Guest Reviews
- Heimburger (9/5): Superb -
- Anne (9/5): Great spot / lovely staff! - The house was really wonderful and very helpful. She made delicious breakfast and made us feel right at home :-)
- Adam (10/5): Helpful hosts - Andrea was so helpful with everything we needed and even kept offering us tastes of Colombia. We had a lovely fish dinner as well as two lovely breakfasts. Chose the air con room and it was a great haven from the heat!
- Heather (9/5): Superb - Staff lovely and very helpful with tours, free tea, breakfast is nice if you want it, went swimming in the river, fab way to cool off, handy for the ferry to Aipe for onward travel north or south.
- Sabrina (10/5): Great stay in Villavieja - Very familiar, nice and clean accomodation. The owner and staff are incredibly helpful and welcoming. It's clean and neat. The kitchen is well equipped and the tours they offer are fairly priced. Nothing to complain about - just fyi it's very hot in villavieja, so if you are sensitive you better take a room with AC
- Teodora (9/5): Good place to visit the desert from - Andrea is a wonderful and friendly host. She helped me plan my excursion in Tatacoa and book the bus when I left. The place is simple, but with everything you need.
- Paul (9/5): Superb - Great value. No complaints. Good breakfast, clean modern bathroom,
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly and helpful owners! They helped me with planning my trip and called the bus to pick me up, it was really nice. The room was also nice and clean and I had a good breakfast! :)
- Nathan (10/5): Exceptional - Luna del Desierto was great for my short stay in Villavieja. The rooms were spacious and clean, the facilities were great, and the dog Luna was adorable. Kudos to the staff, including Andrea, for being super friendly and helpful with everything related to Tatacoa! Really made to feel at home.
- Franziska (10/5): Making you feel like living at home with your family - Top located in Villavieja and a very helpful team in all matters. They even asked the busdriver to bring me to the Hostel. Thank you so much for everything!!!
- Tobiasm. (9/5): Superb - Miguel was very kind and helped out with answers to any question I could think of.
The hostel is a quite and beautiful place. Well clean and comfortable, I would recommend.
- Inne (9/5): Superb - Een heel aangename, rustige plaats.
Spreken geen Engels maar doen er alles aan om je te helpen.
Ze maken tegen een kleine prijs een goed ontbijt.
- Alessandro (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hollie (10/5): Amazing place - Everything. The owners of the place were amazing and were even waiting outside for me, so I knew which hostel it was after a long journey. They helped me plan a tour to the desert, and the location was walking distance from the square.
The place was clean and good value for money It was crazy hot and only fans. I knew this prior but don't expect a/c.
- Mary (10/5): I felt like part of the family here - I stayed in a private room and it was great value for money. Andrea was so kind and helpful, offering me food and drinks throughout my stay. She also helped me to organise a wonderful tour in the desert and my bus back to Neiva. Good kitchen and Wi-Fi. Luna the dog was so cute too!
- Nele (10/5): Exceptional - The owners of the hostal are very kind and friendly. They prepared breakfast for us at 5:30 o'clock just because we wanted to leave at 6:00 in the desert. It was very clean in the rooms and in the bathrooms. Nothing
- Madeleine (10/5): Great homely stay in Villavieja - We liked the friendly and helpful owner who made us feel like at home. The story about the name of the hospedaje (clue in the logo!) is touching. The kitchen is well equipped. Drinking water and coffee is provided. Possibility of having breakfast and washing at very reasonable rates. Very good value for money. Nothing.
- Marlene (10/5): Exceptional - The stuff and hostel were amazing! The kitchen is big and clean and the rooms as well
- Stuart (9/5): It was very organic, well run and the people who managed the place very friendly. - It was well located and comfortable and friendly. Nothing
- Mathilde (9/5): Superb - I got one room with 6 beds for myself for a good price. 2 fans in the room, enough for just me (a bit noisy). The other room has AC apparently. Pay with cash. A couple if showers and 1 toilet available but I stayed 2 nights and was the only one. Internet was working fine. Walking distance to everything. They offer breakfast but I didn't try. You can put things in the fridge. Coming from Bogota, bus to Aipe then take mototaxi to the river then ferry boat to Villavieja (6am -6pm) I guess I wished they had a pool, considering how hot it was !
- Carmina (10/5): Perfect location for a trip to the desert - My friend and I stayed with Andrea and booked our tour to Tatacoa through her hostel. Andrea went above and beyond her duties as a host. She even fixed my backpack. I could have not asked for more from her.
My friend and I stayed in a big room. If you cannot handle the heat well, I recommend getting one of the rooms with AC because the temperature in Villaviejo can get quite high.
Andrea's place is within walking distance from the main attractions in the village such as restaurants, corner shops, ATMs etc. It is the best location with the best hosts you can ask for in Villavieja. Expect power cuts and perhaps internet signal drops. They are common across Colombia and unfortunately, the host cannot do much about it.
