Karen (9/5): - Location is central but very quiet, and the price is really reasonable for the quality of the accommodation. Location of tap and new shower screen makes it hard to turn on the shower without being hit by a blast of cold water.

The room was incredibly clean, spacious, quiet and very comfortable. The beds were excellent, the light blocking was great and I honestly had one of the most peaceful sleeps I’ve had in a hotel in a long time as I couldn’t hear any outside noise at all. The staff were also wonderful to deal with. I arrived quite late in the evening and they provided very clear and safe instructions for access which made everything stress free. They were also very accommodating with a later checkout request which I really appreciated. The location is excellent as well, with fantastic restaurants nearby and beautiful walks along the water. I would absolutely stay here again. Nothing

Room was not clean at all on arrival and had a horrible smell from being closed up. Staff would not provide me with an alternative room as they were fully booked so I waited on reception for 20minutes while they swiftly cleaned the room.

There was a strong smell of cooking coming into the room from outside at regular intervals. I could also hear the garage roller door in the morning every time a car left. These seem to depend on the room you are allocated.

Peter (8/5): Top location - Two nights at the Crown on Darby. Location was perfect for exploring Newcastle, and Cooks Hill is the best suburb to hang out it. The apartment was quite well worn but it had everything we needed. The spa bath was good. Mattress very soft. Not the best. I’m a light sleeper so the unnecessary window without a blind between the bathroom and main room meant the room was bright very early. Collecting keys outside check in hours (= after 3pm on Sundays) worked fine for us but another couple were having problems and there were no staff around to help. Cost of parking ($50 for 2 days) seemed a bit hefty but I guess that’s what you have to pay for a city location.

Duc (7/5): Good - Cleanliness, how spacious everything was, balconies the lights were the harsh blue kind of light rather than the muted tones I prefer at hotels. I had to turn the outdoor light next to the bedroom or the TV, or just one lamp. The person responding to my second email and whoever texts could have a friendlier tone, as it's it contrast to the first person who emailed and the people who spoke on the phone. I had some security concerns about who can access the key in the safety box after hours if you arrive after 5pm.

William (9/5): Perfect location, clean, quiet and good value - The room was a good size studio. Fully equipped for a short stay with microwave, fridge, comfortable bed and a desk. Biggest TV screen I've ever had in a room and it had a fantastic picture. I was able to connect and stream to one of my apps with no issue. Interesting that the balcony was enclosed and had louvered open spaces (no windows). It felt a little closed in as there was no actual window to the exterior, but you got sunlight with the patio louvres fully open. This wasn't an issue as we were there for one night. If your stay is longer, you might want a different room configuration with an open balcony/patio.

Mary (8/5): Great place for an overnight stay - The room was spacious and had all we needed for an overnight stay. The bed was really comfortable. The balcony area was an unusual addition, but worked well for us when we wanted to just sit quietly and relax. The door to the accommodation was very noisy and you have to go through two doors. There is nothing you can do to stop the clunking noise as the door shuts but it disturbed us when our neighbour entered their suite, so it must have been the same for them when we left or arrived. It was also difficult to manage the two doors when you have luggage.
