Guest Reviews
- Logan (10/5): An absolute gem! - This is a wonderful place that is immersed in nature but also an easy walk to restaurants, etc.! Sitting on the deck in the forest canopy, we say two kinds of monkeys, gorgeous birds, and other wildlife. This place is an absolute gem!
- Shirin (9/5): Beautiful place - New cabins very comfortable and clean. Great locations amongst the trees. Kitchen well equipped, coffee and tea provided. Upon our arrival we were met by howler monkeys in the trees and woken up the next day with them again, this time bit closer and we have great views. Highly recommend it. The corrugated steal roof, if your light sleeper and it la raining your going to struggle. Lucky for us we could sleep through anything.
- Hilary (10/5): Lovely stay! - Superbly equipped and comfortable tree house. Beautiful! In a lovely environment. You are a 5 minute walk to nearest shops and restaurants and 15/20 mins walk from centre of town but it was nice to be out of the main town centre. Very high quality accomodation, and each tree house was very private. All good.
- jackie (8/5): - Great facilities and location. We saw howler monkeys, agouti and loads of different birds just sat on the property. Ideal location for the Cloud Forest.
- Richard (10/5): - After a warm welcome, we were shown to the perfect hideaway. Such a beautiful setting. A Coati & squirrel came to see us during our stay. Facilities were fantastic and a gorgeous place to relax after hiking. Would highly recommend. Disappointed that not many animals appeared and strong winds in the night led to disturbed sleep - neither is a fault of the fantastic host!
- Robert (8/5): Living in the forest but with the comfort of a little house - I wish i could have stayed here a bit more then one night but was travelling with family and had other obligations in my Costa Rica trip. The house is elevated and in the middle of the woods and very quiet. There were trees an all sides and the self prepred breakfast on the balcony was great. Would sure come back. No negative remarks; you have to carry your luggage via the stairs up to the house.
- Jana (9/5): -
- Mark (9/5): A great experience - We were pleasantly surprised at the comfort our room, provided while compact, it including hot water, and 2 chairs and a tableThe trees surround the room and howler monkeys are hanging around us doing their thing, which unfortunately sometimes involves thowing branches on to our roof. The patio was perfect to relax on. Not much
- Jenna (10/5): This was an absolutely fabulous stay with a kind host, beautiful surroundings, and convenient location to local attracti - Amazing house & location N/A
- Anita (10/5): A perfect stay amongst the trees ! - Lovely property in a great location , we really enjoyed our stay here amongst the trees getting visits from the local coatis as they came to say hello most days ! Edwin was so helpful and helped us with tour arrangements and also local recommendations for places to eat and a good pharmacy . It was a little chilly in the evening but the small heater in the lodge was the perfect solution , also a well equipped kitchenette , and with a supermarket within walking distance we found this useful for breakfast and snacks ! Nothing it was perfect
- Jennifer (10/5): Amazing property and wonderful stay. - Beautiful location. Unit has a fully functioning kitchen with a ton of appliances. Everything you would need was available. It was a cool night, but unit has heater. It was very cozy and beautifully decorated. I’ve loved being in the trees. We even saw a capybara! I am a hot water princess and the shower. water did not get as hot as I like. It was a minor inconvenience but not a dealbreaker.
- Tracy (10/5): A wonderful experience - It’s an absolutely beautiful setting. Though very close to town (if you have a car) the setting really feels like you’re in the middle of the jungle. Being up so high in the treehouse was awesome for watching the howler monkeys that were in the area. Woke up each morning to the sound of howler monkeys !!!
The room was clean, spacious, comfortable and very private with lots of windows to enjoy nature even when inside.
Bed was very comfortable and shower had decent water pressure.
The owner greeted us when we arrived and was very warm and friendly. He even let us know when the howler monkeys were playing quietly in the trees nearby. Nothing at all.
- Sally (9/5): If you want a unique stay in a jungle treehouse- this is the place! Amazing! - If you want to stay in the jungle, in a treehouse, surrounded by wildlife- then this is the place! We saw monkeys, butterflies, birds, coatis and more. The treehouse itself was comfortable and cosy, and it was a beautiful balcony to sit and observe the wildlife. Edwin was extremely helpful and very good communication. We would happily stay again!
- Rachael (9/5): Beautiful rooms with nice amenities. Close to town and lots of desirable estieties and activities. Edwin is an excellent - Beautiful grounds! The room was nice with a gorgeous jungle view. We saw coatis and lots of birds. Loved the patio chairs! Edwin was super helpful and responsive. We loved the property and host. Our only recommendation would be to have some hooks for clothing and/or luggage racks. There was nowhere to put our clothing.
- Julia (10/5): - Very nice host, great hut in the nature. Nosebears pass by.
- Scherer (10/5): Tree top paradise, quiet and yet close to everything you need! - The picture don’t do it justice, the treehouses are even more wonderful in person! It’s like a small piece of paradise and a great place to bird watch! Edwin was amazing and took a lot of time to answer any questions we had! Nothing
- JANAINA (6/5): -
- Karen (10/5): Lovely, well equipped and modern tree house. - Lovely accommodation. Surrounded by forest. Comfortable bed and well equipped kitchenette. Friendly host who met us on arrival Nothing
- Annie (9/5): - We loved our little tree house, it had everything you needed to be self sufficient for a couple of nights, although there are some nice places to eat nearby. It was very comfortable and cozy, with a little heater for chilly evenings. Our host was really helpful when is came to making arrangements to visit nearby attractions. We had a great time and would definitely recommend this place. NOT A COMPLAINT, just a tip. If you ran the shower at full power the water was warm, turn it down a little for a good hot shower 😁
- Fredette (9/5): -
- Mirelle (10/5): - Super mooie locatie en boomhut is zeer compleet en comfortabel. Host zeer vriendelijk en we hebben veel
dieren gezien bij het huisje Helemaal niets
- Hakan (10/5): -
- Jonathan (10/5): -
- Kerstin (10/5): Schöne gepflegte Unterkunft. - Sehr gepflegte, saubere, liebevolle eingerichtete Unterkunft. Sehr schnelles Internet. Bequeme Matratze . Badezimmer schön hell beleutet. Schlafraum lässt sich gut mit Vorhängen abdunkeln. Insgesamt abgeundet sehr gute Unterkunft. Schlecht beleuchteter Schlaf - und Wohnbereich. Licht ist sehr duster. Keine Leselampe vorhanden.
- Estie (9/5): - A fun setting in the trees Hard to find
- Niccolò Bellucco (10/5): - Your own little treehouse among the trees, waking up with the sound of nearby birds has no price. Very clean and comfortable, a really romantic stay for every couple.
The host is amazing, we had many troubles during our trip (arriving late and changing nights because of traffic jam), but he made it work without any problem. Always responsive and kind. You also have a little kitchen corner to make breakfast or just coffee.
Really nice restaurants nearby, and away from the touristic and noisy town center.
- KAROLÍNA (10/5): - We originally planned to stay at Jungle Living Tree Houses [1] for just one night, but the place is so magical that we immediately extended our stay to two nights. And we don’t regret it for a second!
The accommodation is absolutely amazing. Spending a night in a tree house in the middle of the jungle is an unforgettable experience. Everything is clean, comfortable and blends perfectly with the surrounding nature.
A big plus deserves the owner – he is incredibly helpful, friendly and was able to arrange all the activities and transfers for us to our complete satisfaction. Thanks to him, our stay was even more enjoyable and carefree.
We highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone looking for peace, adventure and great service in Monteverde. We will definitely be back!
- Sebastien (10/5): - La qualité du service . L’endroit est juste parfait ! Rien de spécial
- Geoff (9/5): A great experience . - A fabulous , unusual place to stay. The house was really well finished , lined with wood which just added to the whole tree house feel. The kitchen was well equipped and you could easily have made all your meals . The balcony was a great place to sit and listen to the jungle sounds . Very little storage space for clothes .
- Tatiana (10/5): -
- Fraefel (8/5): -
- Nevena (10/5): Excellent Accommodation! - We enjoyed very much our stay at the Jungle Tree House! If you are looking for a bit adventurous and interesting set-up - do not look further! The host was amazing. Bed was comfortable, kitchenette equipped well! We saw few animals too!
- Artemio (10/5): A beautiful place to stay, with great staff, great room and a must try at least once. - A unique and beautiful experience. You’re up around 20-30 feet, surrounded by greenery and nature. The cabins are beautiful, well taken care of with a sink, dishes, fridge and other amenities. The owner is a great guy that is super helpful. You really do feel emerged into the forest.
- Dominic (10/5): -
- Nathalie (10/5): Belle expérience! Nous avons adoré! -
- Monica (8/5): Very good - Great jungle escape in Monteverde. The cabin itself is quite small but managed with 2 people and a large suitcase. Nice clean washroom and kitchen was equipped with standard kitchenware, cutlery, etc which was useful to make some basic meals. The outside balcony/patio is the real selling point, it was so lovely to sit outside and listen to the animals or watch the rain. We saw a coati or two and a fair few birds. There were a few spiders and insects that would find their way inside, but it is the jungle after all! The host provided us with a map and recommendations of restaurants and activities which was great. It was significantly cooler in the evenings so make sure to pack some layers! Overall enjoyed our stay!
Just an FYI a lot of shuttle drivers and taxis didn't know about Jungle Living Tree Houses but we just mentioned that it was across from Cala Lodge and everyone seemed to recognize that!
- Ashley (8/5): Really Nice Place - Location is perfect, close to town but not in the chaos. It's tranquil and has everything you need.If you are lucky you see wildlife in the trees, we saw Koati's from our bed!
- Dylan (10/5): An idyllic jungle retreat - not far from the town but right in nature. - Beautiful forest location. Elevated among the trees with big windows to look out into the woods. Very windy so there was quite a bit of noise. This is normal for the area though and just wondering to keep in mind.
- Catherine (10/5): Perfect jungle vibe! - We loved the beautiful forest surroundings around our treehouse! Although we knew there were other treehouses close by, giving us a sense of security, our view from our treehouse itself was total jungle, giving us a private jungle vibe with no other treehouses or buildings within view of us. It was such a cool experience! We were lucky to have 2 sunny mornings so we woke up slowly, lying in bed, enjoying the dappled sunlight peaking through our jungle view from the vast windows. I loved Monteverde and hope to go back and when I do, I'll stay here again!
- Narmisha (9/5): Superb - Fun experience to stay here! The beds were very comfortable.
- Lamm (10/5): I wish we would have stayed longer! - The owner was so kind, seems like a great guy! It was beautiful area, nice to see all the nature from our porch. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and beautiful, amenities were great n/a
- Solimar (9/5): Superb - Great location amongst the trees. Loved the hammock and the big windows in our cabin.
If you are sensitive to noise (tree branches hitting the roof), I suggest bringing ear plugs.
- Stephen (10/5): Perfect stay in our tree home for 2 nights - Perfectly positioned, 10 mins from the town and restaurants and supermarket. We were welcomed by the hosts and given lots of advice. Edwin booked our trip for the next day. Listening to the birds in evening and early morning was a real treat. Nothing
- Redwood (10/5): Beautiful, natural, and comfortable. - This was a wonderful stay in a beautiful treehouse cabin. The owner met us warmly and helped with recommendations.
- Jane (8/5): Much better than a hotel and good value, I’d recommend! - Very clean, comfortable and well equipped treehouse, in a small copse of woods on the edge of town. Plenty of parking. There were about 4 treehouses but all very private and secluded from each other. Excellent insect screens and well sealed sliding doors, so no wildlife could come inside! On our 3rd night we moved (as our previous one was already booked) and stayed in Capuchin house which was the best- higher up, more views and we even had a coati visit our veranda. Edwin was helpful and gave us 2 good dinner recommendations a very short walk away. The road was quite near and noisy, and the property behind had barking dogs… so don’t expect to be deep in the bush. We still saw lovely birds, our coati, some agouti from the veranda and even saw an armadillo on our way back from a night tour, and we could walk from the property.
- Aimee (9/5): Excellent private tree house! - The room and even the bathroom very were spacious. We absolutely loved sitting in our balcony in the hammock chairs every free second we had, even if just to sip coffee in the mornings before our adventures. The host was informative and friendly. This is one of the best accommodations we had during our stay in Costa Rica (4 different cities), with the most equipped kitchen. Highly recommend! No A/C, but a fan was provided, which was more than enough for when we went (March).
- Claire (10/5): A fun and unusual place to stay. - Staying in a treehouse in the jungle is such a great experience! They were well thought out, the kitchenette was really well stocked, it was spotlessly clean. Edwin was extremely helpful, especially as we were early. He booked tours and taxis for us. We loved it! Nothing! It was quite cool at night but there was a cosy heater
- Siobhan (10/5): Beautiful stay - Edwin is great, he contacted us prior to our stay with recommendations of what to do in the area, and was always available via WhatsApp to help with our many questions! He is willing to help book tours etc. You can pay to do laundry there, which was very convenient for us.
The accommodation is beautiful, we were in 'Agouti' house, lovely comfortable bed, very clean, convenient kitchen area, which we used to make breakfast and some dinners. The bathroom is lovely, with a good shower and hot water, there was shampoo and conditioner, which smelt really nice! Lovely outside area with a huge hammock and chairs and table. We saw so many Coatis roaming about, and agouti, and on all but one morning were woken by howler monkeys, we even got to see a little baby monkey!
The location for us was great, out of the town enough to feel peaceful, but easy enough to get to. If you have any kind of mobility issues, you'd want a car, as the road to town is very steep hills (down on the way to town, up on the way back). The only thing was by the 4th night, our towels were starting to smell damp, as they don't dry properly in the bathroom, a towel change might have been nice, but I'm sure if we'd asked Edwin wouldn't have minded, it just didn't bother us enough to ask.
- Carina (8/5): Great treehouse experience - Great location in Monteverde. Clean and comfortable room The kitchen had so many gadgets but there wasn’t anywhere to sit and eat comfortably
- Tori (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jami-lee (8/5): Nice stay in the heart of monteverde with our own private glamping experience. - Nice hidden oasis in the middle of town close to the attractions. Loved the privacy of the room and all the small details. Kitchen was fully equipped and the staff that we encountered were extremely helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, the shower was cold and the room we had was right next to a road so we could hear traffic at times.
- Amy (9/5): Superb - So beautiful. Lots of windows and very clean. Road noise and shower tap was not super hot.
- Tiffany (10/5): Secluded, but close to everything - The host Edwin was terrific! He recommended a restaurant up high for the best sunset view! A small kitchenette and coffee was available in the treehouse. All glass windows for the best views and bird watching. Big hammock on the porch. Every treehouse was spaced far apart for privacy. 10 out of 10! We were hoping for more wildlife (monkeys) but did see several beautiful birds up close.
- Jackie (10/5): Stay in treehouses. Great location to the Cloud Forest - Edwin was the best host. We arrived a bit early and he invited us to eat our picnic lunch on the property. We were shown to our treehouses.
They were both awesome. Ours had a full sized bed and a smaller kitchen, my son and wife got the Queen bed with a larger kitchen. Both tree houses had nice chairs in their indoor sitting areas. Both had additional seating outside on the deck.
Edwin arranged for us to have as night hike. He also arranged for us to have a professional guide- Jonathan - for the clouds forest reserve. (We were having a hard time with reservations online)
The tree houses have no a/c but have fans and windows with screens and a heater. We just opened the windows and let the air in! We never felt hot.
We loved the little kitchen. We could make coffee and oatmeal for breakfast. We could have made dinner there as well because it had cooking burners and a few pots and pans. They had all the cooking utensils including a wine opener.
We also saw lots of birds and had agoutis eating on our porch. (They ran off when they spotted us)
I loved this place, and loved Edwin's hospitality, and would highly recommend it to other travelers Nothing
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tessa (3/5): Poor -
- Matthew (10/5): Great place to see wildlife. Highly recommended - We loved the location, set high in the trees with lots of monkeys and birds close by. Very clean and comfortable accommodations. Quiet and peaceful. The staff was very responsive and seemed to genuinely care about our comfort. Nothing
- Stephen (9/5): Love being surrounded by wildlife in a relaxing environment. - I loved the immersion into the rainforest this place has. The style of the interior is very cool and you can see various animals, we saw howler monkeys, a big troop of coatis and some nice tropical birds. Edwin is a very nice and helpful host, giving good insider tips on what to see/do. He even alerted us to the location of the howler monkeys. I think this is my favourite place I stayed while in Costa Rica. Thank you Edwin for allowing us to stay at an amazing place. Like others have said, when it rains it can be loud on the roof. Although it didn’t bother me too much. The howler monkeys pooped on our car haha.
- Michaela (10/5): Wonderful relaxing cabins tucked away in nature and away from town but still central - We have stayed in several tree houses before so our expectations were mixed. But this one really exceeded our expactations. The house was spacious, beautiful, functional and nicely set in a forest setting. The house seemed new and had many appliances plus coffee, tea, condiments etc readily available. Edwin, the host, greeted us and made sure we had everything we needed. We didnt see any animals (probably due to the rain) but it was still lovely and very relaxing. They even had a small electric fireplace for rainy nights which was extra cozy. I would definitivly come back! Nothing. We loved everything. Maybe add a rack for the suitcase.
- Olivia (10/5): Amazing Jungle Tree House Stay - This property was gorgeous in and amongst the cloud forest of Monteverde. The balcony was amazing and lovely to sit and watch the wildlife. It was clean and tidy and very cosy at night. The bed was comfortable, and the panoramic views of the forest through the windows made for a great view for your morning coffee. The location was great a short walk into town but a bit of a steep walk but up however only a $5 taxi ride! The staff were incredibly friendly - Edwin welcomed us, showed us around and even booked us on zip lining tours and night tours ! I would highly recommend! Nothing!
- Ivo (8/5): Very good - Nice in the green and a good place to stay when you visit moneverde
- Lucy (9/5): An authentic treehouse in the forest experience - Lives up to the name of being a treehouse in the jungle It get noisy at night with the wind and rain on the roof.
- Etsuko (10/5): Exceptional - Unique experience - living in jungle with comfort. Shower water wasn't hot, but it's really minor, comparing to everything else which was fantastic.
- John (10/5): Wonderful time in a jungle treehouse!! - The owners were so friendly and accomodating and the tree house was so clean and fresh. I highly recommend!
- Natalia (9/5): Superb - Amazing tree house. Fully equipped kitchen, comfy bed, great views No AC to get rid of humidity inside
- Janet (10/5): Absolutely beautiful accommodation/location & excellent customer service from Edwin - Stayed in beautiful Aguti house. Clean & modern. Loved the red hammock on the patio area and the large windows to view the jungle! Appreciated the kitchen area with coffee & teas. Outside seating areas were also lovely even though it was raining during our stay. Edwin was amazing. Answering our emails and arranging a Night walk tour & guide Jonathan for the cloud forest. Excellent service
- Deborah (10/5): Such fun! - Closer enough to walk to down town, quaint setting, quality decorations and kitchenware. The proprietor of friendly and helpful. It was such a fun experience to stay at Jungle Living Tree Houses. Nothing!
- William (9/5): Nice place! Conveniently located. Great host. -
- Marielle (9/5): Perfect little cabins in the jungle - The tree houses are beautiful rustic little apartments in the heart of a biological corridor between reserves. We saw so many cool animals and some particularly amazing birds. The ambiance is unbeatable, and sitting in a hanging hammock seat while birds sing in the heart of the rainforest was wonderfully peaceful. Edwin, the owner, was super helpful with recommendations and booking a guide for the cloud forest. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. We had a bit of trouble with one of the low-flow toilets and the showers were tepid, though lovely. Each room is provided with a fan and heater, but we used neither as it was comfortable without them and the fan is small, but powerful and loud. The lower room (not a treehouse) had some bug friends enter, but that's what happens when you're in the middle of the rainforest and Raid was provided.
- Jolyn (9/5): Great stay and very private - Secluded and comfortable
- Vandy (9/5): Fun jungle experience in a cute treehouse in a great location with an awesome host. - Location (walking distance to restaurants and the supermarket) ambiance, cleanliness, wildlife: Edwin was awesome - we told him what we wanted to do, and he booked the excursions. The treehouse was super cute! And monkeys and coati as our neighbours. Well, sleeping was challenging at times because of the tin roof. Things would drop in the night and wake us. And the rain on the roof was literally deafening at times. For instance, it was pouring outside so we were waiting for it to calm a bit, so tried to watch a movie. Impossible! The volume could not go high enough to be heard. But it was a small price to pay for such a unique experience.
- Eva (10/5): The hosts were very helpful and super friendly. If you do make your way to Monteverde then I can highly recommend these - Wry special location staying in the trees
- Tim (9/5): Superb -
- Emma (10/5): We had a beautiful stay and wished we could have been there longer! Edwin was a kind and attentive host and the location - Beautiful location, really responsive host, great amenities and gorgeous treehouses. So much wildlife around. Nothing, was perfect.
- Deanna (9/5): amazing location - this was an amazing stay in the middle of the forest. we saw so much wildlife from our deck, and it was so cool. the location made the entire stay well worth it! the water didn’t get super warm in the shower. but, that’s the only complaint!
- Adriana (10/5): Relaxing retreat in nature - The property was surrounded with greenery and was truly so serene. We even opted to stay in for most meals just because the ambiance there was so wonderfully cozy and peaceful. Saw coatis, birds, monkeys, and armadillos! I was very happy with the experience!
- Kira (9/5): Cute treehouse - Cute tree house with a nice balcony. We saw many animals. That was great
- Danielle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brittany (10/5): Absolutely fantastic, I’d go back in a heartbeat. - It was absolutely stunning! Very cool experience being up in the trees. Nothing.
- Lucas (8/5): Very good - Very nice tree house
- Nichola (10/5): A great stay in amongst the trees and wildlife. - There are 3 tree houses. Initially I was disappointed because our tree house was overlooking the car park. However, the car park only ever had the maximum of 3 cars so it’s not an issue. Inside we turned the armchairs around to face the trees. Within a few minutes of settling in 2 beautiful birds flew down and perched on the branches of the trees right in front of us. The coatis took more time to visit but they really put on a show. We really didn’t know what to expect from a treehouse but the house was really comfy and the bed was high enough so we could see the trees while lying in bed. we had a brilliant time. Edwin gave us lots of good tips about where to eat and places to visit which we really appreciated. I would definitely recommend the experience. As we were staying for 3 nights, we would have liked a couple of coat hangers so we could air our clothes. There were 4 hooks for coats but no coat hangers. we were traveling with rucksacks so it would have been good to hang up some clothes. We needed the hooks to hang up our wet gear from the cloud forest.
- Camika (9/5): A once in a lifetime opportunity to enjoy jungle living at its best! - We loved our host and his attentiveness to our needs. The treehouse was well constructed, comfortable with good amenities. This is a good location for relaxation, yet close too many attractions, restaurants and a well stocked grocery store. We loved having a few wild friends visit us near our porch in the morning. Would undoubtedly stay again as it was a unique highlight of our trip. Nothing to dislike
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (8/5): We really enjoyed staying there- lots of wildlife! - Location, clean Very little hot water
- Andrew (10/5): Thanks Edwin, see you soon! - The natural “feel” about the unit being in the forest was amazing. Within 24 hours, we saw Coati’s, Howler monkeys, Agusti’s, Motmot’s, Trogon’s. The host Edwin is available, personable, professional, helpful, and happy!! The self contained unit with fully functional kitchenette was great to have. The location was excellent with several excellent restaurants and a perfect supermarket within 5-10 minutes walk.
- Simon (9/5): Dream location amongst the tree in the cloud forest! - Fantasy location - room on stilts amongst the trees! Absolutely amazing room and location in monteverde waking up amongst swaying trees with local wildlife causally walking past. Bed and facilities all excellent. Edwin is a total legend and could not be more helpful - many thanks! Nothing
- Daniel (10/5): Beautiful place in the middle of the Jungle1 - Beautiful location. Very friendly owner. Nothing comes to my mind
