Guest Reviews
- Sarah (9/5): -
- Kathryn (10/5): Beautiful quiet house with an amazing view! We even woke up early to watch the sunrise -
- EInat (10/5): - Beautiful new room, with shared well equiped kitchen and living room. The setting is wonderful, in the middle of nature Everything was perfect. Our room had a smaller window, we wished we got one of the other rooms that had a big window with a view.
- Raphael (10/5): Amazing place with a beautiful view! - The property was really clean and we had a contactless and easy check-in and check-out. They were really friendly and the kitchen was clean and well equiped. They even had milk, oats, coffee and more available for free. The view is really amazing too!
- Nicole (10/5): - The place is even more amazing than the photos. Bedrooms huge, clean, comfy and the views are absolutely stunning. The common area was really good too and you have ability to cook, make own breakfast, store stuff in fridge if needed which the listing doesn't really make clear. It's a gorgeous place to stay
- Candice (9/5): Excellent - Clean, amazing location, very comfortable bed. Well stocked with games books etc
- Marije (5/5): Great view, but it doesn’t outweigh the negatives. - The view from the porch is amazing! It’s a little further out than expected. So bring your groceries with you. I didn’t so I had to drive another hour to get my groceries.
I stayed in the King room with a private bathroom. The bed is way too soft for me but that’s personal preference, I was very happy I at least brought my own pillow.
The room could use a TV.
There is a weird smell in the room. You’ll get used to it but every time you leave the room and you come back in, it hits you in the face again.
I knew it was a shared space but I did not realize how open it is to the owners which I thought was weird. Plus you can literally hear them pee right above your head…
The wifi is VERY glitchy!
- Giuliana (10/5): - The place is in the middle of the nature Despite to be really close to Coombs and that road, you have to do a long ride coming back to Qualicum Beach
- Carla (7/5): Great location and view, little privacy and comfort - Location and View Stinky Bathroom, Bedroom without Private TV , cold , Not enough Privacy . Similar to a Hostel
- Sanchez (6/5): - View was spectacular Room did not have a tv which was confusing on the booking
- Jeremie (10/5): Lovely king size bed. - Nice remote location with peaceful views. Access to the hot tub would have been nice.
- Antoine (9/5): Splendid experience, above expectation and willing to redo it with them. Price is very competitive - The view was wonderful, view to the forest and the mountain underneath. The outside porch sitting and the view from the room to the outside were splendid. It was a relaxing period above the mountain. We wish to revisit the place again.
It was very close to the waterfalls.
Inside of the house was clean and well organised.
Home owners were welcoming us with smiley and checking hands attitude. Nothing. No complaints!
- Dani (9/5): Very clean, quiet and spacious. Very comfortable bed and bedding. Shared areas are convenient and tidy. Easy communicati - Clean, bright, quiet A little more remote than we expected, but after the initial run, easy to access.
- Tirthanu (3/5): - Location is great. Close to beautiful sights and parks and a little secluded but not far from the freeway. Paper thin walls and snoopy hosts. You can hear everything the hosts are doing upstairs and they can hear everything you do. Okay for a nights stay but don't expect any kind of privacy.
It's one thing for the hosts to be clear and communicative about this aspect and be prepared for it, so you could be good guests. It's another thing for hosts to not say anything about this but bang on your roof rudely and startle you. Very very passive aggressive and no apology regarding this whatsoever.
- Fatima (10/5): very quiet, nice view and very clean -
- Amanda (8/5): Exceeded expectations! - Room and amenities were excellent! The view is spectacular!
- Gary (9/5): - No breakfast
- Jana (9/5): - Die Ruhe und der Blick in die Natur
- Viraj (8/5): -

- Gordon (1/5): - Very difficult to access from Qualicum Beach. Long time to get there. No sign at the road entrance. The kitchen and deck are all shared . I looked out my window at another couple sitting right there . No coffee machine in room- the shared kitchen had an espresso machine-why not a Nespresso ( easy ) machine in every room ( like most places ) Drapes did not shield early a.m. sun.
Way too many signs -like everyone is a child . Not like I expected and not for me.
- Fatima (10/5): - quiet, clean and nice view
- Mohammad Irfan (8/5): -

- Jan (10/5): Spectacular view before the mist settles. The woodstove was a bonus. Beautiful home & stay -
- franck (9/5): -
- Nicholas (10/5): -
- Kari (9/5): - The room was clean and nicely furnished with good kitchen. It was well situated near the centre and walking trails in nature. The First Nation cultural centre is really worth visiting. -
- Amir (9/5): -
- Orla (10/5): -
- Susan (9/5): Very comfortable large kingsize bedroom with a beautiful view of the ocean and all the amenities. - Wonderful view and the comfortable king size bed.
Easy entrance and huge common room with all the amenities The weather was very windy and rainy and it was dark so finding it on a steep hillside was difficult but certainly not the owners fault. Top it all off, there was a power outage but they communicated concern and lit candles.
- Keelan (9/5): -
- Liz (8/5): Worked out fine once we got some supplies at local shop - Beautiful location, clean Remote, didn’t fully read description, far from everything
- Angie (9/5): Comfortable and cosy place with a beautiful view - We loved the comfort of the place. Everything seems to be of high-quality standards. The view is incredible. We love hot tub so we rented the room with a hot tub. The tub itself is a little old but it is a beautiful view from there. So definitely worth it.
I would definitely stay here again
- Adeline (10/5): Fantastique -
- David (10/5): Short stay this time, but will be back for sure. - The views from the bedroom and the walkout concrete patio were absolutely breathtaking. Even though the entire basement was a shared space (including the bathroom), it is big enough that you dont even notice the other guests. It would have been great to have a choice of coffee vs. just an espresso machine, although that was a nice touch. Perhaps a Keurig with the option of decaf, breakfast/mild blend for those of us that are not so tolerant of espresso.
- Barbara (9/5): -
- Eva (10/5): -
- Anna (10/5): Ich habe mich unglaublich wohl gefühlt!
- Ron (8/5): - Nice view, comfortable shared space with cooking facilities and plentiful food for breakfast. Quiet and peaceful. Advertised as in-room bathroom when it was not, bathroom was shared and outside the room which for elderly persons not ideal.
- Nona (10/5): I'm hopeless with a map, but our host was so gracious in helping us. - What a lovely mountain style property. Wooded area walk, and very short drive to a beautiful Qualicam walk through the woodlands. Comfortable communal area, fireplace and kitchenette Dressing table and mirror would be great to have in the bedroom.
- Kodi (10/5): -
- Geoffrey (9/5): Overall peaceful and pleasant! - Remote, quiet, clean, comfortable, great view, hot tub(!), compact kitchen for fixing dinner. A bit hard to find, open stairs to home owners above a bit strange, shared bathroom not ideal.
- Helena (10/5): -
- Bowe (10/5): - What a magnificant place!! Everything comes together. Only high quality products &materials in this stunning place
- Mélanie (10/5): Juste Waw ! - Our little stay at your place was just incredible 🤩 everything was even better than in the photos, really very clean, then the place is just fabulous, a view to dream about!!! Another big thank you to Gaya & Sean 👋
- Jan (10/5): Beautiful view and very comfortable stay - Beautiful and extremely comfortable.
So relaxed, amazing views, great hikes nearby.
Just wonderful Access via a steep gravel road, but it’s manageable.
- Pavel (8/5): Perfect more than one night stand! - It was a great experience at the Mountain House of Wonder. The communications with the host were great, the location is well described. All the descriptions were correct and reliable.
Me and my spouse really enjoyed our stay at this marvelous place. Next time near Qualicum Beach we will definitely stay at this place! 1) The strong mold scent. It was almost everywhere in the bathroom.
2) The power shortage. It is quite inefficient to cook and have lack of electricity.
- suzanne (9/5): Lovely to experience this remote secluded location - Very comfy bed Quite remote
- Rianne (10/5): Hidden gem - What a nice hidden gem. Beautifully decorated with great attention to detail. A comfortable large bed, a large shared area with a kitchen and a huge patio with stunning views. I recommend to take your own breakfast. You can warm up buns, cook eggs etc.
- Thomas (10/5): -
- Nina (10/5): -
Etwas abgelegen
- Andrews (10/5): - Beautiful rooms, with breathtaking views.
- Kim (10/5): The bed was very comfortable and the view was fabulous. - The property had a fantastic view.
- Alan (8/5): - comfortable king size bed. very quiet with lovely shared common room and kitchen. Quite far from restaurants as it really is well up the side of a mountain!
- Kostiantyn (8/5): -
- Anastasia Alexander (5/5): Has potential - This place has potential, with a wonderful open view, but when we arrived they were recovering from an evacuation due to forest fire. The owner gave us a friendly welcome and explained about the fire - but I felt this should have been messaged prior to arrival with the option of cancelling the booking. The excellent free coffee was much appreciated. I hadn't realised that this was a "home stay" - three bedrooms on the ground floor of the owners' home. The House of Wonder" must definitely be their upstairs quarters. On arrival, the first thing we saw were appliances strewn around the entrance that were being cleaned after an unexpected evacuation due to forest fire. The hot tub, which should be decommissioned as it is old and tattered, was cold. The area of the stay is their lower ground floor and the outside areas are not landscaped. The patio was weedy. The bedroom was adequate but not comfortable. The bedding looked old and messy, there was no mirror, no black-out blinds/curtains. I had missed that it was a shared bathroom which would have put me off making the booking. There was dust under the sofa in the main area, the yoga mat provided was not clean. The signage around the property could do with a friendlier vibe - the bookshelf is labelled "Don't Steal Our Books". I appreciated that the owners were working to make this place meet the mark, but there is some way to go. I wish them best of luck.
- Christin (5/5): - The scenery, comfortable room. Clean facilities. I asked for a cot and got offered a crib, when I booked the room I said the ages of my kids (13,16). Pet policy was unclear(I think it is seasonal) I brought my guinea pigs that stay in an enclousure and I was charged $200 for pet fees. I was told when we left that our room smelled like a farm which is an insult to me because I would not stay in such conditions, nor would I be that careless in cleaning up after my animals. I was told to pay the $200 or get out of the room immediatly, I paid the $200 because I had an excursion planned for my kids and I. The operators found the blankets for the guinea pigs and some veggies and hay over the side of the cliff of their property, they said I left it all over the sidewalk. I know I dumped everything over the edge. The only way they found out I had pets was because of the blankets left behind. We ended up leaving 1 night early.
The night we got there the kids and I soaked in the hotub and we were asked to leave the hot tub, 1 room that they rent out is allowed ro use the hottub. There was a sign up in our room saying we couldn't use the hotub but no sign in my son's room so since I paid for both rooms then I figured we could use the hottub. They rented out my son's room(which had no windows) because they could'nt provide a cot. They charged me an extra $25 for ny son's room. When I asked if we could use the hottub if there was no one staying in the hottub room the next night I was told no then I was told we could use the hottub for an extra $15 per person. I didn't book the room with the hottub because it didn't have an ensuite bathroom. I found the operator very ridgid. There were mutiple security cameras up on the property and I felt like big brother was watching me,. on top of that the staircase that separates the operators living quaters fom the guest queaters is open so you hear and see what is going on upstairs.
- Sara (9/5): - A house in the heart of nature. Beautifully decorated and comfortable.
- Bradley (7/5): Great home beautiful views drive was a little challenging at the end. - Beautiful view. Large common area with espresso coffee maker. Nice seating outside covered for rainy or snowy weather. Was surprised how steep the road was in the last kilometer. Second time coming back after dinner was a lot easier as I knew what to expect. Would never have found it if not for Google maps.
- Adrienne (10/5): -
- Nestor (10/5): -
- Anne (8/5): Lovely location and views - The reviews were fantastic the living room was great and Kitchen was well stocked It was tough to get there and the shared bathroom
The hot tub needs cleaning
- Thijs (9/5): Superb -
- Bernnard (9/5): Superb -
- Laurin (8/5): A nice little Getaway - The view was gorgeous, the bed comfortable, the living room cozy. Sean greeted us really nicely and offered his help if we needed something.
- Oleksandr (10/5): Amazing emotions after our stay at Mountain House of Wonder! All set up for your comfort and wellbeing! Thank you! - Such a nice place with a perfect view.
- Brian (9/5): Superb -
- Soble (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (5/5): It was okay but would stay again with all the rules and not to use water longer than 5 minutes for a shower. The alarm w - Location was very nice. They had many rules and had a dog that was running around and it came down to where we were sitting yet they said don’t pet the dog well don’t have the dog running around us then. The alarm in our room went off at 3 am and would not shut off. No apology from the owners.
- Aleksei (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic views and great accommodation
- Cristal (8/5): Very good - Daya & Sean,
Everything turned out great despite my trepidations about shared quarters. Better than a hostel in the owners west coast dream home. From qualicum beach to your magic mountain was faster than I expected at 830 pm. New space with King bed was so comfy and the attached ensuite was lovely. Nice brand new vanity. Tall ceilings, homemade dresser and view out the window of mini trees. Fun hippie hammock swings & vista’s even though we passed on the $30 surcharge to use the inviting hot tub plus the surcharge for $50 for the extra room and $ for breakfast. We respected the quiet hours and didn’t sleep on the communal couch. My son adored the gratis big glass of OJ, and peanut butter toast. The self serve Americano & oatmeal were very decent! Guests can store their own food in the shared fridge. Things to add: hairdryer, maybe some a piece of fruit, herbal tea, hooks in washroom and maybe hand towels, face clothes, robes for a spa feel in winter. We would return if we needed a mid-island stay & s wonderland of snow in winter with your Woodstove & hot tub appeal. Thanks for your hospitality.
- Janet (8/5): Very good - View was great.
- Wallace (8/5): Very good -
- Timothy (8/5): Great stay with some minor issues. - Great location with sensational views.
The King room we stayed in was very nice with its own en-suite. Our son stayed in the deluxe king room and the room itself was very nice. However it would benefit from heavy curtains or blackout blinds as the room gets flooded with light from very early in the morning. This room also suffers from noise issues from above with the owners’ dog restless at night.
- Lucy (9/5): Lovely comfortable stay - Location and view. The facilities and the amount of games etc
The waterfall nearby The hot tub looked tatty
- Nicole (7/5): Good - The view was amazing, it was very clean, and the bed was comfortable. It was not well advertised that the kitchen and living spaces were shared in the listing. Also, there was a noise curfew for the guests, but the residents upstairs continued to move around outside of those times, so there was a significant amount of noise in the early morning due to the creaky floors and pets. The parking situation is not ideal, especially if you have a larger vehicle, as all (possibly up to three) vehicles have to fit into the small driveway.
- Uwe (10/5): Great accommodation, definitely recommended - We always stayed in hotels or motels before so this was the first time we chose such an accommodation like the Mountain House of Wonder. And we haven’t been disappointed. We felt in love with the relaxed and private atmosphere there. The rooms and also the shared areas are beautiful and tastefully decorated. Actually, we just booked 2 nights but extended to a total of 7 nights after all
Sean and Daya are fantastic hosts. Though they are committed to accommodate guests in the most convenient way they are restrained and in no way intrusive. Nothing
- Cody (9/5): Superb - Everything beautiful spot beautiful home Hot tub right outside another guests window forced them to shut down hot tub privileges to the other 2 rooms in near future which is kind of a bummer if you dont get the right room
- Moses (10/5): Excellent experience. We will be booking again when in the area. - Great location, incredible views and excellent hosts. Nothing.
- Maude (10/5): Wonderful just as its name - The House of Wonder certainly keep its name because the place is wonderful! Awsome view, quiet space, gentle and joyful host, comfy bed, and all kitchen accessories you could imagine for a quick service. All needs were met for a gentle and repairing night. The cat (Sonny) even came to say hi outside and got some cuddles in the morning. Thank you so much for sharing your special place, it is such a gift! I love shared space but it is not made for all. If you do not want to share spaces especially bathroom, they have a room which as its own private bathroom.
- Jacob (10/5): Exceptional -
- Antony (10/5): Exceptional - Spa bath The fuse blew.if you had more than one appliance on at a time. I think they.were working on getting this problem fixed.
- Geoff (8/5): Great views in the Mountains. Cozy & Comfortable - Wonderful views.
- Skatach (10/5): Amazing stay - Amazing view, super comfy bed, everything was perfect 👌 Nothing.
- Tzou (10/5): Really nice place to stay - The view from the bedroom was stunning and everything was very comfortable and clean. So close to Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park. When I need to stay in the area I will definitely return.
- Khunti (9/5): Superb -
- Madeleine (8/5): Very good - Charged $20 for washing and drying. Host removed and stopped our drying on multiple occasions outside of quiet hours, leaving us with lots of wet clothes that should’ve been dry and having to go to a laundromat
- Donna (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely stunning in every way!
When I need to stay in the area I will definitely return.
Nature lovers dream and home inside and outside space is beautiful.
I love all the very detailed instructions so everything is so easy.
Thanks for an amazing stay
- Sandie (9/5): Sadly, we arrived late and left early, so we didn't get to fully enjoy this beautiful property. - Beautiful, spacious house, the lower area well set up for guests.
- Laurens (10/5): Large room with amazing view! - Large and clean room with an amazing view! The facilities were abundant and luxurious, we loved the hot tube. Overall we had an very pleasant stay.
- Tatiana (10/5): I had an amazing stay, thank you - Amazing location, the view is just breathtaking, nice big open living room area (shared), Hottub is a plus
- Emily (10/5): Exceptional -
