Guest Reviews
- Vicki (10/5): - Great location and very comfortable stay.
Well stocked with everything needed for a great stay.
- Tina (10/5): - Very close to town A short stay for a weekend we lived the location, very clean
- Martha (10/5): - This place was absolutely perfect. The location couldn’t be better—everything you need is within easy walking distance, including some fantastic pubs, cafés, and shops. It made exploring the area so convenient and enjoyable.
The beds were incredibly comfortable, making it easy to relax and get a great night’s sleep after a day out. The overall cleanliness and attention to detail really stood out as well.
I would highly recommend staying here and would happily come back again!
- Marita (9/5): Fantastic home from home - Fantastic place - spacious, clean, well-equipped; we relaxed just stepping inside. Beautifully converted from the ballroom of the neighbouring heritage hotel. I loved sleeping below the quirky old ceiling. So many living spaces to enjoy, including an upstairs deck with views over the town, and an Italianate garden. Well-priced, quiet, just a few steps off the main street and walking distance to all the other sights and beaches. Could happily have stayed forever (except there was no wifi). So much to do and see in Queenscliff and nearby areas! No wifi. Nowadays, it should be considered as obligatory as hot water and electricity. Otherwise I’d have given it an 11!
- Helen (10/5): Enjoyable and comfortable - Excellent location. The property was clean and very nicely furnished.,
- Kathleen (9/5): Wonderful - Lovely unique property. Amazing location to everything in town, easy place to stay at ! Wifi or option for dvd player would be great :)
- Ann-Katrin (8/5): -
- sajeevini (10/5): Amazing location and beautiful historical building. - Amazing building and location
- Tanya (8/5): A lovely property tha suited our needs and expectations. - Extremely Comfy beds. Close to centre of town, well equipped kitchen, great water pressure in shower, aircon and fans, lovely shaded courtyard. No wifi.
- Helen (9/5): Fantastic stay, within walking distance to cafes, restaurants and ferry terminal. - The property was very unique with heaps of room to spread out. It was clean and well stocked. The apartment may not suit a family with toddlers but for older children it would be awesome with the area tucked away downstairs! I would definitely rebook if I’m in that area again, but for longer. We did have a bit of an issue with the remote for the gate, hopefully this was just a battery issue. One thing to be aware of is how much luggage you have as the spiral staircase could make it interesting.
- Peter (10/5): Really great place with an exceptional location. Hosts were excellent. Note third bedroom is on the mezzanine of the pro - Location was perfect The third bedroom is on a mezzanine so is very exposed to noise and lacks privacy
- Maree (5/5): Cold wet - Locations Cold
- Karen (9/5): Really enjoyed staying here - the location was perfect, the apartment was really comfortable and clean with everything c - The location was terrific with everything in walking distance and the apartment is a great combination of spacious and cosy, with the heating working really well. The beds were really comfortable, the shower pressure was awesome, and the kitchen was really well stocked with all the essentials. The stairs would be tricky if you had mobility issues, and the main bathroom being on the ground floor with two bedrooms on the second floor was odd (but not a reason to not to stay there).
- Sophie (10/5): It was very comfortable and short walk to beach cafes and shops - Location was great
- Sally (9/5): Amazing to stay in a heritage building, in such a fantastic location - walkable distance to beach and shops. We’ll defin - The location and space for a large group was fantastic! Staying in a heritage building was very special.
- Sul (9/5): The place was unique and comfortable with beautiful paintings. Beds were comfortable and it was walking distance to town - Heritage building with lots of character and quirky
Walking distance to town
Essential supplies provided
Beautiful paintings and comfortable furniture The second toilet upstairs was not very private
- Natasha (10/5): Great location, walking distance to everything in the town. Great communication and instructions about the property. - Very unique place to stay, lots of room and feels homey
- Bryony (9/5): Absolutely central, very quiet, all the comforts of home, perfect! - Absolute central location, steps from the Main Street but delightfully quiet. Immediately felt like our personal holiday home, every necessity and comfort, so much more than we expected.
A real pleasure to enjoy our holiday there…. Nothing, it was a total delight!
- Gemma (7/5): - We could not enter the property and park our car the parking spot, which was allocated to us, as the buttons provided did not work properly. We were forced to park on the street.
- Michael (9/5): - Location was superb for access to town and to wander down to the Blues Train.
- Venetia (6/5): Pleasant stay with a great location - Location was perfect. Apartment clean and comfortable. Fully stocked kitchen. Lovely, clean and large bathroom. Thank you. Interesting to have accommodation on booking.com that does not include wifi. Had issues with onsite secure parking - either the remote control to open the gates needs its battery changed and/or the gates need a service. We had to ask a neighbour to help open the gates so that we could get our car out. This neighbour advised that there are issues with the gates opening and closing. Interesting that I recall the accommodation stated that yes, the apartment was pet friendly but in fact it isn't.
- Joanne (10/5): Waltzing through history - Exceptional: architectural history and heritage maintained and incorporated into a modern multi-level apartment. A joy to discover and take in the ambience of each room - wonderful art works - well equipped kitchen - roomy bathroom - and glorious sun deck. We wished we could stay longer.
- carole (10/5): We love Queenscliff and this historical accommodation was fabulous. - Gorgeous gardens and quiet street. Interesting building design and layout. Comfy beds and good shower and bath. Works well for two couples with upstairs toilet and downstairs shower and bath. Kitchen well appointed. Just a note that spiral staircase to bedroom and bathroom is not for everyone! Need to be fit!
- Keisha (10/5): Amazing place - It exceeded what I expected. It facilitated everything we needed. It would be great place to stay especially for an extended amount of time. It is really a home away from home. Host was lovely and welcoming also. I would definitely return to stay again.
- Elsie (10/5): -
- Michael (9/5): - The well kitted out facilities supported a group of four with restful surrounds. A feature rich place with a sense of style and acknowledging the history of itself and the surrounding district.
- John-Paul (9/5): - The fact that the accommodation used to be part of a ball room more than a century ago is very special, and the location of the apartment is great, literally in the centre of everything.
We stayed at the room upstairs that overlooks ground floor, and the main heater was enough to make it very warm for us to sleep.
The kitchen is very well equipped for a simple brekky with ample cooking utencils and serveware. Unfortunately, due to the uniqueness of the accommodation, the locations of the bathroom and toilet require you to go up and down the stairs. If you have trouble with the spiral staircase, life would be a bit difficult.
Even though the accommodation has 3 rooms, i would not recommend 3 couples staying because there's only one bathroom all the way at the 'basement'. The two room at the top are fine for winter but might be too hot in summer, and the room downstairs will be great in summer but is freezing in winter.
The kitchen has no rangehood, and so if you want to really use the kitchen and whip out something fancier, the smoke will trigger the alarm. There is a BBQ on the balcony upstairs, but it would need to be cleaned to be used.
This one thing didn't affect our stay, but I noticed in the main bathroom above the dryer there are some black dusty spots that might have accumulated throughout the years. Maybe that should be checked out in the future.

- Maryanne (10/5): A gorgeous winter getaway. - A historic property brimming with personality. Very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Excellent heating for a winter stay.
- Min (9/5): A Queenscliff Gem! - Central location, close to everything Queenscliff has to offer. Beautiful facilities with a historic flare. Well equipped, has everything any visitor would need.
- Curtis (10/5): A very comfortable historic elegant apartment spread over 3 stories giving varied & divided spaces. - In a sensational location in Queenscliff this was a home away from home with all facilities that would be fantastic for a family with teenagers or especially for a group of adult friends who wished to give each other quiet space and privacy. An elegant variety of divided spaces in an historic setting. This is a holiday destination is so close to Melbourne but a world away in a timeless ocean seaside village. Need time to think? Need the ocean breeze in your face? Perfect! The lack of internet was an enforced a break from a digital life and step back in time and slowing of pace! The closeness to Geelong, a ferry ride to Sorrento-Portsea, big supermarkets in nearby Ocean Grove and the many galleries and things to do in this historic Queenscliff are advantages too. All communication with the owner was prompt, clear and supportive.
- Dale (8/5): We had a wonderful time… - Location great…
No breakfast… but very close. We would have liked better heating options for lower ground floor… bit chilly down there however, the bed was very warm once we were in bed…
Perhaps another power point in the lower hallway for the heater…
We were concerned about turning the heater on inside the bedroom…
- Kerry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jo-anne (8/5): We location to town was fabulous, as we didn’t have a car, so close to restaurants, cafes and shops. A very pleasant sta - Property was an interesting building on 3 levels and in a great location, right behind the Vue Grand Hotel. Owners offered use of pantry which was a nice touch. Wide variety of teas and coffee machine provided. We found the spiral staircase tricky, especially carrying luggage up and down. Bedroom on lower level was dark and confining and no fresh air. Pillows were disappointing.
However, bathroom was spotlessly clean.
- Narelle (10/5): A fabulous place to stay & great location. - Lovely property in central location. Very clean & comfortable. Nothing - was great

- Adam (10/5): Relaxing, comfortable and a cool place to stay! - A few of us came down for the weekend, mainly because of the Blues Train and we really enjoyed staying here.
Such a nice place with lots of space and different outdoor areas. We loved how the building has been converted and it was great to stay in. We would definitely stay again and recommend highly.
- Jared (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ky (10/5): Was very easy to book and pleasant.great location too with lots of parking - Was nice and big
- Andrew (7/5): Good -
- Daryn (8/5): Very good -
- Leann (9/5): Superb - The apartment was well located and clean, close to main shops, within walking distance. The apartment was big enough for 3 couples (6 people) it had everything we needed. One bedroom upstairs has a glass wall overlooking the main area. It wasn't a problem for us as air conditioning flowed into our room. The beds were comfortable. Bathroom wall semi opaque, but we worked around it. Leif is a great host and will accommodate anything you need. We had a great time staying here and in Queenscliff. Pillows were a little flat, but everyone has different comforts. Car parking space was small for our dual cab, neighbours accommodated us a space.Gate remote on hook in kitchen, took us a minute to find.
- Katherine (9/5): Superb -
- Joop (9/5): Great -
- Terry (9/5): Superb -
- Leonie (8/5): Very good -

- Elsie (10/5): Fantastic facilities, in a beautiful building with everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. - Fantastic facilities, in a beautiful building which had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay.
The location was also great as we could walk everywhere. There was nothing to not like.
- Christine (8/5): A brilliant place to stay as long as you are comfortable with using stairs often. - Excellent location, quirky and comfortable. Lots of added extra eg bathroom products, kitchen & pantry ,print, excellent, helpful communication with Leif Spiral stairs were a little more ‘challenging’ than expected especially when taking luggage up to the bedrooms.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Donna (8/5): Great, can’t wait to go back. - Location, was right in the centre, easily accessible. Found hair everywhere I think it may be pet friendly but just seemed to lack abit of cleanliness- my son found a dead cockroach under his bed.
- Catherine (8/5): Lovely apartment, well located in the centre of Queenscliff - Furnishings, well stocked, interesting design No bathroom on mid level. Basement bedroom felt a bit claustrophobic
- Sarah (10/5): Fantastic property. Historic, large, bright and comfortable. - Unique, historic property. Large, light and all the amenities you need.
The location is excellent. Nothing
