Guest Reviews
- Mandy (9/5): Beautiful house in Oakleigh - The house was so very lovely! My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. It is centrally located and it is so close to the train station and the Chadstone Shopping Centre. There are also many local eateries, with both Coles and Woolworths within reach. The central heating didn't seem to work, but the split systems made up for it.
- Mark (1/5): Read before you book - a salutary lesson - Any positives were vastly overshadowed by the whole experience of staying at this property. We booked this place for an eleven night stay for four ADULTS (combined age 205) - no children/no infants. Initially we were quite happy with the accommodation provided; it was clean, all mod cons, comfortable...we were quite willing to overlook the thick accumulation of dust on top of the fridge-freezer, the mini tabletop oven provided in place of the broken oven, the somewhat intrusive CCTV on the decking and entry into the house, the noisy road and the wailing sound of the anti possum/cat alarm that went off every ten minutes from 5.30am-9.30am daily. Also be aware that, if you need a dark bedroom to sleep in, the all three bedrooms have frosted glass doors.
A week after leaving we still hadn't received our $550 bond money back. I phoned to enquire about this and was told by the owner that raw sewage had leaked out into the bathrooms and back garden from a blocked drain. I assured her that on our leaving all toilets flushed and we'd had no problems apart from slow drainage in the bathrooms and kitchen, and gurgling noises from the sinks, which we put down to the age of the house, and this had been going on throughout the stay. We asked to see the plumber’s report. She refused and there then followed radio silence from her until the people from Booking intervened. She (eventually) told them that nappies had been blocking the drain (we have an email confirming this!). As you read earlier we have NO children and had NO children stay with us or even visit - something the owner clearly would know on reviewing the CCTV. I then had lengthy chats back and forth with Booking and they told the owner to reimburse our bond but she has flatly refused, subsequently refusing all messages and phone calls and then threatened me with even more costs even though she acknowledged that the nappy may have been deposited by a previous guest!
So be very careful before you book or you may too be liable for previous guests’ damage.
