- Achim (9/5): - A Fijian resort, the warmth of the staff, their overall happiness, just beautiful!
It doesn't have to be perfect to be perfect, provided it is authentic. And that is what it was.
A wonderful stay and experience! Thank you so very much!
Cheers Achim
- Nathasja (4/5): Teleurstellend verblijf in White Sandy Beach.
- S (6/5): - Bures are located right across the beach, beautiful house corals and swimming just off the beach. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel like family Water pressure is a bit of the problem with water not available for showers many times throughout the day. Electricity is only 4hrs a day

- Svenja (10/5): Beautiful! - A great place at a beautiful beach with beautiful people! Thanks a lot to Aggi and Mel, it was a great time!
- Andrew (10/5): A slice of true Fijian paradise! - We just spent six nights at White Sandy Beach, and wish we were able to stay longer. Welcoming and lovely staff made our family feel at home. Wonderful beachfront bure with direct access to the beach and reef, great shade and lots of facilities and activities for the adults and kids. Daily coconuts for all was a lovely bonus!
- Charlotte (6/5): Lovely place to stay but improvements to the property and service would make it wonderful. - The location was great - right on the beach with a reef for snorkelling on your door step. Staff are super friendly and lovely to guests. The place is a bit rundown and needs better food. The snorkeling gear needs some new purchases as many of the masks are in disrepair.
- Alexander (9/5): Superb - The people are fantastic and a joy to know. They were very accommodating, always happy, helpful and fun to hang out with at the end of the day. There is no TV and the electricity goes off at 9. But we werre usually exhausted after a day swimming, snorkelling or hiking and ready for bed at 7 most nights. Hearing them sing and interacting with their families was as much a highlight as swimming with tens of thousands of colorful fish and being overwhelmed with the sheer scale of the barrier reef Dont kid yourself, this is a homestay and is very basic. If you expect a white glove service then this is not for you. The food varied between awesome and very bland and rather starchy. Though the portions were more than adequate. But if you want to experience the people and culture of the real Fiji then this was an awesome few days.
- Kenny (10/5): Exceptional - Loved my time at White Sandy Beaches. The staff were lovely people and the hut was on the beach facing the sea. The coral started 15 metres into the bay, like fliving a natural history documentary. Idyllic. Sure, there was only power for 3 hours in the evening and no AC but this helped to really switch off and slow down to match the pace of the island. I would go back there again
- Gary (10/5): Perfect - Amazing location. Great beach and reef. Wonderful walks to secluded beaches. Great food. Awesome friendly staff. Very simple living, no bells and whistles. Expert Manta Ray guides. Loved the trip to church. No mozzies in late June. Perfect place to switch off and unwind. Not 5 star, but we found it perfect. Should have stayed longer.
- Charlie (10/5): Best place ever 😁 - The place is stunning and the girls on charge are the best. We had so much fun, they always offer activities and the food was amazing.
There’s a really cool and beautiful beach to hang out just 10 minutes walking from there. The water was slow to come to our room, sometimes we had none but it is expected in this type of place. They gave us a bucket which immediately solved the problem. :)
- Melina (8/5): Great memories at white sandy beach and loved the family aspect. The food provided on the meal plan ($60) was ample and - Beautiful location!! Saw incredible view of the ocean during sunset.
This is basic accomodation, more like a home stay and it is good value for money compared to other more expensive accomodation options
Make sure you have cash to pay for accomodation at activities
Otherwise can use world remit app to pay. Super easy for Australians to set up, harder for the Italian couple who was there at the same time as us
Boat transfer is an extra 30pp
Highlight of the trip was seeing manta rays!! It was $100pp and the guides were great at maximising how many we saw. They will only take you out if they have been spotted the day prior. In the weeks before us they hadn’t seen any for a while
Electricity available 6-10pm and you can charge your phone at this time in the dining area
Drinking water available when having meals can ask to fill up bottle Very low pressure shower but it’s enough to rinse off
There were wasps in windows of the room but they never bothered us
- Katrin (8/5): Beautiful area and great views all around… very nice entertainment by the staff… we had a great time! - Great location - House reef was in a great condition and we loved to explore this. Very lovely staff! Water pressure was very low - but we handled it 😅
- Lucia (9/5): A must stay in Fiji! - If you haven’t had a guesthouse experience in Fiji, you have to stay here! Mela and Lela are super kind hosts, that will cook the most delicious food and even take you to play volleyball by the beach! One of my best stays in Fiji, totally recommend!
- Libby (9/5): Pure, remote, friendly Fiji. - Warm welcoming friendly people, Kaisia, Mita, Bruce and the team. They went well over and above what anyone could expect as they are still recovering from devastation of Covid. Room was huge with large terrace and internal bathroom. Expect limited power and no shop as you are on remote island with limited facilities which was more than made up by willingness of staff. Many many thanks. Leaving it and saying goodbye.
- Ekaterina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tyler (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff and beautiful scenery
- Juan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (8/5): Incredible staff and really great location! Be aware no electricity and rooms are delapidated. - The beach and snorkeling are the best we saw in Fiji No electricity with the Fijian heat was hard.
- Ruth (10/5): We loved our White Sandy stay, everything about it is memorable. - The resort was simple but well taken care of and the staff were fantastic. Swimming was lovely especially at high tide.
- Kotlyar (9/5): See above on what we liked. - Effectively it is five bungalows and dorm house located practically on the beach of calm bay with plenty of coral for snorkeling. Coral is not too close to the beach so there is plants of room for splashing around on sandy bottom. Wonderful team to take care of you. Guitar music and songs most of the day (not on request but just because girls on staff felt like singing, sometimes men joined). Coconuts, papaya, mangos — all you can eat. Tasty food and places to go to nearby resort, backpackers homestay over the hill, villa on the other side of the bay, hills and secluded beaches to explore. We went there off season
- Bridget (10/5): Fiji perfection… Loved it- loved the place, the people and the inclusive loving way they were - Loved the location- think white sandy beach, coconut trees, warm ocean, peaceful, incredibly kind welcoming people who made us feel like part of their family, small number of guests, endless fresh coconuts, mango, papaya… topped with lovely food and fun activities and games that everyone got into. Just perfect. It doesn’t get more beach front, Fiji perfect than this!! We are a family of two adults and two teens and we all loved it and felt so comfortable. Being an island fresh water is a precious resource so the shower is not what you may be hoping for- but it works for a rinse off which was fine for us.
- Danya (8/5): A beautiful and peaceful location with basic facilities - step back in time :-) - beautiful location, quiet and excellent snorkelling the reef here is in good shape in comparison to other areas in Yasawa. Lots of colourful coral :-) Staff were very friendly and helpful, enjoyed my stay here.
- Uladzislau (5/5): Looks like the place running on half gas - The beach and snorkel around Bungalow where we stayed was pretty small for 2. There are some negative points about the accomodation:
Electricity only after 6 p.m and water for shower as well, not enough food and variety . I understand that is a remote island and provisions could be difficult to get there but this not happening on the another islands close by where we stayed before. On our arrival nobody explained about these issues. Extra charge 30 FJD PP for picking guests from Yasawa flyer on like 2 minutes ride. In my opinion worthless for the price of accomodation, service and food.
- Franck (3/5): Poor - Friendly staff and great location. Food is okay. No more an hotel... The place is no more maintained, and left abandoned. Thought the lack of electricity and network is not an issue, the rooms do not worth the price and need TLC. The pictures on the booking site were probably taken 15 years ago.
Be careful: CASH ONLY!!
- Eiko (9/5): Happy place wish to go back. - Near the beach, beautiful corals around.
Outdoor shower in each cabin. Kind stuff members. All good.
- Cheveyo (3/5): Dilapidated. - Friendly hosts and beautiful location. White Sandy Beach feels like an abandoned establishment that’s still accepting guests.
Very rundown and dilapidated property. We are familiar and content with basic, but this is solidly in a different category altogether.
No electricity except for a single shared power strip in the common area from 6-10pm. Cold water with pressure varying from very poor to nonexistent. Our room had a barrel of cold water and a bucket for bathing.
Lots of mice, roaches, and ants in the rooms at night.
Food was hit and miss, but always room temperature and often obviously prepared several hours prior to serving.
We were told all of this was due to an ongoing effort to recover from the impact of Covid, but this became very difficult to believe as we stayed at other home stays in the Yasawas, which *all* ended up being much less expensive and simultaneously way nicer than this place.
*Everything* from the bottled water to the boat transfer cost 2-3x more than any other location we stayed at. So why was the quality so much lower? In the end it’s tough to see it as anything other than a ripoff.
- Silvia (10/5): Best time in Fiji - Everything was amazing! The family is so kind and very welcoming. We felt like we were part of them. It's very traditional and we felt very close to their culture. I would recommend this place thousand times! A special thanks to the boys to make my wish to go to the Blue Lagoon come true. It wasn't on the activities but I've asked if they could take us and in 24 hours they organised everything. Food very good, Siga is an exceptional chef. Can't thank enough all of them!
- Michael (1/5): Check out your booking - When we arrived they had overbooked .
We had email contact with the property but they did not have our reservation We didn’t stay and had to find another resort
- Nina (6/5): A neglected slice of paradise. - The whole setup would be perfect, but the resort has been completely neglected & felt forgotten.
The staff was lovely & the beach itself was absolutely sensational. A bit of a let down in terms of maintenance, the rooms, as well as the common areas are in a desperate need of love.
As mentioned previously, if felt completely abandoned.
Some of the buildings (dive shop, etc) were not operational, the one where we had our meals was a bit falling apart.
There was no activity available apart from the Village hike.
The resort next door was more equipped with better facilities.
The potential is there, but I believe after COVID closures, they never managed to recover.
- Rebecca (1/5): Avoid - Lots of people complaining about the rooms. Very rundown. Bugs everywhere, beds/doors broken. No where to get a drink. No water/electricity. Couples leaving early. They overbooked so we were placed elsewhere which everyone staying said was the best thing that could happen.
- Vaufrey (4/5): Way too expensive - They're no electricity in the room and pretty much no water for toilets and shower...
- Linda (7/5): Lovely helpful staff , good local food , very quiet, great location for swimming with Manta rays - This was a home stay . The food in general was excellent including breakfast. The breakfast area was basic the resort is still recovering from the effect of Covid We expected basic accommodation but were surprised that there was a very limited and sometimes non existent water supply for showering.
- Margarita (9/5): Superb - The place is beautiful. Don’t expect luxury, but you will enjoy delicious food during your stay and receive the best treatment. Very good people.
- Florencia (7/5): No mantarays trip scheduled during our stay - disappointing - friendliness of the staff, location of the resort, amazing food We booked our stay at White Sandy because they advertised themselves as providing great manta snorkeling options. We stayed for two nights (from
Saturday until Monday). On Saturday they informed us that there was no manta trip in Sunday but that we would be able to go in Monday morning. On Sunday evening, they told us that there would not be a manta ray trip on Monday either, without giving any explanation… quite disappointing for a place that advertises itself as offering the « best manta ray snorkeling ».
As mentioned in many other comments, the facilities are extremely basic. They ran out of fuel and of electricity on our second day and we had almost no water to shower. Also, I would recommend bringing your own drinking water from the mainland. There is another resort, owned by the same family, right next to White Sandy and the facilities were in a better state. They also look more reliable in terms of activities offered.
- Philip (3/5): Poor -
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (7/5): An inexpensive option to enjoy the beauty of the Yasawas. Very basic facilities - Beautiful white sandy beach right outside your door.
Amazing coral garden and tropical fish
Close by to trips for the swimming with manta rays. Which was amazing!
Delicious meals
Super relaxed and quiet Everything there is pretty rundown and falling into disrepair. Needs a lot of work
Could hear rats scratching around in the roof of our burre. DO NOT have food with you in the burres!!
We were in the furthest burre from the main building, which meant our water pressure was so weak the shower could barely rinse soap off us, and no water coming to our sink at all.
Make sure and bring plenty of cash to cover the expenses. We were made to register with and use this app "Remit" to pay. Which was untimely legit, but made me uncomfortable. It didn't end up working, so I used a bank transfer which I wanted to use first and foremost which worked fine, but they tried very hard to discourage me from doing so and to use the app.
- Suzienz (8/5): Incredible stay at White Sandy Beach!! - I really loved my stay here!! The setting was incredibly beautiful. The beach out front was lovely and the snorkeling was very good too. Huge variety & number of reef fish. The food they served us was really good and they accommodated for my dietary needs. The staff were great, very helpful and friendly. I will come back for sure!! This is a great place to come if you want beauty and peace. If you want luxury - not the right place! It was very rustic and no electricity in my bure. However was not too bothered and the positives much outweighed this!
- David (7/5): Friendly, basic, family-run lodge on a great beach, far from the (maddening) crowd. - A good, pristine beach with amazing corals not far out. As with most islands, very tidal, so swimming not so easy at low tide, but another small beach (nicknamed 'Honeymoon' beach) a 10-minute walk and climb over a hill through the forest with great swimming. Friendly host Emi and team make everyone feel welcome. Electricity from 6-9pm, cash only. It was my first island stay so didn't have much to compare it to, but any shortcomings were made up for by the friendly, laid-back vibe, tasty home-cooked food, and a truly lovely setting. Unfortunately the whole place is a bit run down and needs better maintenance and TLC. I think it is still struggling to recover from aftermath of covid and they seem short-staffed. No bar, not even soft drinks for sale, just water. There is an even more run-down 'resort' up the beach which does sell beer only. My bure had very little water pressure but who needs a shower anyway in such a place!
- Scholz (4/5): Disappointing - Located in a nice bay. Swimming was nice. No running water. Mobile phone needed to be collected and charged at a different place. No electricity at all for the time I was there.
- Derek (10/5): White Sandy - A delightful family Hol - It was like staying with favourite family The hosts were so welcoming and friendly, took me for walks, & played cards in the evening. The little kids were delightful, showing me all sorts of treasures from crabs to butterflies Nothing
- Van (8/5): Very good -
- Simone (9/5): Relaxing homestay - We really enjoyed our stay with the family. Everyone is nice and welcoming. Food is good. If you like to be in a remote place without modern amenities, this is the place for you. Unfortunately, the rooms are REALLY run down and require a complete renovation. There's no power, but it is part of the experience. Swimming can always be done but better with high tide.
- Elad (10/5): Exceptional - Very basic place to stay.
The most wonderful hosts!
Had a great time
- Lena (10/5): Exceptional - the family was so welcoming and lovely! really enjoyed our stay there, traditional and real fiji experience, the food was great and the location and beach was perfect for relaxing and snorkeling!
- Claire (1/5): Would not recommend - The beach was nice, water was clear and nice to swim in To start with when paying I was told I wouldn't be getting any change so I was left being owed almost 50 FJD
At night rats came into my room ate a hole through my bag and ate some chocolate I had inside. They left droppings all over my bag and the room. Very unsanitary.
On my second day Si offered to take me on an easy walk to the local village, 45 minutes just along the beach I was told. It was actually 3 hours of extremely difficult hiking through thick jungle. Si did not actually guide or help where to step so I fell multiple times badly hurting my hip. After I fell and cried he laughed at me and told me it was because I spent my whole life sitting down. After the village visit he said we could take a boat back but it would cost 100 FJD I agreed as I knew I wouldn't be able to manage back through the jungle. When we arrived back to white sandy, he said actually no it's 180FJD. Then he told me I still needed to pay for the hellish hike. I explained that I couldn't pay unless I got the change I was owed but he continued to ask me multiple times until I left. I felt very intimidated by him and also one of the male staff members from the resort next door made me feel very uncomfortable by asking multiple times if I would go off on my own with him or coming and sitting next closely to me while I was sitting by myself reading.
I wouldn't recommend to anyone but definitely not to female solo travellers
- Antia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicolò (10/5): Exceptional - Emi Roko and Pita are lovely hosts, we felt really like part of the family!
Naviti Island is perfect Point for snorkeling with big Mantas! Besides that is one of the most beautiful islands in the Yasawas.
Food is delicious and the cabin just in front of the beach. Electricity is limited but was the part we appreciated more! ❤
- Giulia (10/5): Manta Snorkelling and lovely people - Emi (Roko) was a lovely host she makes sure we enjoyed every moments at White sandy!
The beach is so romantic and food very fresh and tasty.
If you want to have a local experience and at the same time have a nice bungalow just few steps from the beach, then this is the perfect place! This island and Nacula island where the highlights of our Fijian holidays.
Manta snorkelling is very recommended.
Remember to bring lots of cash with you so you can do all the activities and pay room and food ( the place is safe!)
