• annick (10/5): - Pèlerines sur le chemin de Compostelle, nous avons vraiment passé un agréable moment à l’Escalandes. Belle chambre, bonne litetie. L’accueil y est chaleureux, bienveillant et le repas excellent. Nous sommes du Pas-de-Calais et espérons avoir l’occasion d’y retourner. Un grand merci !

• Ellis (8/5): Very pleasant . - I didn’t expect The Ritz but it was warm and comfortable ; and extremely clean . The dining room was well laid out wiih a super open fire . The cooking was very good indeed ! My welcome was friendly and , because I was travelling onwards through Spain to Portugal , the location close to the motorways was very convenient . Would I stay there again ? Absolutely ! I was disappointed that I was unable to book a room for my return journey at the end of this month ! But hope to be able when I return to Portugal in May . The breakfast was rather basic

We were not aware reception was closed between 15.00 - 18.00 each day, so on arrival I found our key left in a pigeon hole in the hallway. However everywhere else was locked so we couldn't use the lounge, get a drink or coffee. Our room only had half a roll of toilet paper, 1 bath towel and 2 hand towels only between us plus no bath plug. I messaged Marina who promptly did bring up supplies. Room not very soundproofed, we could hear people chatting in the next room. Bit disappointed, paintwork could do with a good freshen up.

• António Pedro (9/5): Short stay during big travel - Very charming hotel in a centuries old building. Easy to find in the village center, not far away from the motorway. The building, albeit very old, is well maintained, charming and cozy. The lady who served us – I assume she is the owner – was very friendly and helpful. The room was quite large, very clean, well heated (we traveled in Winter) and comfortable. Sound proofing… but I suppose it's not possible to do better in such an old building.

• Bettina (5/5): Einfache Unterkunft nahe der Autobahn - Das L‘Escalades ist ein sehr einfaches Hotel, deutlich in die Jahre gekommen, mit Parkmöglichkeiten direkt vor den Haus. Das Zimmer war sauber. Unser kleiner Hund willkommen und wurde mit 15€ berechnet. Das Abendessen war etwas enttäuschend, und entsprach nicht wirklich den zuvor gelesenen Bewertungen. Das Frühstück war einfach und sehr überschaubar! Aber immerhin die frischen Croissants köstlich. Wir hatten bei dem schönen Wetter auf ein Abendessen auf der Terrasse des Hotels gehofft, welche leider gar nicht darauf eingerichtet war. Das Bett war auf der einen Seite vollkommen durchgelegen. Und der Café am Morgen aus dem Automaten auch eher schade. Beim Auschecken gab es Unstimmigkeiten mit dem von uns vorab gezahlten Zimmerpreis. Das muss definitiv nach unserer Rückreise noch geklärt werden. Vermutlich werden wir nicht wieder an diesen Ort reisen.

• Poppenberg (10/5): - Das Hotel liegt wunderschön, es ist ein altes fast historisches Gebäude, sehr liebevoll eingerichtet, Wir hatten ein wunderbares leckeres Abendessen und ein tolles Frühstück. Es gibt eine ganz tolle Terrasse. Sehr freundliche inhaber/Mitarbeiter. Es war sehr sauber, Eine himmlische Ruhe . Das hotel ist einfach und schnell von der Autobahn zu erreichen. Ein Erlebnis!! Zum wiederholen.

• John (5/5): Although the location was great, the staff friendly, and the breakfast satisfying, the room didn’t quite meet our expect - the location was ok, the staff was friendly the room was old, one of the bedroom floors was noticeably slanted, which gave the room a quirky feel. and the wall finish in the toilet was coming loose.

De kamer stonk echt verschrikkelijk. Kwam uit de badkamer, echt een rioleringsgeur. Als we even weg waren geweest en de kamer weer terug in kwamen, sloeg de geur in je gezicht. Zelfs met de deur van de badkamer dicht, rook ik continu een vieze poeplucht.
