Guest Reviews
- Morgana (5/5): Awesome location - Great location, beautiful heritage property. Complimentary snacks and continental breakfast. The carpets need to be changed as they smell like old socks, which makes the whole room I stayed in smell badly -Can't be healthy to sleep in that. Bathroom would do well with better maintenance.
- Hal (5/5): It was ok but not for a really pleasant holiday. - Old historic building in reasonably good location. Breakfast was not even basic. Cleanliness of the central areas and hallways not good. Staff not very welcoming.
- Linda (10/5): Staff were very friendly and helpful - Lovely heritage building
- Laura (2/5): Will never come back to this hotel. - Location. It was dirty, washroom was nasty, tiny room you could barely walk there, we asked for a change they were going to charge 200 more. Will never come back. Breakfast was nothing but a slice of bread and a glass of juice.
- Lawrence (10/5): Exceptional -
- Filssan (4/5): Dirty motel style stay but other rooms seemed nicer - Some other rooms seemed much much nicer. Staff was nice. Our room was incredibly tiny with the dirtiest bathroom. Wasn’t cleaned properly where there were stains in the toilet seat and it was up to us to clean it. I wasn’t going to shower for the two days but my partner went to purchase a new shower curtain from the dollar store because it was disgusting with pink and black streaks and stains. The bathroom door wouldn’t shut properly, ac was incredibly loud, carpet in room was smelly and dirty, room curtains need to be washed. This wasn’t the room that the photo identified when booking but there were other rooms that were hardwood and much much nicer.
- Sadaf (2/5): Very poor -
- Belabe (3/5): Bad experience - I really like the girls they were so kind when I got there, the first one helped park my Car, I forgot to leave my key in my car sothat they could remove it😁. The guys was also so good, generally the staff was great. But the hotel was really bad, I would even give a zero. I was saying on the website some nice rooms. But they got me a small room, under a stairs, the washroom was so small as well, the room was not nice. And I paid 400 dollars for to nights. This is just a scam this hotel
- Vandan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Pierce (10/5): Great location - Loved the location and style
- Yada (10/5): Exceptional -
- Edward (5/5): Passable -
- Anonymous (1/5): Horrible - Nothing Everything’s
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Newham (7/5): Good - Included breakfast, tidy rooms. Having to have door key reactivated after going for breakfast
- Sara (3/5): Overpriced and Outdated – Not Worth It - The location is excellent, with easy access to public transportation and key spots in the city.
The Wi-Fi worked reliably during our entire stay, which was convenient.
We were allowed to check into our room earlier than expected, which we really appreciated.
On our last day, they kindly stored our luggage for a few hours before we headed to the airport. The photos online are very misleading and present the hotel in a much better condition than it actually is. The hotel clearly needs a major renovation. While it may have been nice in the past, it hasn’t been maintained or modernized. The bathroom was outdated, with a tiny, awkward shower that was far from comfortable.
Breakfast is served in a damp, poorly ventilated basement. The quality of the breakfast itself was poor, with very limited options.
ATTENTION: A staff member entered our room twice without knocking, even while we were inside, which made us feel very unsafe.
Our room faced a wall, had almost no natural light, and the windows didn’t close properly — meaning anyone could potentially access the room from outside.
Even though French is the official language in Montreal and there was a sign saying staff spoke French, we were only attended in English.
The value for money was extremely poor. For the price, we expected a much higher standard.
- Wenxin (5/5): Passable - Location is great, friendly staff, room is quite small, especially the bathroom, but the bed is comfy. Room is quite small, especially the bathroom. Breakfast is limited. Some facilities are quite old.
- Newham (7/5): Good -
- Rivera (2/5): Worse hotel selection I've ever done. - Poor menu There no elevator, poor housekeeping, parking for only 2 cars. The first night there were no hot water. The shower was extremely small. Poor exterior appearance. Not recommended.
- Girma (3/5): Poor - Location The room booked for five people is tiny congested with three beds in one room. How on earth a hotel books such a tiny room for a five people family! The shower cubicle and the bath are so much tiny that you can't move from one side to the other. The breakfast was also lousy. Overall I hated my stay for that single night. I won't advise a family to book in that hotel.
- Joseph (1/5): Overpriced and filthy. Do not stay here - The building is crumbling, there are cracks on the steps up to the entrance, the upholstery on the chairs is worn out at reception and no staff member ever greeted me with a smile or a friendly hello when I entered the hotel. I was always met with silence. So weird. Im struggling to find a thing I liked about the property. The water tap at reception has cold water. That was nice. My room was never cleaned once in a three night stay. Towels never changed. Coffee never replenished. Bin never emptied. One of my windows was broken and replaced with broken plastic and tape. The window ledge was filthy and cracked. The room was so depressing. Breakfast was awful.
- Tarek (1/5): Very disappointing stay that is not worth the price. Images are deceiving. - Location is good. close to the train station, restaurants and other interesting places A lot of things.
Photos are incorrect and paint a much better image of what the place actually looks like. The room we got was not in any of the photos and turned out to be much much smaller than depicted. Its definitely not for two people.
Our access card suddenly stopped working and we had to wait for 15 minutes outside knocking to get someone to let us in, in the end another customer opened the hotel door for us. No one was at the reception which is right next to the door and no one answered the help number.
There was no hot water for almost 16 hours.
We put a marker on the door to have the room refreshed but no one did anything for more than 24 hours.
Breakfast was mediocre to say the least.
Ac is super loud and hardly cools the room while the rooms feel a bit damp. The hotel carpet is not clean. After complaining multiple times the staff gave us a larger room but we were already on our last night.
- Abby (7/5): Good - the room was good - clean and as expected the lobby and common areas were run down and not the cleanest
- Mauricio (6/5): Room temperature and AC - AC of the room was too noisy. Room temperature was not steady
- Lauren (6/5): Fairly clean, great location. - Location, location, location! The hotel could offer more and accurate information on parking.
- Vicki (9/5): Superb -
- Nethmi (4/5): Disappointing -
- Keryn (6/5): Pleasant -
- Amanpreet (1/5): Bad -
- Jessica (1/5): THE MOST DISGUSTING PLACE I’VE EVER STAYED – A COMPLETE SCAM - Nothing I was supposed to stay here for two nights — I barely survived one. This place is a complete nightmare and should be shut down immediately. The photos online are an absolute scam: they show a charming, cozy hotel, but what you find in reality is a filthy, crumbling, depressing dump.
The room was TINY and absolutely disgusting. The walls looked like they were about to fall apart, the floor was dirty, the surfaces were dusty, and the bed covers had HOLES. The bathroom was a joke — small, and once you close the nasty plastic shower curtain, you’re in total darkness. Oh, and no hot water. That’s right — not even a basic hot shower.
The entire structure feels like it’s falling apart, and everything smells of damp and neglect. I didn’t even want to touch anything.
As if that wasn’t enough, breakfast was a complete insult: a sad excuse for a buffet with almost nothing to choose from, served in the gross dining area of the pizzeria downstairs. No atmosphere, no hygiene, no effort whatsoever.
When I dared to confront the staff about the horrifying state of the hotel compared to the fake photos, they acted like I was the problem — completely denying how bad things were. Zero accountability, zero shame. They know they’re running a scam and they just don’t care.
Do yourself a favor: avoid this hellhole at all costs. It’s a health risk, a complete rip-off, and the worst experience I’ve ever had with a hotel in my life.
- Amaninder (10/5): Clean, professional and courteous - Clean, professional and courteous
- Saba (8/5): Very good -
- Austen (7/5): Good -
- Neha (1/5): Bad - The room was very very small! It was smelling like moisture and had multiple leakage marks on the roof. Its a trap.
- Mary (5/5): Passable - The walls are too thin, you can hear people in the other room talking. The carpet needs cleaning, they smell musty.
- Mohamed (10/5): Amazing - The hotel owner was a true gentleman, he ensured that I had the best possible services. The hotel staffs were amazing and caring. The breakfast is generous and fresh ! I highly recommend. Top hotel, top staff. I appreciated everything
- Liliana (5/5): Passable -
- Borgna (9/5): Superb - The people working there The bathroom
- Canadianelle (4/5): From Boutique Hotel to Budget Stay. What a shame - Comortable bed. TV works. The room was pretty clean, but the general condition of the building has become ramshakled and rundown since my first stay at the beginning of 2020. I noticed, after my clothes became wet with snow, and that there is a broken window in the room and snow was piling up on the radiator. I told the owner, and he said there was nothing he could do because of the blizzard. So I said I would put a towel in the crack in the windows. He said ,"very good".
Also, nowhere in the booking conditions does it say anything about a 200$ deposit. Now, I'm not getting it back. I have before and after photos of the room. In fact, it looks better in the after shots because I found the blow dryer someone had stuffed in a drawer, then I returned it to its bag in the bathroom. I also had to shovel the stairs to the entrance because they were completely covered with snow. The next morning, I saw they were icy, so I had to salt the stairs because I didn't want to break my neck. One .morning, the owner just kept blaning the blizzard and said the helpers were coming in 4 hours to shovel. Well, I had an appointment and couldn't miss it. So I started shoveling. He eventually pitched in but didn't seem to think it was important to keep the stairs safe.
Breakfast was very poor. The dining area is dirty, neglected, and gloomy.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deborah (8/5): Very good -
- Ottman (9/5): Superb -
- Katrine (8/5): Very good - Cute, exactly what we needed. Fun to have a microwave and a mini fridge. Secure, needed key to enter the building. Mattress was a little hard. Keys demagnetized, but staff helped us.
- Elyas (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (3/5): Poor -
- Amanda (6/5): Pleasant -
- Edgar (8/5): good but could be better - Very good location, close to the bus station, the entertainment center and UQAM. Very quiet and you can relax. An excellent breakfast to start the day. Carrying a large suitcase to get to reception is quite an adventure. The bathroom had a design that could not be enjoyed. Cleanliness can be improved.
- Sally (7/5): Overall I was happy with this affordable hotel. - Clean, convenient location, easy check in. My room was on the top (3rd) floor so lots of stairs for a senior. I had requested ground floor but it could not be guaranteed. Room was airless so it needed the noisy air conditioning on.
- Sally (8/5): I was happy with my stay in a room on the ground floor. Fairly quiet. - Clean, affordable, easy check in and out and friendly staff. Older building charm. Lots of stairs (no lift) but it’s an older building.
- Illuminata (8/5): We had a good time staying at Hotel de Paris Montreal;I 100% recommend - The breakfast was very good beyond expectation and the location of the hotel was nearby a number of touring sites. We were put into a very small room with poor ventilation but thank God we were transferred into a God spacious room at no additional charge
- Phillip (10/5): Exceptional -
- Basavaraj (9/5): Superb -
- John (7/5): It was a 8/10. - I appreciated the hotel’s convenient location and the staff’s responsiveness to any requests we had. We loved the breakfast options. We enjoyed our stay overall. The employee working during our visit was unfortunately not suited for the role. She was unfriendly and unwelcoming, making us feel like our concerns or questions were an inconvenience. Important details like breakfast options weren’t communicated either.
This was especially unfortunate, as being in a new country or unfamiliar location can already be intimidating. Her lack of warmth only added to the discomfort for my wife. Thankfully, the other staff members we encountered were kind and more accommodating. We were also disappointed to find that the property did not match the images on the website, and the stained sheets were particularly concerning.
- Zaidi (1/5): Worst experience ever - Worst customer service bad staff, manager treat you as shyt Staff ,Customer service, not clean, extremely small room
- Jeeva (5/5): Passable -
- Arturo (7/5): Good -
- Kyle (5/5): Passable -
- Btissam (4/5): Disappointing - The breakfast was ok. I found the toilet dirty which i claimed and they cleaned it. The problem returned back after few minutes because of a hole up on the plafond. I guess when the customer in the room up use the toilet it drain down. They had to repair the room installation before make it for booking. The building is not accessible as well if you have heavy lagage because of stairs/no elevator. They ask to scan/make hard copy of credit card which is insecure and illegal.
I don't recommend.
- Alik22 (8/5): Very good - Place and area Windows need to be replaced
- Dana (7/5): Good - Very good location.
Very close to a metro station and bus station.
Very good breakfast selection.
Hotel staff very accommodating.
Quiet environment. A/C unit extremely noisy.
Shower box very tiny and shower curtain useless.
- Kyeong (4/5): Disappointing - parking car circumstance is very poor.
- Robert (2/5): Very poor -
- Katarzyna (5/5): Passable -
- Catherine (8/5): Good value for money, great staff - . Exceptionally helpful staff
- Lauren (7/5): Good location- near the bio dome and botanical gardens. Free parking on Sherbrook. - Breakfast was fine, an unusual walk down stairs and through hallways to a nice room with a window to the street. Room was small but adequate and as advertised, an economy room. We were on the 4th floor, no elevator, but we managed just fine.
- Cetia (8/5): Very good -
- Iosif (9/5): Superb - breakfast, room and location were good, the view from the room was on garbage between houses
- Mariya (10/5): Exceptional - Good accomodation for this price and very close to the Sherbrooke metro station and Rue de St. Catharine
- Nidhi (4/5): Disappointing -
- Ziyu (8/5): better than expected -
- Graham (7/5): I would stay again. The price I paid was good value for money. - Old style, comfortable, good breakfast Room was a little small, water in washbasin a little slow to drain
- Anne (1/5): Bad - No locks on windows (first floor) and no second lock on main door, very small space
- Amir (3/5): Never stay there - Only breakfast was barely ok The bathroom was super dirty, the bathtub bottom was so dirty that we never dare to use it
The space was very tight
No fridge
- Zhanna (3/5): Poor -
- Tayyyyl (4/5): Expensive Stay - Great Location, But Room Needs Attention - The hotel's location is amazing, with a city bike station conveniently located on the side street, making it easy to explore the city. The on-site staff is available 24/7, which adds a nice level of convenience and security. We also appreciated the simple and convenient feature of turning on the A/C unit with a switch above the bed. Would love to stay in a different room in the hotel next time were in the city! We recently stayed at Hotel de Paris Montreal in Room 48, a Budget One Double Bed Room on the top floor. While the hotel's location was excellent, offering easy access to underground paid parking, the subway and buses the room itself did not meet our expectations, especially considering the total cost of $465.54. With a $200 room deposit.
The room had several maintenance issues that hindered our stay. There was mold in the shower, and only one of the sink valves was functional, which was a bit inconvenient. The door tended to stick, and the wallpaper was peeling in places.
Given the price, we expected a more comfortable and well-maintained room. The hotel has great potential due to its location, but our room could benefit from some updates to align with the cost.
- Adam (6/5): Central location for a reasonable price, works for a one night stay - Comfy bed, good air conditioning, reasonably priced and central location On arrival receptionist was not very approachable. We requested an early checkin well prior to arriving, but upon arriving the staff were dismissive of the request and were not interested in trying to achieve this for us. Room was very small, and the bathroom was old and run down.
- Zhonghao (1/5): Sick and Terriable - There are long, steep steps to climb before entering the hotel, very unfriendly to people with luggage. The room is not ventilated enough and there are flies everywhere. The air conditioner is very noisy, I can understand that it is an old air conditioner, but the air conditioner filter has not been cleaned for a long time, and it is filled with disgusting dust. The bath towel is not clean, after wiping the body I saw many dust remaining on my skin. The promotional pictures of the hotel are fraudulent
- Kamikazi (4/5): Disappointing - The staff were great, was very nice on the inside Room was small, but it was a budget room and so was the shower one person could barely fit in it, I don’t recommend getting a budget room if you’re claustrophobic. There were a lot more stairs than than expected
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Kenneth (6/5): You get what you pay for - Nice old property, historic bldg. Room smelled bad on arrival, somewhat rundown exterior
- Lucero (9/5): Superb - Good attention and predisposition to help. Good breakfast and comfortably mattress. Very clean. Noisy air conditioner.
- Sherilyn (3/5): Beds were comfortable. Staff were helpful. - Hotel had charm. Room was quiet which made relaxing after a long day/stay possible. Beds were comfortable. No garage available for vehicle (had a alley carport that was a tight space for an additional fee). Bar soap was not in bathroom; had to request from front desk. Shower stall is small. Toilet seat was broken. Wash cloth was laundered but clearly had makeup stains on it. Rooms/ breakfast area had fruit flies. Breakfast quality was nothing impressive. No chair in the room; it appeared until the final night during room service. Over bed lights didn't work (one light bulb was dead and the other flickered on and off).
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely helpful staff for after hours checkin
- Paula (8/5): Good location and price - The location is great, very close to the Latin Quartier, and walkable to the main attractions. Breakfast was ok with the basic options to self-service They asked for $200 deposit and made a copy of my credit card, I asked about it, and they said it is a common procedure. The beds are old and noisy, the clean in general is just ok.
- Aden (9/5): Superb -
- Justin (7/5): Good petite hotel! - Great location Showers
- Bryanne (1/5): Not great. - Nothing. am not one to write negative reviews but the stay that I just had was nothing that i expected. First off the rooms are nothing like the photos online or on booking.com so i feel like they need to be updated so people are not disappointed on what they get, the room was only big enough for the bed and desk that they had in there, I could barely walk through to the bathroom (which was a whole other thing, it did not feel clean in any way) on top of that the lock in the room was broken, so as two women staying in the room we felt so unsafe and barely slept for that reason.
Second the parking situation is the most insane thing I have ever experienced. You pay 40$ a night for them to have to move your car any time anyone wants to leave because it’s single file in a small little alley way. Not only that but the morning front desk person was so unbelievably aggressive while trying to park he was banging on the trunk of the car, got IN the window and took the stealing wheel trying to move it which then made the car hit the little metal hut thing you park in which BROKE the car mirror off. So after spending 120$ on parking we now have to spend money on repairs.
Third, speaking on the morning front desk guy he was unbelievably rude from the minute we walked in the other desk staff was absolutely amazing though.
If I could give 0 stars on my stay I would, the biggest waste of money I’ve ever spent.
- Evan (7/5): Good -
- He (3/5): Poor -
- Lum (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marcotte (9/5): Superb - The bed and pillows It was a bit small and poor view
- Arora (7/5): Good -
- Christoph (9/5): Superb -
- Nick (1/5): Bad - Very small rooms, not clean at all, way different then the pictures even there won't ever go there again didn't even slept there just left.
- Daniel (8/5): Very good - Staff were antentive and helpful. Great location for our needs.
A/C was great in the Montreal heat wave. Breakfast was basic, however this came as a surprise and we weren't expecting one.
- Justin (8/5): Very good -
- Christopher (10/5): It was a great stay, staff was helpful and the food was great. Excellent location. - The breakfast was great, it was very good and probably one of the best breakfasts you can get with a hotel room. Offering unpaid or reduced parking, the parking in Montreal is so strange.
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Saba (1/5): Not worth at all. I would not recommend at all. - No safety , I lost my iPhone 14 Pro Max from the breakfast room.
Hotel has no idea of who the guest is . Any outsider can come n steal the guests private things. The hotel could not figure out who the person was who stole my phone from the hotel even after watching the person steal my phone on camera recording.
The room was extremely small. Washroom was so badly made that I couldn’t even access the bath tub. No toothpaste in the washroom.
Extremely bad experience.
Ruined my entire trip as I was in the police station for the entire day.
- Cocò (5/5): Tiny room and 200$ deposit required - The location is convenient, close to a metro station and not far away from the main attractions in the city. The 200$ deposit was an unexpected and unpleasant surprise. Our room was extremely small, just enough space for a double bed. The room was smelly.
Breakfast was extremely simple, just a couple of boiled eggs and croissants.
