- Webb (9/5): Lovely place to stay - Peaceful, private location, very comfortable and secure for my dogs and me. Comfortable bed, great facilities. The only improvement would be that there was no milk for my tea. I would have loved a small carton of UHT milk, as I didn't think to bring any
- Darrell (9/5): Cute and cosy, excellent value for money. - Cute and cosy, excellent value for money. And dog friendly, at no extra cost! Nice and quiet, but only a few mins drive from Paringa & less than 10mins drive from Renmark. Short drive to Woolshed Brewery. No complaints 🙂
- Booth (10/5): Exceptional - It was pet friendly!
- Jenifer (5/5): Disappointed - We never saw The Garden Cottage When we arrived there was no one there so I rang them. Told them We were for the The Garden Cottage but then she said we were staying at the River shack. So we went in and unpacked About an hour later we had a phone call to say we were in the wrong accommodation and had to move to the other accommodation as the people are were there waiting to get in We had travelled 450 kms that day so we stayed where we were. I am sure that were we stayed wasn’t up to the standard that the The Garden Cottage I am sure that we paid more money for our accommodation that it was worth Where we stayed it was basic but clean The lounge was completely worn out couldn’t sit on it unless you had a couple of pillows under you. Bad spot for the table and two chairs but the dogs were happy
- Andrew (8/5): Exactly what we expected a lovely cosy spot - Lovely setting. Host was very nice and very helpful.
The bird life was brilliant
- Damian (10/5): Well set up, relaxing, and the tranquility was amazing! - Beautiful little cottage that felt so relaxing. The owners were very helpful and friendly also. Great for a couples retreat/ getaway! There wasn’t anything we didn’t like. I would definitely stay there again for another quick getaway!

- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Craig (10/5): Awsome x -
- Karen (7/5): Good - The peaceful surrounds.
The deck Stain on sheet (blood)
Massive hole in flyscreen.
Quilt smelled like a dog blanket
The owner asked if I left a stain on the basin that was already there
No under cover parking

- Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carol (10/5): Brilliant, Jan was lovely and very helpful - Lovely and secluded very quiet
- Jo (7/5): Good -
- Garry (6/5): Not pet safe accommodation - Air-conditioner was good
Early check in was appreciated 40 degree day! We love a bush setting, but this properties dog fence was not snake proof and not high enough for our golden retriever, which meant our dog slept inside.
Torn floor lino looked unsightly. The bed was very hard. Exceptionally small area to sit on sofa, uncomfortable. There is no lid for the inside bin. Left a packet of biscuits on the kitchen sink overnight and was covered with ants the next day. Needed a 4wd to negotiate the road to the river, not a quick walk! The price charged for pet friendly accommodation should be enough to improve this property.
- Tracey (10/5): Must Stay - It was so relaxing, we had a fantastic time.
Everything we needed was supplied.
The birds in the morning were beautiful lovely view. We didn't book for longer
- Kerry (7/5): Not the prettiest location but it was clean. Bed was comfy plenty of hot water. Secure yard for our fur baby. Nice and p - Privacy. Could see the Murray river from the back door Interior needs a bit of a update
- Yvonne (9/5): A short holiday with/for my kelpie dog. - Dog friendly with fenced area around the cottage. Pleasant setting and comfortable stay with modern appliances. Everything needed for a short or long stay. Host was not intrusive and made us feel at home. Ideally, a larger fenced area around the cottage for an active dog but that's being wishful and selfish. Very satisfied thankyou.
- Shuna (9/5): Superb -

Little strip of garden Interior needs renovation
Kitchen supplies/equipment lacking
Outlook onto unkept bush and dumped items

- Fleur (8/5): Very good -
- Theresa (8/5): Would definitely stay again - Secluded and away from town Nothing

- Caitlin (7/5): Great, peaceful place. Beautiful location and safe space for my dog - Its a great, private little cottage that has a safe space for my dog and myself. Jan was amazing in giving us an extra gas bottle for the outdoor heater at 6pm at night. So hospitable :)
- Alesha (9/5): Loved our dog friendly stay - We enjoyed our stay! The cottage had everything we needed, great heating, hot water and comfy bed. Secure fencing meant the dogs were happy and loved walking down the 4wd track to the river! Would recommend the Paringa Hotel Motel for a good meal if you don't feel like cooking, too!
- Bernadette (8/5): A pleasant stay in a small, quiet, but well equipped lodging. Our little doggie loved the place. - No Breakfast supplied
- Helen (6/5): Pleasant - On booking this property it met all our needs specifically; location, an oven & washing machine. We received an automated message to contact the property owner to arrange check in. We did this. The property owner informed us the property we booked was having some issues & we could go into another property ‘The Shack’. I explained that we had booked the place specifically because we needed a washing machine & oven, we were advised we could use these in the property we booked but as it had heating issues we were best to stay in ‘The Shack’. This property was clean & comfortable. We were able to walk to the other property (what we actually purchased) to wash our clothes & cook our dinner in the oven. It was a pleasant stay however… we actually had to do 2 loads of washing, because we had to walk to the other property in the dark & cold we just did 1 load. We had to wait around for our dinner in the oven & then carefully carry it back to where we were actually spending the night. We made do but our plan in booking this was to get washing on, dinner in the oven & grab a shower, our night became longer because we did not receive what we purchased, this matters after a long day on the road. Now to the shower, I had a shower, not long at all, hubby then showered & while showering the hot water was gone, he was quite shocked. Overall ‘The Shack’ itself was clean & comfortable but it was not what we booked based on our needs. Under Australian consumer laws this is a breach. We can’t understand why what we booked had simply not been removed from this platform to begin with, if it is not prepared for a sale/accommodation just don’t have it up online. False advertising.
- Margaret (8/5): Peaceful, well equipped, views of river. Very happy. - Ideal peaceful location overlooking the river. Cottage was great. Comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen, everything we needed. We walked down to the river which only took a few minutes. It is possible to drive down in 4WD. Loved the chairs by the edge of the river.
We were not travelling with a pet but great to see a place so well set up for pets. All excellent. No complaints
- John (5/5): Average - A table and chairs would have been good.
Outside should be gravel where vehicle is parked as when it rains it would become muddy.
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (7/5): My stay was perfect, exactly what I needed, fresh air and nature to rest. - The view was amazing, and the fact that it was pet friendly with a secure fence was perfect It was a bit dusty which didn’t help with allergies and the aircon didn’t keep the space cool enough and needed to be cleaned. There were a lot of ants inside as well and I didn’t want to leave food unattended.
- Chris (8/5): A fitting location in sight of the Murray for our last day in South Australia - Enjoyed relaxing on the shaded and quiet deck area after a long drive. Not glamorous accommodation but fit for purpose.
