- david (8/5): Our second stay here - highly recommended - Spacious, lots of natural light, very peaceful. Location is perfect. Great shower and very comfortable bed. Nice coffee machine and good temperature control. Because there is no reception, everything is done thru email, and although Merel is very friendly and responsive, it’s not immediate and sometimes you just need an answer. Minor points - not really great to put a sign saying’ all drinks in the minibar are complimentary’ when the minibar is empty. Also, the safe didn’t work.
- Netta (8/5): The host was on call and most helpful - We loved the location and the beds were comfy The shower had no privacy at all with glass doors separating it from the corridor, and the light sensor in the bathroom comes on when anyone walks past it - for eg to use the WC in the night - effectively lighting up the apartment, and no way of turning it off other than to wait for it to go off after ten minutes or so

- Kerri (8/5): - Location, privacy, quiet, comfortable bed, coffee available Not really a hotel

- Elizabeth (9/5): - Fabulous location Lots of stairs ..steep and narrow , challenging with big suitcases

- Jennifer (10/5): Great location! - The location was so perfect. The area felt more local and less touristy, but still close to everything. The host was great and the drink fridge was a great touch. The room was very comfortable and we really loved our stay! Nothin! Everything was great.
- Khalid (10/5): Would do it again! - The location of the property is perfect and close to everything. Not to mention, the hotel is clean, organized and the highest floor room is spacious and has a great view on the street. The property owner is welcoming and helpful, she always keep in touch and support as much as she can.

- Brent (10/5): Best kept secret in the Nine Streets - Spacious, comfortable and well appointed rooms, great location and host Merel was an absolute delight. A new favourite.
- Lauren (10/5): -
- robert (10/5): Fantastic room in small boutique hotel. Our host was lovely she’s very helpful and kind. Perfect location. - It’s a beautiful old building in an excellent premiere location. The room we had was large and architecturally interesting with large beams. Nothing
- Samuel (10/5): -
- Rochelle (9/5): I’d highly recommend staying here! - Location was perfect, and the room was fantastic as it had a king bed that could be separated into twins, a huge shower area, a separate toilet room, a living-room with a fold-out sofa, a dining table with 4 chairs, a tv, a coffee bar and small fridge filled with sodas and beer. There wasn’t a mirror with a close outlet to plug in a hairdryer or curling iron, so made it a little challenging.
The steps up to the top apartment we stayed in were steep.
- Brian (10/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Our stay was excellent and you recommend to anyone. - Property is a fantastic location. Management were great and email comms were good and all we needed. The keypad locks take a bit of faffing around, first remembering the codes, second jiggling things a bit to get the doors open. Once you’ve use to it’s OK though.
- Michael (10/5): Perfect apartment - We stayed in the Berenstraat Suite, it is a very open and spacious apartment. The bed is very comfortable and the walk-in shower is very large with great water pressure.. Beautiful outdoor seating area on the roof top to enjoy. A perfect location to the many restaurants, boutique shops, and main station. The apartment was very clean and warm. Lovely stocked up mini fridge and nespresso machine adds to the holiday experience. There is also WiFi throughout. The owner is very friendly and always happy to help if you need anything. Can't wait to go back. Nothing
- Richard (10/5): Excellent stay! - Excellent location, clean, perfect stay, beds, linens, towels and robes all first class. Nice amenities in fridge and Nespresso coffee maker with pods. Door codes were hard to work at times. Wish there was a small mirror in bathroom with toilet and a coat hanger or hooks yo hang jackets at the door entry area.
- Bradley (10/5): 5-star apartment in amazing location. - Amazing location means you can walk to all the main attractions. The living space is enormous with incredible light streaming in, a fridge stocked with drinks, and fast wifi. Bed is very comfortable. The stairs to access the property aren’t for people who have mobility issues, but that is true for most of Amsterdam.
- Gerrad (1/5): This is NOT a hotel - The location was the only thing that I felt was a positive, but given the price point it's difficult to say that I actually liked it. It's just a fact. There are hundreds of other accommodations that provide similar access to the city. This is NOT a hotel so there is no onsite customer service and the remote customer service is not responsive. I wanted to make sure that I was not missing some language barrier so I asked multiple locals and staff at other hotels if this facility would be considered a hotel and none believed it should be labeled as one. To continue to advertise it as a hotel is a misrepresentation.
Upon arrival the front door was difficult to locate because the sign for the accommodation is high up on the building with no markings on the door, plus the keypad for entry was out of view within the alcove. The code to access the main door is 8 digits. I had trouble getting it to work because the instructions provided differ slightly from the actual method needed to open the door. It was frustrating to have to fiddle with the keypad after walking up and down the street in a rain storm trying to find the right door. After I finally got into the building I lugged my things up 2 floors and when I tried the separate 6 digit code for the room it did not work. I messaged the property and did not get a response. I called the customer service number which is actually an answering service that asked for an additional access code to speak to the property. When the property was finally reached they acknowledged that they gave me the wrong code. This entire process left me with an incredible amount of anxiety surrounding my ability to access the property if I experience any technical issues or my phone ran out of battery.
The room was cute, but there was loud street noise during the day and loud air traffic noise at night which meant that since there was no insulation in the roof the room has nearly 24 hours of noise. Even rain was very loud. The 'king' bed was two twins pushed together, which I have stayed on before without issue, unfortunately this bed did not a proper mattress topper causing the beds to separate and me to repeatedly fall into the middle.

- Bar-on (10/5): It will be your lucky stay. - The design of the space fully occupies my attention when i am here. The locks are challenging but not an impossibility.

- Joy (10/5): Exceptional - Good Location, comfy beds, really clean and the owner is really kind! Nothing
- Teresa (8/5): Cute, homey, comfortable and central. - The room was spacious and homey. This was our second stop on a 2 week trip, and It was the perfect place for us to take a load off and relax after a busy week and a half. The bedroom is cozy, and the beds are extremely comfortable. We certainly had no issues getting a full night's rest.
The location is central and about 10-15 min walk from any of the main attractions/ the central train station. It was our first time visiting Amsterdam, and we had no issues navigating to any of the places we needed to go. Just outside of the hotel, there are plenty of cute boutique stores, cafes and brunch spots. The host is lovely and willing to give tips of where to go and super accommodating! Check in was also super simple and she sent us instruction ahead of time. We were able to get in, no problem. The place was great and we don't have many complaints! It was a little tough to spot as we arrived late in the evening as there was some construction happening and the sign was blocked by scaffolding.
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (10/5): An excellent stay at Hotel IX. Absolutely recommend for a couple wanting quality accommodation in a quality location. - Beautifully clean on arrival, very spacious and great location for exploring Amsterdam. Nothing.
- Virginia (10/5): We really loved Amsterdam and the location of our hotel made it super easy to walk to everything - Great location, Merel was a really friendly and helpful host
- Alison (9/5): Superb - Front suite was quite noisy being close to the street.
- Claire (9/5): Perfect trip to celebrate my birthday - It was spacious and quiet which is lovely when you need to relax from the hustle and bustle of the main city centre.
The location is perfect, a 5 minute walk to Dam square and 10 min walk to the train station.
Merel is a lovely host and very accommodating Nothing

- Berk (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aaron (10/5): Exceptional -

Friendly Landlady Strongly recommended & suggested. TV need an upgrade 🫣
Not much variety in channels 😇
Bit noisy wooden stairs 😱
- Franco (8/5): Very good -
- Jennifer (10/5): Wonderful location and beautiful place! - Merel was so kind and helpful making sure we had what we needed and making recommendations. The location was ideal for walking/shopping and close to cafes. The room was large and beautiful. Beds were so comfortable. Not a bad thing but something to be aware of is the shower is on the way to the bedroom without a door. No big deal to us but something to note.
- Teuta (9/5): Superb -
- Louise (9/5): Superb -
- Lorenzo (10/5): Great accommodation - Thanks to Merel, a fantastic host. All together one of the best accommodation in Amsterdam
- Aaron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kamran (10/5): Great location in amsterdam - Location Over priced
- Anna (8/5): Fabulous location and easy access. - The amount of space Perhaps have an iron and the sound proofing from the room above.
- Melanie (9/5): Superb -
- Elan (10/5): Exceptional - Fabulous stay! Beautiful, comfortable, clean and spacious rooms. All the necessities plus a coffee maker and stocked mini fridge. Perfectly set away from the hoards of tourists while remaining centrally located. Easy to get to everything one would want to see or do. Merel is lovely, accommodating, and a gracious host offering assistance, local suggestions and guidance, help with dinner reservations, and even loaning us much appreciated umbrellas for the torrential downpour.
- Jón (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Danielle (10/5): Perfection and comfort - I can’t praise this location enough. Perfectly located in a charming, central location. Felt comfortable, safe, cozy and taken care of. Every single thing. Spotlessly clean, comfortable, perfect accommodations.

- Divya (8/5): Very good -
- Mehtap (9/5): Superb - The location of the hotel is great. It is completely located in the heart of Amsterdam. It has a huge hall. Everything was clean. Nothing
- Cara (10/5): Perfect, could not recommend more! - Second time staying at Hotel IX and again we had an amazing stay! The location is amazing, the rooms our delightful and Merel is just wonderful.
- Floris (10/5): Great place to stay in the middle of one of the best areas of Amsterdam. - Very nice, apartment style, serviced suite. Clean, modern, well-maintained. Free beverages included. Very good shower facility. Loved the comfortable bed. Great location in the middle of the Jordaan area. Walking distance to major areas or close to public transportation. The host, Merel, was super friendly and helpful with tips on restaurants and cafes in the area. Best bakery, lunch and coffee. Also, very helpful and flexible on check-in and check-out. The door code system is a bit getting used to, but actually works fine and adds flexibility on check-out day. The overhead flights to / from Amsterdam airport during the day were a bit annoying, but it seems to be a general issue for the area depending on the wind direction.
- Leslie (8/5): Great location very big room well appointed and extremely helpful staff. Mini bar full and free and very nice surprise. - The property was well located fairly quiet in the evenings, staff were amazing, the room was big which was great and the bed very comfortable. The stairs were very steep for 70 year olds but with help with our luggage by staff we were able to manage. Front door pad a little tricky but everything’s else was very very good.
- Riccardo (8/5): Very good - Great location and room design and confort No permanent staff but very responsive and helpful over text
- Debbie (10/5): wonderful xx - what an amazing gem!! thanks you Merel we absolutely loved our time at your hotel x great location x wonderful accommodation x had such a nice time xxx we will definitely be back xx 😘
- Eloise (7/5): Good -
- Tom (10/5): Perfect stay, good to meet and chat with Merel. 2 good restaurants nearby and a perfect little cafe bar. Stay would have - Great layout, very spacious Nothing
- Michael (10/5): One word “perfect “ - Everything Nothing
- Collins (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lizel (2/5): Lovely place but make sure you know how to enter - Roomy, clean in a nice area Finding the place and getting a code to enter.
No correspondence from the owner/company ahead of time to even warn or tell that you need a code to enter. Upon arrival after an 18hour flight, I was unable to enter. Google helped to find a number to call (after calling Booking.com’s offices and asking a number without success), and I was given the code. Not acceptable. I have sent 3x messages ahead of time to ask for an early check in which was not possible and I do understand that! I just mean that due to correspondence between us, there was enough time to alert me on what to expect and even to send the code.
- Li (10/5): Exceptional - The access to the hotel and the room was less than satisfactory. The key pad is in an inconvenient location and did not work at all. It was very frustrating. Other than that it was great.
- Barbara (5/5): Passable -
- Char-lee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alex (9/5): New favourite place to stay in the city - Fantastic room in a great location. Merel was great and really looked after us 👍🏻
- Ashumi (9/5): Superb -
- Sebastian (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing, very spacious and super central hotel. Super quiet at night and busy during the day. Perfect combination of vibrant city life and relaxing moments. Great staff as well. Can only recommend !!
- Devinka (8/5): Beautiful room and location but beware the stairs and doorlocks! - We stayed in the Studio Runstraat Suite and it was incredibly spacious. It is located on the first floor (there are no ground floor rooms) and is simply and nicely decorated with a great bathroom as well.
The hotel is in a very beautiful location surrounded by shops, cafes, restaurants, canals and is a 5 minute walk to the Anne Frank House and tram stops and is around a 15 minute walk to the main train station (Amsterdam Centraal) and the red light district.
The rooms are tidied up each day which was very nice.
We met one of the owners and her doggy and they were both absolutely lovely. * The safe in our room was locked by a previous guest and it took 2 days before the owner replaced the safe with one from another room.
* The keypad doorlocks were a nightmare. While I got the hang of opening the door to the building, I never got the hang of opening the room door (Studio Runstraat Suite) and my friend had to open it for me every time.
* There is no elevator and the stairs are directly in front of the building entrance door and are steep and narrow so you have to be very careful walking up and down them. Taking suitcases up the stairs is very difficult and you will need someone capable of lifting them. Some of the other rooms are up 2 flights of stairs.
We met some other guests staying there and they had the same issues with the doorlocks and stairs, however, I still recommend the hotel.
- Sacra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexander (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ali (7/5): Good -
- Kimberly (9/5): Superb - Loved the coziness of the room and the location. I also loved the dog that met us upon arrival. The door handles were hard to unlock. Not the code but turning and entering.
- Rhys (10/5): Beautiful apartment - highly recommend! - Very clean and spacious property.
Cute lounge area, comfortable bed, and great shower.
Mini fridge was stocked & had a coffee machine with pods.
Central area, so easy to get around either by foot or tram.
Only 20 min walk from Centraal station. Stairs are slightly steep, so just need to be careful when walking up and down, but have heard this is common in Amsterdam!
- Susan (9/5): Once we settled in, communicated with the owner, we were very happy with the property - Location, size, layout, convenience, well-appointed Street Entry pad needs to be replaced;
there was no advance notice on the reservation of the two flights of stairs to get to the suite (more challenging for seniors); received no ADVANCE notification of how to enter the property (we were expecting a Hotel with a reception) so this was surprising upon arrival. Bathroom has no windows and needs more lighting.
- Wenwan (7/5): Good -
- Linda (7/5): Good location but over priced for what is offered - Location It’s more like an Airbnb than hotel , there’s no reception or on site staff .
No elevator and very narrow stairs , so carrying the luggage up and down was so difficult .
- Donna (10/5): We would definitely stay there again. - The room, once we found it, was in a great location. Easy walking distance to everything we needed. It was clean and the staff and owner were fantastic. Would definitely recommend it. Coming from Canada, we were surprised that the second floor was actually the third floor there. It was a long way up with suitcases, but it did have a very nice view of the street. Also probably quieter.
- Will (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (10/5): Updated and comfortable in a great location! - Loved the aesthetic and layout of the space. Updated and clean but not sterile. Included in the stay were drinks in the mjni bar, plus coffee and teapot, which were thoughtful touches. Replenished daily. Little tricky getting in initially but appreciated detailed instructions which were helpful.
- Christi (10/5): Fabulous! - The location is second to none and the room beautiful and super clean. The fridge with free drinks is a really nice touch and so is the Nespresso machine. Nothing
- Rebecca (10/5): Wonderful suite in a fab location. - Beautifully located and exactly as it looks in the pictures-spacious, well decorated throughout and completely clean. The room is at the back of the house and therefore very quiet from outside noise.
Communication from Merel was excellent and really helpful. You could hear the people in the room above moving around quite clearly-but it is an old house with wooden floors-so rally it was to be expected.
- Sophia (10/5): Fantastic family stay in Hotel IX! - The rooms are spacious, stylish with comfy beds and modern facilities including a coffee machine and toiletries. The location in Jordaan is unbeatable as it’s close to everything but in a relatively quiet area with great shops and amenities. The keypad entry was a bit temperamental + frequent user error on our part too.
- Kathryn (4/5): We left the property and moved to a gorgeous hotel around the corner - The location, and it was large It has the name hotel in it, however it’s an Airbnb. The aircon was so loud you cannot use it.
The stairs to get into the property were incredibly difficult to take luggage up, and it was also tricky to put in codes needed for the downstairs and upstairs doors.
