Guest Reviews
- Rachel (8/5): Cute bungalows in a jungle-like setting next to the river. - Cute little bungalows. Lovely property. The kids loved roaming around looking for animals. Good breakfast. No hot water in the showers. One of the fans in the room did not work.
- Alice (6/5): Disappointed! I wish I'd paid a little more and stayed down the road at Lamani Landing. - The room was clean and the air conditioner was great. Nice having the mosquito netting. No additional amenities. No drinking water, no hot pot. The lighting is either institutional or one very small lamp. There isn't any where to gather. If you just want to sleep it is fine.
There was a feedlot smell when you were outside.
Also listing says complimentary breakfast, the restaurant on the road was closed Sunday and we were told we were not supposed to get the breakfast. So went down the road to Lamani Landing.
- David (5/5): -
- Kate (7/5): - The room was spacious and beds comfy. The staff were very friendly. Great to have breakfast included and it was tasty. The shower was a bit temperamental. It took a while for the breakfast to be made and we had an early morning tour booked. The location is a little awkward if you dont have your own transport, e.g. for somewhere to eat in the evening and buying water.
- GeoJef (10/5): Enthusiastic receptionist. Amazing place. Comfortable, quiet, clean. - I enjoyed the enthusiasm of the receptionist, Travis.
The place is amazing, a park connected to a ranch of 1200 water buffalos. There is an avcess to a river where apperently there are crocodiles. I just saw a big iguana.
Big room, comfortable bed, nice bathroom with warm water.
I enjoyed also the breakfast, from about 8 different types, I choosed the "belizien breakfast".
- Katja (10/5): Perfect get away in the middle of the jungle - In the middle of the jungle, just a 1 minute walk down to the river, very spacious room and comfortable bed. The staff was above and beyond. Travis at the reception is such a knowledgeable, friendly, caring and funny guy. He gave us all the information we needed to make our stay unforgettable. He’s one of a kind and we are truly happy that we’ve met him and stayed at the Mayan garden. Make sure to do the Lamanai river boat trip to the Mayan temples. The breakfast is also super delicious and John makes the best juices from scratch. Super friendly guy and great options for vegetarians. We can highly recommend staying at the Mayan garden. Thanks for everything!
- JonatasPSilva (9/5): A peaceful jungle-like escape with great service and a beautiful atmosphere. - The hotel truly feels like a real Maya garden—almost like stepping into a peaceful jungle. The property is beautiful, and the cottages have a charming touch of nature that makes the stay unique. Everything was very clean and well kept. The staff went above and beyond in every way. Highly recommend! It’s honestly hard to point out anything negative. It would be nice to see a swimming pool or a few more amenities in the future, but after learning that the property suffered a major fire three years ago, I completely understand they are still rebuilding and developing. So there isn’t much to add here.
- richard (8/5): Nice grounds and rustic. - Helpful staff, spacious room. Comfortable but dark which gives a dreary feel. Smelling local refinery not pleasant
- Beatrix (9/5): -
- felicia (5/5): It was ok not the best no hot water - Nothing really Everything
- Alexis (8/5): - The bed was wonderful with mosquitos nets The shower head was clogged.
- Martina (10/5): - Alles Top, grosse zimmer, freundlicher Empfang, tolles Frühstück. Wir kommen gerne wieder!
- Lorenzo (10/5): - The owner was super helpful
- Chulin (7/5): - We did not have breakfast, location is great, Not far from town, very quiet and peaceful. Was dark walking towards the cabana, shower was cold only and it seemed to have been clogged since water accumulated on the floor while showering.
- Mathilde (9/5): -
- Melvin (7/5): -
- Dioné (8/5): Mayan gardens to Lamanai - I had a good stay at the Mayan Garden. It was the perfect place to go to Lamanai which was an awesome day trip with Lamanai River tours. The guide was amazing and gave us a really informative and fun day. Lamanai is well worth the visit, accessed by boat and tucked away in the jungle. Mayan gardens breakfasts were great. The showers are hot although the temp fluctuates, they are a nice, decent hot shower. The windows are boarded up so you can't relax and enjoy the beautiful gardens through the windows of the bungalow.
- Pasciento (9/5): Overnight - I didn't like that my booking wasn't what I wanted but the hostess he was great. He communicated throughout our stay and it turns out to be a great It was a rainy 🌧 stay and the bathroom was too small. The entrance to the door are built for small people not a 6ft like my self
- Franciska (10/5): Exceptional - The property manager Asiel went above and beyond to help us! The room was clean, the AC was cold, and the shower was hot! The mosquito nets were not necessary as we had NO flying bug issues! We enjoyed listening to the birds and seeing lizards and leaf cutter ants. Great location for where we needed to be. Enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the restaurant near the front of the resort. Since the fire last year they are still recovering, so the grounds aren't as picture perfect as the photos show! But, they are working hard to restore what was lost!! Beds are really firm, but that is the norm in Belize so I wasn't surprised
- Bethany (8/5): Very good - Accommodating, considerate and friendly staff.
Pretty room.
Exceedingly comfortable bed.
Couldn't have wished for a better night's sleep.
- Jairo (7/5): Good - No Lights on the walk way. Mini refrigerator and a TV.
- Hanna (6/5): Not what I expected - The site was beautiful and big.
Its nice that they can organize tours The site and rooms need maintenance
There is no yoga studio, the restaurant in the front is very basic and not nice for vegetarians
The mattress is very thin.
You are in the middle of nowhere and the taxi fee to go in to town is 15/20 BZD , so around 7USD for one way. That's quite expensive for a 10Min ride.
- Borland (7/5): Good -
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Theresa (7/5): Good - The location was good for a driving day trip to Lamanai without having to drive back to Belize City. It's about half way between the two. The place will be amazing once the facilities destroyed in a fire are rebuilt. The grounds are well maintained and the staff was attentive even going into town for us to get beer for the room. The bugs but it's in the jungle, so it's not their fault.
- Meghan (10/5): Perfect - We were blessed that this property was available to us when our flights had been cancelled due to Tropical Storm Sara.
- Cherriemae (7/5): Scenery was nice but very disappointed - It’s real beautiful Few things… the smell, low pressure water in our cabana, toilet back up and the biggest disappointment was the pool, We choose there mostly because of the pool, we had our grand babies with us and wanted to show them a good time before leaving back to the U.S….its was the day before I got an email about it which I didn’t see for we rented this place way before and we had to stay cause it was a big holiday and every where else was booked up…. And also we did not even get a discount, was still charged full price
- Pastora (2/5): Very poor - My stay was Cancel
- Timothy (6/5): It was a good location and comfortable. - Location was perfect. The room smelled slightly musky but that’s possibly because of limited ventilation and the thatch.
- Sarah (6/5): Great staff, but not as advertised. - Staff were very helpful & friendly
Beds were comfortable & clean, good quality mosquito nets.
Powerful shower.
Organised a great river boat tour to Lamanai No on site restaurant as advertised, there is a burger bar at the edge of the road.
The photographs on booking.com are no representative of the reality. The cabana is quite dark & in need of updating.
We also didn’t realise the property is part of a beef farm, marketing suggests ‘Mayan Garden’ is of a more ethical nature.
- Heather (5/5): Nice looking rooms, but soooo many bugs. - The beds and bedding were very comfortable, and the mosquito nets actually fit the beds. It was neat that the key card also operates the power in the room. The rooms themselves looked very nice, and the shutters kept the room very dark in the morning. First, there’s nothing labeling the property-I only knew we were there when I recognized the cabanas from the pictures. And if I hadn’t called, I wouldn’t have had any idea where or how to check in. Better communication before the visit would have been nice-something with instructions on where and how to check in when we arrived.
The toilet never flushed right, even after they tried to fix it. The “hot” water was barely warm. If I turned on the cold water, then the hot water was non-existent. It would have been nice to have a trash can in the main room, and not just the one in the bathroom. I understand having crickets and spiders (we killed a couple of each), as this place is so close to forests, but we also had to remove about 30 millipedes from the room throughout our one-night stay. They were everywhere. I know they’re harmless, but it kind of grossed us out and made us glad we were only staying one night.
