Guest Reviews
- Penny (9/5): Lovely place to stop on the way from Melbourne to Sydney -
- Jamie (8/5): - Location was excellant
- Kaye (10/5): Funky room for the night. Large and accommodating. -
- Colleen (10/5): Beautiful - This place is amazing! The history of the building and the town is phenomenal. I highly recommend visiting! Our stay wasn't long enough
- Philip (8/5): Nice stay at Flash Jacks - Nice quiet stay in an old convent converted to apartments. Great gardens surrounding. Needs a larger sink area in bathroom and a full length mirror would be helpful
- Gillian (8/5): - Location, gardens, quiet, clean. Needed a chair in tbe room to sit in rather than only the bed. Bar fridge ok as a minibar but not enough space to put my fridge things while travelling. Some plates, cutlery for my own snacks would be useful. Maybe a toaster too, like most motel rooms.
- Wayno1 (10/5): Treat yourself - Wow. This was a great surprise and we were super impressed with the luxury and size of the room.
Read the history of the building and you will be amazed.
The communication and easy to follow instructions from our host David were excellent. We even scored an unexpected room upgrade.
Loved everything about our one night stay. The bed was one of the most comfortable ones we have had.
We had the pleasure of walking around the building before we left.
A nice short walk to the main street for food and drinks.
Lots of nice unique shops if you have the time.
Would definitely recommend staying at Flash Jacks. Only having one night to soak in the luxury of this room.
- Kevin (8/5): Very good. - The garden was excellent.
- Susan (9/5): Lovely setting, will visit here again…… - The tasteful decor and super high ceilings The hot water service turning on / off all night. Very noisy , disturbing.
Lack of Power Points near tables
- Sharon (10/5): Quiet, stunning - Heritage, different, location, stunning Pebble Paths were a bit difficult to walk along with a large wheelie case.
- Diana (8/5): - Wonderful bed…great coffee Not enough power points…husband with a sleep apnoea machine…hearing aids to charge…mobile phones etc…had to boil the kettle in the bathroom! Also…floor tiles very slippery..did use the wooden mat but still a bit of a hazard..a rail to hang on to in the shower would be a bonus. Apart from that…a lovely revitalise of an old convent…well done 🤛👏
- Louise (8/5): -
- Elizabeth (9/5): -
- Sonia (9/5): Tasteful and comfortable - I wasnt given any breakfast. Very comfortable. Liked the heated bed. The location looked better online and I was expecting a bath. The site was much smaller then I expected.
- Ruth (9/5): -
- Kathryn (9/5): Lovely but brief stay. Will book again. - Everything except a couple of small things in the bathroom. We stayed in room no: 1
Very comfortable beds. Great location and very atmospheric Bathroom was cold with no way of heating. Large white tiles which were slippery when wet. A couple more hooks in the bathroom to hang towels would be good as well as shower caps. We didn’t seem to have a bath mat supplied with our towels. Perhaps an oversight but it was required due to the cold and slippery floors.
- Peter (10/5): Comfy overnight place in Gundagai. - Great location in Gundagai. Nicely furnished and comfy big bed. Bathroom sink was very small and little bench space.
- Stuart (9/5): -
- Therese (9/5): Fit out purpose we stayed in number 6 tiles in bathrooms that’s other people we new stayed in were a bit slippery when w - Location and character Hard to see code when checking in late at night
- Tracey (10/5): Beautiful building. Amazing comfortable room - Comfort and serenity Contact with owners non existent
- Elizabeth (10/5): -
- claire (4/5): Very disappointing; reeked of cigarette smoke - Good location, modern bathroom Absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke; no sound proofing; huge spider in the corner of the window
- Denise (9/5): Clean, comfortable and stylish. -
- Samantha (9/5): -
- Stephen (9/5): -
- Lars (10/5): -
- toshiro (10/5): -
- Barbara (10/5): Just a lovely place to stay. - Beautiful room, great location.
- D. Mahoney (9/5): Gundagai gem - Flash Jacks is a perfect place to stay in Gundagai. The room is delightfully renovated - lovely ambience, comfortable bed, huge bathroom.
Quiet location, off-street parking, and close proximity to main street Gundagai (short walk).
Excellent, remote check in system and easy access via keypad. Excellent communication via booking service. -
- Eelsha (7/5): Well located in Gundagai - Well located and good parking. Good instruction on how to get into the room. Our room did not have a window so we needed to sleep with the air conditioner on.
Also had to sleep on an electric blanket control in warm weather.
- Natalie (7/5): - The location of the hotel was excellent and the room was very clean, tidy and comfortable. The fridge was very small and a $100.00 deposit for the mini bar, which I didn’t use.
- william (6/5): Wouldn't stay again. - Unique character. Poor design. Lack of power points. Electric jug on fridge had to be taken to bathroom. Tea making in anther location. No wardrobe.
Far from what we were hoping for.
- Felicia (10/5): Excellent accommodation! - I liked the comfortable bed and the clean rooms and lovely decor. I liked the huge bathroom and lovely "Leif" botanical products to use. Loved the privacy, quiet environment and leafy surrounds. Loved the off street parking, electric charging stations and disability parking spot. I liked the security and that all the codes were messaged to me earlier in the day before we got to the venue! There were not enough black tea bags, biscuits or milk for the stay.
The tiles in the shower were very slippery. Grateful that a timber shower board was provided. Is it possible to replace a few tiles under the shower head area with textured non slip tiles? - something earthy in keeping with the decor?
- Barry (8/5): A large pleasant space, with frustrating oversights in furnishing. - Newly renovated old convent, individual rooms. We had large bedroom, small lounge, balcony. No staff, directions via text for code to enter building, then room. No common room to cross paths with other guests. Large bath room but the smallest basin and no place to put toiletries. Tiles in bathroom dangerously slippery, beware any age! TV difficult to operate for live channels - lots of apps. Tea making facilitities on a very small table. Bedside lights blinding.
- Tania (10/5): Gorgeous little hide out in an old historic relic - The atmosphere
The king bed
The coffee bar
The quiet Slippery tiles in shower
Pebbles walking to door loud and felt unsafe to walk on
- Carolyn (9/5): -
- Deborah (8/5): Good place to stay in the way to Victoria - Flash Jacks is in a great location. Gundagai is a great town to stop in between Sydney and Melbourne.
The rooms are clean and fairly comfortable. It's the best place to stay in town.
Aircon is great.
Short walk to the pub and Niagara Cafe (a must do!) The bed is a bit worn out. There was a depression I had to sleep in.
There was no conditioner left. I didn't find out till halfway through my shower! I was really looking forward to using the beautiful products.
It would be nice to have 2 chairs, not one.
- John (10/5): Immaculately clean, well presented and enjoyed the quiet location. - The anonymity of the property. A surprising departure from lots of hotels/motels.
- Jennifer (10/5): Our 1 night stay was fabulous - Its age, the gorgeous garden, the security( though I must point out that the glass doors were not fully secured 1 time. The room and bathroom were fabulous! I was greatly surprised at how polished the guest house was and the town was delightful
- Jacqui (10/5): -
- Derek (10/5): An easy stay clean, quiet and comfotable - Clean and quiet Good location, close to town
- Rob (9/5): - Location was brilliant.
Communication and Instructions very good
- Vicki (10/5): Very Flash! - Extremely comfortable attractive room. Beautifully renovated building and grounds. Very quiet. Easy check-in.
- Josh (8/5): -
- Karen Powers (7/5): -
- Leslie (8/5): Awsome , relaxing - Our room was exceptionally clean and well appointed, nice and close to all amenities. The staff where very helpful and friendly. Nothing , was all good.
- kerry (10/5): Stylish very comfortable rooms in beautiful historical building - This is our 4th time and we love the property. Beautiful period rooms with comfortable beds and furniture/ convenient location to town . All good
- Helen (10/5): -
- Zeena (7/5): Beautifully renovated place - Beautifully renovated place in lovely grounds. Comfortable bed. Close to centre of town - about a 5min walk to cafes/shops. No wardrobe or anywhere to hang clothes. Could do with a thorough clean of the bathroom. Not all rooms have a bay window.
- Johanna (9/5): A beautifully appointed room. Gorgeous bathrooms and perfect location - Beautifully appointed rooms Walking over rocks to get to rooms 4 and 5. Can be noisy for a light sleeper….stepping stones could be an option
- Elizabeth (8/5): The stay at Flash Jacks was very comfortable having travelled a long distance. - There wasn't any breakfast facility at the place we stayed at so we had breakfast at one of the local coffee shops. We struggled to find the entrance to the motel because it was dark and the sign wasn't lit up. We also found it tricky finding our room. Once we found the room it was a pleasant stay.
- John David (8/5): -
- Anthony (8/5): - The room was clean and tidy. We had free parking and wifi. We were walking distance to the main street to look around town and to get to cafes and restaurants. We got takeaway and only had cutlery set for 1 person. It was not clear how we go about getting an extra set. Otherwise, everything was fine.
- Beth (8/5): Pretty building with large room and bath room. - Pretty location and building
Had everything you needed for a short stay. Thought it was a tad expensive compared to the alternatives.
- Scott (9/5): -
- Stacy (8/5): -
- Joanna (10/5): Lovely boutique hotel, in a great location. - Lovely boutique hotel in a great location. Nothing
- Glenn (8/5): A great conversion of a schoolhouse. Very tasteful - Great bathroom and big bedroom No toaster or microwave and no place to put soap in the shower
- Emily (10/5): - We loved how private and spacious the accommodation was. Beautiful high ceilings, cosy private balcony, plush and comfortable bed, 2 separate aircons for good airflow throughout the room and overall calm of the place. The self serve check in and and check out was very convenient too. Will definitely be staying there again.
- Ann (8/5): Beautiful old world charm. - It is a beautiful old house. It’s set up on the hill overlooking the township of Gundagai. It had lovely old features and felt cosy. There were no staff onsite. You book online and receive door codes.
- Hughes (10/5): Great place to sleep between Sydney/Melbourne - Quality beds All good
- Deborah (10/5): - Beautifully appointed property in Gundagai!
Great location .
Would not hesitate to recommend.

- Michael (8/5): -
- Graham (9/5): -
- Vass (10/5): -
- Jane (10/5): Great we will be back! - Great Location. Very quiet
- John (10/5): - I made a mistake in booking, but Flash Jack’s took care of us, adjusting our reservation by a day. The rooms, and especially the bathrooms, are exceptional!
- Bruce (9/5): One night only but very relaxing - Great location. Very quiet. Close to main street
- Phillip (10/5): -
- Jane (10/5): Great stay loved Gundagai . A lovely country town. - Location, it’s very .quiet.
In walking distance to cafes and shops.
- Nahrell (7/5): Well presented. Good kingsized bed. - Nicely presented apartment. Good location. Quiet Extra shelving would be appreciated in the bathroom. Nowhere to place your own toiletries.
- Peter (8/5): Nice and quiet. Very comfortable room. - Location was good. If it wasn't for two girls working in the front building it would have been difficult to find the rooms as they were located in the back.
The TV in room 7 blacked out after around 45 mins. Had sound no picture. Replaced the remote batteries and it worked fine for another 45 mins until it happened again. This happened during the NRL finals. Not good.
A set of steps from the building to the main street would have been great rather than walking around the corner and up the hill.
- Simon (1/5): Don’t stay in Gindagai - Don’t bother.
Need to pay 30 days prior no refund.
99 per cent of places have a 24 hour policy of cancelling with no charges.
- Don and Anna (9/5): -
- Steven (8/5): -
- Jim (9/5): -
- Ann (9/5): We had an excellent overnight stay to break up our journey to Sydney - The lay out of the rooms was lovely plenty of space for sitting and placing our bags.
Gardens lovely to walk around. Easy walk into town we could of had breakfast muesli and coffee pod machine for quick getaway in the morning.
- CD (7/5): -
- Tamplin (10/5): Very clean and comfortable -
- Gretchen (10/5): -
- lois (9/5): Delightful oasis - Historical, beautifully appointed No coffee machine
- Laura (9/5): -
- Neale (10/5): Great short stay - The location, the room size and decor, the ease of pre-check-in Our personal preference is a coffee pod machine rather plunger provided - but this was no biggy. My partner would have liked a full length dressing mirror somewhere.
- Arani (10/5): - Fantastic location and an absolutely beautiful renovation. The shower was divine. Check in super easy too Nothing
- Atchison (10/5): Exceeded expectations - Lovely decor , clean and spacious Nothing
- Jarrod (8/5): -
- Paul (7/5): Enjoyed everything except shower floor - Ambiance Shower floors needs non slip resurfacing
For older clients the showers were quite dangerous
- Michael (9/5): A cut above - A modern feel in a character building with openable windows overlooking the shady verandah with a view over the gardens to the distant hills. Restful, private.
- Susie (10/5): - Beautifully presented
- Clive (9/5): -
- Ravi (10/5): -
- Anna (10/5): -
- Philip (9/5): -
- Delwyn (10/5): Perfect place for an overnight stay between Melbourne and Sydney. Have booked for my return trip. - The rooms were large and really lovely. Aircon was very quiet and needed. Need coffee making instructions, I haven’t used a plunger for years and had no idea how many scoops of coffee recommended for the size of the plunger. Not an issue overall but just something to think about.
- Mary (10/5): - Beautiful, quiet Bathroom basin taps were incorrectly plumbed and opposite to correctly plumbed shower taps.
- Anthony (10/5): - Everything Nothing
- Nicole (8/5): Lovely property great position very clean. Only problem was you could hear other guests - Modern and extremely clean The rooms are not sound proof.
Could hear guests in other rooms talking and showering
- Susan (8/5): Always enjoy o - The cups were so tainted with coffee that our tea tasted horrible. You cannot have the same cups that are obviously not cleaned properly . There was a fair bit of dust on surfaces and We did not like having no bed head and as there is a window behind the bed the pillows kept slipping behind the bed
