- Adrian (9/5): Gerne wieder.... - Die Wohnung haben wir so angetroffen wie vom Vermieter beschrieben. Die Wohnung ist für zwei Personen genug gross und clever eingerichtet. Für eine Familie sicherlich zu klein. Es hat genügend Stauraum. Alles ist sehr sauber und gut eingerichtet. Man könnte sich auch selber etwas Kochen. Küche ist gut ausgerüstet. Wir haben uns allerdings nur am Kaffee und Tee bedient. Der kleine Balkon mit direktem Blick auf das Matterhorn ist sehr romantisch mit Kerzen, Kissen und Schaffellen eingerichtet. Gibt nichts zu bemängeln. Der Bus ist 150m von der Wohnung entfernt. Ins Zentrum kann man in ca. 20 Minuten zu Fuss gehen.

The location is excellent, peaceful and slightly removed from the busiest areas, yet still very well connected to the town center and ski lifts. The mountain views are absolutely breathtaking, especially in the morning — with the iconic Matterhorn creating a picture-perfect backdrop. The rooms are beautifully designed, combining traditional Swiss style with contemporary amenities. Everything is impeccably clean, and the attention to detail is evident throughout — from the quality materials to the thoughtful touches that elevate the entire stay. What truly sets this place apart is the hospitality. The staff are exceptionally warm, professional, and attentive, always ready to assist while maintaining a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It genuinely feels like they care about each guest’s experience. Sonmatten Boutique Hotel & Apartments is an outstanding choice for anyone seeking a premium, peaceful, and authentic stay in Zermatt. A place I would gladly return to without hesitation. Thank you, Barbara! To be honest, I can’t really point out anything negative. Everything — the location, the amenities, the hosts and the food (the schnitzel was excellent!) — was spot on. It’s rare to find a place where you genuinely have nothing to complain about.

- Rebel (8/5): enjoy my stay. will recommend to my friend. - I like that the shuttle bus stop is right outside the hotel, and you can enjoy an unobstructed view of the Matterhorn from the backyard lounge area. The hotel also looks modern and clean, with a designated area for skis and ski boots. I asked for more towels and coffee capsules, and they provided them. There’s no elevator, and I wish the rooms were better soundproofed so I wouldn’t hear the pounding from upstairs. I also wish the ski room were slightly better designed so seating wouldn’t run out so quickly. It would also be nice if there were a heating system for drying towels.

- Stephan (7/5): Vom Gefühl her 9, durch die Mängel nur 7: gemeint 7,8 - 7,9 Punkte - Ansich habe ich mich in diesem Zimmer ganz wohl gefühlt, es war gemütlich und ruhig, auch wegen der Lage im südöstlichen Winkel von Zermatt mit dem bezeichnenden Namen Winkelmatten, und glücklicherweise gleich bei der Bushaltestelle bei der hübschen Kapelle, wo ich schon so oft von den Bergen wieder in die Zivilisation gekommen war. Es hat zwar kein Frühstück hier, aber es gibt morgens zwei Gipfeli /Croissants pro Gast. Die Kaffeekapseln für die leicht zu bedienende Maschine werden nachgefüllt. Ein paar Dinge fehlen leider in dem Zimmer: Z.B. ein Teller für die krümeligen Croissants. Am meisten jedoch ein Heizkörper. Es war zwar nie wirklich kalt, trotz nachts geöffnetem Fenster im Februar und ausgeschalteter Klimaanlage, aber nachdem ich es doch etwas kühl fand und die Klimaanlage ein paar Stunden am Laufen hatte, war ich mir nicht sicher, ob ich einen merklichen Unterschied spüre, außer einem gelegentlichen Geräusch seitens der Klimaanlage. Vor allem ist das Problem, dass ich ohne Heizkörper meine Wäsche nicht trocken kriege, und das muss ich als Sporttourist. Das Waschen der Kleidung musste also bis zur nächsten Unterkunft warten. Der Föhn funktioniert, leidet aber leider an einer Art Genickbruch, sprich, er knickt immer zusammen.

Непродуманный протекающий душ. Одно из полотенец было грязным. Отсутствует батарея: сложно просушить вещи. В остальном все было чудесно.

- Melissa (8/5): - The hotel doesn't offer breakfast in the restaurant but offers croissants for each room. The restaurant is open for dinner and drinks though. They were able to store my luggage while I was staying in a rufugio which was super nice. The location is only 5 minute walk from the Matterhorn Express gondola. There is also a bus stop right in front of the hotel! One staff member seemed inconvenienced by questions and kept interactions short and speedy with straight face, I felt like I needed to be quick and I avoided asking them for more clarification. My room was the first one up the stairs so people would try the door knob in the night. Luckily I always locked the door once I entered the room which I definitely recommend so you don't have unwanted intruders (the door does not automatically lock)! The location is about a 15-20 minute walk to town center if you don't catch the bus.

The apartment is perfect, comfortable, with everything you need to spend a few days enjoying the comforts of a regular home, and the mountain view is the star of the apartment – beautiful. You could easily spend hours just looking out the window or sitting on the balcony. The location is also great; it's super easy to get to and from the city by walking, but if you prefer, you can take the city's public bus, which is about 3 minutes from the accommodation (recommended for when arriving at and returning from the train station*). During your stay, walking is highly recommended as it's not too far and the views along the way are amazing.

The room was very cozy and you have a nice view of the Matterhorn, unless you take the Gornergrat for part of the way it is a bit of a walk up compared to other hotels but overall I really liked the hotel and would come again. I visited in early September. I wish there was a breakfast offering, however they do provide fresh bread delivered in the morning which is a nice touch. The check out process could be made a bit clearer but this didn't case any issues.

The family operating the restaurant and hotel were fantastic! They obviously put a great deal of effort into both. I couldn't figure out the bus system. Getting to the train station was easy enough with the directions I got from the staff. (Even thought the stop right outside the hotel was not in service as advertised.) I ended up doing more extreme uphill walking to get back than I wanted.

Die Schaukel im Zimmer fand ich das Highlight :) Es gab zwar kein Frühstück, aber es hatte im Zimmer eine Kaffeemaschine und frische Gipfeli die jeden Morgen bereit lagen - Merci für diesen Service!! Gleich unter der Unterkunft befindet sich ein Restaurant, dass hervorragendes Essen serviert. (Mittwochs geschlossen) So lässt sich auch noch spontan etwas essen, ohne dass man zurück ins Stadtzentrum laufen muss. Vom Haus aus kommt man sehr schnell zu zahlreichen Wanderungen. Ich wäre froh gewesen, wenn mich das Hotel vorher darüber informiert hätte, wie ich am besten zur Unterkunft komme. Es gibt nur eine E-Buslinie die zum Hotel fährt und diese hatte ich mit meinem Navi nicht gefunden, sodass ich schlussendlich 20Min mit dem ganzen Gepäck steil den Hang hochlaufen musste. Bei der Ankunft wurde mir dann erklärt wie es in Zermatt funktioniert. Im Hotel selbst gibt es keine Rezeption, was es schwierig macht sich an jemanden zu wenden, wenn man Fragen/Anliegen hat. Ich war sehr enttäuscht das im Kanton Wallis vom Personal weder Deutsch noch Französisch gesprochen wurde. Das macht für mich einen riesigen Minuspunkt :( Für Leute die auf Geräusche reagieren: das Getrampel vom oberen Stock hört man sehr gut und auch, wenn jemand im Flur ist.

- Bianca (9/5): - Schöne Zimmer. Abendessen im Haus sehr gut. Ein wenig abseits gelegen, dadurch aber sehr ruhig und entspannt. Tolle Idee mit Frühstücksgipferl am Morgen. Sind sehr kleine Zimmer, aber hat uns nicht gestört.

Super quiet and they left out croissants for us in the morning. Make sure to get the red (rote) bus up to avoid walking up the very steep hill!
- Patricia (8/5): - Preis/Leistung für ein Einzelzimmer in Zermatt gut. Zimmer sind praktisch und das Restaurant ist nett für ein Abendessen. In der Ausschreibung war ein Wasserkocher angepriesen. Der war nicht vorhanden (bitte ändern) und vor 9:00 konnte/wollte niemand heisses Wasser im Restaurant in meine Thermoskanne füllen (weil kein Frühstück-Service; kein Interesse zu helfen), was nicht toll ist, wenn man früh auf Wanderschaft geht & genau wegen des Wasserkochers das Zimmer gebucht hat. Es gibt jedoch eine kleine Kaffeemaschine & Trinkwasser auf dem Zimmer.
- Tasiaux (3/5): Pas de service client. Chambre dysfonctionnelle. - L’emplacement, la chambre très jolie Serviettes non-remplacées. Draps non-changés. Chambre non-lavée. Pommeau de douche cassé. Lors de notre arrivée à 21h, on nous a dit que le restaurant était fermé, alors qu’il était affiché que celui-ci était ouvert jusque 23h. Bref beaucoup de point négatifs pour le prix que l’on paye.

- Purvi (7/5): Comfortable stay with amazing views of matterhorn. Staff can be a little nicer but that doesn’t bother me. - A standard double room is extremely small but cozy & does not provide the views of Matterhorn but we knew that. The view from restaurant patio was amazing so no complaints. Restaurant was overpriced since we ate a vegetarian meal. Overall good value for money! A little dirty, dust below the bed and on window rims but bed and toilet was clean.

- herbert (5/5): FÜR ZERMATTER VERHÄLTNISSE WAHRSCHEINLICH SCHON OKAY IM PREIS/LEISTUNGS VERHÄLTNIS - kein Frühstück ausser 1 Croissant pro Person (dafür Nespresso Maschine mit ausreichend Kapseln u. Teesäckchen plus 1 Flasche Mineralwasser) Lage am Rande Zermatts (aber mit Gratisbus vom Zentrum aus in 15-20 Minuten zu erreichen), und deswegen für uns angenehmer als zentral gelegen, weil dort Haus an Haus gereiht ist. Personal sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Matterhorn Blick halb ums Eck. Das Zimmer inkl. Bad war sehr klein. Das Bett ist für eine Person nur von der Fußseite zu erreichen.
