Guest Reviews
- Sadie (10/5): Exceeded expectations! - The property is absolutely stunning- it exceeded my expectations. The staff is so friendly, kind, and helpful- they helped us arrange several activities. Tubing on the river was a major highlight, as was lounging by the gorgeous pool. The food is also spectacular! A 10/10 stay.
- paul (9/5): -
- OTR (10/5): Fantastic! - What an incredible place! My family loved staying there - the nature, the pool, the beach area, the kayaks, the tubing, the food - everything was just fantastic. Such a beautiful area with all kinds of animals and birds to see. So serene on the river. Highly recommend. Perhaps a bit expensive but thought it worth it all the same. Transfer to San Ignacio way too expensive ($100 round trip). And only one wall hook in the entire room for four people.
- John (6/5): Not really worth it. Shop around more. - Check in was casual. The location is away from the crowds. The wild animals were cool. Our outside tour company got us out of there every day. Expensive for what you get. There was construction every day -including grinding metal right outside our room. The power failed at some point every day. The food (also hugely exspensive) was bland and in small portions. The Cocroaches, though polite, we're definitely there. The river water was very brown. The tours they offer are marked up considerably over the going rates.
- Jenny (10/5): It was an amazing stay, I would easily come back. - The property was really nice, great activities with the river and tubing, quiet pool in beautiful setting, great jumping off point for treks Nothing
- Nigel (10/5): Great resort, amazing staff, close to nature, intimate - Staff were fantastic. Great restaurant. Great location for tourists. Small, only 20 rooms - the room was spacious and beds amazing. "Wild visitors" - kinkajou, toucans, you name it, responsibly encouraged.
- Catherine (9/5): A great place to stay in the jungle with wonderful friendly staff, good food & wildlife all around! - We stayed in a treehouse which was great. The staff were really friendly & overall we had a wonderful time there. The road down to Sweet Songs was a little difficult to navigate. However once you were there it was a wonderful place to be.
- Jade (10/5): Don’t skip this place! Worth every penny! - It’s absolutely stunning! The staff were kind, helpful and really the icing on the cake. We were there for NYE and they had a cute event/dinner at the pool and it was just perfect. Our room was clean, comfortable and just gorgeous. The food at the restaurant is delicious. All of the activities offered were better than expected and a must do! The night tour guide was really fantastic, and also got us to the bonfire on the beach to toast marshmallows and bond with fellow travelers.
Can’t forget that we got to feed the Kinkajou at dinner a few nights in a row!!
- Mindee (10/5): - We enjoyed all of the amenities of the property. Floating down the river, the canoes and the night walk were amazing! The food was excellent too. The staff was very helpful and engaging.
- Sarah (9/5): A romantic jungle adventure for serious travelers….. - We loved the environment and sounds of being in the jungle. Our bed was amazing and loved our room facilities. Staff was amazing. We liked being close to San Ignacio and Xunantunich. Treehouse 15 was able to get weak Wi-Fi outside by bathtub. The road into the resort is not paved so about 15min in and tough to not damage rental car. Our AC was not working and couldn’t be fixed, a portable unit was put in but very loud, tough to sleep. Treehouse 15 is next to restaurant so very loud early and blowers doing landscaping maintenance begin early, not a place to sleep in so not quite worth $500 a night. Food was more basic American, not my style, nor anything to RAVE about.
- Laura (10/5): Gorgeous jungle lodge with spacious rooms, a beautiful pool and access to the river and tubing. We especially loved our - The room was spacious and stylish, access to the river and tubing, the restaurant was fabulous and the service was excellent. The pool was beautiful too. We had nowhere to unpack clothes, just a few hangars in the bathroom. We had a big room, so a set of drawers would have been much appreciated and made our stay a little more comfortable.
- Alexander (5/5): Nice staff but bad place. Wouldn’t stay here again - The surrounding jungle was incredible. The drinks that the bartender make are some of the best I’ve had and they’re cheap. The staff is also very nice and welcoming. The staff make you feel very comfortable like family The room and place itself were very basic and badly done, especially for the price. It made you just want to not spend any time there at all. I.e the tiles in the shower area make you feel like you’re in prison; in the room there was no place to hang a hand towel near the sink at all; the clothes hangers were all mismatched plastic ones; the towels were ratty and falling apart; the bed was older and creaky. The pool was nice but not heated. We went in December which is peak season. It didn’t get cold but definitely not hot enough for a non heated pool. I didn’t see anyone use it the whole time we were there. There wasn’t even a hot tub. The food was good the first day, but it went downhill quickly and by the last day my girlfriend got food poisoning from the fish. The drive out to this place is also very far off the main road on a bumpy dirt road. It’s fine one time when coming into the property but we went on tours every day we were there which meant driving on the bumpy road for 30 minutes just to get to the main road, then driving to the tours so we probably spent about 2-4 hours in the car every day we were here.
- Thomas (4/5): Very friendly staff, otherwise very disappointing. - We liked the very friendly staff. They are not to be blamed for the overall disappointing experience. Do not expect what the resort name suggests. There were almost no birds singing sweetly, and no other remarkable wildlife. We only saw tucans and some other dull birds who came for breakfast at the restaurant because they were fed fruit. Upon arrival, we discovered that our deluxe bungalow was exposed to three different annoying music sources, one coming from the restaurant, one coming from the adjacent kitchen, one coming from the pool area. We had expected a quite jungle feeling where you can hear the animals in the trees (which were not there anyway) rather than three conflicting music sources. To help us with the music, we were offered another deluxe bungalow away from the restaurant and pool at the far right side of the resort which would have meant an uprgrade. But this is where their huge generator runs 24/7 because the resort has no line electricity. The generator noise was like a busy highway. We declined. The staff then made sure that there was no music from the restaurant and kitchen, which helped. The food choice and quality was not great and not adequate for this type of "luxury" resort. Bear in mind that San Ignacio with its nice restaurant scene is 8 miles away and the trip there and back with a taxi will set you back 80 USD. The pool area is nice and Henry was a great bartender. The water in the pool was surprisingly cold and made us wonder how the water can stay so cold in a warm environment, day and night. The rest of the grounds is not in good shape and shows a lack of proper maintenance and under-investment. Our room was drab. Ice-cold LED lights, as far as the lamps were not broken. A bathroom that has not been renovated in many years. Worn-out mattresses. This is not what you expect when you pay 2,800 USD for 6 nights outside the high season.

- Evan (7/5): We had a great stay but the property is suited to older children not toddlers - Beautiful setting, really friendly staff, love the reusable water bottle idea it made things so easy for us. We travelled with toddlers so the pathways were a bit difficult to traverse, there was no bathtub in the room (not a deal breaker but would have been a nice option), the pool steps could use a edger tile as they were a bit hard to see the edges when it was overcast but the pool itself was awesome and we did find the food and drinks a bit pricier then we anticipated though everything tasted good.
- G (10/5): -
- Cloe (10/5): - Stunning place to stay, with good food and poolside cocktails and lots of activities around. Staff were friendly and helpful. We did a kayak tour into San Ignacio which was super chill and the guide was very informative. Got to see monkeys and toucans!
- Henrie Caravalho (10/5): Highly recommended! - Amazingly gorgeous property, kind and helpful staff, and the onsite food and drinks were delicious! We did not realize that it was 4 miles down a dirt road which made coordination for some activities a little more challenging and costly than anticipated, but the property more than made up for that. I would come back in a heartbeat!
- Frank Schoen (9/5): -
- Caroline (10/5): -
- madeleine (9/5): - The staff were incredible, all so helpful and friendly. Night walks with John to find wildlife were fun. Amazing seeing the toucans at breakfast. If you’re not keen on tarantulas this is probably not a great place for you 😅
- Kerry-ann (9/5): The stay was magical for our family. Credit to the staff for making it a special place. - Beautiful setting and attentive staff!
- David (10/5): We found the Sweet Songs lodge to be a pleasant surprise and the highlight of my wife's trip. - This lodge was a pleasant surprise to the entire family. The staff was amazing from the reception to the dining services. The pool area was beautiful overlooking the river. The food was delicious. I think the best part of this lodge was the birdwatching right from your dining room table. The staff has a perch with food and all different types come and eat. The room was spacious and everyone was super accommodating. Highly recommend. The only thing that i didn't like was the road going to the lodge. Very bumpy and just things caught me by surprise while driving up to it at night. Made sure we did the road in the daylight. I think the signage to the property could be more apparent from the road. It is 3.5 miles from the main road to the lodge. Other than that, nothing.

- H. (8/5): Fantastische locatie midden in de jungle. - Schitterende locatie midden in de jungle
Mooi zwembad
Goede restaurant/bar faciliteit
Behulpzaam personeel Enigzins beperkte openingstijden restaurant
Fijne bedden! Op locatie ontbijt lunch en diner mogelijk. Dorp is 20 min rijden!
- Fionnuala (10/5): Paradise with Incredible Hospitality - The kindest, most helpful staff and beautiful property. Great excursions and guides.
- Nathalie (10/5): - Het was echt heerlijk!
- Sven (8/5): -
- Debbie (9/5): Loved it - Loved the staff,A/C, hot water, setting, access to purified water, tubing I didn’t particularly care for the meals but that may relate to my plebian palate.
- Jana (9/5): -
- Leigh (10/5): - Sweet Songs is set in a beautiful location in the middle of the jungle. The lodge is lovely and clean and the beds were really comfortable. The facilities are great, we especially loved the pool. The staff are fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us. They were also great with the kids, especially Maysin. It’s amazing having breakfast and dinner in such beautiful surroundings, especially when kinkajous, toucans and other animals join you. We were sad to leave! Nothing!
- Christina (9/5): -

- Emily (10/5): - Amazing staff, property, food! Despite being there during a tropical storm and nearly all the activities being closed - we had a wonderful and relaxing stay.
- sara (10/5): Lovely place to relax and connect with nature ! - Rooms were very spacious and comfortable! Tours through the hotel were very easy to set up and guides were great! Bar/ restaurant was very good! We didn’t get to enjoy as much of the property as we’d liked since it was raining and we had to leave early but everything that we did see was just as perfect as the pictures online show Drinks were weak and bar wasn’t open late …..likely intentional since it was very calm family friendly place but don’t think you can party too hard or late at this place
- Thomas (10/5): Un séjour parfait malgré la pluie - Sa localisation

Son chef cuisinier Rien
- Elsa (10/5): -
- Jennifer (10/5): Amazing!!!! - We loved everything. out this property! The people weee amazing, the food was great and it was beautiful! We loved the rooms. We were in a treehouse in the jungle!
- Chadi (9/5): really enjoyed the stay, staff was outstanding and lodge is beautiful. our room (don't know about others) needed sig - loved the swimming pool that was beautiful and peaceful. restaurant was very nice too. distance from san pedro (particularly length of road once you leave the main road) and quality of the road to get there.
room 11 was a little bit outdated and requires some renovation. was ok though and comfortable. bathroom sink not convenient to use. shower pretty bad condition. room location a bit far from the main area in the lodge.
- Jessica (10/5): - AMAZING grounds! Well maintained and it leaves such an impression! Great great great!
The staff took care of us SO WELL! Esmeralda, Rita and all of the boys -(too many to name!). The property was very clean and organized! Highly recommend! NA - only suggestion would be to add a few more hummingbird feeders throughout the property!
- Lisa (6/5): Too pricey - The scenery was amazing, toucans right outside the bungalow. Pool and river were great. The food was incredibly expensive, four times the price of the same meal in the tourist restaurants elsewhere. As a family of four it ruined the experience a little. We stayed in five different locations in Belize, and this was the only one we were disappointed with in terms of value for money.
- Caroline (9/5): -
- Brandon (8/5): -
- Michelle (10/5): - We loved the surroundings and staff. Rooms are a little older, but very clean and comfortable. Pool was really nice and well maintained. River tubing was fun, but a little hike to get to the entry and exit. We rented a car and drove from Belize City. Was easy to find, but road to the lodge was a bit rough and steep. Missed my AWD/4X4 on the last 2 miles. Meals there were excellent. We did not do the all inclusive. Overall it felt like a land based cruise where our family could do individual things during the day and we could meet up for meals and time at the pool easily. Wish we could have had our two rooms closer together since the second room was 4 teenagers. Took a lot more walks up and down the hill to share sunscreen, and supplies.
- Hilary (8/5): - The grounds at the lodger were beautiful! We enjoyed the activities that we were able to book through Sweet Songs, and all of the staff were friendly. Rita was the best bartender! The fact that there is only one food option and it is very expensive.
The lodge will charge you $40 USD for a one way trip to town.
- Daniela (10/5): - Sweet songs jungle lodge is in the middle of the jungle and yet is classy and has all the amenities to make your stay a great one. We enjoyed floating on the river and relaxing at the pool. The food is excellent and wildlife is abundant. We have spotted tucans outside our room. We recommend to take a guided tour of the botanical gardens nearby.

- Devon Jimeenz (10/5): -
- Annemieke (8/5): Beautiful lodge with lots of wildlife around. - Since we are a family of 4 we booked a room with two double beds. The room was quite small and there was only room for two people to sit on the porch. Since renovation was being done to the room next to us and my husband complained about the noise we were upgraded to the garden cottage. I wasn’t too excited about the room but the garden cottage was fantastic for us as a family. The grounds of the resort are stunning and having the choice of swimming in the pool or tubing on the river was luxury. We loved the wildlife around the lodge. I didn’t like the room that we were first given too much since it was small and didn’t have the facilities for 4 persons.

All activities around are so amazing that it was hard to choose from the wide choise we were proposed at the reception. We learnt so much from the local people in few days than years in books. You definitely get the passion and the love for Belize from every person you talk to at the resort.
Absolutely recommend the horse back riding tour at sunset and the caracol tour! Even if we try, we cannot find anything at all we didn't like. We loved everything sooooo much! Everything was absolutely perfect!
- Furkan (4/5): A grotesquely overpriced accomodation in a nice, isolated location - The personnel is really nice and so is the location The rooms definitely need some love, bathrooms look moldy.
Because of the isolated location you are forced to eat there. The prices are absurd, which racks up an enormously overpriced bill when checking out.
Getting into town is also a pain because of the difficult road. But they charge 40 usd dollars for a pick up, which is in my opinion unheard of on top of the prices.
- Ana (7/5): I would pass next time - The property was beautiful. We saw many birds and animals. The staff was very nice too. This is a very Americanized hotel. Everyone goes to happy hour by pool same time, everyone eats ay same time, its like we are robots that are very undiversed. not our style of travel. Its very weird.
Food is also extremely expensive and had very few options (and honestly that good). One night was pasta night and I really didn't want pasta but thats all they had. One night was buffet and my kids had to pay buffet prices because they didn't have any other options. It was quite ridiculous.
- Jennifer (9/5): A little pricey for our family of 4, but lovely stay. I would recommend. - This is a beautiful property that is well-maintained. You feel like you are living among the birds and howler monkeys. The pool area was very nice and the treehouse dining room was a lot of fun. The staff was outstanding and so friendly. You could easily stay on the property and do the tours but we wanted to be a bit more independent. For this reason the location was tough. The hill up to the property is not easy with a rental car. Also, the pricing was high for tours and the food. For this reason, we did a lot on our own.
- Brittany (9/5): Love the tree houses, the one we stayed in, wasn’t as private, as I had hoped, because you could see into it from the pa - I love that it was deep in the jungle, we saw and heard so many birds and other animals. We actually were able to see the howler monkeys and were woken up by them at four in the morning one night with their loud sounds, but it was awesome!!! There were lots of kids…..but, obviously, unless we book an adult only, it’s hard to avoid. Totally understand why, but that’s our only gripe. If you’re looking for a romantic getaway, just know that.

- Pumba (7/5): - Absolutely wonderful property at beautiful location as well as very nice and helpful staff. Very tasty breakfast and lunch.
These are the reasons I still rate this stay relatively high. The price did definitely not reflect the standard of the room. Our room was not nice at all and would more fit into the category of hostel. We stayed in room 2. I believe the tree houses are better and would have booked if known.
The dinner was a bit to heavy for us. It would have been nicer with some lighter alternatives also in the evening. Maybe some of the lunch meals could also be offered here as improvement.
- Liz (9/5): The staff at Sweet Songs were amazing! Super friendly and professional. - The pool is such a great addition to the property and really enjoyed the Treehouse Bar vibe! Cabin # 1 is a bit dated but overall it was clean and comfortable.
- Justyna (10/5): - Pyszne jedzenie, otoczenie i przyroda - niesamowite. Tukany , kolibry czy kinkażu towarzyszyły nam podczas posiłków. Bardzo miły personel. Cudowne miejsce, w pięknym miejscu. Nie mam zastrzeżeń.
- Ingrid (10/5): - Amazing nature, gorgeous room, tree lounge thing, infinity pool, great food, toucans
- Neil (10/5): - Swimming pool a great addition. Excellent meals, pleasant and helpful staff. Comfortable rooms.

- Kristen (10/5): Absolutely can’t not wait to return. - We loved how friendly and nice the staff were. Exceptional hospitality. The food was amazing, fresh, and a farm-to-table menu. The cocktails are delicious! Derby made just the most wonderful drinks poolside. I can not get over how much I loved the wildlife interaction at the lodge. The double casita was comfortable and we appreciated the AC. I loved the shower and how rustic the amenities are. We loved the tours arranged through the lodge: 5 star quality guides and everything felt so safe and comfortable from start to finish. We can not wait to go back to do more. We sat on the patio every morning and drank coffee and listened to the birds. I loved the pool and how relaxing the whole space was. It is quiet and the perfect place for a couple to relax. We did not stay in a treehouse, but they looked amazing. The beach space is beautiful and we took a canoe one day up the river which was serene. Overall, I can not say enough good things about this lodge. They have a philanthropy program and donate 5 BZD per night per room booked to a different program every month. They truly value their staff and the staff are just the hardest working and nicest people. Nothing! We wished we had more time to relax and take a couple more tours. It was absolutely perfect.
- Helene (9/5): Fantastiskt boende i en sagolik natur. - Läget mitt i fantastisk natur. Faciliteternas harmoni med naturen. Det vackra poolområdet. Lugnet och den trevliga personalen. Fantastisk frukost. Dyr mat och lite väl mörka rum.
- Nathan (10/5): Beautiful peaceful stay in the Belize jungle - Beautiful setting in the jungle, staff was extremely friendly, room was amazing one of my favorites ever.
- Jan (10/5): It was all around lovely - The pool was GREAT And the drinks at teh bar were too! We used the canoe and went across the river to the lodge and it too was wonderful! NOTHING!
- Lorraine (1/5): A most extreme example of website photos completely misrepresenting reality. A total rip off. - The facilities need much improvement including such basic things as room doors not closing fully or locking, no fridge and a complete absence of hanging or drawer space for clothes. The thatched roof of the tree house meant that everything including the bed sheets was permanently damp. Access is difficult and the isolated location allows the opportunity to charge exorbitant prices over twice as high as far superior competitor facilities nearby. The staff are poorly trained and have low service standards. Long overdue a total redevelopment and change of management.

- Kimberley (9/5): It’s a special place. - I loved the location next to the river and in the jungle. I was in room 10 and the quality of the room did not reflect the price I paid.
- Pamela (8/5): Excellent location and dining to experience nature and enjoy people connections - Beautiful, serene location and layout on a hill with walkways above the trees and excellent restaurant, food and service Casitas bathroom vanities a little worn out and could be refurbished

- Emily (7/5): Secluded, beautiful but expensive - Beautiful location amongst the forest which allowed us to see a lot of wildlife. Everyone working at Sweet Songs were lovely and very helpful. The pool area was very nice and felt secluded.
The AC in the room was very effective. We did not do the all inclusive option and found the dinners to be exceptionally expensive for the quality and quantity, it was about $50 USD pp for dinner. For the last night we bought food in town for about $10 pp.
The tours through the hotel were also quite expensive so would suggest to book through a travel company.
The rooms were on the slightly basic side but very clean.
Note that it’s about a 20 minute drive into San Ignacio which will cost ~$70 USD return for a taxi
- Francine (7/5): - Treehouses were very comfortable, and in general, very nice layout - the outdoor bath, and swing bed are great !
The food was good, no complaints on that end. Staff very helpful, all in all, this was a nice stay.
- esther (4/5): - More back to nature The food was over price only ate there one time 100 us dollars for a basic meal for three cheaper to go else where to eat.
