Guest Reviews
- Sabrina (10/5): -
- Broussard (10/5): - The staff is amazing and hotel is one of a kind Everything
- Larissa (10/5): -
- Palo_KNM (10/5): - Vyborne jedlo a velmi mily personal ochotny vzdy pomoct. Farby stien a zariadenie izieb vas prenesie do rozpravky... Budete sa tu citit velmi prijemne...
- Fady (9/5): The Best Stay in West Seheil – Kato Waidi Nubian House - The Best Stay in West Seheil – Kato Waidi Nubian House!**
I have visited West Seheil several times and stayed at various hotels, but **Kato Waidi Nubian House** truly surpasses them all. I spent 4 days (May 6th – May 10th) here with my brother in a double room, and it was an exceptional experience.
**1. Prime Location:**
The hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of the tourist bazaars and right next to the main West Seheil pier. It is very easy to find and provides a perfect authentic atmosphere.
**2. Spotless Rooms & Breathtaking Views:**
Our room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. All rooms at Kato Waidi offer a direct, stunning view of the Nile. We could even see the Old Aswan Dam in the distance, which was a spectacular sight.
**3. Outstanding Staff:**
The hospitality is world-class. From **Ahmed** at reception to **Mustafa** in the restaurant, the entire team was incredibly polite and attentive, making sure every request was met with a smile to ensure our comfort.
**4. Exceptional Dining (Chef Arafa):**
The food was so delicious that we didn't eat a single meal outside the hotel during our 4-day stay. We ordered fish, meat, and "Kawareh" tagines; **Chef Arafa** is truly a master. The food is clean, high-quality, and very reasonably priced.
**5. Relaxing Landscape & New Upgrades:**
The landscape is beautiful, with mango trees providing shade throughout the property. I was also impressed by the new expansion and the high-standard swimming pool being prepared right on the Nile—it’s going to take the hotel to a whole new level!
**Bonus:** The hotel’s private pier made our trips very easy, as our tour boat could pick us up and drop us off directly at the property.
Kato Waidi is now my top choice in Aswan. A truly magnificent experience that we will definitely repeat! No TV in room , yet didnt need it as the view was astonshing .
the hotel entrance is slighlty hidden behind Bazars , yet was easy to find as every one knows the place :)

- Bolivieri (9/5): Central Nubian Village colorful destination - Cannot beat the location, just a few steps from the boats dock ! Our sunset cruise even came to pick us up directly at the property. Very colorful place, with large sitting/resting area. Rooms were exactly as described previously, maybe even slightly bigger than expected. Staff was also very helpful and responsive. I can note a few things but is it really what you are looking for while travelling for leisure (cause the Nubian village is definitely a leisure destination)? Wifi not great, shower could be improved (hot water and pressure both great, but no real shower dedicated space, more on top of the toilet seat) and bag breakfast for early departures contained almost only ultraprocessed food. That bein said, we had a look at regular breakfast and it looked really yummy !

- Kevin (7/5): - Limpieza Conexiones difíciles
- Akar (10/5): It was a really nice stay. Super clean, breakfast was amazing and the shower had amazing water pressure. Definitely the - It was so cute! I loved all the colors Nothing
- Nicole (10/5): Peaceful and relaxing - Absolutely adored the building itself and it’s so relaxing being by the river. The room itself was lovely and comfortable and I will say that it was a very peaceful stay.
The food was amazing - absolutely loved the beef dishes that we had, they were all cooked beautifully and so tender! The cheesecakes for dessert was also wonderful. Big compliments to the chef!
If you want to organise tours, this is also something that they are able to provide. We organised a tour to Abu Simbel and Philae Temple with them and I have no complaints. They even put together a breakfast bag for us when we left at 4am for Abu Simbel.
You’re also only a few seconds away from the vendors outside for souvenir/gift shopping which is a plus if this is the last part of your trip as there are plenty to choose from.
Overall - we loved our stay here and the staff were amazing and very welcoming and friendly. Thank you! WiFi is mainly located in the cafe/restaurant area. If you work remotely or you have a business online which needs tending to, you wont be able to get WiFi in your room. But it’s okay to sit out in the sitting area. However sometimes the WiFi was also spotty.
- Catriona (9/5): Colourful and comfortable stay - Very comfortable room. Great massage. Location was fun right on the water but close to bazaars in Nubian village. Had a couple of tasty tagine dinners too I booked a trip to Abu Simbal and the communication about morning pick up arrangements could have been slightly better.
- Muhammed (10/5): Amazing stay at the heart of Nubian village. - Right in the heart of the Nubian village, this stay offers a perfect mix of comfort and authenticity. The staff are incredibly helpful and always just a call away, while still ensuring complete privacy throughout your stay.
We stayed for two days and had all our dinner from their restaurant the food was delicious and very reasonably priced, with no sense of overcharging or taking advantage of tourists.
The stay itself was wonderful and the Nile view is absolutely stunning. Big thanks to Ahmed and the team for making it such a memorable experience. Nothing
- Stefan (10/5): -
- Antonio (9/5): Struttura all interno del villaggio nubiano ad assuan, ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo -
- Valencia Andrade (10/5): - The facilities are perfect. There is no better place to live the Nubian tradition, the staff is very friendly and attentive, the food is very tasty and in good quantity, all very clean and in good condition. I would definitely stay in this beautiful place again. EXPERIENCE 10/10 Just a recommendation, expand the menu a bit with snack food, the rest is perfect.
- Eduardo (10/5): Amazing - One of a kind spot. Super peaceful after dealing with so much commotion from my flight. It was an amazing get away. Food was arranged accordingly and the check in process was very welcome. Would 100% book again! N/A
- Csenge (10/5): -
- Jade (8/5): -
- Csenge (10/5): Peaceful, comfortable and just beautiful - The property itself is unique and beautiful! When you arrive it might surprise you the surrounding as its in a rural area but it’s so peaceful and comfortable.
I would also like to mention the kindness which welcomed us in this beautiful place. The stuff was super helpful, we asked to see crocodiles and if we can get henna and they took us to their home to show it. We booked multiple rooms and one of the rooms didn’t had hot water. They tried to fix it instantly but the issue was something else.
- Christos (10/5): A True Nubian Experience - Our stay at the apartment in Kato Waidi Nubian Resort in Nubian Village was truly wonderful. The place was beautiful, peaceful, and full of character, offering a genuine feeling of the Nubian atmosphere. Every corner of the resort had its own charm, with colors, views, and moments that felt unforgettable.
What made the experience even more special was the sincerity of the staff. Their kindness and hospitality felt natural and heartfelt, making us feel truly welcome throughout our stay.
In the end, it was not just a stay, but a true experience, one that leaves vivid images in your mind long after you leave. Ι could mention various small things that differ from typical European standards. However, when you choose to stay in a place like this, you come for the full experience. It’s part of the charm and authenticity of the destination. Instead of focusing on differences, you simply embrace them and enjoy the place exactly as it is.
- Usama (10/5): -
- Virginie (8/5): Très bel hôtel avec vue magnifique. - Vue magnifique.
- Juan (10/5): - Helpfully staff, lication on the nile N/A
- Nikita (1/5): - Property is colourful, but rooms are not maintained. Washrooms are too dirty. Our washroom had drainage issue and all the shit started throwing up from rhe drainer
- Mohamed Tarek (9/5): -
- Florent (10/5): Magnifique !
- Habiba (10/5): Exceptional hospitality and stunning Nile views! - Our stay at Kato Waidi was the highlight of our trip to Aswan. From the moment we arrived, the staff treated us like family. They were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make us comfortable.
We were pleasantly surprised when they upgraded our room to a Nile view for free, and waking up to that scenery was absolutely breathtaking. They also allowed us a late checkout, which made our departure so much more relaxed.
The breakfast was amazing—fresh, authentic, and plenty of variety. Special thanks to the team for helping us arrange our transport; they worked within our specific budget to ensure we got where we needed to go without any stress. Highly recommend this gem!
- Huan (8/5): -
- Monica (9/5): It’s the perfect place to chill by the Nile, very quiet and serene with excellent staff and services - The staff and services were excellent
- David (10/5): Amazing hotel on the Nile River in a Nubian Village - Amazing Property, amazing location, right in the heart of the village on the water and amazing/friendly staff and people. Must do if you’re in Aswan and this is the best place to stay.
- Ahmed (10/5): -
- Ahmed (10/5): Great location and beautiful people - We spent 2 nights in Kato Waidi which is perfectly located on the Nile next to the touristic boat dock. Also, in the middle of nubia touristic souq (bazar).
People were very friendly and helpful. Will visit again. Na
- Ahmed (10/5): -
- Despoina (7/5): We had a great introduction to the Nubian community of the village, a very pleasant stay and helpful people around us. - The location was excellent and allowed us to experience the Nubian village and market. The terrace had a great view to the river and a nice Nubian breakfast. The people were very kind and helpful.
- petra (9/5): -
- Nikita (1/5): - Very unhygienic
- Kung Wen (10/5): -
- Gaia (6/5): Could be improved! - The view was really nice, the building is really nice and cozy we got an overpriced tour on a boat and transfer to the airport. Moreover, we ate twice: the first was amazing, while the second time the chicken we ordered was, unfortunately, completely burnt.
- Grand (6/5): -
- Tatiyan (10/5): Wonderful Staff and Beautiful Property - Absolutely loved my stay here! The staff was so friendly, and the food at the restaurant was incredible. The property was also so beautiful, full of vibrant colors. I would definitely recommend staying here if you're in Aswan.
- Ehren (10/5): - It was a cool village, nice place to stay, uniquely colorful for Egypt. The road to the reaort was very bad and narrow and there were extra charges for ride to get there.
- ELIZABETH (9/5): -
- cinbp23 (10/5): -
- Laila (8/5): -
- Shaneez (10/5): -
- Mandy (7/5): We had a relaxing few days stay here. An evening boat trip from the hotel and wonderful food. - Location was amazing. The character of the buildings. The helpfulness and friendly staff. Access to the property was difficult due to working on the roads. I understand that this is entirely out of their control and they went to enormous trouble to get around the problem.
- Rob (9/5): -
- SHIH HAN (10/5): -
- CHEN HAO (10/5): -
- Hari (9/5): Magical Nile River Views - I booked the Nile river view room on the second floor.
The view was breathtaking especially during sunrise and sunset.
The location itself is in a Nubian village so expect dirt roads and the means of transportation is via a touk touk because the taxi can't get to the hotel per se due to many factors (lol) The hotel is very cute and the room was clean with comfy beds. The breakfast could use a few more options.
Now as for the bathroom...well there is no shower area nor bath tub you just have a shower head in the bathroom next to the toilet so you need to shower out in the open and then mop the bathroom floor (lol) I understand it's not for everyone but for 2 days I survived the simple life.
- Jon (9/5): An oasis of peace and tranquility - Fantastic location right on the Nile, rooms large, clean and comfortable. We had lunch and breakfast. Lunch included local dishes and was probably one of the best meals i’ve had in Egypt. Staff very helpful, organised trip on the Nile for us. Felt we could really unwind after a hectic week in Cairo and Luxor. Difficult to find.
- Alok (10/5): Amazing, peaceful and staff is really nice - Amazing, right by the Nile Everything was amazing
- Umi (10/5): - I really liked the houses and room with cultural way of painting.
They provide good tour with good price as well.
- KUAN YU (10/5): -
- Faten (9/5): -
- Juliana (6/5): Ok but there are better options for the price - Lovely place , very colourful. There isn’t much happening at this hotel — it’s not particularly entertaining or engaging, and honestly, a bit overpriced.
If you plan to arrange transport to the village or the airport, I strongly recommend doing it yourself rather than through the hotel. They charge $15 per person, which is excessive. Remember, you’re in Egypt, where prices are generally much lower than back home — so there’s no reason to pay inflated “tourist rates.”
For example, I paid just $12 total for a private boat from Aswan to the hotel port (for 4 people), and then arranged a taxi from the hotel to the airport for $13 total (again, for 4 people). Compare that with the hotel’s per-person pricing, and you’ll see how quickly costs add up.
In short: don’t let the hotel handle your transport — you’ll save a lot by organizing it yourself.
- Elaine (4/5): Disappointed - After we arrived we were informed that although I had booked two deluxe double rooms and earlier mentioned four people I was told only two people were paid for and had to pay for two more ( adult family of four) no problem we paid the extra. We were then told there was a party 9-11 on that night in central area with bedrooms around. Before 9 pm the live music arrived and was outside my son and daughter in law's room and we were upstairs and it sounded as though they were in our room.
To make it worse two of our party were tummy sick and unwell. Not a good experience
- Yovana (8/5): -
- Tere (9/5): - Rate Kato Waidi Nubian Resort at Nubian Village is truly a beautiful and welcoming place to stay. Nestled right in the heart of the Nubian village, it offers an authentic and peaceful experience just a short walk from the local market. The area is vibrant but calm, and it feels like you're stepping into a different rhythm of life.
One of the best parts about staying here is the location—it’s right by the eatery where you can easily rent a felucca (traditional boat) for a very fair price. We originally booked just one night but loved it so much we stayed for two. We had the pleasure of meeting a local named Bob Marley, who docks his boat just outside the hotel. He gave us a wonderful private tour on the Nile for about three hours, taking us to a serene local beach and showing us hidden spots along the river. It was an unforgettable experience.
The food at the hotel is delicious and authentically Nubian—fresh, flavorful, and made with love. Everything about the place feels local and genuine, which made our stay even more meaningful.
We also recommend walking around the nearby market. There’s a cozy coffee place just around the corner (possibly the only one in the area), and they serve excellent Turkish coffee and traditional Nubian coffee—a perfect stop to relax and soak in the local atmosphere.
This place is a gem. If you're looking for a truly local, affordable, and memorable stay, Wadi Hotel is it. We’ll definitely be coming back!
- Hussien (1/5): My stay at this property was extremely unpleasant and disturbing. The staff were not only unprofessional but also harass - Unfortunately, my experience at the property was not positive. There were many insects and even some reptiles around, which made it quite uncomfortable. The air conditioning was very weak, making it hard to relax, especially in the heat. Additionally, the toilet area didn’t feel secure due to exposed or nearby electrical wiring, which raised safety concerns. Lastly, the overall setup of the place lacked privacy, which made it difficult to feel at ease during my stay. I didn’t like several aspects of the property. There were a lot of insects and even some reptiles, which made the environment uncomfortable. The air conditioning was very weak and didn’t cool the space properly. I was also concerned about the toilet area—it didn’t feel secure due to exposed electrical elements nearby. Lastly, the overall layout of the place didn’t offer much privacy, which affected my comfort during the stay.
- Lara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Timothy (10/5): Authentic, friendly, and relaxing. Can’t beat the price either. - The location is enchanting, the food is amazing, smiling faces, and the sound of the Nile. I was so happy with this hotel. My wife and I are anthropologists and the location in the Nubian village really made our trip. Mahalo Kati Waidi aloha My wife is afraid of dogs and there was many dogs in the area, but hey it’s Egypt.
- Lydia (9/5): Lovely! - Kato Waidi is on a lovely location and yet in the centre of the Nubian village. It's quiet, clean and the people are very nice.
- Farah (8/5): Very good -
- George (9/5): Felt like a home from home - The staff were very hospitable and welcoming. We only stayed one night and but wished we stayed for longer. It is a beautiful part of the world and there it feels like a real sanctuary! Also, the air con was amazing which we did not originally expect!
- Bhumika (7/5): Good stay but be mindful of remote location - The staff is the highlight of the place, very nice people and great manager. Food was good and reasonable. Good Nile view from the lobby. So it's perhaps the expectations were different, but location is much more of a village than a tourist spot (it does have a few touristy shops). While it's location beside is Nile is really nice, reaching the place itself is quite a hassle. Also, IT IS EXTREMELY KEY to book your transfer with the hotel to pick you up from the airport/train. The city is tiny and rural, and has no Uber and very dodgy looking cab providers on the airport. We arrived after 8pm in Aswan, so it was already dark, and the roads are really bad trying to reach this place. The rooms are basic (good brickwork) with tiny windows, and our wifi in the room mostly didn't work (one in the lobby works). You are very dependent on hotel transfers in this location, which are quite expensive ($15 one way trip to the city) and much higher than what other resorts in Luxor charged us. That was the main drawback of the place.
- Audrey (9/5): Superb - The location is ideal ! The food at the restaurant is great and the rooms are absolutely lovely
