Guest Reviews
- DANIELA (10/5): -
- Barbosa (9/5): - The view and the kindness of the staff

- Kristina (10/5): A paradise on the stunning pacific coast - A small paradise! The tent is right on the vast and mostly empty beach between palm trees and comes with its own shower/toilet house. The garden is beautiful, the people extremely friendly and the food amazing. Thank you again! I can definitely recommend and will try to come back. Nothing really. If I had to say something it would be that a shelf or similar to store your things when you stay in the tent would be great but really, if you are only one person it doesn’t matter so much.
- Gabriel (10/5): - Staff is great, food is delicious, space is clean and nice, and the view towards the ocean is fantastic. Fully recommended.
- William (10/5): - Close to the town and front to the beach.. its perfect Maybe more fruit in the restaurant..

- Jonas (10/5): Paradies - Die Lage an einsamen wunderschönen Strand.
- Christina Barbara (10/5): A little paradise - Popochos Beach was super nice, the hotel is really well kept and clean. Hugo, Neila and the women who cook are really nice and help you with everthing you need. I enjoyed my stay there a lot. Nothing
- Rodolfo (10/5): -
- Estelle (10/5): - Amazing stay at Popochos Eco Lodge. Super nice staff. Located right on the beach, incredibly beautiful. Very quiet. Very good food. They also facilitate access to activities (whales watching / fishing / etc ). Perfect as a couple or as a family. I warmly recommend this place a bit off the village (you’ll have to take a 10 mins ride in loncha).
- Stephany (10/5): -
- Marina (10/5): - Todo.
Caffè e acqua potabile sempre a disposizione
- Rita (8/5): Highly recommend! Fantastic experience! - We had a wonderful time at Popochos. The staff is warm and friendly and helpful. When my husband was sunburned, they brought him aloe vera. (Watch out for the sun as there is no shade!) The location is outstanding. You're right on the oceanfront with miles of beach on either side and hardly anyone around except for the few other guests at Popochos. Hugo, the host, is lovely. He does his very best for the guests. He isn't always around but if you make a plan with him he's reliable, give or take 20 minutes. The facilities are basic but everything is very clean and everything works. There is a mosquito net around the bed, which is very helpful. You can't stop tiny lizards and spiders from coming into your room but that's part of being on the edge of the jungle right in the middle of nature. There is free coffee and water throughout the day. The food is the same menu for lunch and dinner every day but it's good and they give you plenty. You can hire a kayak for $50,000 COP. You can also take day trips to surrounding areas. The day trip to Utria was fun - you do a very short walk across a raised boardwalk through the mangroves (approx. 25 mins) and then go to Playa Blanca and finally the waterfall at Morromico. The walk to Panguí is great. Panguí is like another world, and the restaurant just slightly further on from there is beautiful. Be careful walking back in the afternoon past about 13:00 because the tide comes in a long way and the beach basically disappears! It's a fun adventure, though. Highly recommend Popochos!
- Loni (10/5): Outstanding. - Very friendly staff, accommodating, clean facilities. The manager Hugo was so kind and even helped me arrange tours for my stay. And the food was incredible! I couldn’t stay longer
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional - We had an absolutely amazing time at Popochos. The location is just 10min outside of Nuquí but it feels like you are in a remote nature paradise. The beach in front of the cabañas is several kilometers long and you barely see any other people there. The cabaña was very clean and the bed was the most comfortable one in our trip through Colombia so far. The food is tasty, the fruits organic from their own garden and we absolutely loved the free coffee and water. The tours we took were amazing and we even went fishing with Hugo and caught so many fish. We can recommend staying at popochos and we will definitely come back. But what really was outstanding was Hugo and Neila and their family. They were so kind and went above and beyond to assure that we would have a good time. They even organized a surf board for us! We honestly didn’t want to leave and felt like we had made new friends. Nothing :)
- Ata (10/5): Amazing place in the nature - The spot is perfect on a very quite beach. The room has everything you’d need like a balcony, hammock, and comfy bed. It is priceless waking up with the view and sound of the waves.. Hugo was quite helpful. At first we doubted if we should reserve close to Termales / Arusi area to reach attractions on foot, but overall here was much better option. There is no way to reach to Nuqui town by walking. But if you arrange it, Hugo will take you by his boat for 5-10K.
For reaching any attraction, you need to reserve a tour with a boat.
- Nina (10/5): Wonderful and relaxing stay in paradise with a great host. - Our room was directly at the beach with an amazing view. The host Hugo and his family were so nice and always available if we needed anything. The bed even had a mosquito net which was great for sleeping so we didn’t need to worry about any mosquitos. The food was delicious. I can only recommend staying at Popochos Beach.
- Luis (10/5): Amazing - Amazing place to relax. The staff is very kind and always willing to help. Perfect to run during the dawn. I would have liked to stay more time there!
- Rowan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Máté (10/5): Thank you for introducing us to this beautiful coast of the Pacific. We could really relax and escape from our busy live - Our room was on the sea front, you can sleep at the sound of waves. Our hosts, Hugo and Neila were very helpful, providing excellent service to all our needs. We were served big portions of delicious meals every day! Everything was perfect. Since this is an eco-lodge within pure nature, you can expect an authentic experience, if you’re up for the adventure.
- Nadine (9/5): Estephania, Hugo and team were excellent hosts, as they were willing to go above and beyond to ensure that our stay was - The location is exquisite, located on a long stretch of beach as the sole accommodation. The flora and fauna were gorgeous and the accommodations were very comfortable. N/a
- Myrthe (8/5): Delightful - The lodge is located at a beautiful beach close to Nuqui. It is clean, well-equiped and has a calming atmosphere. The host and its family are very kind people, who made us feel welcome and The host did not speak English, which made it a bit difficult to communicate sometimes. However, they did make it work with translate.
- Wilson (8/5): Very good -
- Bradley (10/5): Secluded Paradise - Amazing property. If you are looking for somewhere secluded but not to far from Nuqui this is perfect. The owners are amazing hosts who will make sure to give you all the right information. Hugo who works there made sure to help us as well. A perfect stay!
- Annamraju (8/5): Very good - Great location. Remote and private. The mangroves in the back were special as was the beach. The rooms were idyllic, the hosts were super responsive and helped change booking even flights got cancelled. They had a very easy payment system of Revolut cards. Tours were a bit unpredictable but interesting. The first day mangroves your needs a proper guide and kayak rather than a boat - wasn't worth it. The lunches on both tours we did were too late in the day and in locations that were perhaps not the best for tourists. Especially since we could have eaten at guachalito beach on the first tour. The lodge needs coffee availability for all just it made things very frustrating ti have to order food in from nuqui when the orders and Toni g were unpredictable.
- May (9/5): Offers higher comfort than other places - It is close to Nuqui (airport), so no expensive transfer needed. It is located directly at the Olímpica beach (which is not as clean as those further down at Termales - but nice nonetheless). The buildings are new, with spacious rooms and balconies, power sockets in the room, a nice bathroom. Around the buildings there is ample space to go on a short walk, see the home grown pineapples and other fruit. The hosts are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. I've only had ne meal there (vegetarian) which was very tasty. You get drinking water refills on demand.
I stayed at two other places - this one was the most "fancy" one. The site is partially still under construction - there is no communal space yet to hang out with other guests. But it's all in the built and once everything is finished, I'm sure it will be very nice.
- Louisa (9/5): Adventurous accommodation at the beach outside from Nuquí - - super friendly host, Estefania welcomed us at the pier, we got a coconut drink and she organised all the tours for us last minute
- she speaks a little bit English and German also :)
- the view is amazing! it’s quite and not many persons here, we saw whales from the beach in the evening
- we liked the outdoor bathroom with ocean view from the shower
- we were allowed to use the fridge because no one was using this accommodation and got two spoons and bowls for our selfmade breakfast
- liked the hammocks and the vibe around
Just DON’T book the TENT ;) - taking the boat at the evening is 20.000COP from Nuquí (two persons) and during the day 10.000COP
- the tent looks nice, eco friendly, romantic but it’s hot as hell inside even when you leave it open
- we couldn’t sleep at all because of the heat, the mattress is way to thin and not comfortable and a bit to small for two adults with the net around
- we felt every thunderclap during the blizzards at night and were super tired in the morning
- because there is space between the tent and the houses we didn’t feel comfortable the first night because strangers were around coming from the Nuquís party (but weird because there is nothing next to the ecolodge) and you have all your belongings next to the tent…
- wifi is not working around the tent and no reception at all with Tigo
- no water refill station what would be nice outside from Nuquí and good for an Eco-Lodge because than you don’t need to bring plastic bottles
- no kitchen and no lunch/ dinner option on Saturdays (and when we arrived Friday evening)
- Raquel (10/5): Serene beachfront getaway - The owners were most attentive and gracious. They would cut fresh coconuts for us and made sure we were taken care of. The food was delicious and the cook made us some vegan protein patties that were great. The room where we stayed was extremely serene. We went to bed to the sounds of the waves. This was a perfect place to disconnect and relax. Make sure you bring in snacks and water because there are no stores around the property and you need to get a water taxi to get to the closest town.
- Sophie (10/5): Exceptional - The food was really good, the bathroom and shower super clean! The hosts were always very friendly and helpful! We had the whole beach to ourselves, as there were no other Lodges on the beach. Stayed for 3 nights, which was perfect. It would be great if there were lockers available (but there were only 2 other couples staying there, so we weren't worried about our things). Also it would be great if water was included in the price or if there was an option to refill our water bottles. We talked about it with the owners and they said they would look into it :)
- Francois (10/5): Paradise! - This place is something special. Estefania and Giovanni went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. They offer services like homecooked meals, organizing your activities, and much more. We felt very much at home in our beautiful private apartment at Popochos. The lodges are just steps away from a gorgeous beach which you will have to yourself. Nuqui is already a dream but our stay at Popochos made it unforgettable. As an extra bonus, the hostel dog Rocky is always there to accompany you on some adventures if you wish! I wish they sold beer on site and that there was a better kitchen for the campers.

- Radu (10/5): Incredible place, great accommodation! - Wow, what an amazing place! Both the lodge and the area itself. It was way better and way less complicated and "rough" than I thought so I'll leave a detailed review. I flew to Nuqui from Medellin EOH in 30 min with Clic air/ex-EasyFly (which I recommend, they have new ATRs, bigger planes than others flying here which is helpful if you get turbulence along the way). Flights were on time both ways. After you pay the Nuqui entrance tax, you turn slightly left and then right and walk 2-300 meters to the tourist port/muelle turístico. Claro and Tigo have coverage here but if you have another Colombian SIM you are covered too due to Roaming Automático Nacional (I got H+ speeds with my SIM from WOM, not sure if having a SIM from Claro gets you 4G or the same; speed was enough for browsing and posting pics, don't think it works for video call). Previously you would have messaged the host (on wapp) who sends a boat/lancha to pick you up. 2-3$ and 10 min later (this trips itself is nice) you are at the lodge. The tent I had was right by the beach and the area had hammocks and a comunal, new and clean, bathroom/shower area. Shower water is not hot but not cold either, it feels fresh. You can buy food, drinks, water, coconut etc from the host, very affordable. This stretch of beach can be reached only by boat and the accommodation is the only one in the area so you'll have kms of beach by yourself (+ crabs/cangrejos haha). It's very easy to travel to Nuqui, the lancha that got you here can be called for you by the host (Niqui has more places to eat, grocery stores, pharmacy etc so no need to overplan things like I did haha; host can help you to even get food delivery from Nuqui!). The whale watching tour that the host booked for me was very nice too and not only it includes whale (and dolphins!) watching but it also goes to a nice, more populated beach area and to Termales. - sand, from the beach, gets everywhere if you're not careful. And I think it has some metalic elements in it because it got stuck to my magnetic charger.
- Vanessa (10/5): 2nd home in paradise - sometimes when you are travelling you meet people and get to know places that just allow you to have this amazing feeling of home instantly. estefanía and giovanni are masters at creating this feeling. from the first phonecall on you could feel the warmth and the kindness they carry in their hearts. the beach and surroundings are just absoutely stunning and breathtaking and the level of effort they put into the project is amazing. instead of 2 nights we ended up staying for 6. we will definitely come
back to this wonderful place and these even more wonderful people as soon as we can ! highly recommended. much love nía and gio from david and vanessa 💓 you will always have a home in vienna that we hat to leave at some point :(
- Boris (10/5): Exceptional - Stephania is a very kind person. She helped us to organise the rest of our journey in the Chocó.
+ The food is excellent!
¡Best value for money in columbia so far!
