• Doris (7/5): Cold nights on brick-hard mattresses in uncleaned unit. - We liked the location and spaciousness of the unit. The unit has no heat source beside a small space heater. A second was added upon request, but if plugging that in to the second bedroom or the living room led to circuit shortages when using two heaters or the water kettle plus one heater. Also, the mattresses where extremely hard. If regular hotel mattresses are medium, the mattresses in the unit could not be described as firm but as brick-hard. Some people might be accustomed to it - we are not. Moreover, the unit was not cleaned. There were dirty dishes, the shower stall floor had stains (even though the unit is new), the fridge was dirty and there were spider webs on galore behind the window coverings. Both in bedroom and on the kitchen table we encountered spiders. Lastly, this is not a walk-out basement as much as climb-out basement. The unit is more or less underground. It is one big cement chamber, which made the lack of a reliable and efficient heating source so much more worse. Puzzling to me was that there were vents, but they were covered with stickers that showed them being open. Why? I was told to open them, but there were two problems - most of them were too high on the 9feet (or so) ceiling for me to reach them. The one I opened in the bedroom I could just so reach only excreted more cold air.

It's not complete, like flat iron, hair dryer but its manageable. There was no dishwashing pod but has dishwashing soap. However when I asked for paper towels they immediately gave us one.,

• Shaheen (10/5): Exceptional - This was our first ever time out in Canada and although it was a brief stay with it being a buissness trip, it was absolutely amazing. This rental accommodation really made the trip for us and I can't compliment the owners enough. The house was lovely and clean. It had all the facilities and much more than we expected which was a real treat as I had travelled with my husband and two young children. The owners actually came round and visited us personally to check we were happy which I thought was so thoughtful and kind. The location was beautiful, scenic and there is a convenience store fairly local if any everyday essentials are required. It's a ten min drive into Pickering centre. Due to work commitments, we were not able to explore the local area but we are definitely planning a return holiday for longer and so this maybe something we can do then. The house is located very closely alongside walks along and the lake. All in all, a memorable stay in a beautiful home.
