. If you are planning a trip to Giza and Cairo, you should choose Secret of Horus!
- Liz (8/5): Clean Comfortable Friendly - The family who run the hotel are very kind and considerate. I arrived at 1.30 in the morning and they made food for me in their apartment. If you need help with anything they will be there for you. The beds are spotless and extremely comfortable. An Uber to the pyramids or the GEM costs about €1.50 The only negative is that it is on an unlit back street. I only stayed one night so it was not a problem, but as a solo traveller I wouldn't have felt comfortable walking there at night. However, this is a great, cheap place to stay for a short time in Giza
- Lucia (10/5): Exceptional - Ashraf was a brilliant host, so welcoming, kind, and helped us find our way around. Would highly recommend.
- Konstantinos (10/5): Exceptional - The place is 15 minutes walking from the Sphinx entrance of the Pyramids, the family that own it are very friendly, budget price and good breakfast!
- Shalian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Georgina (9/5): Friendly family Bed and Breakfast 😊 - Very friendly family, very accommodating and generous 😊
- Ping (10/5): A wonderful experience at Secret of Horus - Secret of Horus is a small home hotel which provides only 4 rooms for the guests.İ was so lucky successfully booking one room with king size bed for only 6 dolar and stayed there 2 nights for totally 12 dolars.the hotel is very clean ,i saw with my own eyes, the clean lady changes and washes sheets after the guests check out.the boss of the hotel Mr Ashraf s very kind and helpful, inviting me to have traditional Egypt dinner with his wife and daughter the day i arrived, and took me with his nostalgic car to the pyramids the next morning. He helped me to find a camel with the official price 500 Egypt pound per hour ,that prevented me from being scammed. İ will definitely advise my friends and relatives come and stay at this hotel if they visit the Pyramids. Thanks so much Mr Ashraf
🙏
- Bo (10/5): Local hospitality at its finest - We had a fantastic stay at the Secret of Horus! We stayed with Ashraf and his family, the owners of the guesthouse, and it was truly an exceptional experience.
We arrived early in the day and were immediately offered a meal, even though this wasn't included in the reservation. From the start, we had many great conversations with Ashraf, who later invited us to have dinner with him and his family in their home, which is in the same building. It was a beautiful and heartwarming evening.
Ashraf did everything to help us during our trip. He owns a small shop near the pyramids and has all the right connections. He arranged two incredible days of tours for us, all at an amazing price. On the first day, we explored the pyramids by camel, including the Great Pyramid and another one nearby. On the second day, he arranged a driver who took us on a full-day tour to Memphis, Saqqara, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (with the royal mummies), and the Egyptian Museum. We had no fixed plans beforehand, and Ashraf made everything happen smoothly and spontaneously.
On top of that, we were invited again to have dinner with Ashraf and his family on our final evening, which made us feel incredibly welcome. This entire stay was a rich and unforgettable local experience, the kind you could never have in a large hotel.
In short: an absolute recommendation if you're looking for something truly special. The room was clean and perfectly fine, we enjoyed breakfast every day, and we were lucky enough to share two lovely evening meals with the family. A stay we'll never forget.
- Evgenii (6/5): Good value for money for backpackers - It located within the native district, for me it was rather positive experience. These are some rooms in a private house and the host family was very helpful and provided me all the necessary service. All the services are basic. I wouldn't recommend it for a family
- Mark (10/5): Perfect stay - The host was extremely accommodating. He offered me tea and lunch upon arrival and I was invited into his house
He sorted out a camel tour for me around the pyramids and it was one of the highlights of my trip! He gave me a souvenir upon departure too
Location is lovely and the place is very well named
- Esraa (1/5): Bad - Dear I recently stayed at hotel for two nights from Check in 28. Upon check-in, I fully paid for my stay. However, the reception requested additional charges ,which were not mentioned earlier
- Naieem (8/5): Very good -
- Max (10/5): Amazing views and lovely hospitality! - This is as good as it gets for budget accomodation! The pyramids are visible from the roof, incredible food is on offer with a large menu and the staff are incredibly nice and concerned with your comfort. I cannot speak highly enough of this hotel and the staff running it :) Trust me, don’t look elsewhere, this is the place you want!
- Anonymous (10/5): Thank you 🙏 - I must first say that I am pleasantly surprised and very happy to have had the honor of meeting Mr. Ashraf and his family and friends. Mr. Ashraf did absolutely everything to make my stay perfect and I will never forget it. I am grateful. Location, food everything... Mr. Ashraf also limited the excursions and suggested only the best. They will also make you feel safe and arrange only the best people for you. I will definitely come back again. Everything is great.

And they even have laundry service !!!!!! And they have the real deal in organic 100 percent perfumes and sandalwood oil unlike the others that try to tell u it's real .let's not mention last minute transport help to and from the airport as all that wasn't enough ,they accomadted a last minute tour of the light show at the pyramids with tuk tuk and shisha was awesome .this is a truly hidden Gem right at the pyramids .do not hesitate and book I promise you will not find better prices for everything and since and good family.

They invited me over for dinner the same day I arrived and Mr Ashraf's wife is a great cook. The breakfast was delicious and home made. The view from the terrace is impressive, I could not believe my eyes when I first saw how close the pyramids are! The property is located on a quiet street and the mattress in new and super comfortable. Also the rooms are clean and the wifi is fast! ( Hard to find).
