Guest Reviews
- Anne (10/5): Great location for our purpose at Eaglehawk Neck with outstanding bath; very well set up with gadgets. - Great location for exploring the Peninsula; quiet, easy to find and picturesque yard
- Amy (10/5): Fantastic - Beautifully appointed and one of the most comfortable beds we’ve ever slept in! N/A
- Jamie (8/5): Lovely area & location - Very quiet & a beautiful outlook Needs new Digital Tv antenna fitted & channels tuned in, bed arrangement needs changing to normal floor access pls? a DVD player would be nice
- Ian (9/5): Wonderful two days. Great base to explore Tasman Pen. - Quiet country setting with wildlife (wallabies) in yard. Great kitchen facilities Strange elevated bed arrangement. Very akward getting in and out. Unnecessary since lots of unused space in room.
- Tracey (10/5): A great little getaway for a break - The location was good,Not far from Port Arthur and surrounding places of interest. Small shop at Port Arthur to get some milk. Nothing,It was all good we enjoyed it very much.
- Tania (10/5): Perfectly private weekend escape. Will be back. - Spacious, spotlessly clean & lovely & private. Had everything we needed to cook/ drink & relax. Loved the bath house which opens up onto the gorgeous garden. Bed very comfy.
Spent lots of time on the back deck just enjoying the tranquility, fairy wrens & potoroos. ❤️ Nothing comes to mind
- Jane (10/5): Lovely house - Great house - excellent kitchen with huge fridge. Also some kitchen essentials provided (oil, a few spices etc) The lock on the back door for entrance was really stiff - I couldn't turn it - I had to get my other half to do it. The bed is elevated on a platform with storage underneath - you have to climb up stairs to access it - it was ok, but not so good for getting up to use the loo in the night, although there is a movement sensitive light that comes on.
- Debra (8/5): Lovely accommodation and very helpful host! - Host had thought of everything. Lots of great touches to make our stay enjoyable. The bed was tricky! You have to climb over your partner to get out of bed and down the stairs.
- Genevieve (10/5): Cute little place that had everything you need so many places to go close by. - Cute little place Was hard getting into bed
- Michelle (10/5): Excellent base for Tasman peninsula - Beautifully presented. Everything needed for a comfortable stay. Bath was super relaxing. Easy check in and out
- Sharon (9/5): Terrific private accommodation centrally placed in Eaglehawk Neck - Cosy, private residence, easy access, off street parking; delightful bathhouse & well-equipped kitchen Difficulty with bedside lights
- B.M. (10/5): Top - Alles Niets
- Caitlin (9/5): -
- Janan (10/5): - A bit silly but I got really excited about the loft bed! Also a lovely garden attracting many animals. Looking forward to trying the bathhouse next time ^_^ Had an argument with the blinds but once we found the instructions all was well!
- Kelsey (10/5): Beautiful little getaway spot, perfect for relaxation. - Loved the location and how cozy the house was. The bath house was a beautiful touch and I loved getting to see all the wildlife in the area.
- Phil (6/5): Did the job but could be better. - Clean, warm and convenient. The accommodation has the name “The Nest” for good reason. The owners have chosen to put a double bed up on top of a large built in set of draws and wardrobes. Access to the bed is via a narrow set of timber stairs that fortunately include a night light that automatically turns on the light the stairs. Once at the top of the stair one needs to crawl across the bed to settle in for a sleep. Fortunately once in bed it’s comfortable and warm. The real issue comes when you have to go to the loo. It becomes necessary to again crawl across to the end of the bed and to navigate onto the stair…. hopefully without waking your better half.
Also, the tv reception is limited to a select few channels and Netflix etc isn’t available. I tried screen mirroring but again this wasn’t available.
So in summary, the stay is a good place and has everything one could need but…. The namesake “nest” is an unfortunate downer. I’d suggest the owners do themselves and following guests a favour and remove the built in, provide a nice comfortable Queen-size bed and thus open up the stay to a wider patronage.
- Isabel (10/5): - The whole space was so lovely and the bath house was an extra special bonus! Perfect after big hiking days!
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - The place was large and modern with heaters and aircon units to keep it warm. The bath tube was really nice and bath salts provided. It was nice watching the Pademelon bouncing around the back yard. A couple of things needed a little bit more cleaning.
- Nick (10/5): Very cozy and unique, perfect for a winters getaway - Atmosphere, the bath, the unique loft postioning, very cozy and homely 2 towels for 3 days, very understandable about the eco friendly environment. But with an amazing bath and shower, 2 towels for 2 people over 3 days just wasn’t functional
- Kevin (9/5): Superb -
- Oenone (9/5): Fabulous comfortable place to retreat and relax or go exploring the Tasman Peninsula. - Great location. Excellent kitchen facilities. Lovely decks. Beautifully decorated. Adequate basic food supplies. You have to be alert and agile to get in and out of the mezzanine bed. It was cosy.
Make sure you buy what you need for all meals because there are no shops close by.
- Barry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (9/5): It was a pefect base to explore the Tasman Peninsular and hike in the National Park trails. - The location was beautiful and peaceful . There was no WIFI which was actually a bonus in the long run !
- Janet (10/5): Great location and super cozy. Shower nice. Bed comfortable. Setting lovely. Coffee, tea and condiments were a bonus! Ni - So much care and thought was put into The Nest. Really creative and very comfortable.
- C (9/5): NO WIFI and ALMOST NO MOBILE coverage other than Telstra(and related) network otherwise maybe 10/10 - + Really clean for a place out at Eaglehawk Neck
+ Close to all the attractions on the nothern end Tasman National Park, not too far drive to Port Arthur (like 30minutes?)
+ House felt homely and very comfortable, a few heaters, great amenities (all cooking as well as some pantry items, even hot chocolate hahahaha)
+ Washing machine and dishdryer
+ Comfortable bathroom, including amenities (even first aid box!)
+ Sally is a great host, very caring and easy to communicate with
+ Lots of instructions and information on the property
+ Loft bed made it warm and cosy, it does come with a side bar thing so you don't need to worry about falling off! - Unfortunately the only thing is NO WIFI (this really should be advertised and be upfront about this day and age but nope I can't say I noticed it at all upon booking). Also because Tasmania is a bit of a wilderness outside main cities many people would find absolute limited mobile reception coverage a vast amounts of the state (especially if not on the Telstra or its related networks). Making it very hard and difficult for many to stay or communicate with the host upon arrival.
- The area around the roof of the loft bed feels a bit bare, and if you're afraid of bugs a little creepy but didn't see anything thankfully!
- Rob (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional - Great location close to the sites It was all good
- Kathy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brayden (10/5): A little peace of paradise - Location, felt like home, was very well thought about/ put together Pretty garden
- Ramani (8/5): Lovely stay at the Nest! - Great setting. Eaglehawk neck is a very special place. Easy access to the main sites and Port Arthur. Lovely garden with amazing wildlife to watch. Honeyeaters, rabbits and pademelons - 6 on one evening. Well equipped kitchen, comfy lounge, great dining area to watch the wildlife show outside.
Sally was also very accommodating and let us drop our bags early so we didn't have to leave them in the car at Port Arthur. Bed is comfy but up narrow steps and would be tricky to get in and out of of you weren't very mobile. If that's not a problem then it's fun to be elevated in your 'nest'. It was pretty cold when we arrived but the 2 electric heaters do warm the place up.
- Belinda (8/5): Very good -
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional - Fully self contained and perfect location. Everything you need to spend a quiet couple of days relaxing or exploring
- Sophie (9/5): Great -
- Bernard (10/5): Peaceful and relaxing - The location, layout, comfortable, clean and the wallabies at the back porch
- Georgina (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely garden setting with wildlife. Very private. Near beautiful beaches. Very comfortable, lots of natural light, very peaceful. The bed was very comfortable but a bit awkward to get to. I think it would be better just as a normal bedroom.
- Sue (8/5): Comfortable and convenient -
- Rosie (9/5): We will be back - Good location and price Great to access lots of fun adventures on the Peninsula
- Jo (10/5): Exceptional - We loved everything about this property. Would have loved to of stayed longer. Hopefully next time
Thank you Sally
- Mark (10/5): Loved our stay, location was perfect and it was a lovely house to relax in - location was great, rear deck and table perfect
- Sharee (10/5): We had a lovely time would definitely book again - Secluded, quiet, private More towels, no face washer
- Sally (9/5): Superb - Loved the sunny back deck and backyard with pademelons grazing. Elevated bed was a little difficult for us over 60s and tall man.
- Rosalind (10/5): We had a fantastic stay at The Nest with it’s location so handy to everywhere we wished to visit and the house was cosy - The location, it had everything we needed, it was comfortable and we loved watching the paddy melons in the yard. Nothing
- Cheri (10/5): The best ever holiday - Just a charming home, peaceful and so so comfortable. Loved the garden and the surroundings. I could not have fault it. Thank you for sharing your home with me. N/A
- David (9/5): Superb - The house was very well stocked with all the little basics of food (oils, sauces etc) and implements you might need--much appreciated. And I loved watching the pademelon family in the garden.
It was very easy to access the keys in a lock box . . . . but the box was on a timer and I arrived earlier than expected. Although the house was cleaned and ready I could not get in to store my food in the fridge.
And I was not happy about there being no Wifi--surely as necessary today as water or power?! I was told they use their phone hotspot but we do not have good data plans and I soon ran out.
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Suzanne (9/5): Wonderful - It was quite and the local wildlife was very welcoming if not to sure about us. There was nothing wrong with the house. We had trouble with one of the heaters but it didn’t bother us.
- Fiona (8/5): Very good - Loved the natural surrounds and location.
The house itself was very comfortable and clean with all that we required to enjoy our stay. Had a great time. The bed....an elevated bed was not ideal. It was very restrictive in terms of not waking up the other person when needing the bathroom etc, and had we'd mobility issues it would not have worked (could not find it flagged anywhwere as a potential hurdle for anyone with mobility issues). Also didn't have a working lamp near the bed.
- Bronwyn (10/5): Exceptional - The place was beautiful and the host very patient. Couldn't work the stand alone heater (prob just dumb)
The light switch for the bedroom was difficult to find in the dark as its way into the room.
The loft bed would be very difficult for some folks to get in and out of.
- Graeme (9/5): Brilliant - everything nothing
- Anonymous (10/5): Very comfortable and relaxing! - Very cosy, clean and nicely decorated. Mosquitoes at night were frustrating. Not sure how they were getting inside but Sally provided mosquito repellent in the bathroom, which was very helpful.
- Brendon (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great. Comfortable with all the little extras to make it homely. Beautiful backyard. Great decks. Awesome spot. Nothing.
- Daniel (10/5): a perfect property for a couple to stay in whilst exploring one of the most beautiful parts of Tasmania - perfect location for exploring the area the property was ideal
