Guest Reviews
- BISHAL (10/5): -
- Henry (8/5): We enjoy staying at this motel and it is our go to place whenever we pass through Wawa. - It is a convenient location and we have stayed here before. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. The room is a little dated and could use updating.
- Dana (5/5): Would stay elsewhere in town next time personally. - We liked that it was a family chalet so we got see stay all together. No AC, super hot! One of the fans in the bedroom didn't work. The noise from the highway was pretty loud with the upper windows wide open, which were open upon arrival. Beds were also pretty hard, the mattresses. Oh and the used old leather couch was losing material and it would stick to the kids legs and fall onto the floor lol.
One of the owners male family members was sitting on the bench outside of the office and gave an unwelcoming look to me and my step daughter as we walked past, so strange.
- Kelly (7/5): - Great washroom/ updated and large
Easy to find Room setup
- Louise (9/5): -
- Jaramiah (10/5): -
- Paul (5/5): -
- Charles (1/5): I'd rather stay in my truck - this place was a dump. pictures were not taken on this property. asked to cancel but they refused. they could have cancelled my reservation and refunded me , but I had to pay and not stay... what a dump!
- van't Slot (4/5): -
- Rena (10/5): -
- Tricia (1/5): Mould in rooms - The room was unusable. There was a strong mould smell that they were aware of because all of the windows were open during the cold season.
Even though they had other rooms open, they wouldn't move us. We ended up driving to the next town at 11:30 pm looking for accommodation. Absolutely unacceptable. Thankfully, Booking.com got us our refund. Stay in Wawa and avoid this place, truly unacceptable.
- campbell (8/5): it met our needs well - noy a good smell
- Karen (8/5): - The motel is clean but dated and a bit shabby. It's got a cottage vibe, so if you don't mind that (we didn't), the perks were that it was very quiet when we stayed and well equipped for a one-night dine-in stay. It's away from town but a short drive to pick up anything you need.
- Jeff (10/5): - Khush was the best! She checked us in and made sure we were comfortable. Clean and welcoming
- Isabelle (10/5): - Pride of hosting in all details. So clean and very well presented. Traditional motel but by far the most impressive stay. Staff extremely welcoming and caring. Real coffee machine, clean towels in abundance, seating tables and plenty of space. Comfortable beds, clean carpets and floors and pleasant decor. Area to walk your pet around is clean and safe. And super quiet, even if right on the Hwy 17. Can't ask for better, really.
- Stéphane (10/5): - Nice big room with kitchen table...two chairs for tv watching
- Jennifer (8/5): -
- Aubrey (10/5): -
- Cara (8/5): - Reception staff was very nice and helpful. Room was nice enough, and clean. Everything was good.
- Peter (7/5): Great people running the place. Loved the food truck outside -
- Sergiu (9/5): - Все. Ничего.
- Vandervelde (9/5): -
- Gary (10/5): - Not far off the road so road noise. Under construction. Otherwise good.
- David (8/5): - Renovations in progress. Look forward to finished property.
- Denys Chyhryn (8/5): - Чистые и уютные номера.
- Gary (10/5): - Very nice establishment, comfortable
and reasonably priced. I would recommend and will stay there again
- Sam (8/5): - Good for an overnight stop if you’re in the area travelling through.
- Steve (10/5): - Staff were great. Hotel was acceptable.
- Sebastien (8/5): -
- Irenegail (10/5): - Very comforting... Food @ muddy Moose was great. We were going back definitely.
- Chrissy (8/5): - The room gave us what we needed for the night, but was very noisy as we had to leave the windows open for airflow and our room sat right on the highway.
- Dwight (9/5): -
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Window was open upon arrival to cover up the musty old smell of the room
- Darren (8/5): - Very friendly service, clean and updated rooms
- Steven (2/5): - Horrible, smells like animal pee in room. Front desk said carpets were just cleaned, and have us an empty bottle of Jazzee to spray. Bugs in room. Uncomfortable beds and pillows. No a/c.
- Robert Meredith (10/5): - This is something that you are seeing driving over Lake Superior. People buying old run down properties and working tirelessly to fix them up. It is not fancy or spectacular, but the room was very clean and pretty comfortable. The staff were extremely courteous and attentive. I would (and most likely will) stay there again!
- Scott (6/5): - Rooms were very damp but the front desk lady brought us a dehumidifier
- Elizabeth (6/5): - Really appreciated staff accommodated a slightly early check-in, as the time of our event got moved ahead with little notice. Was disappointed there was no A/C- as the ad led us to believe there would be. The sofa bed in cottage 2 is not very comfortable and could use updating. The chip truck was not open- and restaurant options were extremely limited in Wawa (many businesses have closed or keep unusual hours). The wifi did not work, and neither did the DVD player. It was fine for a night, and was booked fairly last minute.
- Henry (10/5): - Convenient location off of the highway. Room and bedding was comfortable. Bathroom was renovated and very clean. It is a rustic motel that we find charming and have stayed here numerous times while passing through Wawa.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - The proprietor was very accommodating and met our every need.
- Jacqueline (10/5): -
Close to town
- Neil (6/5): - So it is a motel. However we are travelling across Canada and our last motel stay was excellent. This one is quite run down though I think they are trying to renovate some rooms. Water pressure very bad sometimes barely coming out. Presume it’s when everyone runs it. Carpet very dirty. Beds were clean and comfortable. Too $ for pets to stay compared with every other motel or other accommodation so far. Would likely not return but it was convenient as it is right on the hwy
- Justin (8/5): - What I like about the motel is it’s close to the highway.
- Doyle (10/5): -
- Peter (10/5): - Room was very nice and clean there were some little things that made you feek at home. Crib board abd deck of catds
- Peter (10/5): Wonderful Stay - Great stay at the Northern Lights Motel & Chalets. The rooms were very clean with all the extras you didn't even know you needed (corkscrew, etc). Beds were comfortable and the staff was super friendly and helpful.
- Jonathan (8/5): -
- GARY (10/5): - The staff was very friendly, the room was comfortable and very convenient location!
- ewelina (10/5): - Nice
- Melanie (10/5): - Spacious room, yet cozy feeling. Very soft and comfortable beds. Clean and modern. Lots of personal touches. Would definitely stay here again!
- krista (10/5): - This Motel was great, very accommodating for our large family.
- Karen (10/5): - We needed a clean comfortable place to lay our heads after driving all day and it was perfect.
- Simone (8/5): Great stay at Wawa Northern lights motel. - The room was comfortable. Beds a bit mushy for my liking. Staff very helpful.
- David (10/5): - The room was very nice and clean. Good place to stay when traveling.
- Tammy (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was so accommodating. They even opened breakfast up for us on a holiday.
Would return.
- Ternent (3/5): Poor - The staff was very friendly during check-in however when bringing attention to some shortfalls of the room the staff dismissed them as being the result of wild animals. The room's overall tidiness was acceptable however there were a few random items left hidden in the corner by the bed such as a window fan unit was just placed against the wall and there was some other random items through the room the rooms over all smell wasn't clean and stunk of cat urine the bathroom of the hotel also smelled strongly of mold and mildew.
- Lisa (10/5): - Rooms were
- Hans (8/5): - Was a clean cottage with pretty much everything that you need, but close to the highway so you can always hear traffic . It also had the squeakiest bed I’ve ever slept in lol !! Overall was a great base camp to explore the area!
- Lorna (10/5): - Reasonably priced, quiet room. We arrived quite late and office stayed open for us until we arrived. Would recommend.
- Christine (10/5): - This spot was amazing! The room was clean. Beds were comfortables definitely recommend.
- Cecile (8/5): - We had a great stay!
- Arthur (10/5): - Really kind and friendly check-in staff. .breakfast is available in the morning from a breakfast truck with great items.

What a hidden gem!!
The sweet human at the front desk was so so lovely and wonderful! *bc forever ;) *
Check in was easy!
The rooms were incredibly clean and just felt like going over to grandmas house! Cute signs and pictures, cute lil ear plugs and sewing kit! Even a lil book shelf to make it feel even more like home!
very comfortable beds!
Hot showers and great pressure!
100% stay here if you can, you wont regret it!!

- Barry (10/5): - Cute place nicely decorated
- BIJO (10/5): - Great property, clean room and helpful staff.
- kat (10/5): - Excellent stopover on cross country road trip. Front desk had fresh baked muffins when we checked in. Proper wine glasses in our room. For the price our expectations were exceeded! Another review made the pet charge sound high but it was $25 which is in line with other hotels we have stayed at.
- Patti (10/5): Very pleasant - We were passing through Wawa on Christmas Eve. We were pleasantly surprised by the Northern Lights Motel. The owner was friendly and helpful. The room was updated, clean, comfortable and spacious.
- Bonnie (8/5): Very good -
- bryan (10/5): Superb - it was better than expected. its our first time to stay in a motel type accomodation and i would give this one 5/5 for cleanliness and service.
- Reil (10/5): Cozy little getaway - We loved that this chalet had a cozy and private vibe to it. It was the perfect location to celebrate Christmas with family. Staff were super kind and helpful 😊
- Elizabeth (2/5): - Toilet did not flush as no water in tank behind toilet seat. No water at all coming out of hot water tap. Terrible
- Jenna (8/5): Convienent location for cross Canada move - Location right off the trans canada was very nice. I was just passing through moving cross Canada and it worked great for my cat and I to have a nice place to sleep. There was a hot tub out on my back deck but I guess its not in service. I didn't ask or really care as I just needed a place to crash.
- Katherine (10/5): Exceptional - Spacious and great for families travelling together.
- Christopher (10/5): - Great spot outside of town, quiet, great room.

- Haley (8/5): Dog friendly! - Very clean and easy check in! Beds weren't the comfiest but did fine for us!
- Dana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Norene (10/5): - I had two dogs with me so really appreciated the green space and trail behind the hotel. The owners have big plans for this place and I can’t wait to see it in a few years. It’s good now and they are friendly with excellent service so it’s only going to get better!
- Sekar (6/5): - Bathroom and toilet water and flush problem
- Ripper700 (8/5): Good place - Nice quaint little cabin, clean
Staff was very decent to deal with. Road noise due to location, entry door didn't seal well so the front room was chillier than the kitchen where the thermostat for the area was
- Justin (9/5): Superb -
- Gordon (10/5): Enjoyed our stay - The staff were lovely, the room was big enough for my family, room was clean when we arrived and you could smell the cleaning products which made you feel more comfortable that it had been cleaned properly. The beds were comfy, it was handy having the microwave too. The room could have been done with another chair, maybe some plates and cutlery. Other than that it was lovely.
- Mirza (10/5): Best - The best stay will recommend family and friends Every thing was perfect
- Teddy (8/5): Wonderful stay! Thank you! - Very Friendly staff, let us do a late check in as we were delayed . Dated but very Clean !
Loved the little notes everywhere ! Little dated slight damp odour (but was VERY clean)
