It looked different when we were already there. We were expecting the double bed + pull bed room but the unit we were referred to was for 3 futons.

• 小野寺　 (9/5): 過ごしやすかった - ホストの対応が迅速かつ丁寧でとても過ごしやすかった。 設備も綺麗で、思っていた以上に整っていた。立地も駅から近くて移動に便利。 収納等もしっかりしているため、長期滞在でも不便がないと思う。 エアコンだけだと寝るときに寒かった。布団をもう少し温かいものにするか、寝間着を温かいものを用意するように案内して欲しい。

• Reuben (5/5): Small, difficult stairway access and room interior. Not recommended for people with larger luggage. - Washing machine facilities. New and clean interior. No lift access. Small staircase made it difficult to carry luggage up and down the stairs. The floor mounted TV stand blocked the floor space. It should be mounted on the wall to save space. Labels on the light switches.

• Lidia (1/5): Life HAZARD! - Filthy two level split apartment in the basement, infested with BLACK MOLD on the walls as well as in the corners of the floor's moulding. Also, green mold covered the steel stair's railings and on the door itself. There was a nauseating and lingering odour of the mold throughout the apartment. Lower floor with the kitchen and washroom were wet from the moisture. The place was too small to fit two sleeping futons without blocking access to the fridge, staircase or washroom. It was not functional at all for 3 people (that I was charged for) and at that point no place for luggage either. Even though the reservation was for two futons and a bed, only the one folding mattress and single-sized bed was available. Old covers were piled up in the closet and not even dressed in sheets. After paying D-Waseda for apartment, I received Contract without an option to withdraw, stipulating additional possible fees if: 1. Not recycling garbage properly. (FYI recycling system varies depending from the Ward in Japan) 2. Not placing furniture back to the original spot. There were a few more random possible charges... Overall it was: dirty, smelly, and a genuine health hazard!

• Teodora (1/5): Misleading listing – very poor stay - The check-in process was smooth and the location is convenient. Communication with the host was relatively quick, and we appreciated the partial refund after reporting the issues. We booked the 2-bedroom apartment, but what we got didn’t match the photos or the description at all. There was only one single bed, and the other two sleeping spots were just very thin pads stored in the closet — not proper futons, and definitely not a second bedroom. We were not informed in advance that the bedding had been changed due to a defect with some of the in-room amenities, and the replacements were absolutely not suitable for sleeping. In addition, the bedding covers were visibly dirty and had stains, which made us question whether they had been properly cleaned at all. The air conditioning smells strongly of urine when turned on, and the washing machine doesn’t dry clothes properly — they stay soaking wet. In our opinion, this apartment is more suitable for one person, not three. The listing felt misleading and the stay was not comfortable or worth the price.

• Woolley (1/5): The worst stay we had in Japan by far. - At least It was clean We booked a room for 4 people and received a room for 2 with a floor mat for one person and nothing but a blanket for the other. Despite asking for more bedding we received none. We were told that the rooms were randomly assigned after payment which means that 4 people could be stuck in a 2 person room. The customer service was terrible. They just ran me around in circles asking to check the closet for bedding that was not there, despite sending videos of the apartments contents upon their request.

• Chloe (5/5): Good location. Not clean. - Good location and cheap Obviously small, wasn’t the problem. It was quite a dirty. We had to wash the bed sheets when we arrived. There was hair and dirt on these sheets, then period blood and pee stains on the mattress protector. There was a weird smell the whole time as well. Rubbish still from the last stay under the bed. The bathroom mirror still had toothpaste spit on it and the shower screen looked as though it had never been cleaned. Need to invest in a microfibre cloth and a squeegee. The cups and cutlery were not clean. This made the stay very uncomfortable.
• Robert (7/5): The accomodation was good, it is quite small but had everything necessary for a one person stay. - Location was good, close to station and easy to access. Nice and clean, shower very good. Washing machine was useful - The kitchen sink tap was loose and so it was hard to use. - The towel had holes in it and was very old. - The batteries were flat in the A/C controller and TV controller. - Instructions in English for the washing machine/ AC / TV (to change to English on YouTube) would have been very useful.

• Luke (6/5): If you have light luggage and traveling on a budget, it’s a good find - Very clean, the facilities work properly, near to a metro station, very cute and quiet neighborhood, good value for money. No wifi, no elevator (5 floors with a skinny staircase makes difficult for luggage), was a bit small, bed was two futons on top of each other.
• Hung (6/5): Good neighbourhood but the stay did not meet expectations - The place is small but has most amenities, doable for solo travellers. Furniture things are modern and stylish. The Waseda neighbourhood is antique, quiet and beautiful. There is a museum with a nice cafe nearby, and many good ramen shops around. For the price I paid, I think it is not good value for money. The main negative I have with this place is that I didn't really feel a sense of お持て成し (omotenashi, Japanese wholehearted hospitality), which I have come to really love about other places I've stayed at during my two-week Japan trip. This place came with a washing machine (but did not supply washing detergent). As for the kitchenette, there was only one set of everything (fork, spoon, chopsticks, bowl, plate, cup). I've never stayed in a place that feels somewhat stingy like this place. Additionally, this place did not allow early check-in or luggage storage . The host recommended using a coin locker at the subway so I followed this advice, but I found this process difficult because I am a foreigner and a traveller (don't know the area well). I couldn't see if there are any lockers that could fit my luggage at Waseda station and Ushigome-yanagicho station, I had to use the ones in Iidabashi station (two stations away) so that was difficult. I would have loved more guidance on how to access the coin lockers this owner recommended. Or, another place I stayed (no early check-in no-luggage store), they let me put luggage in the hall way inside the apartment before check-in time. I feel that this option could work here too but the owner is not very considerate of the guest's needs here and chose to the option with the least amount of responsibility on their part. This place has no lift, I was put on Level 5 and had to do my own rubbish and yes, manually bring luggage up five flight of stairs. There are cleaning kits outside each apartment which was unsightly, almost like a reminder that we will clean your room (unwelcoming feeling). There were too many arbitrary rules (like you can't take the keys out of the box, which made life inconvenient).

• Jimmy (3/5): Looks better than it was - The location was great, between two highly used metro lines that could get you anywhere quickly. It’s well furnished. The bed situation really didn’t match the photos, being sleeping pads laid on the ground. We were in a basement unit, which also would’ve been nice to have had disclosed beforehand. They made a big deal about making sure the dehumidifier was always running, but it smelled so bad. We were constantly checking the place for mold, because the smell was making us physically sick. We were actively trying to find other places to stay because of how bad the smell was.
• Christina (4/5): Disappointing - Overall our stay way OK. Getting the keys from the mailbox/lockbox was easy and we were in the semi-basement unit, so stairs weren't a big issue. We were a group of 3, however we only received enough towels and bedding for 2 people. We did NOT receive proper bedding for the 3rd guest until our last night (total 3 nights without proper bedding). I had to sleep on the extra bed using my own clothing as sheets/blankets. It was very disappointing and uncomfortable, considering we paid for 3 people. Also, there was a bad smell and lots of moisture in our unit, and the shower setup was awkward (glass wall facing kitchen). Be warned that you will need to buy your own toilet paper once you run out (they gave us two rolls for 3 people staying 4 nights).
• Celina (5/5): Small apartment in residential neighbourhood, unit may vary from images - Quiet neighbourhood although occasionally heard other guests coming and going into units. Unit had kitchen setup with microwave, fridge, and stove top. Layout of room was not as pictured on booking site. In pictures posted bed was present. Came to small room with stack of unmade futon beds with flight of stairs leading to basement bathroom/kitchen/living space. Setup two futons “upstairs” which took up entire floor space, with third futon setup in kitchen/bathroom/living space (see photo). Nice residential area, but wouldn’t recommend for short stay traveller hoping to do a lot of sight seeing, as we often ended up taking taxis due to transit times.

• Nicolette (9/5): great place/location for the price! - A little hard to retrieve the key. 5-10 min walk away from station and convenient store. 2 min walk from the museum. the instructions to retrieve the key was not very clear. Took a few minutes to realize that the code was 3 digits, but in the instructions they only gave 2 digits.
• Nutthasuda (10/5): Exceptional - Most of the hotels in Tokyo are quite small, we were really lucky to find this accommodation at this price point and location. It is located 7 minutes away from the nearest train station that takes you to the popular shopping areas and attractions. The apartment was spacious, practical and modern. There was nothing we didn't like about our stay. However, the wrong code was given to us during check in process which made it difficult for us to access the keybox. Luckily, someone who lives in the building was able to call the owner for us and give us the right code.
• Ugur (9/5): Superb - Very spacious for Tokyo standards. Has everything needed within the room. Location is not the best, but easily accessible by subway.
• Jazmin (10/5): Exceptional - In a nice and quiet area, and close to a train station. It was very small, not much space to put any luggage.

It’s a perfect place to rest and relax after a long day of activities. Check in/check out process was pretty difficult to navigate. Finding the location could be more simplified.
