- Betina (8/5): - Wunderbare Gastfreundschaft!
- Karen (5/5): I would suggest that they have a reception area and kitchen off-limits to the guests. - The tents were clean and comfortable Too much interaction from the hosts. But this may only be my opinion.
- Colin (10/5): Extremely quiet, comfortable in the bush - Russel and Verena are exceptional hosts, very entertaining and nothing is too much trouble. Excellent evening meal, breakfast delivered picnic style to our tent. Very private in the bush, loved it. Highly recommended nothing
- Heleen (9/5): Perfect accomodation and wonderful hosts - It was a wonderful stay. We felt very welcome and enjoyed this lodge a lot! The quiet atmosphere, the comfortable tent and most of all the delicious food all made sure we had a very pleasant stay here.
Russel very well organized a mokoro trip for us and made sure that everything went smooth. Don’t mention snakes ;)
- Justine (10/5): - Russ and his wife gave us a very warm welcome and took plenty of time for us. Dinner was absolutely delicious.
- Olga (10/5): A wonderful family stay in the bush with exceptional hosts! - We had a wonderful time at Tshima Bush camp with the family. The tent was spacious, clean, and nicely decorated. Russell and Verena are wonderful hosts, who have put a lot of time and effort into turning the camp into a little slice of paradise (everything is made of wood, metal and other natural materials, very sustainable). Our son loved playing in the camp grounds with the animals (Bella the dog, the kitties, Kentucky the chicken and many birds), we loved sitting around the table enjoying the views and relaxing. Verena is an amazing cook, who cooks all meals from scratch (I strongly recommend the lunch and/or dinner option). Sitting next to the fire with other guests and sampling her delicacies, while sharing stories about Africa, was an experience to treasure. The mokoro trip in the Okavanago Delta was the highlight of our trip. Thank you for everything Russell and Verena (and Bella of course)! Nothing
- Lesley (8/5): Definitely worth a stop - Very hospitable hosts, loads of excitement and good food.
Love the carefully swept paths
- Lise (10/5): Wonderful Hospitality - We were looking for a convenient stopover close to Maun but outside of town, and Tshima Bush Camp, located about 30 minutes toward Ghanzi, suited us perfectly.
We stayed in Tent No. 4, which was both practical and comfortable, furnished with beautiful, handcrafted pieces made by the owner, Russell. A real highlight was the bathroom—with its half-wall of netting, we could enjoy the sunrise right from the shower, which was a lovely way to start the day.
Although we hadn’t originally planned to have dinner at the camp, we’re so glad we decided to. Russell and Verena are warm, attentive hosts who prepared an outstanding meal. Every detail—from the homemade mayonnaise served with fresh chips to the perfectly cooked steak and béarnaise sauce—was thoughtful and delicious.
The breakfast basket the next morning was a delightful surprise and much appreciated.
It’s clear how much care and attention Russell and Verena put into their owner-run camp. Their personal touch was felt throughout our stay.
Thank you both for your kind hospitality.
- Susan (8/5): Very good - Our hosts were very friendly and both the evening meal and breakfast were beautifully prepared and presented. Camp is located in a very natural bush land setting.
- Wouter (10/5): Great place managed by amazing hosts - Great location, clean tents, and amazing food - all managed by wonderful hosts. Highly recommended to stay here when travelling past Maun. Nothing!
- Christian (10/5): Exceptional - Nice owners, nice location and nice tents. Not to forget the great dinner and breakfast.
- Tobias (10/5): Exceptional - We enjoyed staying at Tshima Bush Camp and enjoyed the hospitality of Verena and Russ. Food was absolutely outstanding and we enjoyed walking to the unfortunately bone dry river bed right at the camp spotting an aardvark. Tents were comfortable and cozy! We'll come back!!!
- Dominique (10/5): Fantastic couple offers unforgettable experience - All four tents have their own private little area, which makes it a very unique experience. We really felt like being in Botswana while we were there. Especially by staying there for 3 nights we could really enjoy everything there was on offer.
The beds (covered by mosquito nets) are big and the tent as a whole is very comfortable. Most furniture is handmade by the owner and of the highest quality.
Russell and Verena treat you like friends and love to make you a 3 course dinner. They are always available for a nice chat during the day or a relaxing drink in the evening.
Their passion is of a very high level. They know exactly who they should contact to give you best value for money if it comes to day trips or experiencing the area.
The breakfast was one of the best we ever had in 15 years of travelling the globe. Every element was selected with utmost care and presented to us every morning in front of our tent in a beautifully arranged basket on whatever time we wished for. Most things are handmade and you can really taste the love. The fresh bread was excellent. The soft-boiled eggs were perfectly cooked. The yoghurt, the cheese/meat on a platter, the small cut fruit in a glass and the juice were all very delicious.
So if you are searching for a place to stay in this area, then this is absolutely the place to go. You won't regret it.
- Deborah (9/5): Fabulous hosts and very homely . Would highly recommend. - Russell and Verena would great , really looked after you . Verena’s food is lovely and homemade and made with love. They arranged the excursions and they were both good as well. I would highly recommend a stay here . Belle & Rasta ( the dogs) were so sweet. They greeted you in the morning- so cute 🥰. Nothing
- Marian (10/5): very pleasant and attentive hosts. Living in a tent was great. Clean and cozy. The hosts prepared us a tasty dinner and - level of equipment and tent
the food was exceptional
- Kevin (10/5): Highly recommended - A true guesthouse experience including great facilities and AMAZING food! -
- Elizabeth (9/5): Peaceful bush camp with great hospitality - Russell and Verena are warm and generous hosts. The bush camp is a fun way to experience a little glamping. Favorites: we liked the blend of rustic camp and comfort, the stargazing was unparalleled, and the hosts are funny, welcoming, and hospitable. Check them out! 40 minutes from Maun—if your intention is to be close to town and activities, this isn’t the best option, but if you want to be in a peaceful bush camp with incredible views of the night sky, consider Tshima.
- Nicola (8/5): Superb food and lovely owners - Friendly, welcoming owners, superb dinner, one of the best we had over our five week trip, and the best panna cotta I've ever had. The breakfast basket delivered to our tent was perfect and we really enjoyed our night here. The tent was a bit basic for the price.
- Trevor (9/5): Great stopover and will highly recommend this place. - The accommodation was well thought out and everything one needed was available. The dinner and breakfast was restaurant standard and delicious.
- Dr. (9/5): Nice place, well designed, good hosts and perfect food. - A very nice place where they really try to make our footprint as small as possibe. No plastics at all, paper bags for rubbish, solar energy. Self prepared water in glass bottes etc. We enjoyed that. Very good food and excellent company from Russell and Verena. Perfect stop-over none
- Donatella (10/5): Botswana hospitality - "true luxury" style- luxury that you cannot buy !! - We had the most wonderful food here- best during our stay in Botswana. We loved our "family" stay. We felt very much at home !!! Pity we couldn't stay longer!
- Quentin (9/5): Superb -
- Marc (10/5): Exceptional - Little piece of paradise for ending our Namibia/Botswana trip on our way from Maun to Ngoma border. The owners Verena and Russel went out of their way to make us feel at home. Great talks with them and dinner and breakfast was top notch. Authentic tented
bush camp that we will certainly visit again when we are in Botswana/Maun.
- Andrew (6/5): Pleasant -
