- Condon (10/5): - The pillows were awesome No microwave and hot water took forever and check out should be 11am
- Gordena (7/5): Excellent - The view
The privacy of the location Wish there was a microwave
- Anna (7/5): -
- Bert (9/5): - Een geweldige locatie aan het Sunken Lake, in alle rust en kalmte genieten. We hebben gebruik kunnen maken van de keuken.
- Verna (10/5): - We loved the lake view. Very comfortable beds and clean rooms. We wished the outdoor shower was on the other side of the house or a bit of a privacy fence. We had neighbors out the whole time while showering.
- Nana Twyla (9/5): - Everything was clean and comfortable. The lake is beautiful, and we had little visitors, some cute little ducks
- Roger (9/5): will definitely be going back again - location right on the lake
- Julian (5/5): Passable -
- Darlene (6/5): Pleasant - There was bugs in the cottage. Japanese Beatles and big black ants
- Valerie (5/5): Passable - The location was beautiful and the beds was very comfortable. The shower was in the driveway with a camera on the corner of the house. The windows were covered in Asian beetles. I sent a message to the owner to let them know about the beetles and about a squirrel we think was in the eave by the chimmney, but The message was sent back. The cabin needs some TLC if they are going to be asking over 100$ a night.
- Brandon (1/5): Bad -
- Patricia (9/5): I look forward to staying there again! - I loved the whole experience TY! Knowing ahead that there was no tub or hot water
- Alexandra (9/5): Our stay was a well-needed getaway; we feel rejuvenated and ready to be back home with our crazy 2yr - We loved the open concept, the TV location, the wood stove, and the dinning table was an amazing size! The outdoor shower looked super cool, but it was too cold outside to shower. Also, the labeling was a genius idea; made it very easy to find everything!
- _she (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Restful. Beautiful. Escape. - Rustic. Location; so quiet, peaceful on a beautiful lake, isolated on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere. So clean: ample towels, cloths all wrapped attractively. Beds were very comfortable. Baseboard heaters and heat pump kept it warm even below 0C outside in October. Wood stove easy to use with wood provided. (Buy kindling.) Coffee maker, hair dryer and other appliances provided, including coffee and condiments. The outdoor shower was intimidating but when used turned out to be aa adventure treat. Shoes and shampoo, soap provided. No microwave. The sofa was older. Other furniture was good. A map of the route into the camp might help people with poor GPS.
- Cynthia (6/5): Nice place in a beautiful setting, but the host should be nearer the property and communicate better - Lovely location, correct and careful instructions on how to get to the place, clean throughout, and a surprisingly pleasant outdoor shower. There were no instructions on how to turn on the living room heating, so we had to call the host. There was only one extra blanket when there were two beds and it is October, so cool at night. When we pointed out that there was only one blanket, the host did not offer to bring more. The cottage has two bedrooms, not three. The third is in a camper van and we had no access to it. I understand the host's reasoning on billing it as 3 bedrooms, but the lack of access to a third bedroom and the reasons why should have been stated in advance. The kayak on the property should either be seaworthy or else not be available for use.
- Collins (8/5): Great spot for a quick getaway, lots of fireplaces and the history on the lake was incredible. - Location was off a dirt road, which was giving me the most country vibes. I truly enjoyed the two bedrooms with extremely comfortable beds. There could have been more serving dinnerware, not having enough dishware to serve meals was challenging. Check out time at 10am didn't work for us but I'm sure it has worked well for others. The outside shower will be challenging for some city folk, especially teens. CCTV location is directly out front where the shower is located.
The RV on the property would have been nice to be available for any surprise guests, where we had a team coming from town that would have stayed with us, had the RV been equipped with mattresses and bedding. Additional fees would have been paid of course, the option is always great to have. Also the couch was extremely uncomfortable. I am 9 months pregnant and did not enjoy laying or sitting on the couch.
Also could not get the TV to swivel on it's wall mount. Difficult to watch.
- Brandon (10/5): Exceptional - I like the whole environment of nature as well the quite . The price was very reasonable to. There wasn't anything we didn't like about our stay .
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Wendy (7/5): Good - Mini split. Probably could fix the deck. Maybe add some adorandik chairs by fire pit.
- Paul (10/5): It was exactly what we needed. - We liked it’s location the lake and its proximity to town. It’s rustic atmosphere. It’s was very quiet and relaxing. It was clean and had everything we needed. We loved swimming in the lake and our dog did too. No
- Thesmiths180 (9/5): Fabulous affordable rustic retreat - The view was amazing. Lots of ducks and frogs and loones. It was spectacular at full moon. The proximity to town was ok. A little drive to get you some peace and quiet. The beds were very comfy. It was clean. AC pump worked well on a very hot day. Booking.com (where we booked) showes 3 bedrooms and up to so many people with a pull out couch additionally. There are however only 2 rooms. So a little misleading when booking.
Check out is a little early at 10.
- Macmillan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Layton (9/5): Awesome time awesome view great location. - The lake view was awesome. We all the rustic character of cabin. The outdoor shower was pretty cool. The one thing maybe later on upgrade kayak and if there were 2 so people could go out together.
- Susanne (7/5): Great place we were only there for 1 night. Host very responsive. - Rustic with location fantastic, great views over lake, restful & quiet. As per advertised
- Allen (8/5): It was a comfortable cottage in a good location with helpful owners. -
- Bethany (10/5): I stayed at the cabin with a group of friends visiting Nova Scotia for a celebration of life of a friend; the cabin was - Beautiful property and very peaceful. Nothing was amiss!
- Karen (9/5): Superb - Beautiful spot on the water, very quiet and peaceful
- Forrest (10/5): Exceptional - Everything The ants lol
- Karen (10/5): Charming, rustic cabin with a VIEW - The view is spectacular - right on the water. It is a comfortable, rustic cabin and the hosts have put lots of thought into it. They are exceptional at communicating. My only tip for future guests - the sugar is kept in the fridge 😄. We had a wonderful time and would definitely visit again. It totally meets expectations. For my convenience I would have liked it to be closer to my daughter but that is obviously not possible - lol
- Marlene (7/5): Loved the feeling it brought to me and my granddaughter! - The location was amazing!!!! Host seemed wonderful. Everything you need for a guck get away! Coach was very dirty the pull out part underneath was full of crumbs, not to mention it is hard as rock. The toaster was all full of toast crumbs. Now that being said it was a very nice spot and we enjoys the night we stayed.
- Petronella (10/5): Great time, we loved it! - Location was fantastic! We will definitely be booking again! Nothing!
- Hen (10/5): Very lovely, recommended - The location
The facilities
The owners accessibility and cosideration
- Didiodato (8/5): A lovely stay at a lovely cottage with a lovely host, if money isn’t an issue. - All in all it was a lovely stay. Cozy cabin and the host was wonderful. He answered my questions and phone calls promptly with care. Lovely peaceful property in which was well equipped. The check out time is 10:00 AM, I found the morning very rushed. I’ll be seeking cottages with 11:00 AM check out times going forward. It was a last minute booking and we knew it was 10:00 but didn’t appreciate it at all.
The left side of the stove doesn’t work and we were not informed.
I personally feel the wood and kindling should be included in the price, I don’t like being knickle and dimed.
The price stated $103.00 for a night and I was charged $217.00. Pretty outrageous cleaning fees. Why separate the costs anyway, just advertise $217.00. The host very promptly called to advise of the difference which was kind of him and we were grateful but it’s deceiving.
- Jenny (10/5): Amazing! - We had the ABSOLUTE BEST TIME!
The cabin and property were stunning. The bed was super comfortable. We are huge fans of sitting around a nice fire and there was a PILE of firewood at our disposal. We had a great fire, great view. Everything was awesome! 10 stars is modest. Everything was great. I didn’t have time to use the outdoor shower, because of how long I spent at the fire, but it looked great!
- Charlene (1/5): will never come back here - the dock and waterfront is the only thing really Carpenter ant infestation, they were all over the floors and even in one of the beds; which made it so we had to sleep together. Shower is on the road side in the driveway on the opposite side of the entrance, so NOT private NOR feel safe (no lock and its outside). People driving by will see it. Managers there twice in 43 hours, so much for private time away ( when we arrived at 4pm and at 1pm the next day) because they needed something from inside ( which we let her in to obtain). Interrupted our time and it was uncomfortable/awkward and we did not appreciate the unexpected arrival without asking permission. Booked online and said we had till noon to check but they change it to 10am by email on the day of checkout. I have an email that states noon. Only 2 burners on stove work and one is really crooked so can't really use it. The place is musty and smelly of dampness, so not good if you are concerned with air quality. A total Waste of $500! We didn't ask for the almond milk, we asked where was the store; you brought it because you needed to get inside so used it as an excuse. Labelling me is an example of character and how you handle a poor review. The cleaner asked if she could go ahead and start, so I asked may we finish our coffee. we were outside. I advised you that I was rushed and I forgot to leave $5, for the 2 pieces of wood I used and you said not to worry. My apology was because I explained my reservation confirmation stated noon check out and was not aware you emailed me to say 10am. And we were all packed up ready to go. Deal with the carpenter ant infestation, fix the online check out time and don't treat someone poorly because they have a different check out time. Please don't twist my words and the situation and attack my character, this speaks volumes. This is an honest review and I am of sound mind :)
- Kelly (10/5): Beautiful getaway - The location and the cottage were awesome! Peaceful and serene space. Everything you need for a comfortable stay.Hosts were great, easy and friendly communication. Beautiful setting , we will definitely be back! We didn't stay long enough
- Cail (9/5): Great rustic stay, beautiful spot, clean swimmable lake - I loved the outdoor shower, and the dogs loved the lake it was perfect for them. There was no microwave
- Jim (9/5): Superb - Nice location on the lake A little bit confusing on how to get there but well worth it.
- Tammy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jessie-lynn (10/5): Exceptional - Quaint little spot sits on a beautiful lake. Beds were comfy and we had everything we needed
- Glen (3/5): The stay was fine. The price was not. We chose because of price ($66) but when we got the bill we were charged an extra - it was as described. Rustic but clean.
