Guest Reviews
- Megan (7/5): - Landscaping of property and access to the pool. Located close to our rock climbing areas. Beds were not comfortable. At all other rental homes we’ve stayed at, there were things like extra linens, coffee, oil for cooking, tin foil, some condiments etc… there were none at this property. The dishwasher did not work very well.
- Paul (6/5): Pleasant - The pool is a good size and ideally for the hot August temperatures. The A/C was effective.
After 10 (see why further down) we enjoyed sitting on the patio listening to the local farmer bring the goats by, ringing their bells, enjoying some wine.
Good parking for our campervan. The hosts operate a 'hands off' approach. Apart from telling us the key was in the door we did not hear from them until the last day - when they asked if we would be leaving on time to get the cleaners in.
Our stay was for 16 nights during which time there was no interim clean or any fresh bed linen given which we would have expected.
No welcome pack - no instructions of any kind. This location is very remote. Fortunately we drove down through Spain so had picked up fresh food on route, the roads are challenging so not ideal for a novice driver.
The local supermarket is in Alora.
The Villa La Solana photos do NOT represent how the villa looks now - 2023. The plaster, in large patches is coming off the wall facing the pool, the wooden banister is rotten and dangerous. The perimeter is not secure. Local dogs walk on to the plot almost daily. One night they chewed through our pool inflatables.
2 of the six lounges are broken, there isn't a small table as per the picture.
Accommodates 6 however there are only 5 outside chairs - 1 chair has a broken leg so only 4 are usable.
Heavily stained shower curtain in the bathroom.
The swarm of flies meant you could not sit and eat outside until after 10 when it went quiet. The bites were unbelievable. No amount of citronella candles had any impact what so ever.
The molding seals of the fridge were unacceptable.
It's clearly just a rental, unloved, all the photographs were clearly taken 2013 when originally covered from a barn to a villa - as I discovered during my research on the internet.
Sadly it's neglected - can't recommend.
- Bf (5/5): run down accommodation, fine size for 3 but 6 would be very cramped. - Location is good for access to climbing locations. It is right on the road so sometimes it is noisy during the day, especially weekends. At night barking dogs but you can't get away from that in rural Spain. Very limited crockery and cutlery -just 3 bowls for example - meant we had to wash after every meal and couldn't really use the dishwasher which would have been nice.
The photos are from a long time ago and are misleading as things were a bit run down - broken light fitting in bathroom not replaced, cracked tiles, blinds not working, dvd player didn't work, sloping bed mattress, broken fencing, overgrown trees (first two nights were windy and the trees rubbed and banged against the property, broken fencing. none of these individual things are major, but together gave the feeling of an un-looked after property.
