Guest Reviews
- Sam Taylor-Nobbs (10/5): - Everything including pub across the road !! Nothing
- Saqer (4/5): I didn’t like it which led me to shorten my vacation and leave. - It was clean. In photos it seems a large apartment but in reality not. The floors make noise when walking. There was only one toilet. The price is too high for the apartment as compared to previously other apartments I stayed in before near the centre of Amsterdam. I’m 186 cm tall and I kept hitting my head on the ceiling many times because it’s so low.
- Katia (1/5): Misery - Great location. Old traditional house living experience. The rest is miserable. Arrived late evening - the house was clean but the second bed was not done. We found it without sheets, pillows and blanket were messed up on bed. Kitchen DIDN’T have: regular or paper towels, coffee capsules, tea bags and there was a single (!) fork.
I reached out the owner - she sent us a cleaner. Thank god she came. The owner was not really friendly or helpful, replied with a delay.
Only 2 bath towels per person (5 nights stay) had brown and black stains (mold) and a smell. I was given more upon request.
The bed sheets were okay, but had a worn look and could smell better.
The house itself is an old traditional house with a lovely vintage vibe and with lots of weird things: the master bedroom is in the semi-basement (no daylight, humidity and cold). Shower and toilet are down there too (toilet has a secret door that leads to the basement and a moldy smell comes from there).
The wooden stairs in the house separate the entrance zone from the living room/kitchen/second bedroom. These stairs are not suitable for kids nor old people! If you’re drunk/stoned/tired/cant see properly because of the poor lightning in the house - you will most likely fall from the stairs.
The kitchen is huge but there’s no stove, only microwave. And only one fork!
No tv in the living room. The windows DO NOT open! The heating seriously heats up the upper bedroom while in the semi-basement one it’s still cold.
I had to buy: paper tissue, coffee capsules, tea, sugar, small garbage bags (for bath bins) - all bnb’s have this, but not here.
Thank god they had liquid soap/shampoo.
I bought an umbrella and left it there (for the next guests that might need it)
The location is central but the next door bar is too noisy especially weekends.
The upstairs neighbours were extremely noisy (had parties) and in this old house you can hear every thing!
I paid 2000 euros. Too overpriced for the misery i had to deal with.
- Jacqui (9/5): Wonderful, quirky house in a great area. Highly recommended. - Jordaan is such a lovely place to stay when visiting Amsterdam. Lots of nice bars and restaurants and interesting streets to meander around, close to many attractions but well away from all the touristy hubbub. The house was wonderful but it would have been nice if there was a welcome pack of, say, a pint of milk and some biscuits, considering the high price of the accommodation. Supermarkets are few and far between in Amsterdam! You must be able to navigate stairs as steep as step ladders! Really fun, but not for the feint-hearted!
- Jane (8/5): Lovely place in a lovely location with very accommodating hosts - Beautiful little apartment (house really) loads of history and lots of lovely features, perfect location. A little bit of noise from the neighbours upstairs but when I asked to be quiet they were immediately also quite noisy from the pub next door but all quiet after about 11 pm.
Not great for guests with disabilities.
- Robert (10/5): Fantastic. - Location great. Quiet friendly bar next door for pre drinks. Clean and modern feel. Basement a bit cold. Neighbours creaking about floorboards upstairs.
