- jane (9/5): Beautiful historical studio in a fantastic location - Great location and very cosy . Nothing
- Candie (10/5): Beautiful little place that has so much to offer. A lovely getaway - Quaint and had everything we needed Parking was a bit ordinary
- Patrick (10/5): - It is a cozy relaxing stay.
- Martin (10/5): An amazing stay - Beautifully decorated with quality furnishings. So many little touches- the owners have thought of everything! nothing!
- stephen (10/5): Old Charm comfortable place to stay. -
- Lorraine (7/5): Despite these few drawbacks, we appreciated the thought put into the space and wonderful location - We had a lovely weekend in the Adelaide Hills. The accommodation was cute, clean, warm, and in a great location. The Uraidla Hotel was just a stone’s throw away—convenient for classic pub food—but if you're after a more elevated dining experience, we’d recommend the Crafers Hotel. The bread, wine, and chocolates left for us on arrival were a lovely touch and very much appreciated.
There are plenty of beautiful wineries in the area, but Casa Freschi really stood out to us. It’s a small, family-run winery producing organic, handpicked wines made with care in the traditional way. A surprising variety on offer—something to suit every palate. While we enjoyed our stay overall, there were a few aspects of the accommodation worth noting:
Privacy was an issue. The studio overlooks the villa below, and with the blinds open, there was a direct view inside. This made us feel quite exposed and meant we kept the blinds closed most of the time, which made the space feel dark and a bit claustrophobic.
Parking was tricky. It’s located on a bend, and with the villa guests having three cars, some vehicles had to park on the grass verge.
Bathroom: The door jammed on the tiles and didn’t close properly.
Main door: It gave us some concern, as it appeared it could be locked from the outside with no way to exit from inside.
A small coffee table would have been a nice addition, as well as an extra mirror outside the bathroom.
Shower pressure was quite low, though we understand that may be difficult to improve depending on the property’s setup.
We also had issues accessing the Disney+ app—we were advised to log in as a guest after emailing, but unfortunately that didn’t work either.
- Kelsey (10/5): Wonderful would stay again - Love the vibe and feel of the place, a gorgeous place to call home.
- McKie (9/5): Perfect location in a historic gem. - A beautifully appointed studio with excellent amenities. Comfortable furnishings with high quality linens and appliances. Attentive hosts who provide extra little touches to make a stay memorable. Limited parking at the rear, not at the street address provided.
- Xavier (10/5): - Great location to visit the Hills. Super efficient host: great communication, very clear, very organised. Great venue. 5 stars we liked everything
- Phil (10/5): - Loved the studio , was perfect for our stay purpose and in a great location to access the surrounding area. N/A
- Jennifer (10/5): Delightful studio get away in the Hills with the famous Uraidla pub and bakery just across the road. - Key box easy to find and use, even on a dark night which is when we got to the property.
Well appointed and looked after property with little touches like fresh bread and spreads, chocolates and wine awaiting us when we arrived.
- Andrew (10/5): Great spot for visiting the Adelaide Hills -
- Agars (10/5): - The heritage features of.the building Nothing
- Veronica (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the fresh bread from local bakery, well presented accommodation
- Grant (10/5): Nicely presented property with nice furniture. Comfortable bed. Tv streaming good - The studio was in a perfect location as it is an easy walk to the local pub and the popular bakery Gurgling of the toilet
- Margaret (8/5): Very good - The bread and chocolates on arrival were a lovely treat.
- David (8/5): A nice comfortable stay in the heart of the hills. - Very nicely renovated, close proximity to town facilities. Staff are very friendly and responsive. It’s a lovely little place to stay with lots of charm. Owners have done a great job of bringing it back to life. Pleasantly surprised by some chocolates, bread and jam upon arrival, which was greatly appreciated. Parking arrangements are pretty dicey, not much fun getting in there if other cars are there. It’s just a space on the side of road which is a blind corner. But this was well explained by staff when we received check in instructions. Also worth noting there no cooking facilities whatsoever. A toaster, microwave and kettle is what you have. It’s also right on top of another accommodation stay so if other people are staying there it can feel like you’re not alone.
- Marion (9/5): Superb - Great Location The WIFI did not work, and there were a few different lockboxes with different codes- so somewhat confusinng on arrival.
- Alexis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Scott (8/5): Very good -

- Michael (9/5): Well appointed property in the heart of Adeliade Hills - Quirky and comfortable property. Well appointed with some unexpected extras to make us feel welcome. Great Aussie pub very close with a great menu and awesome food. Ideally located for exploring the Adelaide Hills area.
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional - Great stay
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Michelle (10/5): Indulgent stay - Beautiful, well appointed & secluded. Glad there was no-one in the main police station The number of bends & hairpin turns to get to the venue
- Todd (10/5): welcoming, unique place to stay in a quiet, interesting area - Unique stay in a quiet area just out of town. accessible to the city (20 minutes) and close to Cleland Nature Park, mount lofty, and other quaint towns in Adelaide Hills. the hosts gave wonderful little added touches like fresh bread & wine. liked it all
- Niki (9/5): superbly comfortable with luxurious amenities and a only a stagger from the pub ( but no noise!) - such a lovely property. fabulous communication with the owner. we were actually surprised how comfortable the room was from a size perspective. very very comfortable bed with great linen. high quality accessories and generous thoughtful finishing touches . highly recommend Really “ looking” for things here!!! I would suggest a small fan as well as aircon . the aircon is very effective but we do not like sleeping with aircon on, yet you do need some air circulation in summer. it didn’t bother us in the slightest, but other guests may like to know the lock up is very much next door / on top of to the Police Station Accom. if you were two different groups worth knowing BUT as I say did not cause o problem or effect us
- Julian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shoa (9/5): Comfortable and perfectly situated to explore the Adelaide Hills - My stay at The Lockup was lovely, beginning with the generous hosts who had a whole range of goodies waiting for me on arrival. The property is beautiful, both on the inside and outside, with historical charm and a lovely garden surrounding it. It has modern fittings and tasteful decor. It is located right in the middle of town, just a stone's throw away from the pub, restaurants, shops and some wineries. The hosts were attentive and helpful. Being right in the middle of town, the property is on the road that leads into the town and is near a popular reception venue, so if you want to sleep in/have an early night and are sensitive to noise, I would suggest bringing earplugs.
