Guest Reviews
- John Paul (8/5): it was good but better to have a late tradee to fix any problems to the unit 24/7 - easy access in tram and stores when my unit got issue about gas which is i dont have a heat water and cannot use my stove for cooking as well for 1 day. i do suggest to have a late on call plumber to facilitate that issue for the convenience of the person that staying on that unit.
- Harjot (7/5): -
- Chelsea (1/5): - There was mould all through the property. My partner is highly allergic. We contacted the owner and was moved straight away. Great spot. Nice and clean for the most part.
- rigby (8/5): Ok - Is was ok Nothing
- Annabel (10/5): - A fantastic place to stay, very calm and relaxing, incredibly convenient - close to shops, public transport and a magnificent park (Alma Park) ...
Easy to get anywhere at all, the CBD, the beach, etc
Great set up, small kitchen was excellent, very, very cosy and cheerful
- Tony (5/5): Brilliant marketing of a barely adequate apartment - It was located exactly where they said it was. Everything you see on Booking.com is better than what you will see when you get there. The photos make it seem like a beautifully presented inner-city apartment. The reality is much older, dirtier, and dingier. The carpet is old, the paintwork is old, the appliances are dated, the bathroom was designed in the 1980s, parking spaces are limited and a very tight fit (larger cars would be a nightmare to fit through the narrow gate and into the tiny parking spaces). And it is very noisy.
But the worst part of staying here is the requirement that you upload a photo of your ID into their "verification system". In the fine print at the bottom of this listing, they say you need to complete an online form before you check in. What they don't tell you is that the "form" requires you to upload a photo of your driver's licence or passport, and that information is being read and analysed by an AI system for marketing and profiling purposes.
If you have to book here (honestly, there are better places around), then I strongly suggest you refuse to do this step. If you argue the point, they will accept a photo sent via email with key identifying information removed (I blanked out my address, licence number and signature). DO NOT LOAD YOUR ID INTO THEIR ONLINE SYSTEM. The property says they don't keep this information, but if you read the privacy policy of the verification system (I did), it states that this information will be used to create a profile of your spending habits and other online behaviours, and they will keep this information long after your stay.
Do not put your privacy at risk by uploading your photo ID to an AI system that will use this information to track you.
Better still, stay somewhere nicer. This place is drab and unpleasant.
- Ailish (4/5): Small and not well maintained, hidden fees, but ok for a short stay. - Comfy bed, good location, nice eco friendly products available to use Pets don’t stay free - they take an $100 cleaning fee despite saying free on booking.com and they take an $200 deposit on top of what you have paid for potential damages for ALL bookings. Apartment building gate was broken, so apartments were fully accessible to anyone on the street. There was mould in the bathroom, product build up on the floor of the shower, the bedroom door handle was completely out of the door meaning it couldn’t be shut, the windows were mouldy, and the gas oven didn’t have a fan so cooking was only possible via the grill setting. Bathroom is tiny and there was no place to hang more than one hand towel so bath towels never dry and you’ll constantly be throwing them in the dryer or using the clothes horse. Wifi was very poor quality and had to keep exiting and entering movies on the tv. Not as the photos, as they only show the corner apartments (which is unlikely to be the one booked). UK company with a Sydney office that are very hard to get a hold of if you have any issues.
- Guzel (7/5): - The location is quite well connected and the facilities are new, overall quite comfortable The bathroom sink is too small, it’s impossible for ab adult person to wash up without spilling water all over the place.
- JAYSON (10/5): Good - Clean
- Dana (10/5): -
- Christa (5/5): - Location and size Not clean, shower didn’t work well. Mould in bathroom. Tried to charge additional $200 cleaning fee.
- FADZLINE NIZA (10/5): Definitely we ‘ll return -
- Karen (9/5): A convenient place to stay with easy public transport options. - Excellent position for attending the Grand Prix at Albert Park. The Bed was comfortable and had excellent facilities. The Bathroom was small and the lounge was scratchy. Vehicle access was a little stressful when coming from the city.
- Kiera (10/5): -
- Julie (9/5): - Location, size, layout, inclusions, parking Noisy from road, other people sometimes take your carpark
- Gregson (10/5): -
- Andrew Skipp (8/5): -
- Eva (10/5): -
- Mandy (2/5): Horrendous noise do not stay here!! - Not a lot. The TV, bed, A/C and shower was adequate OMG!!! Do not stay in apartment 6 if you don’t like living/ sleeping next to a motorway. The noise was horrendous 24/7. I didn’t have a decent night sleep for the 10 nights I stayed in the apartment. I even tried wearing ear plugs. It does say that there is ambient noise. This is not the case. The noise is totally unacceptable. This apartment should not be rented out and if it is the noise should be mentioned. Not only was the noise bad the toilet seat was broken I informed the company who asked for a photo which was sent. A cleaner on site saw the seat and said she would report it. It never got fixed for the duration of my stay of 10 nights. The blind in the bedroom needed to be a black out one as it is really light in there. Also, contributing to no sleep. The wardrobe doors and majority of the walls are dirty and need a clean or a repaint. The rug is heavily stained. The settee is so uncomfortable. I didn’t feel comfortable using any of the crockery etc so ate out all the time. I complained on numerous occasions regarding the noise and asked to be moved but to no avail. I asked if other people had complained about the noise and I was told no. This is a lie as on previous reviews it mentions the noise. I was offered a 10% refund on the nightly rate which I think is an insult but I have not received this. After a few days I stopped emailing them as they were just patronising me. It ruined my holiday, due to the lack of sleep. I am a 60 year old who went to see my daughter after not seeing her for over a year. Do not stay at these apartments
- Kennan (9/5): - Close to good facilities, on a reasonably quite street
- Eloise (6/5): - Having a washing machine and detergent provided. Upon arriving, the toilet roll holder was broken, the shower head was broken and there was dog poo outside. The shower head itself worked but the component that let you adjust the height was broken which meant the shower head was facing your stomach and you had to crouch down to wash your hair, a bit inconvenient. The most disappointing part was the courtyard. I’d specifically booked this apartment so my dog could use the grass but it was much smaller than I was expecting and very overgrown. Unfortunately this meant my dog didn’t want to use the tiny patch of fake grass so I had to take him out to the street every time. The apartment was nice but also a little bit smaller than it looked in the photos. There was no tea towel to dry dishes and the kitchen lacked a few essentials like a knife to cut vegetables. Overall, providing a few more things would’ve made for a more enjoyable stay.
- Carol (8/5): Good, cute. Change the couch. - Very clean. All facilities re kitchen, laundry of a temporary accommodation. Good bed. Bathroom was pokey, shower uninviting. Couch was uncomfortable. Style kept us slipping down into an uncomfortable position for the back.
- Madan (10/5): An excellent apartment, clean, spacious, and perfectly located. Ideal for a comfortable and conveni - An excellent property in a fantastic location. The apartment is spacious, clean, and very comfortable for single /maximum 2 pax. The area has plenty of food options, convenient access to public transportation, and the added benefit of on-site parking, which made my stay even smoother.
The check-in process was easy, and the overall environment felt safe and welcoming. I definitely plan to re-book for a longer stay on my next trip.
- Macaylah (10/5): Loved it, first time in Melbourne and was so lovely. - Very cute and cosy apartment. Great spot, very close by the trams and train station. Squishy bathroom, but great otherwise.
- Hannah (10/5): Beautiful place with everything you could possibly need - The attention to detail in the apartment was wonderful and it was really fantastic that it had everything I could possibly need. It was a really wonderful stay and I'd love to go back.
- Erin (10/5): -
- Natan Zur (3/5): -
- Gwyneth (7/5): We stayed for 11 nights, and found it be a really good base for getting out and exploring Melbourne - Location is very handy to the tram and train for Melbourne City and Peninsula beach and locations. Also very handy to Windsor, Prahan shops, bars and market. All within an easy 10-15. minute walk. tram is 50m from the apartment, train 5 minute walk.
Has good basic facilites for our stay {11 nights} including a washing machine which was great.
Also, an easy straight forward 30 minute walk top St Kilda, and Albert park within a 20-25 minute walk. Very, VERY close to a main road route {Dandenong Road} which does mean road noise - if this annoys someone, I would not recommend this place.
Possibly a small thing, but there are gaps around the doors {can see daylight through them} which does mean draughts - there were some windy days during our visits and the draughts were quite noticable. I would not want to stay there during the cooler months.
A small folder of information about public transport options, nearest supermarket, a map of the area, and information on how to open the windows {these were locked and we were unable to find a key}
- Jayesh (8/5): -
- Bianca (10/5): Clean and comfortable - Extremely clean bed was comfortable good kitchen appliances good washing we really enjoyed our stay and barley even heard the highway It’s a bit small but perfect for one or two people
- Sara (9/5): Just as if you lived in st kilda, true Melbourne experience - I loved the location it was unbeatable so close to the beach clubs and with everything chapel st has to offer!
the bed is comfortable, I have a bad back so that’s important to me.
the place was clean and everything you need to cook is there including oil, salt and pepper. Washing machine has dryer setting, iron works well, hairdryer was good quality.
Just know if you choose parking you can not have a courtyard it’s one or the other so choose wisely!
Very quick and easy to get in and out of the city, can cycle, tram, train, uber or drive it’s just minutes away.
Couch was not the best, some quirks in finishes
As someone who has grown up in Melbourne I recommend staying in this area if you want an authentic Melbourne experience. You don’t need a plan just walk down chapel st anytime and you will find so many things to do, see and eat. highly recommend trying meat and Greek for Greek meat platters and chapelies (open till 3am) for their authentic Italian margarita pizza. Both on chapel st, and don’t forget to hit up the bazaar!
Staff were amazing also, thank you Location, bed, staff, kitchen
- Marie (9/5): -
- Colin (9/5): Nice relaxing holiday - Close to bars and shops Nothing was wrong
- jada004 (10/5): -
- Patrick (10/5): - Felt very at home in this leafy first floor apartment. Extremely close to the Astor Theatre. Communication re parking was a little unclear but we figured it out. Excellent for attending concerts and so on in St Kilda and surrounds.
- Luke (8/5): Excellent with ear plugs - Clean, fantastic location close to transport options and chapel st. Comfortable bed and pillow. Very noisy from major road outside. Nearby barking dog non stop. Take ear plugs. Shower head holder broken.
- Lauren (1/5): -
- Raymond (4/5): - I cancel one night never heard back for refund Parking not good front gates broken
- Rodriguez Biancotti (9/5): Acogedora.
- Scott (10/5): - Fantastic little holiday apartment, really impressed with how nice the kitchen was, small but all new/high end feel, packed in all you could need, washer/dryer dishwasher, plenty of pans and kitchen equipment. Comfortable bed. Nice location, short walk to St Kilda beach and Albert Park. We walked into the CBD which was a long walk but there is a tram station nearby. Was a small apartment so had a breakfast bar rather than a table. Driveway gate was small, I had a hatchback hire car and had to be careful to reverse out, however there was a big pickup parked in the carpark so they managed to get in.
- Goliati (8/5): - The aparnent was clean and was in a perfect location for my stay in Melbourne close to the city There was no parking space for my car.The whole areis littered with parking restrictions and there is a higher risk of getting a fine.
- Elsa (10/5): -
- Selina (10/5): Es war sehr komfortabel! - Das Bett und die Küche waren toll!
- Mary (8/5): Lovely little apartment. - Lovely apartment, fully equipped for our stay.
Toiletries and cleaning materials provided.
Comfy bed.
- gardiner (10/5): -
- Jeffrey (8/5): - Very clean room and location suited our visit
- Amit (8/5): -
- Rhiannon (10/5): -
- Brian (8/5): Nicely appointed 1 bedroom apartment in great location at moderate price. - Well appointed living room and comfortable bed.
Chocolate on arrival.
Fast WiFi.
Close to trams and train.
Cafes, supermarkets nearby. Could the bins be labelled to make it clear what goes in which. I noted much general waste in the recycling bins.
- Colin (8/5): - Clean, comfortable accomodation.
- Leigh (8/5): -
- Manelaya (8/5): - The place was really clean, bigger than I expected, had everything you need for a weekend stay and in a great location.
Only problems were internet wasn’t great and kept dropping out while watching a movie and parking isn’t great as everything on the street is 1hr parking
- Riaan (8/5): - Easy to get to city Basen very small and not drainning quickly
- Cenatiempo (4/5): -
- Anthony (7/5): -
- Sasha (7/5): The apartment was useful and locationally good - The location was good, although not soundproofed so you get all the noise from the neighbours and local life. They provide all utensils for cooking and coffee, oil, etc and leave you a chocolate bar which was lovely. The bed was soft and very comfy. They leave you shampoo, conditioner, bodywash and a hair dryer as well. It was a quite a bit smaller than the photos showed. The main light fell off the ceiling towards the end of our stay and we were unable to reach the hosts/chain as it is based in the UK so not local time to AUS. The shower had mould growing in it and the showerhead was broken so most of the water ran down the wall rather than out the showerhead.
- Wayne (10/5): - Coean room. Maybe a few stray long hairs from previous stayers. The building is nice the area is quiet and it’s not too far from some shops
- Sujita (9/5): Loved itp - I loved the overall stay The heater was not working properly
- Moira (9/5): I loved it. - Excellent location and facilities. Set up in homely way. Everything I needed. Very happy It’s an old building with steep stairs but it suited me.
- Paul (8/5): Very covenient location to stay in St Kilda - close to transport, shops and cafe's. - Bed was very comfy. Parking facing the rear laneway.
- Leesa (8/5): - Great location, comfortable bed, loved the sun in rooms during the day.
- Angellita (8/5): - not getting email regarding keys until i returned home to geelong.
- Eden (6/5): - Clean and comfortable. The traffic at night was bad and the place could do with having block out blinds as the bedroom is very light at nighttime making it hard to sleep.
- Leanne (8/5): -
- Helen (9/5): Very clean comfortable apartment. The utensils, iron, washing machine, dishwasher etc - Was not aware of where to get the breakfast. I would have liked to have breakfast. The stairs were a bit of a problem. Both my husband and I are over 70.
- Nora (8/5): A well located apartment which is very comfortable. - The property is in a great location, very well
equipped and very cosy even in Wintet. Initially it was cold but the staff addressed my needs and sorted me out with extra bedding.
- Z (8/5): -
- Hamid (5/5): This place really isn’t worth the price — there are definitely better options out there. - The place itself was nice – clean, tidy, and had everything I needed. Unfortunately, it was on the second floor, and the host didn’t mention that before. There was no elevator either.
The shower tap was leaking a lot, and the dripping sound was really annoying. Plus, the bathroom floor was always wet 😣😤
There was only one aircon for heating/cooling, and it barely worked. The house never got warmer than 17°C, and the bedroom was mostly around 15°C.
- Hamid (8/5): -
- Johannah (10/5): -
- Mark (9/5): Superb - Very clean and had everything you needed
- Evie (1/5): Absolutely awful - Nothing - terrible experience Where do I start?! My daughter stayed in this apartment, which after day 3 it was discovered, had a flea infestation. She was bitten profusely as the fleas were in the carpets, lounge and even in the bed. Negotiating a partial refund with management was a nightmare, with them initially offering a 20% discount. Eventually, they offered a part refund, below that which I thought was fair and reasonable. Dirty, unhygenic and an awful experience that ruined my daughter's stay in Melbourne.
- Jono (8/5): Very good -
- Elizabeth (9/5): My stay was very nice. The place was exceptionally clean and cosie. It was close to where I needed to be. - Very close to chapel st, restaurant and shops. All appliance new. Very clean and cute studio apartment. It’s just off a main st so traffic noise is loud until later on at night. Pillows on bed were very high.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Siu (2/5): Shocking! - We were shocked when we saw a mouse running out from the bedroom and found feces under the bed and kitchen area few consecutive days. We informed the customer service so they sent someone with a mouse trap but this didn’t improve the situation of cos and made us even more anxious. We concealed the holes ourselves. It was a devastating experience though the facilities were ok just having mice inside was totally unacceptable and unhygienic!
- Ensiyeh (6/5): Pleasant - Facilities like kitchenware. Wifi. Next to the public transport. It’s close to a highway, so really noisy. Carpet and sofa really old and dirty. The property is old, and there are some bugs. There is not any elevator, so this hard to carry your baggage to upstairs.
- Sunita (8/5): Very good -
- Lou (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neil (5/5): Passable - It was clean. The road noise was horrendous into the early hours of the morning as its near a major intersection.
- Stacey (10/5): Really enjoyed our stay. Apartment very comfortable, location great. - Lovely apartment, very comfortable, clean. Had everything that you could need. Location for transport links was within 10 min walk. Restaurants , pubs within 10 mins walk. Location to beach was about 25 min walk where there is more restaurants and pubs. Big park too.
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Axel (9/5): it was convenient and comfortable - WE quickly got used to the location and the ease with which we could walk to cafes and grocery stores There wasnt a jug for keeping water cold in the fridge
- Smith (9/5): Superb -
- Christine (1/5): Not a nice experience checking in or seeing how dirty the area was. Then the light, then the door.. - The apartment itself was very clean and well set up. The team at Urban rest always tried to resolve my issues of which there were many. The instruction for checkin were unnecessarily complicated. The area around the apartment was dirty with rubbish, clothing and 2 wheelbarrows left up against the wall, like some building work was started but never finished. The property is not secure. There is no point having access codes for gates when the rear of the property is not secure and anyone could access the property from a back lane. This rear gate cannot be locked and the space in front of it is an allocated car space.
When we entered the apartment we found that the ceiling light had broken and was dangling from one side in the living space. On the last night the lock on the door broke and we were not able to lock the door. I rang urban rest and they found us an apartment in the same block for the last night.
I have photos I can forward as evidence of the above.
- Ann (8/5): Location was excellent for seeing the city And good value. - It had a private car park but the back gates were open all the time. Our apartment was on the ground floor with a small courtyard. The outside was unkempt old leaves and dirt with a broken pipe from another apartment which had their water from washing machine running out.
- Maria (7/5): Well located, nicely appointed apartment - Great secure location near the Windsor train station and on a tram route. Easy walking distance to Chapel Street eateries and bars. Well appointed kitchen, good size bedroom, little sitting area with sofa and breakfast bar with bar stools, and a reasonable size shower on-suite. Aircon was great on the hot muggy Melbourne days. It is just off a major road and quite noisy.
There were some small maintenance issues (blind, shower head, bathroom window didn't open) - could do with an overall inspection.
- Annelore (8/5): Very good -
- Soph! (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean and comfortable, with everything you need for a great stay. The kitchen is well equipped, and it includes a washing machine and dryer for added convenience. The location is excellent, just a few steps from public transport. I would definitely recommend it and would gladly stay again! N/A
