Guest Reviews
- Nathan (10/5): - The view, the spa and the indoor fire gave it a real getaway feel
- Murray (10/5): This property far exceeds our expectations in every way. - Everything, it was a beautiful accomodation with stunning views and amazing wildlife including an abundance of Kangaroos, Rabbits and Ducks and a morning visit from some Brumbies. Nothing
- Ian (9/5): Cosy retreat far away from the bustle of the city. - Amazing views, very cosy little cabin. Hot tub with views and outdoor bbq were great. Wood burning stove on the cold evenings was amazing. Everything was pretty much as adversised, the cleaning could have been a little better (we arrived to a full bin from the previous guests)
- Cotton (10/5): N/A - The views and spa. Doggos loved it all too! Open bathroom. No privacy on toilet 🫤
- Doug (10/5): Wonderful stay, will be back! - Great facilities, amazing property. Loved the wood fire, the spa and the view from the bedroom.
- Jason (2/5): Costly, not secure and dirty - Beautiful scenery Very costly, spa jets did not work, floor was filthy with dog paws, couch had dog hair on it, cubboard doors were sticky. Door to unit could not be locked
- King (10/5): A relaxing gem of a getaway nestled in a gorgeous part of the high country. Loved every moment - The location was magic, with stunning views through the gum trees across to the undulating hills. The hot tub and cosy fire were absolutely incredible after a day on the slopes!
- Stephanie (8/5): -
- Diana (10/5): - Everything was amazing!!!
- Washington (10/5): - Needs a separate toilet
- hayley (10/5): Incredible views and cosy space! - The property has beautiful views and such a cosy feel. When we arrived the hot tub was filled and heated for us to enjoy straight away. There was plenty of firewood available to enjoy a cosy night in watching the sunset and the wildlife grazing in the paddock. Our dogs enjoyed the space and we had everything we needed for our stay. We would love to come back again for a longer stay!
- Trish (7/5): Stylish & cozy place with lovely bedroom & stunning location. Great that it’s dog friendly. - Absolutely glorious location with stunning views, super comfortable king size bed, stylish recycled look interior, the indoor fireplace was a dream and bathroom nice and clean. The internet worked well and after dark, having the large tv screen was good without being obtrusive. Lots of kangaroos and we saw an emu very close up. It’s lovely being able to have the dogs with us in such a nice location. The kitchen wasn’t clean, we had to wash most things before use, the drawers are full of crumbs and a lot of the cooking equipment look like someone’s castoffs. No pepper and only minimal dishwashing liquid so it was all gone by the time we left. The doors are dirty and breaking away, and the dishwasher doesn’t work. In an area where going out for dinner is not ideal, a lot more care could be taken and a deep clean is necessary. The lack of toilet privacy is a little unnecessary in an otherwise lovely and clean bathroom.

- Ernest (9/5): Stylish cosy cottage with stunning alpine views and a safe a s fun-filled setting for our dogs too! - Stunning location with a beautiful alpine outlook. Excellent expansive and safe area for our dogs to run around and explore. Very cosy and comfortable cottage with lovely lounge, first class heating, great kitchen and attractive amenities. Beautiful bedlinen and super comfy bed. The outdoor spa overlooking distant mountains was a bonus ans greatly enjoyed. The door separating the lounge from the bedroom was difficult to close.
- Kylie (9/5): Superb -
- Scott (10/5): High country delight - This place is incredible. Views, wild horses, kangaroos, good doggies a hot tub and a very comfy and warm cabin. If you want to get away to a fairly remote spot but still enjoy some comforts come here. Nothing - place is perfect
- Tamsin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Geri (9/5): Memorable - The location was amazing. A family of Brumbies traipsed through one morning.
- Antonia (10/5): Wonderful alpine retreat - Loved our stay in the cabin (which is a very cool spacious 'tiny-house' made using lots of reclaimed materials). So peaceful with beautiful views of the alpine hills and resident kangaroos. It was the perfect spot to relax after alpine hiking and camping. Close to Dinner Plain for the pub and more lovely hikes. David is a great host! Not having a door on the en suite didn't bother us, but might not work for everyone.
- Jeylan (10/5): Remote, romantic, & ready for adventure. - The location was absolutely fantastic on a beautiful property overlooking mountain ranges, it’s very well maintained and had an array of wildlife at the doorstep. The property owner was just coming back from their Christmas in Melbourne while we were settling in for dinner so we had a great chat about how lovely the property was & had a visit from his young daughter and two dogs too (dogs extremely well behaved) N/A
- Emily (8/5): Very good - Great property, cool cabin and a peaceful stay. Warm welcome from David and Isla his boarder collie.
- Janet (8/5): Fantastic views. - This cabin has had very mixed reviews. I think all the reviews are valid. Maybe it’s a bit Marmite (or Vegemite!). Personally I liked it. We got a very warm welcome from David. We were seeking views, stars and solitude which is what we got. We didn’t see any spiders, we got visited by one of the dogs and we played loud music when one of us wanted to use the dunny. See previous reviews
Couldn’t connect to the WiFi
- Hawke (9/5): Relaxing stay - Due to the peacefulness and serenity of the location we relaxed and just enjoyed watching nature. Awoke to 12 brumbies right out front - beautiful.
- John (10/5): Beautiful and relaxing. - Only neg for us, no door on toilet otherwise can't fault anything
- Jen (9/5): Superb - My partner and I came here with our 2 dogs for a little family getaway and to hopefully see the snow. Whilst we were really bummed that it didn’t snow where we stayed, the view was absolutely gorgeous and we don’t regret our choice at all. Hosts were very helpful and replied to messages very quickly. We arrived late after a long day travelling in severe weather - power was out but luckily the owners had a generator which did the job for us to be able to settle in nicely. To top it all off the hosts also had the fireplace all set up ready to go for us and the spa pre-warmed. Would definitely stay again if we come back this way The only thing I could fault is that there’s no door to the toilet, and its really close to the bed, which made it hard when one of us needed to go to toilet and the other was also in the bedroom hahah
- Varunee (9/5): Loved it. Hope to be back again. - Hot spa and view Need a little bit of cleaning around sofa, otherwise all good
- Diana (10/5): We had a wonderful stay at the cabin, enjoyed the spa and the views. We woke up every morning with around 15+ kangaroos - Stunning views! The spa is such a great experience up there!
- Linda-jane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kait (10/5): Exceptional - The brumbies came so close to the cabin and the owners doggies always came for a visit which the kids loved
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicholas (9/5): Copy Shed - Amazing view, especially in the morning. Wallabies, Brumby and the owners cute dogs
- Linore (9/5): Superb -
- Matthew (1/5): Bad - The property wasn’t nearly as private as lead to believe. No door on the bathroom. It was not cleaned well and was filled with mice. We were so disappointed with this place and it was unfit to stay in. It was incredibly difficult to organise a refund. Terrible experience all round.
- Brad (10/5): Looking forward to coming back again - Great property with fantastic views
Facilities are excellent and our hosts had the spa all set for our arrival Loved the property
Just a tip for other travelers that it isn’t very close to any eatery’s so worth bringing your own spread ( which we did ) as there is a full kitchen setup
- Joshua (9/5): Superb - Amazing views, very quiet and peaceful. Cabin was super cosy with the fireplace. Spa was an added bonus, great so soak in the surrounds. Too many spiders for my wife's liking!
- Ashley (9/5): Superb - The location is wonderful
- William (10/5): Wonderful! - Everything! Need some cover over the door for when it rains!
- Tess (8/5): Very good -
- Joseph (2/5): Did not enjoy and won’t recommend. - The view Upon arrival saw that the cabin was built right next to a farmers shed. Had to find access to property as no communication. Farmer working on his machinery, his dogs barking at our dog. Dishwasher unemptied. Dirty cleaning cloth. Very ordinary sofa which had stains over it. Dangerous drop off back deck.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful views and spa was awesome and especially getting a view from Isla there dog that was a bonus We were about to cook some food on bbq and ran outta gas but we just used the inside stovetop
- Arsh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darren (8/5): Nice night at Shiki - The cabin itself was very relaxing and the view's were amazing. The layout is fantastic and very cosy.. we loved putting a fire on and watching a movie.. sitting in the spa looking out at the view's was amazing There is some room for improvement regarding a few things. Nothing major and easy fixes. They need a new spa cover as it is broken and a lot of bits of foam end up in the spa. The spa itself is probably due a good clean. And two beds put together to make a large bed was not to our liking especially for a couple's get away I had to move away from my wife to not be in the hard hole in the middle. Good BBQ tools would have been good too. Don't get me wrong we still had a great night. all in all a great stay and the above gripes are for positive criticism more than anything as it wasn't the be all end all or ruin our stay by any stretch of the imagination.
- Rachel (8/5): Very good - We had a good stay at the Skiki snow cabin. We very much appreciated being able to bring our dog with us as well, for no extra charge.
- Jill (8/5): Awesome country Victoria cabin - Such an awesome country Victoria cabin in a lovely private location, away from the hustle and bustle of Dinner Plain/Mt Hotham but close enough to be able to enjoy the snow and access stores.
The cabin was very new, very clean and comfortable with everything we needed. We wished we could have stayed longer! Couldn't work out how to get the dishwasher working
- Anonymous (10/5): We loved our stay at the Shiki Snow Cabin! It was the perfect distance away from the snow and we loved how quiet and pea - Outdoor fire, scenery (wildlife), spa, tv with streaming services, privacy. Unable to lock front door
- Roman (5/5): Passable -
