- Paul (9/5): Great hotel and experience overall tainted by some of the bar staff. - The standard of accommodation, amenities and the grounds of the hotel were very high. While the quality of service at reception and the restaurants was very good, that at the Yellowbell bar for the most part left a lot to be desired. Two or three each of the female and male staff were interested but the rest clearly didn’t want to be there and whilst they were never rude the service was slow and almost grudging.

- Evan (9/5): Amazing people, pool and food! - Pool, food options, fitness center + sauna, and the beach club were amazing. Staff was also lovely, everyone was kind and accommodating. Did not feel touristy at all which we appreciated. Really wish it was on the beach BUT access to Old Fort Bay Club more than makes up for it.

- Larissa (8/5): We had a nice stay, but the quality didn’t quite justify the high cost - Great restaurants, a nice pool and gym, and friendly, attentive service at the pool and restaurants. Front desk communication was poor — they failed to relay a restaurant reservation and the agreed late checkout. Also, the hotel is located right in the airport’s entry lane, so planes pass overhead every couple of minutes while you’re at the pool.
- Alex (8/5): Beautiful boutique feel hotel in a quiet location - Fantastic location away from the hustle and bustle of Nassau. Hotel was clean and spacious and very relaxed vibe. Gym facilities and classes were excellent and the pool area was great. Staff were friendly and helpful! Great restaurants on site. Having access to the Old Fort Bay club was a fantastic bonus - a very beautiful and rustic beach. Value for money would have felt much better if (I) airport transfer was included (II) some kind of breakfast was included (we didn’t expect the full menu but yoghurts/berries at least) and (III) at least one cinema ticket included for guests.

- BEVERLY (9/5): FROM NYC TO NEARBY PARADISE.. - I LOVED THE LOCATION, THE STAFF IS EXCEPTIONAL .THE STAFF MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE IT IS MONEY WELL SPENT. THE HOTEL ITSELF IS GORGEOUS .THE VIBE OF THE HOTEL MAKES YOU FEEL THAT YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN PRIVATE ISLAND. THE ROOMS ARE SPACIOUS AND WELL DECORATED. THE BIGGEST WISH IBHAVE FOR THE ISLAND HOUSE, IS I WISH IT WAS BEACHFRONT, WHERE YOU COULD WALK RIGHT TO THE BEACH. THERE ARE NOT MANY THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE..I THINK I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST SOME THINGS THAT WOULD MAKE THE ISLAND HOUSE ABSOLUTELY. PERFECT FIRST OF ALL THE DINING OPTIONS, AT THE HOTEL IS VERY LIMITED. I THINK IT WOULD BE GREAT IDEA TO BRING IN A FOOD TRUCK WEEKLY SHOWCASING LOCAL CUISINE . Beautiful pool and very good restaurants options (the Italian is pricey!). The private beach is 5 minutes drive from the hotel (transport provided). Service is excellent, everyone is friendly. There is also a gym and a studio with classes.

The grounds are well maintained. Our room was perfect and the decor and design of the whole property was gorgeous. The fitness classes were all really good! The squash courts were being renovated but once that is done that will be great. The food on site is delicious. The location is difficult if you aren’t renting a car. Taxis are very expensive so it will cost $60 to 80$ US both ways if you want to go into town for dinner or if you want to explore a different area. You also can’t walk anywhere from the property. That being said if you are looking to relax and not do a lot of site seeing The Island House is perfect for that. The shuttle service to and from the beach works really well and Old Fort Bay beach is exquisitely beautiful. I wish that there were fridges in the room so that one could purchase their own snacks.

Only coffee available in the room, no room service no mini bar. Restaurant were decent not not amazing and service not consistent. The beach is a shuttle away, but not consistently available (only from 10am in the morning)

Please just remember Lyford Cay is a little bit away from downtown - this is both an incredible strength (away from most tourist hustle/bustle), but if you’re keen to do that stuff - factor in a little commute.

Couldn’t ask for a better place in Bahamas! Driving was easy for the first time driving on the other side of the road. Super easy! It was helpful to have my own car on the island as hotel is about 10 minutes away from the airport. Absolutely loved the food at this magnificent property! Way better then anywhere else on the island! The air didn’t get cool in the beautiful room.

There were many touches that were really special, the fruit in the room, the beautiful Bamford spa products and the unbelievably peaceful gardens. The resort is arranged to maximize the feeling of calm and quiet. We felt extremely well cared for and rested after just a few days here. We had a rental car that we used to do some exploring (especially restaurants) on the island but really could have done without--rides to and from the beach were terrific. The beach was not as described in older reviews but it was, nonetheless, a treat. The breakfast service and menu were quite variable during our stay. Given the excellent food and service everywhere else in the resort I will assume there was some temporary glitch in the morning routine

Lovely little touch to be chauffeured to a private beach and to enjoy the sun, sea, sand and wonderfully attentive services of De Marco. Waiting 90 minutes for fries and cheese. Then receiving congealed lukewarm fries covered with microwave melted cheese.

- Sema (9/5): A smart but casual boutique hotel with great facilities. - A beautiful boutique hotel with large room and gorgeous bathroom. The pool area was very comfortable and the beach was also very pretty and secluded. Loved the fitness classes but be sure to book into them! Not much. Taxis are very expensive but we hired a car which made the stay much more flexible. It’s in the nicer quieter part of the island but there isn’t a huge amount to do outside of the property. Prices are high everywhere but I suppose that is to be expected in The Bahamas. Gets very busy at the weekend with the members and their young children.

- Ann (10/5): Memorable, I travel the world and this is one of the few hotels I would return to. - It was spectacular, beautiful -- truly magnificent fresh brewed coffee offered from 5am -- not the sad coffee in the rooms, but freshly brewed in a central place When swimming at night -- the pool experience would be measurably enhanced if the pool -- particularly the end of the pool, which is dark, was lit.
- Alison (10/5): Can’t wait to go back to this amazing hotel - Amazing hotel in a secluded area. The restaurants were all fantastic especially the Italian and Thai restaurants. The staff were exceptional. There is a private car service to the hotels private beach (5 minute drive). The beach is stunning and we had it to ourselves most days. The pool area was great with very comfy sunbeds. Nothing

- Mark (9/5): Great for a really chill few days with great restaurants - The Island house is perfect for those who like a really chill bohemian vibe away from all the hustle and bustle. It has 2 great restaurants Thai and Italian and its own cinema! The location means it’s quite away from other restaurants and resorts if you want to go out and taxi fairs are expensive
