Guest Reviews
- Gregory (9/5): -
- Kamila (6/5): Was great, until almost half of what I owned is garbage now with bleach stains. - The people who worked there, good size kitchen and space to hang out upstairs The fact that I used their laundry service and half my clothes were returned stained with bleached. The cleaning lady had the audacity to say straight to my face she found my clothes like that, and they don’t use bleach. Even though there is tons of bleach bottles in the laundry room, and although they might only use them for their sheets . There was clear negligence in the process . The manager was kind enough to comp. my excursion the day prior however it did not cover the cost to replace my items.
- Luke (6/5): Good but uncomfortable beds - Good kitchen space.
Nice, helpful staff and good location.
Air conditioning in big dorm. The bunk beds were not great, uncomfortable and very wobbly, if someone is moving on the bed it shakes the other bed a lot. The curtains did not fully cover the beds.
- Peter (1/5): Vermijden!
- Jorge David (8/5): Buen lugar - El hospedaje muy bueno. Cerca a muchos restaurantes y comercios. Buen lugar. El aire acondicionado me parecio algo fuerte.
- Melissa (8/5): - Ac rooms were a must since i went down in a heat wave. Ac was nice and cold. Would have like to see seperate men and womans dorm room and also have a co-ed for more options

- Joshua (7/5): Cozy hostel with a good vibe and great value for money. Perfect for short stays while you visit - The staff was very supportive with check-in and general guidance. They had a great social calendar which was helpful on the night I didn't have anything planned for myself.
I liked that it was good value for money and well-situated in San Ignacio. My private room could've been cleaner.
- Amber (7/5): - - Personeel was heel vriendelijk
- goede locatie
- Connor (10/5): Amazing family run hostel - 10/10 would recommend! - This place is great. A family run business with everything that makes up a good hostel. The staff are all super friendly and helpful, they also do free trips out to places like Monkey Falls etc to get people bonding and keep them entertained. The rooms are great with multiple levels and beds spread out so you never feel too cramped. The place was kept clean and the shower was decent (although only cold water). Kitchen was spot on and the hang out areas are epic. There is a bar with a great atmosphere and music, there are hammocks hanging everywhere so you can chill out and watch the day go by and best of all, they have pet cats and dogs who wander the property regularly! 10/10 for my stay here.
Would absolutely recommend this place. Nothing really to complain about, potentially would be nice to have some hotter shower water for the days when its cooler and rainy (which was regular when I was in San Ig) but other than that this place was top notch.
- Elizabeth (5/5): - Location 12 beds and just one bedroom inside the rooms, you can hear and smell when people use it . The second bathroom was in the 3th floor
- Vivian (9/5): -
- Ralph (8/5): - Good location, affordable private room. Staff were friendly and helpful. No drinking water in the room, bar was smokey in the seating area.
- l’emplacement
- la propreté
- la cuisine
- douche chaude
- lits du dortoir confortables
- auberge calme
- le bar au 2ème étage

- Cora (10/5): Could have stayed longer. - Welcoming environment with many activities to do. Staff were very helpful. Very close to everything I needed.
- Atanas Atanasov (9/5): - Excellent location, good vibe, good view, good kitchen place, good view, good staff. In the room for 10 people there is only one bathroom (plus one another outside of the room, two floors up), but it's ok...
Get ready one of these days to not have electricity, but that's not a big problem, because the kitchen is on the gas, just need you to have an extra battery for your phone.
The locker was smaller - only for one small backpack. Hi

- Yves (10/5): No problems recommending Bella's - As an ex-backpacker now traveling with a 10yo, I was a bit nervous and not sure what to expect. I can very safely say that I have no legitimate complaints. We had a private room with AC which was more than enough and very reasonable for the money. Staff was everything you could ask for...and the daily fry-jacks and orange juice were a fantastic bonus.
Honestly, no complaints at all. To go a step further, I'm now at an AirBNB just up the street because the rest of the family joined...and the first thing we did was to head back to Bella's to close out the night. No complaints...but because you're asking - the music could be a bit (a lot) better. Same genre, pretty much non-stop. But having said that, I'm an old guy complaining about today's music...which as we know is pretty bad :)

Nada a referir.
- Schulz (8/5): - Great experience and good location. A unique building and ambiance
- Kostiantyn Okhrimenko (10/5): -
- Kleber Lucas (10/5): -
- Petra (10/5): great vibe, loved it - i love the huge tree is growing inside the hostel with 1000s of birds singing morning and evening, the architecture of the hostel is awesome, different levels, open kitchen, lovely people, great vibe. And the dorms cool and quiet and used for sleeping. There was so much space in the hostel to socialize and hang out ... not need to do it in the bed rooms. I liked the curtains around the beds. all good, loved the place and vide

- graus (10/5): - Comfortable room. Well stocked kitchen. Helpful staff Nothing
- Ilona (8/5): -
- Jesse (10/5): Good - Great location It was all good
- Linsey (4/5): Disappointing - It was located in the main area of San Ignacio The bed was very unstable, so every time someone moved, the whole bed would shake. The mattress was covered with a plastic sheet and a regular sheet on top, but because of the plastic layer, the sheets kept slipping out of place, which made it quite uncomfortable.
The male staff members were always friendly, but I found the female staff less welcoming. They didn’t greet us most of the time and didn’t seem very helpful when we asked questions. They also kept saying that cash was preferred, even though there is a card payment terminal available.
Before check-out time, staff would enter the room loudly to clean the bathroom and slammed the doors, which was quite disturbing. The bathroom door itself made a lot of noise, so you could hear it every time someone used it. The bathroom lights also couldn’t be turned off, so there was always some light shining into the room at night.
There was also no real atmosphere in the hostel, but that might have been because it wasn’t very busy during our stay.
- Malgorzata (8/5): -
- Frans (8/5): Nice hostel very well located in center of town - Good value
Great location
Neat space and design
Helpful staff Wifi weak in dorm
Can be noisy due to bar, movie nights, etc. Very much a social hostel, which isn’t my preference
- Jimmy (7/5): Très bien pour un Backpackers - Personnel sympa Ventilateur
- Nami (7/5): Good for 2 nights - The hostel was nice and the staff was helpful. Fun activities and a clean kitchen were bonusses as well. Noisy environment because the spaces are very open and you just hear everything. There is also not much to do so I would not recommend staying more than 2 nights.
- Juliet (9/5): Nice hostel, great for a couple of days - Great social spaces, nice view from bar, very friendly and helpful staff, short walk to town centre, decent bathrooms. Kitchen is a bit small for the number of beds, and we were allocated beds far away from where the AC was despite it being a mostly empty room.
- Melina (10/5): -
In camera ventilatore acceso h 24, troppo rumore.
- Ian (8/5): - Helpful staff, Room ok for price and better value for money than alternatives, near centre Bedding wasn't great
- Lindsey (7/5): - - location is good
- staff are nice
- party is fun - bathrooms aren’t usually clean
- no curtains on bunk beds
- Tsung Chia (10/5): -
- Ram (10/5): Staff 10/10 - The Staff were a different league - They were SUPERB
Samantha (cousins) Lucinda, Owner Natasha Dimitri, Bella and amber ...plus others
Vive was great Needs a little updating BUT SUPER Hostel

- Tanja (9/5): - Everything was perfect! Nice staff and cozy place.
- DeAndre (10/5): The stay felt like home away from home. I would definitely recommend. -
- Xinyue (7/5): - Price is affordable The private room is inside of a shared room of 8 people, and the birds are very loud in the early morning, we didn’t sleep well.
- Elli (8/5): A nice welcoming hostel - The staff is great ! You feel very welcome from the very first moment!
They helped me out with the arrangement of my tours and they also did my laundry (for just 15bzd).
The location is just great. Very close to the main commercial street of San Ignacio.
The atmosphere was chill and I think everyone in the hostel could feel that.
They have a few cats that they take care of and they go around the hostel. They are adorable.
I also liked very much their kitchen. It is well equipped, it even has an orange juice squeezer (they offered oranges for free! How kind if them!), it is very spacious and it is outdoors, meaning that you can have the views and the clean air from outside as you cook and clean your dishes. The temperature is just perfect outside so for me cooking and cleaning felt less of a chore being in an environment like that!
In my dorm, each bed is surrounded by curtains, a very important detail that provides some valuable privacy.
Plug socket next to your bed is another element that makes your experience a bit more comfortable. My dorm has room for 10 people and just one bathroom. This was a bit stressful for the times that everyone had to get ready for a tour or for a check out approximately at the same time.
There is another bathroom available at the common area of the hostel, but I don't think that this is enough either. This one is for the usage of all the guests of the hostel.
The bathroom is lovely and cleaned regularly, but the water of the shower was cold every single time. Despite the nice temperature of Belize, personally I couldn’t stand the temperature of the water in the shower.
Last but not least, the internet was not stable and it was slow.
I don't know if these issues can be fixed, but I believe that this is a good hostel and the people working there are in good spirits.
- Ieva (6/5): There are so many way better value places around... - Location. The guy staff member was very stiff with information about how to get to flores by public transport just suggested to book it through the hostel. The private room location is through the main dormitory and it's noisy. The bed had a mosquito net , which was a must as one of the closed windows had loads of cracks and no net. No hooks.
- Raymond (10/5): Good Value for Money and the staff are very helpful. -
- Robert (10/5): -
- Neil (7/5): They overcharged me 1 extra day I booked 4 or 5 but they charge 37.50’dollars usd more than they should have and I nebve -
- Susan (4/5): Stoned staff and plastic sheets covering the mattresses… I’d avoid this place! - Location was great. Nice and close to town Bed sheets - too thin and bottom sheet did not stay on so constantly exposed the plastic sheets covering the mattress.
Staff were pretty average with check out staff still highly stoned!
- Ross (9/5): - Good hostel with friendly vibe. Well sized room and good location. Friendly staff and nice bar/leisure area
- Victoria (10/5): - Bella’s Backpackers is hands down a full-star hostel experience! From the moment I arrived, the owner made me feel completely welcome. He went above and beyond, treating me to fresh orange juice and delicious fry jacks, and sharing insider tips on all the best local spots and activities. The atmosphere is warm, friendly, and relaxed, making it feel like a home away from home. Whether you’re traveling solo or with friends, Bella’s is the perfect base to explore and enjoy the area. Highly, highly recommend!

Polecam
- Jegan (8/5): Well-maintained hostel in central San Ignacio - 5 dollar discount on ATM tour, clean, good facilities, very central, free welcome drink at the bar, etc. Honestly, this could have been a nice hostel if there were other young people staying there, but I decided to move because there was no one young.

- Megan (10/5): Great stay - Staff were really friendly and helpful, tours from the hostel, private room was good. Nice upstairs area and good central location Nothing
- Chatterjee (10/5): - My friend and I were visiting San Ignacio for a couple of nights and we had the most comfortable stay at Bella's. We took the private room with two beds and a bath -- cozy, super clean, well maintained and air conditioned. Plenty of common spaces across four floors, including a well equipped shared kitchen which has pretty much all you could need. They're located just steps away from downtown SI which meant public transit was always accessible. The staff was incredible and offered us every support possible. The resident kittens were a special highlight! Nothing!
- Samuel Mora (10/5): - Atención al cliente Todo estuvo bien, no me puedo quejar
- Worldglobetrotter (6/5): They were responsive to messages for the organization of the stay, but the tours are too expensive. - The location is good, but anyway San Ignacio is so small (and is also the only safe, at least during the day, place in Belize mainland). The place is fairly clean and the kitchen is fully equipped (there is also some free fruits). The hotelier was responsive to the messages on booking.com app prior to my arrival, which is very important for the organization of the stay: there is nothing to see in San Ignacio itself, you have to use this place as a base to explore temples in the area, some of which can be visited also on you own, while for some others you need a tour (the hostel provide several of them, which have to be booked ahead). Bear in mind that no tours go to El Pilar as it is just way too risky for attacks, while the situation has improved for Caracol, for which there is no more armed car escorting tourist vans along the road like it was until the near past (now the temple is full of soldiers and the road is patrolled, but you are no longer escorted in columns of cars). Xunantunich can be reached by public bus (2,50$ each way) and you can go to Cahal Pech just on foot. It is more a party hostel which is not my thing, but that’s a matter of taste. The real problems are others. The aircon in the room was way too strong: luckily, I got a bed in the mezzanine where the temperature was bearable. The are only very small lockers for valuables, not for the luggage) and almost all beds have no privacy curtains. Also, the elephant in the room: tour prices. The hostel will give you a discount with their friend tour company, but still the prices are crazy. They really take advantage of tourists.
- Rafael (9/5): Great staff, location, and value - Location and staff. Amber is awesome, she answers all the questions and helps with tours, laundry and anything else. I stayed in the private room and above is dorm and when people walk it can get noisy.
- Ayşen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nelson (7/5): Good - The owner and staff was extremely helping since I was traveling for business. The wifi signal was horrible and I wish there was air conditioning on my side.
- Lisa (9/5): Superb - Very nice staff, beautiful common areas and the best: 3 baby kittens that were super playful and always around - made me want to be in the hostel all the time! I'd go back. the bathroom got easily flooded - not too relevant for me. not very insulated.
- Jorge (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jeannie (8/5): Very good - Clean, great value place to stay. Close to town. Minor but no place to hang anything, not even wet towels
