Guest Reviews
Siempre atento a nuestras necesidades e inquietudes.

- Irina (10/5): Paradise 💜 - Loved the bird singing and surrounding forest, the balcony and the garden were nice too. The room was perfect for me and had everything necessary. The walk to the village and to the start of all hikes is about 15-20 mins. I like walking so for me it wasn’t a problem, rather an advantage. If you are coming back at night by walking - don’t forget the torch:)
Sebastian and his wife are very helpful and always patiently and kindly answered all my questions ( and I had a lot of questions! 😝)
Book your tours with the owner - you will not regret! I especially loved the mangrove tour and the night live tour. I liked everything except the sounds of cars passing by

Vielen Dank. Mucho gusto e pura vida!
- Christian (10/5): - Wonderful place at the edge of the jungle. we were picked when we arrived at the beach and drove by a supermarket to get supplies. Rooms a spacious clean and cool made, it's a place you can really spent time just hanging out in the garden or on the balcony. The owners are really friendly and informative. We really enjoyed our week there.
- Martina (10/5): -
- Fanny (9/5): Superb - Basic but all you need is there, I loved this place in the middle of the Green lush jungle. Perfect place to stay if you are visiting Drake Bay.
- Xi (10/5): Highly recommended - The view from the balcony is amazing. You are right in the middle of the forest while being in a very nice chalet. The place has all we needed for a short stay. In the morning the birds can be a bit noisy, and it is a bit far from the village center - you need a car.
- Gregory (10/5): The cabañas were perfect for our needs. They were very comfortable but still felt immersed in nature with monkeys right - The cabañas were perfect for our needs. They were very comfortable but still felt immersed in nature with monkeys right outside. Sebastián was also amazingly helpful and helped us organise a mangrove tour last minute
- Eric (9/5): Superb -
- Ketty (10/5): It was a wonderful stay, absolutely our best in Costa Rica! - Absolutely everything!
The cabaña we stayed in was very cosy and every single detail was very well thought of.
The view on the woods is calming and relaxing. You’re completely immersed in nature: from the balcony we saw monkeys, toucans and agoutis. Two frogs crossed our path when going back at night.
The room and the kitchen were spotless!
Last but not least, Sebastián is an incredible host: friendly, available and very nice. You can tell he genuinely enjoys hosting people and sharing tips and information about this and other beautiful areas of Costa Rica.
- Murrell (10/5): Tranquil location with attentive, yet unobtrusive hosts. Highly Recommend! - Sebastian and Maria were the most amazing hosts. We had to change plans at the last minute due to road closures and cancelled accommodation. After confirming last minute availability at Bajo Bosque, I had a WhatsApp message 5 minutes later from Sebastian re-assuring us he'd be waiting on the beach to transfer us to Bajo Bosque after our boat transfer from Sierpe (we highly recommend this route in to Drake Bay).
On the first morning, Sebastian took us into town and pointed out the best shops to buy fruit, veg and store-cupboard supplies. Later in the week when we experienced a power outage, Sebastian was down in a heartbeat with a gas burner so we could make our morning coffee and breakfast.
We saw so much wildlife from the balcony of Bajo Bosque, with messages from Sebastian each time he spotted a Sloth in the trees. The Macaws were also a common sight in the trees road-side.
We enjoyed the easy 20 minute walk down to the start of the Drake Bay hiking trail (spotted a Tapir on the road at night!). We were travelling with kids, and there was never a complaint about the walking because we always saw so many exciting things long the way. Sebastian also offers transfers at a reasonable cost which are well worth it to explore more of the Drake Bay Hiking trail.
Our change in plans meant that we stayed 3 nights longer than originally planned, spending 7 nights in total. This was in hind-sight such a great alteration to our itinerary because our stay at Bajo Bosque was hands-down the best part of our 3 week holiday in Costa Rica.
We'd also highly recommend a creek tour with José whose knowledge of frogs is incredible!
- Angela (10/5): Quiet location with a beautiful garden. - Beautiful new cabin, specious with balcony. Fully equipped kitchen, clean and comfortable. Not necessarily a negative but it’s not close to the centre of the village.
- Julie (9/5): We loved Osa! It felt well away from the madding crowd. The - The location was fine with a car. It was a 20 minute walk down to the beach/town which was fine but uphill in the heat was more of a struggle. The river pool 5 minutes up the hill from the property was lovely for a cooling swim. Sebastian kept in touch with us in case we needed anything. The room was very close to the trees so when out on the narrow balcony it wasn’t possible to see up into the canopy to see wildlife. We did enjoy watching the fireflies in the evenings and saw many birds.
- Jonathan (9/5): Superb - Great house, nice and clean, kind and helpfull host. We had a great stay
- Francesca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Doug (10/5): Rustic comfort set in the trees a short walk to town with a helpful host - Nice walk into town. Quiet location, set in the trees with lovely gardens. And close to the river with a good swimming hole. Sebastian was a great host, super helpful and responsive to my exhaustive questions and requests. Nice guy! Nothing
- Emilia (10/5): A great place with good vibes :) - - located in a quiet and green area, 20 min walk from the beach/boats/reistaurants etc.
- taxi service by the owner Sebastian to the town/boats/airport etc.
- Sebastian is very helpful and friendly, the contact was very easy, he helped us to book a great tour to the National Park, gave us tips and answered all questions
- the amenities are great, comfy bed, spacious interior, hot shower, clean, nice design
- pure good vibes, we loved it!
- Isabel (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location - away from town. We saw aguti and heard howler monkeys from our room
- Alonso (9/5): Relaxing room in the forest. - Very relaxing with view of the forest. Fridge and cooking inside room. Parking. No bugs. Location is a bit far from center. Mattres is very hard which was ok for us but maybe not for others.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (7/5): OK for the price. - The owner is friendly and the property is reasonably clean. The deck out the back has view onto the forest and we saw spider monkeys here on our last morning. There are also lots of butterflies and the gardens are nice. It's also possible to do a limited amount of cooking and the optional breakfast is a bonus given that the usual tours here start very early. I struggled a bit with the location, on paper it doesn't seem to be too far from town and it is walkable. But the topography is tough and when it's 30 degrees, it's an unpleasant walk. Equally given the state of the roads it's also quite an unpleasant drive. I therefore found it too secluded for my liking. But I can see why others enjoy this.
Otherwise, it's just a bit lacking overall and not necessarily very well thought out. There were no utensils for cooking, just cutlery, and a few basic provisions such as oil, salt, and pepper etc. would be a simple but important addition. Also, turn on the fridge before guests arrive! It was unplugged when we got there and had a horrible smell. There's nowhere to dry clothes and the bed (which I found too small and rock hard) lacks a headboard and is against the structure of wall so its uncomfortable to sit up in bed. Also only one bedside table? These are obviously little things and for price I guess it's OK. But it would also be easy to remedy these and make for a more practical experience. I was expecting more given the rave reviews I've read.
- Tatiana (10/5): We had a great stay; thank you for your hospitality! - Great hosts who go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable.
- Bonenfant (8/5): Really loved it here. Would absolutely stay again! - The balcony looking straight into the jungle with hammock was so nice for hanging out, having coffee in the morning and relaxing at the end of a busy day. Being able to cook was a huge plus. Large, spacious room with so many windows. Was amazing to be submerged in the sounds of the environment. Host Sebastian was great to help set up tours and give us a ride down to the beach early in the morning for $7 US. The property is a little removed from central Drake Bay town. Taxis are not abundant so if you have mobility issues it might be a little inconvenient. My partner and I walked to and from everyday to get down to the beach or into town. Worth it for the seclusion and peaceful environment.
- Emelie (10/5): We loved this place! -
- Naomi (10/5): A pretty and cozy lodge to have a nice stay. more than anything Sebastian is a great host, very friendly, communicative, - Sebastián was very friendly and helpful with getting to and from the lodge as well as booking the tours. The room is very spacious and clean. You can hear the howler monkeys, birds and insects in the night, and you feel closer to nature. The soap and shampoo dispenser. it would be nice to have better regular bar soap.
- Yvonne (9/5): Superb - Loved where this property is located because it backs onto a forest. It was relaxing to lie in the hammock and watch some monkeys, the birds and butterflies. It's a bit of a walk into town, but for me I liked that because it's quieter. Anyway, Sebastian the owner will run you into town for a small fee. Sebastian and his son were so nice and very helpful. The cabin was very spacious and clean. I loved it here. Nothing really, maybe a couple of basic provisions for cooking for example, salt pepper oil.
- Peter (10/5): Really nice cabins with beautiful jungle at your back door. - Very peaceful location in the jungle! We watched a family of howler monkeys from our deck directly behind the cabin on our first day there. We had a lovely swim in the river a short (but steep downhill) walk down the hill from the property. Sebastian is a kind, interesting and thoughtful host with a lovely family.
Loved the Cabin! We arrived in Drake with a rented 4x4 vehicle, so getting into town for restaurants and supplies was not a problem for us, but town would likely be about a 40 minute walk otherwise, which could be an issue for some people. Kitchen supplies for preparing meals could have been a bit better. Wifi was not strong, but it worked okay most of the time in the cabin.
- Jenny (9/5): A lovely budget place to stay in a quite area! - The room was large and clean. It had a great kitchen and dining area and small patio. It was perfect for our needs. after we were arrived, we discovered we had a flat tire and Sebastian. The owner was very helpful trying to help us sort it out. He actually changed our tire and arranged for us to go to a friend of his who patches them. His wife Maria make sure to clean our room every day — we were not used to this service from a less costly hotel! Their son Axel, was always available to help translate as well. The whole family is lovely!
it is 2 km from town on a bumpy road but worth it!
- Chiara (9/5): local run, authentic experience - amazing jungle experience, hearing all the animals at night location is a little far from town but that is what you get for a good experience
- Nani (10/5): Perfect! - It was very authentic in the middle of the forest and Maria and Sebas, are the perfect hosts.
They are always prone to help with anything you might need.
All the facilities were very clean, including warm water (we read it did not had, but it has)
It was 20 min walking from Drake Bay with a nice route from the forest to the beach. I you do not want to walk, Sebas can pick you up or they call a taxi for you. It was an amazing stay! -
- Yael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emma (8/5): a sweet place that is well maintained - A great size with comfy beds and nice and quiet location. It was exceptionally clean and the rooms were cleaned every day which was unusual for Costa Rica. the cooking facilities were limited and the place was pretty basic. it’s a little way out of town which means eating out in the evening needs a car really.
