Guest Reviews
- Lewis (1/5): Strongly advise against visiting. - Horrible experience from start to finish. The place is overpriced, poorly maintained, and run in a way that feels both careless and shady. Considering the amount we paid and the fact they use a private driver, you still need to pay an extortionate taxi fee where bags get launched into an open back pickup truck and get thrown around the whole journey, then you’re taken to a tiny dock where a boat waits for you. This boat was not there for us and we waited 20 minutes in an area completely unknown to us which made us feel seriously uneasy. The room was dirty—bugs everywhere, stained sheets—and when we raised it, they changed it into more dirty sheets which we decided to just accept, for which there was no apology. The food is massively overpriced for what it is: a limited, low quality menu where most options are just pizza or pasta, all charged at ridiculous prices (and that’s coming from people used to London prices). You’re essentially forced to pay because there are no alternatives. The setup itself is unacceptable. The so-called air conditioning is useless because the windows are just shutters that don’t properly close, meaning insects, birds, and even cockroaches and lizards can get into your room freely—which they did.Worse, staff disappear completely overnight (from around 8pm to 7am) and are unreachable—their phone is switched off. On a remote, man-made island that’s only accessible by the property’s private boat, that’s not just inconvenient, it’s unsafe. We ended up leaving a day early. My girlfriend became ill overnight, and with no way to contact staff or leave the island, the situation felt genuinely risky. Beyond that, the whole place just has an uncomfortable, off vibe. Despite all this, they still added a service charge for our stay. This was the only negative experience in nearly three weeks in Colombia, and it was bad enough that we would strongly advise others to avoid it.

- Maria (8/5): Great hotel with some room for improvements. - It was a beautiful location, great rooms, very comfortable and strategically designed. Towels availability was an issue. They only have us bath towels and getting beach towels was very complicated. Also, they promote free use of kayaks and paddle boards but they were in very poor shape. Lastly, food takes very long time. We once waited 1 hour for breakfast.

- Dario (8/5): Unique island escape in nature, but poor organization and communication - This property offers a very unique experience completely immersed in nature. The arrival by boat already makes the stay feel special, as the hotel is located on a small isolated peninsula with only a few rooms and very limited facilities, which adds to the charm of the place. The beach area is beautiful and includes a pier and a small spa hut. Guests can also use kayaks for free to explore the surrounding waters. In the center of the island there is a pagoda that works as the main meeting point, restaurant and bar. The rooms are spacious and very nice, and the overall atmosphere is peaceful and disconnected from the outside world. There were several issues related to organization and communication. The check-in process was slow and not well managed, and we were initially assigned a room that was already occupied. Communication with the staff was often unclear. We also arranged a transfer in advance specifying the number of people and requesting a large vehicle, but a small car arrived instead, which made the transfer difficult. Another downside is that guests are very dependent on the staff, who are not available after around 8 pm. After that time it is not possible to request food, water or assistance if needed. During our stay there was also strong wind at night, which made the rooms quite noisy and affected the overall comfort. In addition, local vendors occasionally arrive by boat offering services and asking for tips, which can be a bit intrusive.
- Grace (5/5): Sadly not quite what we expected... - The food was nice and it was in a good location for getting to the Rosario islands. Our transfers to the property were very easy to arrange and relatively inexpensive. They also arrange a complimentary boat from Baru which takes you through mangroves to the hotel. This was really beautiful! The views from the hotel were also stunning. They also moved us to another room on our final night due to issues and this improved our stay massively overall. Unfortunately we had an infestation of wood bees in our first room. Normally we wouldn't bother with insects but there were three large buzzing bees burrowing into the wood and leaving shavings all over the room. They would also eject a brown liquid which went all over our bedding and clothes and this would happen all day long from 6am. We had to wash our clothes continuously to get the stains out. We raised the issue 3 times before we were moved to another room on the last night (3 night stay).
When we arrived at the hotel our room still had wine and half eaten packets of nuts from the previous guests on the sideboard. Our room was also not cleaned throughout the stay and we had to chase for new towels and toilet roll. We also had to pay for drinking water which was quite surprising.
Staff were quite nice overall but I think they were frustrated with our limited Spanish and we had to argue some points on the bill at the end.
Finally, my husband asked on arrival if they offered any amenities and activities etc. at the hotel but we were told that there was nothing onsite and everything had to be booked via an external tour operator they use. The tour operator was helpful enough but the tours were really expensive and not worth the money. We then saw on our last day that the hotel did offer complimentary paddleboards and snorkeling, but as they didn't inform us on the first day we ended up paying a lot to go off-site which was frustrating.
We have been in Colombia for 2 weeks and stayed in a mix of hostels and hotels with no issues but sadly this hotel was the most expensive by far and didn't really live up to what we expected. We really appreciate being moved to another room on the final night - this was so much better - but we should not have been given the initial room in the first place.
- John (10/5): A lovely place to unwind - Great location, staff and food No real way of getting water apart from paying high price. Do feel fresh water should be available to guests staying overnight.
- Timothy (8/5): -
- CamilaGonzalezM.

- Amani (10/5): - Perfect location in Isla Baru. Staff are super friendly and the food is really good
- Izzy (8/5): - Lovely staff and beautiful setting
- Johannes (8/5): - We really enjoyed our stay overall. The hotel offers a beautiful, private, and relaxing atmosphere. The room was very modern and well designed, and the staff was generally friendly, although limited English skills sometimes made communication frustrating.
There is no real beach at the hotel, but they made a good effort to create a beach-like area. Access to the water is only via a ladder, which is something to be aware of. The food was okay, but a bit overpriced for the quality. What seriously disappointed us was the parking situation. We arrived by car and were given the contact of a man at the harbor to park our car, which made us assume this was organized or at least endorsed by the hotel. When we later asked the reception about the price, they had no information at all. The parking guy then tried to massively overcharge us, and we had to haggle just to reduce the price — which was still far too high (around $10 per day) for a dirty beach-shack parking spot.
For a hotel in this price range, this lack of professionalism and indirect support of obvious overcharging is unacceptable. With better organization and transparency, this could be a truly excellent place.
- Tamsyn (8/5): I enjoyed my time here due to the staff, there are some improvements that could be made - The service from the staff was great. The free welcome drink, free kayak use, decent pizza and pasta (with free delivery to my room!) and amazing coconut lemonade, as well as the comfortable day beds on the beach were all appreciated, as was turning the music down in the bar when I could hear it from my room. We didn’t have water for part of one day and without being asked Grace offered a free cocktail or starter in recompense. The room I booked was next to a noisy kitchen, but Grace made it feel like no problem at all to move me. The taxi picking me up was 40 minutes late, but then they knocked 20000 COP off the price which was a good recompense. It is however usually 170000 one way from Cartagena, which as I paid £140 for one night at the hotel felt like more money than I wanted to spend. I left a review on Google with more little niggles like dirty toilet brush, no bath mats, etc.
- Antonia (2/5): Would NOT GO! - The Design of the room is Nice We were extremely disappointed with our stay. We were misled by the positive reviews on Booking (which made us wonder whether some of them are genuine). We were hesitant at first, but decided to book the hotel anyway.
The bed was dirty, the food was inedible, and the prices were extremely high for the poor quality, especially when compared to far better restaurants and hotels elsewhere in Colombia. We wanted to leave immediately. The staff was not very helpful at first, and only after about six hours of discussion and waiting were we finally allowed to leave.
The beach itself is very strange and feels unsafe. You are constantly worried about being hit by one of the jet skis passing by to sell things, often driven in an inexperienced and reckless manner. The beach loungers and the exterior area are designed without any care and feel very neglected.
Coupure d'eau pendant plusieurs heures.
A precios bastante elevados.

- Antonia (3/5): Never again - The rooms look nice but unclean We were extremely disappointed with our stay. We were misled by the positive reviews on Booking (which made us wonder whether some of them are genuine). We were hesitant at first, but decided to book the hotel anyway.

- Lars Tue (10/5): 2 days in a small paradise 🏝️😊 - Beautiful place, both the nature and the property itself is amazing. The rooms are very big with terraces and sleeping room towards the water and (sleeping) sofa towards the restaurant and reception. The furniture and decoration is classy, but there are no window (just shutters) so wind and sounds are not kept out - all adds to the genuine island experience 🏝️😊
Kayaks are free and in 20 minutes you are in the mangroves. Jetski, boat, etc can be rented if needed. We did a nice private tour to Rosario Island for 750.000 incl snorkeling. Water around hotel is fine for swimming, but snorkeling is not any good.
Food is good (not great) but comes with waiting times and in general everything is happening a bit in island speed.
Getting there is not easy; either 1h boatride from Cartagena or 1,5h taxi ride (350.000 COP for 5people) to nearby pier where hotel boat will pickup.
We will be back! Staff (with exception of Alberto) should work a little on speeding up and being more responsive. But all extremely friendly.
- Matthijs (9/5): Great resort to relax a few days and enjoy some good food - Great rooms, quiet and small resort, great food and very nice and friendly staff Sometimes not all the options of the menu are available
- Federico (9/5): -
- Cinzia (10/5): More than a vacation, a beautiful dream - This place is what I was longing for: quiet, isolated, immersed in an amazing natural environment. I slept like a baby with the sound of the waves surrounding me. My apartment was spacious and furnished with taste. It was easy to feel comfortable there. I could go into the see directly from my balcony, which was a treat. Although far away from the city, I was impressed to see how stable the wifi was. Running water and electricity never failed. The staff was kind and respectful, well mannered. They made me feel welcomed and took good care of me. The food was delicious. There are opportunities for acquatic sports and excursions. It's a privilege to be here. There's nothing I didn't like. I loved this place. I guess that some might not want to feel isolated. However, in case, it's possible to reach the nearest places and islands by boat to join the movida. This is also not a place for shopping or for active social life. For those with special needs, being this resort far from the city, consider whether you would have everything you need when you need it..
- Uitstekende ligging.

- Gerald (10/5): kleines Paradies - ausgezeichnetes Frühstück mit regionalem Schwerpunkt, sehr zuvorkommendes Personal, schöne intime Anlage,

A comida súper buena.
- Santiago (10/5): Sin dudas volvería - Muy limpio, ordenado gran amabilidad del personal. Nada no me gustó.
- Tom (10/5): -
- carolina (10/5): Todo espectaculares - Todo Todo súper bien!

- Alvaro Candau (8/5): Buen hotel
- Jorge Alejandro (10/5): - It is a great place to relax and enjoy crystal clear beach AC could be better.
- Phil (7/5): A lovely place with nice staff in a great part of the world but a bit pricey for what it is. - Great location. Amazing views. Great help from staff arranging transport to and from the resort. As we knew, only 1 restaurant was at this tiny location. Food was OK. Nothing amazing.
The swimming pool is a sea water pool that may not be everyone’s perfect situation. Not as relaxing as a regular swimming pool
We would have thought about staying longer if the food was better and if there was a regular pool.
- Adria (9/5): -
- Jenny (10/5): Amazing - Everything, so peaceful the staff was incredible amazing and kind, the place is unbelievable. Not enough time.
- Maurice (10/5): Great for winding down and relax a couple of days - Beautifully location as well as rooms and amenities. Absolutely great staff.
