Guest Reviews
- David (9/5): Graceful boutique hotel, beautifully furnished and maintained. Lovely continental breakfast - Beautifully maintained and furnished Difficult check-in and no robes
- Duncan (10/5): - So great to be back! Beautiful views, lovely relaxed atmosphere and the breakfast! Always feel so nice to stay here, absolutely recommend, what an amazing place!
- Susanne (10/5): A step back into the time of luxury. - The “room” was an apartment with a great kitchen, and coffee machine. Spacious lounge, lovely entry/hallway and modern ensuite in the bedroom. The view was so pretty of the boats, casino and water. Just a short walk away is Hampden Road, with all the many restaurants. A bit further, and you drop down into Salamanca and shops. Continental breakfast included. Outdoor seats in a quiet garden, if the weather is kind. All of Battery Point is tight for car parks, and a permit was provided for this. Smaller cars are a better option if spending much time in this location. I would have preferred to have a blanket as an option for the doona. Even with no heating on in the bedroom, I find a doona too warm.
- Julie (10/5): - Great location, friendly and helpful staff, beautiful building, the rooms are gorgeous and the views are magnificent. I can’t fault it.
- Bernardus Maria (9/5): EXCELLENT and thank you Ricardo for making our stay special. - Everything was great, the room, the view and location, we stayed in the Charles Fox Room on the 1st Floor. We also like to say thank you to Ricardo, who was an excellent host and was very helpful with the excellent breakfasts in the morning and also helped us with our luggage. Highly recommended! Can not think of anything, we very much liked our stay!
- Cameron (9/5): -
- Nancye (10/5): A beautifully designed, luxurious Hobart stay with incredible views and I’ll definitely be back. - An exceptionally renovated and beautifully organised hotel. Everything feels thoughtful, luxurious and immaculately clean, like stepping into a Vogue magazine shoot. The breakfast kitchen setup is outstanding and incredibly well organised. The bathrooms are beautiful, the whole property smells fresh and inviting, and the views across the water, surrounding suburbs and Mt Wellington are spectacular. Clearly a great deal of care has gone into this place. Well done to everyone involved.

Our room was very spacious and lovely, and it was so charming overlooking the water. The staff and owner were so helpful and nice, and they really mad our stay feel special.
- Danny (10/5): An exception holiday experience in Hobart. - This is a beautiful property that is impeccably run by the owners. The rooms are gorgeous and the service is outstanding. Attention to detail is evident throughout the house but also in the fantastically friendly and welcoming atmosphere, created in large part by Ricardo, whose helpfulness overall and breakfast assistance is amazing. This is a quality holiday experience and we are very grateful to have stayed 3 nights at the Grande Vue. The added bonus of having our luggage stowed for our later pickup, as well as the use of the common areas whilst we waited is an uncommon bonus and just shows how much the Grande Vue values service and hospitality. We can't wait to come back😀 Nil

- Emily (10/5): We stayed 18 years ago, we will make sure we return far more often. - The views, the apartment, and the staff. Everything was so organised and made for comfort from details about accessing our room to fresh baked afternoon tea to scrumptious help yourself breakfast each morning.
- Angelika (10/5): Ein Hoteljuwel!
- April (10/5): Best view from our room. - We stayed 4 nights too short…the house was lovely and we appreciated the owner’s attention to detail. The espresso machine was amazing! Ricardo, the manager was informative, personable and knowledgeable about Hobart, plus he’s a fantastic baker. It was a treat Each night. We didn’t want to leave and definitely will return the next time we visit hobart.
- Rose (10/5): Wonderful hotel. Hope to be back! - Grand Vue Hotel is one of our favourite hotels we’ve ever stayed in! The hotel itself is beautiful and in a great location. The free breakfast was such a nice touch and the coffee/ tea/ cake/ biscuits available 24/7 were an extra treat we really appreciated. We were able to check in early and leave our bags after check out prior to a late flight. Will definitely stay again next time we’re in Hobart. Nothing - everything was great!

Lovely for weary travelers.

- Ian (10/5): Brilliant! - Staying at the Grande Vue takes visiting Battery Point to a whole other level. Sumptuous comfort, beautiful rooms, wonderful views, so friendly staff, and rich attention to detail. It is very special. We enjoyed the house baked cake, a daily treat for guests, the delicious light breakfast, and views of the Derwent and the Mount from the Garden Terrace. The overall ambience is tranquil splendid. We had fine views of sunrise from our room, the Knopwood. We glimpsed other rooms and all look splendid. Battery Point has so much of interest and fine restaurants and eateries. The rest of Hobart is just a walk away. We very much look forward to making a return visit. Many thanks!

- Julie (10/5): A beautiful hotel in an amazing location! Quiet and lovely! - The hotel is beautiful and in a wonderful location. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was equipped with everything I needed. The fact that the kitchen was open and provided some snacks and supplies was extremely helpful as one night I came back to the hotel late, tired, and hungry. I was able to grab some yogurt and muesli from the kitchen and it was a lifesaver! There was nothing I didn't like! Even finding street parking was easy and the fact that you could get your key from a lockbox was convenient.
- Anna (10/5): Excellent stay - Stunning views from the dining room overlooking the harbour Nothing
- Sandra (10/5): -
- Jennifer (9/5): If I ever go back to Hobart I will stay there for sure! - It was like staying at a thoughtful friend’s beautiful home. The staff were welcoming and helpful, even made a dinner reservation for us.
- Jacqueline (10/5): Gorgeous building, stunning views and excellent location! - Our room was amazing. We had an upstairs 2 bedroom suite with spectacular views of the garden, the water and the boats.
We loved that we could go downstairs and help ourselves to sweet treats at any time and breakfast items.
We loved the decor and style of the property and the location in. Battery Point was excellent.

- Lucy (10/5): Enjoyed our short break away - Fabulous old home, in a great location, with warm and friendly people who balance hospitality with the privacy of their guests. It’s expensive at around Christmas time, which is not uncommon in Hobart and Tasmania. We would have stayed longer if the price was a little lower.
- Dianne (9/5): Great guest house - Very clean and comfortable rooms. Serene water and mountain views. Beautiful furniture and heritage building. Staff, who we never saw, were helpful by text messages.
- Matthew (10/5): Excellent - What’s not to like!
- Julie (10/5): Above & beyond creature comforts with warmth & grace - The property was warm and inviting. We loved the beautiful and kept property from the moment we walked up to it. Everything is perfect with attention to detail down to the smallest of items. We loved the above and beyond creature comforts that made this stay even more comfortable, including an espresso maker, fresh cookies and a homemade almond cake. Perfect location for a casual stroll, admiring other Victorian-esque homes and stunning water views in the beautiful Battery Pointe neighborhood with several coffee shops within a few blocks and the Salamanca market within a 10 minute walk. The view from the colored, glass pans was surreal. The bed was very comfortable and conducive to a fantastic night’s sleep. Property is the perfect size with under 10 rooms which allows for an intimate and personal staycation. Whether focused on admin work, sightseeing, or an intimate affair, the Grande Vue is your home away from home. The owner, Ash, helps in all ways possible. For us, he helped turned a disastrous start to a Tasmanian adventure with lost luggage that was later coupled with a medical emergency into a cozy and relaxing environment where we could conquers challenges in a relaxed way. Can’t say enough about our stay here. Looking forward to staying here again when we come back to complete our Tassie adventure. N/A
- Victoria (10/5): Would stay again at this hotel in a heartbeat. - Absolutely everything!! The attention to detail throughout the whole house + gardens, the room, the location, the service, the baked goods + accessibility to the kitchen 24/7. Nothing at all.

- Kat (10/5): W9nderful stay - The view! But the whole hotel was wonderful. Felt well taken care of and breakfast provided was lovely. The cakes in the afternoon wefe a lovely treat, but you had to be quick otherwise they were all gone! A bit of a funny smell in the bathroom - most likely from the spa bath as there were just a couple of metal covers missing so some water may have been stuck in the pipes.
- Anne (10/5): I would highly recommend Grande Vue. - Rooms are spacious and very comfortable with amazing views. Breakfast is outstanding and the cakes that are available at any time of day are delicious. Battery point has many cafes and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Ash and Riccardo do a wonderful job of running this hotel. We have stayed at this hotel about six times and it never disappoints.
- Jodi (9/5): Gorgeous property with a lovely host. Enjoyed our stay. - Wonderful host. Gorgeous interior. Generous supplies in kitchen. Beautiful views. Comfy beds. Street parking was a little hard at times.

- Joanna (9/5): Wonderful- dont stay anywhere else in hobart - Location, comfort Nothing
- Susan (10/5): - We loved the location, the view, the reading material, the building, facilities, and the amazing food. The staff we met were lovely. Also the Mr Smith lotions were a treat. I found our room quite stuffy ( I need fresh air to sleep well) and didn't feel secure to leave the window open at night as we were on the ground floor.
The handle on the bedside table kept falling off (minor detail).
- Sue-Anne (9/5): Beautiful hotel in Battery Point. - Lovely Queen Anne style house, comfortable sitting rooms and kitchen for guest use for breakfast (supplied). Delicious home made treats baked for afternoon tea by the hosts. Walking distance to great cafes and restaurants and Salamanca markets.

We spent all our time exploring the island and came back to our hotel to spend time in the room (I think it was the best room in the hotel and special thanks for that!), in the lobby, in the hall, on the lawn behind the hotel. Every place was just magical.
Fully equipped kitchen, tasty continental breakfast and exquisite cake everyday during the day.
Quick stable internet and any place in the hotel. Nothing to complain about
