Guest Reviews
- Michael (8/5): Very happy with the service the room was clean and comfortable. Would’ve had a higher score if there were private bathro - Location was good The location
- Guy (7/5): - Great location, lovely town. Pub food good! Friendly staff -shared facilities and room tired and shared facilities overly close to the room. Room very noisy from the pub downstairs and other guests (dividing walls very thin!) No sink in the room. cheap stay but somewhat overpriced for what you actually receive
- Margaret (5/5): Room was clean and comfy enough for 2 night but the bathroom and toilet left a lot to be desired!! - It was in a great position for the function we were attending I knew there was shared bathrooms but they were not clean…..
- Sharon (8/5): -
- Thomas (10/5): -
- Angela (8/5): - Lovely pub. The room was clean and we were close to the shared bathroom which was handy. It was abit noisy but I guess that is what you would expect staying in a pub, but probably wouldn't stay again. It was a little pricey for what you get.
- Brenda (6/5): -
- Ginette (9/5): Will definitely stay again. - The location was excellent. Basic, clean accommodation for an overnight stay. The bed was very comfortable, lovely clean linen. Highly recommend.
- Margaret (6/5): The facilities at the hotel were old but clean. The toilet and bathroom located down a flight of stairs was a challenge - The location was excellent. The dinners were very good. The guest rooms clean and comfortable. The location of bathroom and toilet down a flight of stairs from my room. As I am an older guest the night time trip down the stairs was a challenge. More ensuite bathrooms are needed. Breakfast would also be a welcome addition.
- Jude (1/5): Never going to step into the place again! - I couldn’t beat to stay! It was too demoralising! Drove back home through the night… Room staff atmosphere- all of it!
- Guest (9/5): -
- Roger (10/5): Like always “ will be back “ - Great value for money
And just everything is easy
- Brett (7/5): - Location above the pub, which had great food Bit pricy for the age of the facilities
- Rodd (10/5): -
- James (5/5): I felt unsafe and unwelcome - The sheets and bedding were good. I felt unsafe and unwelcome in this accomodation
I booked it because it was the cheapest (but not cheap) place I could stay for a local workshop.
I’ve travelled a lot and stayed at a lot of places, budget accomodation included, but this was the worst.
My non smoking room smelt like a 40 a day smoker had lived in it.
When I got there i opened the curtain to see a bench outside with cigarettes and an ashtray set up,
The hotel was signposted everywhere as non smoking accomodation.
When I asked the bar staff about it they were rude and dismissive and said they didn’t run the accomodation but would ask people to not smoke there.
I came back to my room an hour later and there was a man sitting smoking on the bench directly outside my room.
This filled my room with smoke but also meant I could be seen in my room and had to shut the curtains during my stay.
The balcony outside my window is accessible to the street.
My outside window had a simple old fashioned latch. The accomodation is also open to the empty pub at night.
I knew the karaoke was on Friday night. What I was surprised at was that the accomodation was open to the front bar and music up a short flight of steps and that despite no one else staying that night they put me in the room closest to the bar and the music.
The next night the live music and loud drunks went on till midnight again. I defy anyone to sleep through either.
Both nights I woke in the night to hear people coming in through the unsecured outside door.
I was booked for three nights but left after two. I paid for another hotel just so I didn’t have to return to this place.
Booking.com can verify this.
On top of all that the bathrooms and toilet are in worn 1950s condition with no repair or maintenance.
There is no fridge in the room, no glass and no cup.
Hard pass.
- Jeanne (5/5): -
- Mulhall (7/5): -
- Glenda (6/5): Not as expected - Location
Beds and linen were very comfortable Staff person - no smile, no welcome, no information given
Bathrooms were dirty
Basins, and bath/ shower rusty. Cold tap not working
Noise...karaoke stopped about midnight, then staff dragged tables and chairs
Verandah foor padlocked....fire risk??
Only 1 power point. No powerboats
Only 1 light...not strong enough to read by.
No bedside lights
- Scott (9/5): Great staff and facilities - Great location Cheaper Saturday rates
- Rose (6/5): - Staff were very friendly and helpful. Toilet and bathrooms.
- Lavina (8/5): -
- Anton (7/5): -
- Linda (9/5): - Location is great, staff are welcoming and friendly.
Room and shared bathrooms were clean.
- Theresa (5/5): I have previously stayed at this property on two occasions and had no issue with noise despite it being pub accommodatio - Location and price Bar staff put on very loud music on whilst cleaning up for the last hour before they closed, patrons had all left.
Woman sat on a seat on the balcony outside my window smoking and talking loudly on her mobile late in the evening.
Sleep was impossible until very late because of noise.
- Maharjan (6/5): Needs fixing of crumbled brick walls, and flea pest control. Good housekeeping. - The easy and convenient location. Easy onboarding and good maintenance of housekeeping. Good housekeeping but needs proper pest control and cleaning. Found Cockroaches inside which probably got in from veranda with the old locked door. Had to throw them out at night. On room 8, the sand/dust on the wall/ ceiling had fallen on the big bed with one of us getting an allergic reaction to either the dust or flea bites.
Would have been a quiet and easy stay if we didn't run into the issues. Since it is a historical building, there are things like crumbles and paint that are old and need a refurbishment.
Also, we struggled to find proper drinkibg water in the facilities after the bar was closed.
- Marion (7/5): Suited my needs - Location great
Quiet I think the bathroom could do with a renovation
- Daniel (4/5): The booking went smoothly but no breakfast in a Country Pub??? - Good central location No breakfast available and no bedside light.
- jemma (9/5): -
- Marc (8/5): -
- Dinesh (4/5): -
- Phil (6/5): Really nice friendly staff serving good food and drinks. - Excellent location in the heart of town, attractive heritage type building, easy parking, excellent food. No en-suite option, and shared bathroom facilities are in need of upgrading
- Daniel (7/5): -
- Adrian (6/5): - Dinner was outstanding. Bathrooms old, needs work paint peeling rusty sink and bath and no mirror
- Murray (8/5): Friendly and convenient hotel - Great central location. Rooms clean and comfortable For the price charged, the shared bathrooms need to be better
- Sung Hon (2/5): Being Rip off - probably it is peak season and charged for $259. Being r - Location. AUD $259 a night. No bathroom, no table, no chairs, no glasses or cup in the room, very tiny room with 2 bed, basically nothing in the room with a smell. Awful TV set location in the room. Very old hotel and not poplar maintain in the room - only 2 PowerPoint in the room and one plug in the lightning. The other plug in the TV in the ceiling.
- Tina (1/5): Prison experience - Location Accommodation is not up to standard especially the bathrooms. Charging hotel prices for worse than hostel quality. I slept with ear plugs on but the music was blasting til midnight and sound easily travelled from the street and surrounds. Then first thing in morning the cleaners started.
I’ve never been incarcerated but if you’re after a prison experience this must come close.
- Yeshi (8/5): - Bedroom Need refrigerator, microwave and toilet in upstairs
- Styman (4/5): - Balcony doors were locked. Couldn't be opened. Total fire risk if the corridor was on fire. No other windows in room.
- Katrina (4/5): Very dissappointing -
- Christopher (10/5): -
- David (8/5): -
- Kellie (9/5): Suited what we needed - Bed was fantastic. Very quiet after 10. Bathroom
- Jo (8/5): -
- Booysen (6/5): Enjoyed our stay - Great location .
Good room Bathrooms could do with a Reno
Balcony has lots of potential but at the moment no seating out there
- Cathy (9/5): Great overnight stay and we would book again - Clean and great location Room was a little dark.
- Maureen (8/5): - Location. Comfortable and quiet. Close to the train station. A short walk. Price of in-house meals and drinks. Bathroom needed updating.
- Anna (8/5): Loved staying here. - Convenient, very clean, air con. We were able to book a single night. Most places in Berry will only take a two night booking. The bathroom had not bench space and the single shower off the balcony really needs a toilet .
- White (6/5): - Location Shared bathroom. Up and down stairs
- Barton (6/5): Great staff, not great accommodation. - The food was great, large selection of beers on tap. In the centre of town. Staff were quite friendly and helpful. There was a music festival in Berry on the Sunday we were there and all the accommodation in town was booked out, which is how we ended up staying at the pub. It seemed they hadn't planned on a busy weekend and the queues for drinks were very long.
The accommodation was very basic, small rooms( ours had only one powerpoint), and the communal bathrooms are very old and rundown. Not a great advertisement for the Feros Group.
- Kim (7/5): -
- Jennifer (8/5): -
- Paula (5/5): -
- Matthew (9/5): -
- Phillip (9/5): A1 - Very good All great
- Jo (4/5): Totally understood it was a room in a pub property which was fine. Bathrooms need an upgrade - The state of the bathrooms were terrible
- Katrina (9/5): Berry hotel - Amazing service
Beautiful comfy beds
Always my 1st choice
- Graham (4/5): -
- Joanne (2/5): - The food was extremely nice The shared bathrooms and toilets were all so very old (original) paint peeling off hand basins, bathtubs old and stained, grout in tiles black, I was absolutely disgusted. The bedroom was very small, 1bed, 2 cheap looking bedside tables and 1 small side table with a kettle and a couple of coffees.
- Joanne (6/5): Friendly staff, great food and local wines, cozy and clean room. - The staff were really welcoming and helpful, the food was exceptional. As a solo female traveller I felt safe.
Parking onsite. The power went out through the night.
- Jenny (5/5): Good for one night - No bed lamps. No fridge. No second key
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Anne (5/5): Clean and convenient - The history of the building. Bed excellent. Clean. Noisy. Suggest to panel off the staircase to reduce noise
- Kylie (6/5): Ok as it was just one night - Had character Not glamorous but did the job
- Caitlin (9/5): Superb - Room was as expected and as described - good value for money, staff were friendly, room was clean and cosy. Amenities were as described and expected.
- Amie (8/5): Very good -
- Julie-anne (4/5): Disappointing - Lovely old pub, we understood the issues of staying in such an establishment. Price for the room was exorbitant. My husband thought we could have bought the space. Bathrooms were dangerous, Regards stepping in bathtubs for a shower, limited places to hold on. Numerous steps with limited railing.
- Buzz (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (3/5): Great little town and community - Nothing much Far to expensive for very basic accommodation
- Meighan (2/5): Very poor -
- Andy (7/5): Good -
- Rebelo (8/5): Perfect location. Fabulous room if you're travelling alone. - The hotel is clearly not new but its been renovated and the room was fabulous! The bed was comfortable and the room was nice and clean. I would recommend it to a single person. Perfect location! The stairs are a bit hard to navigate.
- Naomi (7/5): Good -
- Blake (10/5): Gorgeous, easy night in Berry. - I loved the room and staying at the beautiful pub. The room was comfy and the shared bathrooms clean and with great water pressure. The bar were mostly good, though when we initially checked in, they treated us as if we were a bit of an inconvenience.
- Branks (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cathal (6/5): Pleasant -
- Steve (7/5): Good -
- John (1/5): Very expensive not value for money for a twelve by room would not recommend it to anyone - There wasn’t any
- Steven (7/5): Good -
- Rob (5/5): Plenty of character. Adequate for a solo traveller passing through. - Location was good. Nice pub to have a drink/bite to eat in In the email confirmation they did clearly disclose that the bathroom facilities were shared. I have no issue with this given i'm on my own. The bathrooms are the original bathrooms though (50+ years old) and almost falling apart.
I definitely wouldn't stop there wth the family for even a night.
- Murrell (7/5): Good -
- Christine (3/5): Ok for one night only, but not any longer. - Location Room had no working outlets to charge phone or make a cup of tea. No where to place clothes.
- Steven (7/5): Good - Affordable room, bistro has great food and the pub area is good to have a few drinks and watch sport of the TV.
- Konz (6/5): Its value for money when compared to other expensive accommodation in Berry. - Bed very comfortable Jukebox thumping when trying to sleep,
- Ian (9/5): Very good 👍 - Relaxing friendly helpful staff, nice just nice place to stay, dinner was great the chicken snitty was the best ever had, the bed was very comfortable and it wasn't a issue with share bathroom and dunny, I'll be back again Nothing comes to mind, oh one thing shampoo and conditioner in those little bottles would help just a thought
- Wall (10/5): Exceptional - Great feed, Friendly staff and comfy bed.
- Amanda (5/5): Central old style Australian pub accommodation (heritage Hotel) Central - Central location Old style country pub accommodation. Much as expected.
- Paul (3/5): Disappointing - Location Live Cockroaches in the showers
- Dominik (7/5): Good -
- Savannah (4/5): Don't stay if you like to sleep - Location is great on Berry main rd. Great pub down stairs. It's cheap for a reason so you can't expect too much. Room was fine but the noises all night kept me up. From the noise outside to the floor creaking really badly if someone walked down the hall way to the fire alarm going off for no reason. Then the cleaner came in around 330am and started vacumming at the bottom of the stairs them they had music on.
Litterally had zero sleep.
Unfortunately even at that price I wouldn't stay there again.
- Andrew (9/5): Perfect stopover place to stay - Great location . Great staff All good
- Walter (2/5): I wouldn’t stay there again. - It was at the centre of town For such a high price the room was very small and a share out of date bathroom down the hall not acceptable at almost $200
- Christopher (10/5): Excellent!!! - It's a great old-school pub. Nothing
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Youssef (9/5): Superb - Authentic place Rooms are a bit old
- Clare (8/5): Good value stay - Modern, cosy and renovated bedrooms with kettle and tea/coffee facilities. The sheets and bed were very comfy and despite it being upstairs to the pub, it was quiet at night. Overall great value stay. The bathrooms could do with a renovation. The showers, toilets and sinks still appear to be the original furnishings, eg, the taps in the sink are still separated into cold and hot taps (no mixer) which means you can't run warm water.
- Obedoza (9/5): Superb -
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barbs (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (5/5): Had a good stay, need more accessible toilets - Food was good Need toilet in all bathrooms
- Servant (10/5): Exceptional -
