Guest Reviews
- Lisa Huong (7/5): -
- Pamela (10/5): It was a great and peaceful stay after a long days drive - Great location and the staff was very helpful N/A
- Miller (7/5): - With not many options within 12 hours drive in either direction, it has everything one could ask for--- gas, bed, restaurant, convenience/souvenir store. Bed was too small for 2 people and very noisy with the slightest movement. Pillows were flat as pancakes.
- Matthew (7/5): -
- Mike (5/5): Room was warm - Easy to get to They said deluxe room. It wasn’t. Lots of ice to get in room. No coffee maker. No glasses no hair dryer. Dirty clothes in drawer
- WyattTraveler (9/5): If you are in Destruction bay... - Great staff Wifi was marginal.
- Martin (10/5): -
- Mary (9/5): - The view was great. Service areas were really clean. This is a remote location, not a luxury motel but very clean.
- Theresa (10/5): -
- Donna (8/5): -
- Daniel (8/5): -
- Handy (10/5): -
- Darrell (7/5): It was a great stop for the location - It was warm, clean, and comfortable. The motel at a restaurant, Store, fuel station, and we were quite accommodating at meeting our needs. The beds need to be updated. Those mattresses are fine for one night, but I wouldn’t wanna spend much longer on them.
- James (8/5): After a long day driving - it was a welcome place to rest and fuel body and car - Location and staff - Food was good, but given the remoteness it is somewhat understandable.
- John (4/5): New owners, inexperienced staff( cooks). First appearance looks like no money put into wear and tear - Location Lodge was originally part of my family
- Jenaya (6/5): - I've stayed here in 2012, 2023 and most recently last week (October 2025). Between 2012 and 2023, the price only changed $5 to $10. However, between 2023 and 2025, it has gone up $50 per night, a steep increase.
While some cosmetic changes have been made to make it look more modern, the actual changes needed to command a $50 increase have not happened. The ceiling paint was peeling in the bathroom, and the toilet is leaking beneath the floor, causing disgusting colouration and looking in need of desperate repair.
However, the staff were very friendly and the food is great. Definitely recommend the mozza sticks as an appetizer.
- Kensuke (6/5): - Not clean room. The stuff not nice when I checked out
- Denise (8/5): - Dated, but in good repair. Clean and the mattress and pillows were in good condition. Restaurant is our 7-9, we came in at 8.45 and were still able to get some items that didn't need the grill. On the ground floor, the room above was about around midnight. The noise wouldn't have been so annoying earlier. Left the next morning around 7 so i can't answer for breakfast. Pretty decent considering it's the main fair in a community of 55 people.
- Aaron (8/5): -
- Steven (7/5): -
- Lana (8/5): - No carpet was nice. Very clean, hot water, convenience of microwave and fridge in the room, even cable tv. Pleasant surprise of accommodations in Destruction Bay s desolate area. Would stay there again.
- Gregory (8/5): - The staff was courteous and kind. Breakfast took a long time. We ordered at 7:20 a.m. and did not receive our food until 8:00. A.m.. probably best to not expect a quick meal at the same time as everyone else at 7:00. A.m..
- Heather (8/5): - Safe quiet room to rest, late check in was easy. Woke to beautiful views the next day.
- Barbara (8/5): This is in a convenient location and serves its clientele in a positive way. - Ease of ‘checking in’. We were late b/c car trouble. No coffee in the room.
- Pavel (8/5): -
- William (10/5): - a
- Carol (3/5): - For the distance we were driving it was the really only available lodging Very, very dated, lots of rust in sink and tub. Ripped lampshades, bedspread looked very old.
Very expensive for what we got i felt
- Gerard (10/5): - Great location, great staff, rooms were clean. Thank you!
- William (10/5): - Friendly staff, easy check in process, great price, and clean room!
- MARCOS TABAJARA (8/5): -
- Robert (10/5): -
- Ruth (9/5): -
- Guillaume (10/5): - Great place and convenient.Old and rustic but clean.
- Kelly Iphone (8/5): - Simple but very clean with accommodating staff.
- Amber (10/5): Good roadside motel for rest, food and fuel. - The location was great. This motel has all your basic necessities... clean, secure, comfortable place to stay, as well as both gas and restaurant on location which is very convenient. The price was reasonable and the family that owns it are very sweet and hospitable. The food was good and they're pet friendly. Nothing
- Nattaya (8/5): - Nice motel for a quick overnight stay from a long drive. We got in really late in the morning and had to call the staff for room check in. Overall good stay for a quick sleep. Room is clean.
- Glenda (7/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very cozy and welcome place after a long drive.
- Abigail (10/5): Perfect place to eat and sleep and get laundry done. - I liked the views and location. It was comfortable and clean. Nothing
- James C (8/5): - Older hotel but clean and staff was great . Food at restaurant was great
- Carl (10/5): - It was a great option after driving all day:)
- Julie (2/5): - Talbot Arms is a run down motel. Our room had dirty walls and a broken window. Light switch plates were dirty and lamp shades were dusty. The head of the bed had a layer of dust. I can not recommend this motel to others.
- Brigitte (9/5): -
- Gerardo (8/5): - Habitación amplia y cómoda
- Marianne (10/5): - It's really the only place in this area. Staff was great and it was a good place to lay our head for the night.
- Don (6/5): - Old run down beds terrible
- Cindy (10/5): - Great location and great staff. Very accommodating.
- Tumbleweed (5/5): Return trip - The room was decent and had a bay view. The shower wasn't great like the room where we first stayed the week before. Also, we had to be moved to another room because there was no microwave or refrigerator in the one we were given. It wasn't far to move, but we had already unloaded everything.
- Robert (6/5): Pleasant - Needs some updates
- Tumbleweed (8/5): Very good - THE SHOWER! OH MY GOODNESS! IT WAS LIKE STANDING UNDER A RUSHING WATERFALL COMING FROM HOT SPRINGS!! LOVED IT!! SLEPT AMAZINGLY! OH, THE LITTLE GROUND HOGS OR PRAIRIE DOGS, NOT SURE WHAT THEY WERE...BUT THEY WERE SO FUNNY!!! The laundry was nice, but the dryers didn't dry our clothes, so a nice housekeeping lady said, "Go to the desk, tell them and get replacement coins and change dryers." We did, but the lady at the desk was rude. The other dryers worked well.
- Carol (4/5): Disappointing -
- Lynn (4/5): Outdated and unsatisfactory - No amenities whatsoever no microwave no coffee maker no refrigerator. Minimal bed covers lump bed, old pillows. Very unsatisfactory.
- Sarah (6/5): Destruction Bay - OK. First. Set realistic expectations for the middle of nowhere with a year round population of under 100. That said....
The good: This place was adequate for one night. We were in Room 1 (end room) with two beds, a table with two chairs, TV, mini fridge, sizeable dresser and plenty of room to spread out. We were able to park right next to our room to unload/load. Very convenient.
The eyebrow raising observations: The shower was old and has rust stains which made cleanliness nearly impossible to see. So much so that we decided to skip a shower. (I have no doubt it was clean, just looked questionable.) One bed looked much newer than the other which had significant staining on the box spring. The window had a crack but didn't bother us.
The restaurant has decent food and service is friendly. Note: We were told it's illegal to serve a hamburger anything other than well done. A well done burger can be tough. A well done Bison burger is tough. Lesson learned. Breakfast was really good.
Overall dont skip this place if you're looking for a place to rest and refuel. It gets the job done.
- Bob (8/5): - The staff was very nice and accommodating. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and considering it was the only motel within about 100 miles, the rate was quite reasonable. I would recommend it and would stay here again if I was in the area.
- Mrinal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Philip (10/5): - Always our first night when driving out of Alaska. It isn't fancy, but it's always clean and comfortable. A little convenience store is next to the cafe and check-in for the motel.
- Paula (8/5): Great one night stay - Convenient room with restaurant and lounge. Clean with comfy beds. It feels older in both style and decor.
- Dawn (7/5): Basic accommodation for overnight stay with good restaurant. - Good restaurant Noisy
- Pablo (8/5): - The staff were very accommodating.
- Hilary (8/5): - Friendly helpful staff who made you feel welcome. Good food too, so a good place for a stopover on the Alaskan Highway.
- Lauri (8/5): - Good place to rest, a bit run down, but it is clean. Food in restaurant is good.
- Julian (8/5): Very good -
- Julie (8/5): - Perfect stop for dinner and sleep. Nothing fancy but it was clean and comfortable. Great shower pressure. Check in is inside the little convenience store by the fuel pumps. Well priced for the tired traveler.
- Julian (8/5): Very good -
- Ellen (8/5): Went to - The shower is the best on our trip so far Nothing
- Stephen (8/5): Nice place to stay! - Nice place. Very friendly staff. Would easily stay there again!
- Robert (6/5): - Obviously
- Don (8/5): - All was very good, and as expected. However, next morning hot water was cold - no showering. A bit disappointing, but they had a service-person there tryong to sortout the hot water malfunction
- Cyndy (6/5): Windy, windy and more winds -
- JoAnn (8/5): - The Talbot Inn is a good middle point between Haines and the interior of Alaska. It is clean and has a nice staff and we enjoy the restaurant there.
- Janice (9/5): A welcome respite in a sparsely developed area on the Alaska Highway - No breakfast included in room rate. Large clean room, comfortable beds, we stayed twice on road trip up and back to Alaska. This is a combo hotel, restaurant, convenience store, and gas station. Rooms on front have a nice water view.
Destruction Bay is remote. We didn't encounter other lodging anywhere close. Glad this business was there, or we would have slept in our truck. Wifi stopped working after a certain time limit, maybe an hour or so. Had to wait until morning to get access again.
- Anna (8/5): - Gorgeous views!
- Thomas (6/5): - there was only one light in the room and odd positioning of the furniture. the tv was above the couch, so you would have to sit at the small table to watch the tv.
- James (8/5): - The food was good. The staff was friendly and helpful
- Donald (10/5): - The staff at the Talbot Arms are very friendly and accommodating. This is not a fancy establishment, but it is clean and well maintained. The location is very handy along the Alaska Highway. The restaurant has a nice variety and the food is tasty.
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Clean, friendly, has restaurant with good basic food..burgers, etc. Staff was friendly and efficient. Beautiful setting. Very basic but very easy and relaxing atmosphere and beautiful setting.
- Diane (10/5): - I’ve traveled rural places all my life so I know amenities and cleanliness can be challenging in these places due to high cost of living. This place, though, was great. Very friendly. Very clean room. Nice restaurant. Very happy we picked this as our stop en route to Fairbanks even though it was a relatively short distance from Haines.
- Janet (10/5): - Great place to stop for the night, as well as a restaurant for dinner and breakfast.
- Randy (10/5): - Great roadside hotel. Rooms could be a little cooler.
- Lessa (10/5): - The room was clean. It was convenient to have a restaurant and gas station on the same property. We had to wait a bit for the restaurant and gas station convenience store to open at 7am so we could grab coffee and breakfast snacks before leaving. I would definitely recommend to anyone passing through.
- Robert (10/5): Relaxing place to stay - Great place to stay after a long drive from Chicken. Excellent restaurant facility. Great helpful staff.
- Lawrence (6/5): Pleasant -
- Maria (4/5): - Clean space with the no free shampoo and coffee. Only good for 2 bath towel and wash cloth. Only free are 2 soaps.
- Aase (4/5): - Staff were very helpful.
- William (8/5): - It was a convenient place to stay for the night.
- Kirklin (10/5): - Talbot Arm Motel is a WELCOME sight/site, especially after a long day's travel. The staff are ALWAYS friendly and welcoming (I've stayed there several times). The property is dated, but well cared for. Because of it's remote location, it's understandable with things are not a equipped at facilities in larger cities. Considering the location, they Hotel does really well at helping customers feel welcome, safe, and cared about.
- Kurt (10/5): - Quiet and comfortable
- Justina (8/5): Very good -
- Ilona (1/5): Bad -
- Heidi (10/5): - Every thing was very convenient. The employees were great!!
- Matthew (7/5): Good -
- Terry (8/5): Very good - Room was large, clean, and comfortable although a little old.
Beds were comfortable.
Good location surrounded by the mountains & lake
Restaurant, bar, gift shop & gas station on site. Door let in draught
Room could use a microwave, fridge and coffee making facilities.
- Sheri (10/5): - Great place for price, accommodating when arriving late. Always there when I need a sleep on the way through.
- Jame (6/5): Pleasant -
- Kim (10/5): - i liked my view and that cover overhead when sitting outside.
They had a restaurant and lounge that I didn't use.
But there was no kettle or coffee maker and no microwave.
- Richard (6/5): It is what it is - Okay for what it is. A place in the middle of nowhere to crash for the night. Staff was friendly and had great service. Room was pretty rough. Not the cleanest. Walls are thin so you'll hear neighbors. Food was average but it was hot and quick. I'd stay here again for a one night thing if need be.
- Curtis (2/5): - Check in at 4, she (claimed to be the manager) didn’t show up until 5:15 and denied she was late. Nobody here at night apparently because one party was extremely loud past 2AM.
It’s a good location but the experience with the manager and the noisy environment ruined our stay.
Will not return
- Kent (7/5): Good -
- Jennifer (8/5): Family trip with dogs - Comfy beds, hot shower and good meal at the restaurant Only 2 towels in the bathroom for 3 guests and pillows were very thin
- Deborah (10/5): - Very nice room. Restaurant nearby. Comfortable. Easy area to walk my dog.
